They say mayo ,works
Long hair daughter here when I was a kid she would use olive oil like the cooking stuff and pour it over our head put a bag over the hair and it suffocated them so still have to pick in morning but is easier to go through.
Garnier fructise shampoo and conditioner
Vinegar will kill those bugs.
Sadly, I had to cut my daughters hair…it was too thick to get them all out otherwise…we also bagged all toys for a month. Went to dollar store and got a few things that could be tossed when her real toys came back from vacation:/
Tea tree oil also work plus repeals them
Cut her hair, buy vamouse the treatment and the shampoo for after. Treat the hair and use the preventative shampoo for the whole family for the next few weeks, bag up everything stuffed animals toys all if it. Wash bedding and curtains thru the whole house, spray down the whole house and vehicles. Buy mattress covers and pillow covers for the whole house. The ones that zip up so they are completely sealed off. Give it a month and it will be all gone completely.
As a single parent I get you. But both times my daughter has had it I didn’t have anyone able to check my hair. So I would color my hair and straighten it everyday for a week to dry out any eggs left. Go your doctor to get checked if you can.
I have to deal with this everything my oldest comes home from her dads. Honestly coconut oil and a hair straightener works the best. Put coconut oil in the hair use the straightener then use a shower cap over night. Wash it out use lice shampoo then dry the hair and use the straightener again. I use the lice comb last and buy that time the eggs just fall off easily.
I went through this with my daughter and we had to cut her long beautiful thick hair. Then we got rid of them. Her hair grew long again!
Be sure to treat everyone in your home! And your vehicle! I feel you, I’ve been through it n felt like it’s never be rid of them. But you will, just keep at it. Spray soft surfaces like mattresses with 91% alcohol. Bag up any stuffed animals or throw pillows, seal it up tight.
Coconut oil Or mayonnaise Rub onto scalp, hair, entire head and cover with bag for as long as she can stand it. Then comb out. It smothers them. Put diatomaceous earth on carpet, mattresses, anything soft that can’t be sealed in bag to washed and dried. It’s pet and people safe and kills the bugs mechanically by cutting into their exoskeleton.
TRY TLC ( the lice crew)
Look into a lice clinic near you
Wash anything that will fit into the washer on hot. Vacuum or steam clean the big stuff. You can get a steamer, like for wrinkled clothes at Walmart. Steam the bed, pillows, furniture, carpets, couch pillows, etc. I’ve heard, there are some “super lice” that are resistant to all the traditional remedies and soaps. I heard someone say that you need to use Nice’n’Easy hair dye. Specifically that brand. Find a color that matches her hair as closely as possible, color, cover in a bag or shower cap, and rinse. I don’t know if it really works. That’s just what she said. Lice can also be on your skin; so scrub there too. For long thick hair, make sure you braid it and wear it up when she’s around other kids to prevent reinfestation.
Old fashioned green sergeants flea and tick shampoo! I lived that nightmare when daughter started school. Then took care of a niece the same way. Put on dry hair, completely saturate, then cover with bag for about 10 min. Rinse and comb all nits out with flea comb… do this once every 2 months as a preventitive.Treat and wash anything furniture, bedding, stuffed animals, ect. The school nurse was amazed she was back and clear after 1 day.
Tea tree oil in coconut shampoo!!
Spinosad. Its amazing. Brand name is natroba
Dawn dish soap , soak it 10-15 minutes rinse well
I’m sure this isn’t the answer your looking for…BUT… My friends daughter got them and she had long insanity long hair and they finally had to cut it all off to get rid of the lice, even prescription meds wouldn’t work… Remember it’s just hair and will grow back♡ …good luck…
Tea tree oil smells awful but works
Vaseline - leave it on hair overnight . This suffocates the bugs and the nits. Only thing that’s always worked for us
Use conditioner with tea tree oil
Don’t forget get to wash car seat and vacuum the car
Soak it in apple cider vinegar
Lice freeeee and the vamousse line are both awesome at treating and preventing lice. Lice freeeee saved my youngest child’s hair, she’s mixed (1/2 white, 1/2 jamaican) and I cried when I found it in her hair from daycare because I knew it was going to be an absolute nightmare with her super kinky curls (dry it’s not even to her shoulders, wet down during bath time it’s to her butt, not exaggerating at all). I used it every day for 2 weeks and nit picked after combing through their hair (you have to nit pick, the comb will miss some nits), treated my house every day by vacuuming and spraying furniture with the home spray from Walmart and putting their bedding in the dryer every morning on the highest heat setting for an hour, bagged stuffed animals air tight for 30 days.
Lice free and HEAT!!! Blow dryer and flat iron!!!
