Coke worked on my daughter.
Do you also use the sprays they have available for the house?
Hair Spray, Moose and Skin so Soft is what my mom used.
Unfortunately cut her hair then do treatments
If all the chemicals and home remedies are not working, then your best bet is cutting her hair short or shaving it.
One is to guarantee getting rid of the lice than the other.
Coconut oil lots of it and pick and comb
When I was younger I had the same problem my mom tried everything and my hair was super long as well. She cut my hair super super short like all but shaved it it was a very cute pixie cut then after that I never left the house without hairspray I’m bow 31 and haven’t ever had it again. I was in the 4th grade when this happened. My daughters have never had it and I use hair spray religiously in their hair every day before they go anywhere.
Just bag everything g, clothing, stuffys bedding for a week! Leave her with a few outfits and one blanket and pillow vacuum like crazy and leave vacuum outside when done and get your self some tea tree oil! That’s all I got! Good luck
Castor oil. Coat hair before bed and cover with a shower cap overnight. Wash hair through a couple of times in the morning. Repeat the process every 3-4 days for a couple of weeks. Those little critters will be snuffed out. They literally will smother due to the thickness of the oil. They can’t move in it. Anything not washable in hot water needs to be placed in a black plastic bag and stored for about a month. I live in a warm climate and had great success with the castor oil.
Im telling you use lice MD they used to sell it at meijer but I was buying 3 packs on Amazon. My daughter has long hair and I swear she was getting it twice a year. Its the only thing that worked. Make sure you are changing and washing the bedsheets and put a sheet down anywhere she sits and remove it after and at least put it in dryer to kill them after.
They have lice clinics.
Use a straightener or curling iron
If she really has head lice use the stuff that gets rid of crabs it’s shampoo u get it at the drug store it works
I would wash all combs as well and bomb the house once you
Clean the hair
Look up lice nanny… she’s based out of Michigan but the stuff works.
There are companies/ businesses that do it if you look it up. They have a little vacuum that they run threw your hair it’s like $150 tho
They hate mint… I used the dr teals lotion all on their chest and backs etc after showers… In their hair i washed it with white vinegar combing it best i can. I made a concoction of tea tree oil & coconut oil and rubbed it scalp Going down after done washing hair. Just did best i can once to twice etc a day. The otc stuff DID NOT WORK. Took about a week to get it out. As u sit there and the oil is in u can keep combing the nits out. Good luck hun. Also sounds bad but dying their hair helps too. I did that to mine. Idk how old they are.
Also keep in braids in between they dont like to climb thru.
Try the stuff on there, I had same issues tried this. Bam! Gone.
I had this exact problem in grade 2… (I’m 22 now) and after a year of having it come back over and over again, my family shaved my head… the only thing that worked.
You could try cutting her hair into a pixie cut, if you have a close friend or family member who cuts hair and they are willing to touch her head, they could give her a stylish pixie cut. I just got a buzz cut that still has me traumatized
Cur her hair very short. Freeeedommmmm
Peppermint extract spray.
Cut her hair short. I know it will be upsetting to both of you. But it’s for the best. It will grow back. I did this with my daughter and it worked. I had to comb through her hair every other night including the shampoo.
This may sound odd, but Adams dog shampoo for fleas, ticks, and lice. Its in a blue bottle with a red top. You can get it at Walmart. When she takes a bath, lather it in her hair and let it sit for a couple of minutes then wash it out and wash her hair like normal. Be careful not to get it in her eyes but it worked wonders for us. You may have to do it 2 or 3 days but it works! Never hurt anything when we did it!
I know this sounds crazy but after washing everything and using the Normal lice treatment, have her wash her hair every time she showers with dog shampoo that kills fleas and comb her hair with a fine comb in the shower while she has a lot of conditioner in her hair. Then blow dry and use straighter as often as she’ll let you. This will stop the hatching eggs that you’ve missed. (I had a lot of sisters and girl cousins with so much hair!)
I had to have my daughter professionally treated. I has the same problem with long, thick hair. It was awful and we were both at our breaking point. Two trips did it (the 2nd was just a 7 day follow up to ensure they were gone, and thankfully, they were!).
When I had several years ago I had to straighten my hair every single day to kill it and it was gone within a few days
And make sure she washes it every day that might help
Wash all combs and her sheets… there are shampoo for lice too…
Short hair will not help.use vinegar every day and ponytails her hair The bug’s like louse hair
Is the comb you’re using specifically for lice?
When my daughter caught it at school one year, I used. Tea tree shampoo and used baby oil on her hair. It worked great! And she had hair down to her bottom. If that doesn’t work, I would consider cutting her hair. Unfortunately, it maybe your only choice. Hope this helps!
Just a note to self, head lice are attracted to clean hair! Are you washing her hair too often maybe? Just a thought☺️
Put in an 8 hour treatment but leave it in all night wash it out next day and they should be gone than 7 days later do the same thing again that should be the end of them also treat everyone in the house on the same days
I had it for a year straight as a kid! and the ONLY thing that worked was my mom actually bleached my hair! killed all the bugs and the eggs didn’t hatch ! was the best thing my mom did for me! I actually am still a blonde to this day because of it!
Dr. prescribed…not sure if still exists but my friend’s daughter had it from school and was infested with them and tons of nits before it was caught. Med was called OVIDE. It was a liquid in small jar and was like $50 20 yrs. ago. It killed all the live bugs and completelybdried up all the nits…turned them to be like dandruff. She had thick hair half down back but that stuff worked better than anything else. Good luck.
Vinegar. It kills the eggs. Pour over the head let it sit then wash
CUT HER HAIR, It grows back
I bleached my hair to get rid of them. They don’t survive that.
I was a teenager the only time I got them to.
Olive oil and shower cap overnight. You can use a grocery bag as well if you don’t have a shower cap.
cut her hair, it’ll grow back
Hair dye was the only thing that got rid of it for me… It was a nightmare when I had it.
Frontline from the pet store
My daughter had lice when she was in kindergarten, at that point she had hair down past her feet that we would have to braid so the other kids would not sit on it at school. And she got lice and we tried everything including taking her to the doctor and even a couple experimental things from our local Medical College you. Nothing worked! I finally bought a mild flea shampoo and I washed her hair with that. I sat with her and I only left it on only as long as I dared to because I didn’t want to burn her skin. It finally worked. After months about 4 months it took us to get rid of them. Don’t forget to treat the rest of your household to not just the people but also your furniture your beddings your curtains your shower curtains everything
My daughter got it an I was fed up. I put a jar of mayo in her hair ties a plastic bag around her head an she wore it for the day. She wasnt happy but it worked after everything I tried.
Mayo on her head covered in a shower. Ap for an hour comb through spray everything with tea tree oil also put it all you shampoo for a few bottles
Listerine put on hair and leave it on overnight it works well
Hear me out
MAYO
On her scalp
Sit for an hour with a bag over her head
Then wash out
The grease suffocates them
Comb every single day and make sure you’re getting any live ones. So they can’t lay anymore. That’s the first step.
Next
Try to get the all the eggs Atleast one inch or so away from her scalp.
The eggs or nymphs can not survive without blood and the conditions closest to the scalp
I’d recommend a hair cap to sleep at night as well as washing bedding
Bedding should be Washed in hot water and then dried for Atleast a hour or more or sit in the sun for the day to suffocate them
(It’s not so much the washing that kills them. The heat does)
Lice like clean environments. Try to avoid over washing her hair.
Best of luck!
Hope this helps!
You got this momma!
Store brand listerine. Killed the lice and the eggs. Pour it all over the head put a bag over the head and let sit as long as they can handle it. Rinse out. Can repeat again the next day. Wash everything is n hot water. I didn’t even have to comb anything out. It all washed out. Only thing that helped killed everything.
Drench her hair in Coconut oil, put a plastic bag over her hair for an hour then wash out and blow dry and straighten her hair. I had like when I was younger and it was gone in 3 days. I did that once and sometimes twice a day
Buy the furniture spray and make sure your spraying down all the furniture and vacuuming it, beds, couches. Recliners, etc. All stuffed animals need to go in an airtight plastic bag for 30+ days or in the dryer on high heat. Make sure your throwing out any combs/brushes and hair ties/bows/etc. make sure all clothes are washed and dried on high heat. Also, make sure if she’s going to a daycare that none of the other kids have it. She could just be getting reinfested by another child. That happened to us and it was my niece that kept giving them to my daughter. Once I figured that out we were able to eliminate the cause me get rid of them.
My mom used baby oil and Saran Wrap on my head for 8 hours and that worked
Mayo works
Also try baking soda into conditioner w aloe and tea tree oil… mix all together and give her a treatment of this each day for one week
This is in addition to the Mayo staying in her hair overnight w plastic bagged wrapped round.
Also after all make sure you’re cleaning all bedding, spraying couches, car seats, cleaning all laundry etc…
And also… try to eliminate where this originated so that you can put a stop to reoccurrence
When lice treatment, perscription, Mayo, etc didn’t work. I finally broke down and dyed her hair. I simply refused to cut my daughters hair. We also live bombed the house. It worked for us
Call her pediatrician and get a RX.
Rubbing alcohol works well. 10 mins with a bag on. Don’t let kid scratch head with bag on. I did this for my kids who have extremely thick hair.
Oh yeah and flea powder on the carpet works too. Then vacuum
All you do is … use the poison in her hair … when done oil her hair if you want but shut off her room for 26 hours , anything that is cloth furniture , don’t touch it or cover it with a sheets 26 hours , have her sleep on the floor or couch , any carpets ? Then make a trail that you walk with sheets or stay off it 26 hours . It will die all of it will die
Amber listerine. Buy a ton of it and soak for 20 minutes. Wash all bedding. Spray everything with it don’t forget the car. Do it once a week for a month. And keep her hair in braids, they jump from friend to friend. You MUST do it four or five times or they’ll keep coming back!
I would try the listerine that others have recommended, then have her hair cut to a more manageable length like just below the shoulder, and use shampoo with tea tree oil.
YOU MUST TREAT ONCE A WEEK FOR AT LEAST A MONTH. ONE EGG MISSED AND THEY COME BACK. bold bc no one else is saying this
Also, don’t let her wear her hair loose when she’s around other kids.
Try nitwits from the chemist it’s the only thing that worked for my daughter and she too had really thick long hair and it doesn’t require combing and doesn’t smell horrible either
Also straighten and/or blow dry her hair the can’t survive thru the heat
Coat her entire head in baby oil and let it sit for at least two hours, the longer the better and then wash out with dish soap and comb the eggs out and any lice you find, there is such a thing as treatment resistant lice, you just have to remove them from the head entirely or suffocate them, there are also lice clinics in alot of areas now that you can pay to comb and treat
Every time you treat the hair you have to vacuum everything (furniture too)throw all the bedding and pillows (anything else) in the dryer on hot, all toys that have hair and clothes or stuffed animals needs to be bagged up for 2 weeks. My daughter has so much hair and I would checked her hair everyday. Even if she didn’t have any lice I still washed the bedding everyday. It just takes one bug.
Get a shower cap and saturate her hair with olive or vegetable oil. Can be coconut oil too. Let the oil stay on the hair and scalp for several hours. My daughter had the most impossible to kill lice and this is the only thing that worked. The oil drowns them but it takes hours. I used a flea comb and brushed them out a few times throughout the process. Combing does remove quite a bit of the oil so I reapplied after each combing. But…after 5 hours of this they were all dead and gone once she showed. We fought with trying to kill them multiple times and ways. Tons of $$ and chemicals. Nothing worked except the oil.
Mayonnaise all over hair, cover with shower cap then leave on for 2+ hours, rinse out and comb. I only ever have to do it the once, it smothers live ones and eggs then they comb out.
Don’t cut her hair! I have 2 boys and 1 girl with long hair down to their bums. Different types from straight to curly and thick like kill me thick. Wash everyday. Comb through. Clean sheets and pillow cases everyday. You must pick out the eggs. If it’s one thing I’ve learnt growing up. Picking eggs out are your best chance after getting all the big ones out. When all 3 of mine get it. It takes me a week to get them all out and that’s just cleaning sheets pillows and washing and picking everyday. Hard work but it works! It may also help if she goes to school to let the teacher know someone in class has knits and your child is coming home with it.
Coat her entire head in mayonnaise. Put a bag/cap on her head and have her sleep with it on (Mayo and bag combined will make it to where they can’t move and smother them). Wash in the morning and go through her hair with a nit comb. Go through her hair daily and even use a flashlight to look through her hair as the eggs will shine. Take out EVERY nit you see. Treat again 7 days after.
After an awful bout with it, my girls still go through their hair nightly after their shower with a nit comb because they REFUSE to go through the treatments ever again.
Put tea tree oil in shampoo and let it sit on her head
Straighten and blow dry her hair daily for a while
Fairytale shampoo and conditioner is good. It is a daily shampoo and conditioner which will keep it away
We went to a lice treatment facility. It was the only thing that worked.
Get an electric nit comb works wonders. Only has enough power to electrocute the nits and they stick in the comb so all you have to do is brush them out of the comb. Doesn’t get rid of eggs, so as long as you do it every day, there will be no new infestations. Absolutely doesn’t harm your head and no nasty chemicals. I’ve got four daughters with insanely long hair, and I have never had to cut their hair. Running the comb through takes up to about 10 minutes on my oldest daughter who has ridiculous thick hair.
Mayonnaise and a plastic shower cap. The mayonnaise will smother them, then wash her hair with apple cider vinegar. Put tea tree oil in her hair everyday to keep them away
Buy Paul Mitchell’s Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner and add a few drops of rosemary essential oil in both. Dump rubbing alcohol all over her head, make sure she lays on the counter with head in sink to prevent it getting in her eyes. It’s very strong too. Put a bag over her head for a couple hours. Get an extension cord and hook it up to hair dryer and blow dry her hair on high heat. Then wash with shampoo and conditioner I mentioned above. Trust me Ive done this and it works. Make sure all bedding, anything fabric is washed in hot and dried on high. Vacuum every day.
Orange cap men’s Edge Gel every few days. I would leave it on for about an hour with shower cap & wash. Vacuum & Laundry every day. We did this for about 2 weeks straight. It’s so daunting but this was the ONLY way we could get rid of them when my daughter had them and she also had a mass amount of hair
If her hair is past her butt you need at least 3 prescription bottles and need to treat it a fee days apart. Wash everything in hot water (back pack and everything she comes into contact with) bag up any cloth anything she doesn’t use for a couple weeks. It is a nightmare. Spray couches and anything you can’t wash. We have had it twice in the last year, hopefully we don’t have to deal with it anymore.
They might have lice removal specialist in your area
Lice love clean hair, so I would suggest you use baby oil & leave in her hair for 2-3 days while you wash & dry anything her hair may of touched, bedding, toys, couch, hair brush or combs, etc etc after 2-3 days wash her hair in a tea tree solution, (now this may leave her hair dry, so you may need conditioner) then I would suggest to dry hair with a hair dyer in parts so you can check thoroughly that the lice has gone, sometimes you will need to repeat the steps as the hair may still hold eggs, also try an keep her hair a little oily or use hair spray after washing her hair.
Is there an animal that sleeps with her dogs cats can carry lice too I think if you’re getting rid of it she is getting it from somewhere…
Use Rid every 7 days. In between wash her hair in lice shield… spray everything with lice home spray (cars, couches, carpets, any fabric), wash and dry all soft toys, spray and bag all toys that can’t be washed that have combination of soft and hard surfaces. Let her friends and family that have been around her know to treat as well. It’s likely she is passing it back and forth with a friend.
I’d first cut her hair to at least shoulder length and then treat her hair bc you’re most likely not getting it all if it’s that much hair
I’m amazed at the people talking about how their kids always get lice and how long it takes to get it out😂 kids don’t need long hair and I’m sure they don’t like it or care how long it
Is:woman_facepalming:t2:
I managed to get rid of it for me and my three girls a long time ago. I used the LiceFree system and I soaked our heads overnight in coconut oil, then washed it out in the morning and combed it. Wash bedding, pillows, any and everything fabric. Wash all stuffies and if they can’t be washed, stick them in trash bags outside for a few days. Vacuum every day, spray couches and beds with the special furniture spray for lice. And invest in tea tree oil and spray it on everyone’s heads and everything. Have you treated everyone’s head in the home? If not, someone else may have it.
Coat her whole head in Hellman’s mayo, put a bag over her hair and have her sleep with it in. Take all the bedding and clothing in the house, put them in black bags and put them outside in the sun for a few days.
Also, add tea tree oil to her shampoo
Tons of mayonnaise, wrap with saran wrap for 1 hr. This suffocated & killed them. Rinse. Put vinager in her hair. Wrap for 1 hr. This dissolves the eggs in the hair. Rinse.
Then comb. Shampoo & conditioner the next day.
Worked for my daughter who had long & thick hair.
Have to cut the hair as short as you can. It will grow back. Better than bugs
It seems to me you have not found the source and that is the problem. You are doing everything correctly, and lice are fairly easy to get rid of, if you know where your child is getting them. A couple things to consider are, is this the only family member that has them and could someone with short hair be host carrying them in the home? For instance a older brother with short hair could be carrying a big in from a friend’s house…it won’t live long so it looks for longer hair to set up camp in. If you are infested, then wash and dry on high heat everything, treat everyone with lice medicine for an hour with plastic covering their heads. Vacuum everything including cars and bag up anything that can’t be dried for at least two weeks sealed. Comb everyone’s heads with a nit.comb and baby oil. Repeat the head washing and bedding once a week for two weeks, as well as vacuuming. Most important, find the source.
Dog shampoo… I used to get them alot when I was younger. This helped. Plus you probably have to cut her hair
Fairy Tales Rosemary repel daily shampoo and conditioner
Put all stuffed animals and bedding in closed plastic bags for 3 weeks.
Apple cider vinegar with a shower cap overnight. Vacuum all mattresses and wash all bedding. The vinegar is the best treatment bc you don’t have to worry about combing out all the nuts (eggs) bc it’s easy to miss one and get reinfested. My girls had them and I tried everything!! the only thing that worked was the vinegar
Dollar store lice free spray. Smells like black licorice but it works. Spray all mattresses with it too. Make sure to treat everyone in the home.
Did you try using the straightener in it … My daughter had them and we straightened her hair every day after we used the shampoo and combed them out … It kills all the eggs and the stray lice
2 and a have years of trying everything on the market… only thing I found worked was drastic… kerosene and baby oil. Thou don’t forget all the friends at school, I did a sleep over at ours giving the other parents a chance to do a big clean, while I dosed and combed.
Ps 3 kids all extra long hair, didn’t cut any would’ve hurt them more than the combing for hours. Very attached
Tiny partings and flat iron the hair. Go slowly, it will kill them from the heat and you can use the nit comb to remove the dead. Repeat minimum of 1x daily for 3-5 days depending on hair texture and severity. -licensed professional who has dealt with it and please just ignore all the innacurat information regarding mayo, tea tree etc etc
Blow dryer and straighten it as well. Every day!!
Or a heat bonnet. Put her hair in rollers and dry it like that. Or direct blow dryer and flat ironing