I use cantu leave in conditioner. Put itin gobs and then comb it out with the lice comb. Its not a poison. So it doesn’t hurt the kid and its sment to be left in so it won’t hurt or burn her skin.
Tea tree oil .
Put it in a water bottle spray it everywhere .
Slick her hair back with leave in conditioner and spray her hair with tea tree .
Wash the bedding with tea tree in a hot wash .
Comb her hair nightly with a bit comb conditioner and then spray with tea tree diluted into a spray bottle . Tea tree tea tree tea tree !
You need to get the nits. They stick to the hair. Watch some youtube videos or tik toks. Its a process. Their are people who do it for a living. But you get the nits plus all the other stuff your doing and you’ll get it.
Time for a pixie cut.
I had this same issue about 7 yrs ago. The absolute worse. No matter what I done, they stayed. You’re literally gonna have to sit and go through every inch of her hair to comb and pick things out. Good luck momma. I know this is an extreme mess first hand!
Mayonnaise then wrap with surranwrap
Tea tree oil would be the best
Goo gone works. As weird as it seems, so does condiments. Yea tree oil and coconut they hate the smell of. Keeping hair cut or goes up in a bun or pony tail also makes it hard for lice to “latch” or “stay”
Just things I was told that actually do work
Buy the product Head lice cure.
I had this same problem with my daughter who has very long and thick hair. I mixed white vinegar and salt and soaked her head and then covered her head for 1 hour with a shower cap. Then washed her hair with dawn dishsoap then spent 2 days combing out the eggs and nits. It worked and there were no issues since.
I kept getting lice and had it for like a year straight in 4th-5th grade. Wasn’t until we left nix on my head for 2.5 hours that it was able to kill everything. Ever since, I don’t play around, even when my own kid got it. They say a half an hour. Screw that. 2.5 does it for me.
And of course the vacuuming…the washing of bedding…but definitely bag stuffed animals and other cloth toys. I did it for a month. Sorry kiddo…monkey is going away for a while….
Lice is the worst. Good luck.
Coconut oil is the only thing that’s worked for us. Get the kind that solid until melted. Saturate the hair and tye a grocery bag of it. Leave it as long as possible but at least a few hours.
Use a good metal lice comb and comb until you can’t anymore. Wash with Dawn dish soap, then regular shampoo and conditioner. Comb again to make sure you didn’t miss anything.
Wash all bedding and dry on high heat including any stuffed animals. Spray anything you can’t put in the dryer with the lice spray.
Use the after lice shampoo by Lice Freee daily and comb with metal comb every other day to make sure you get any thing missed or new.
Tea tree oil in shampoo
Don’t forget her eyebrows
Aside from trying to kill the lice, because you are having a hard time, I would suggest making sure her hair is gooped up with some kind of styling product, so they won’t attach to her hair shaft, while you are trying to clear the house and car. Also, washing and blow drying her hair, before smothering her hair in product should help with her actual head.
Are you using lice spray on furniture& bedding and getting new pillows . Also if no meds are working a home perm may work the heating solution should kill them . Also you can coat hair with mayo and cover with a shower cap for several hours to suffocate them .
But some hair dye that is her color!! My little cousin had it and my aunt couldn’t get rid of it. I got a box of hair dye and it helped. Only thing that killed them.
Try going to a lice center in your city. Some places guarantee results or else they re do it until they’re gone.
You have to put everything in plastic bags to completely kill the eggs. Use a little olive oil in her hair to keep the eggs from sticking. Check her friends, also! Parents might not like it, but oh well! I had that issue and it was my daughter’s friend whose parents didn’t follow instructions so she’d get it again.
Mayonnaise and vinegar
May wanna cut her hair so that you can get rid of the lice, her hair will grow back… no super short but if you can’t get them out and you mentioned her hair is super long and thick
I think the answer is clear
Is long hair more important or getting rid of the lice
I got so sick of the process bc my kid would get it at school several times a year in elementary. Finally, I found what works!
Use dawn dish detergent on her hair instead of chemicals (it’s a contact kill 4 insects) then use a flat iron on her hair in small sections… EGGS DEAD:bangbang:
Trust me…
Mayonnaise is the best
Have u tried rosemary or tree oil? There are oils u can add to bedding and to shampoo. Then comb thru it while in the shower. It won’t kill anything to cut her hair a little. It grows back. Remind her to not keep her head close to others along with no sharing anything. Keep her hair up and hair spray!
Last time my kids had lice I used a lice zapping comb. It worked better than any of the treatments we used the first time they had it! The first time I had to order some tea tree formula online because none of the store treatments were working. The zapping comb worked without any treatments. Incredible.
I recommend lice clinic of America.
Sergeants dog shampoo worked for my bfs kids.
Tea tree oil in scalp
If you’re treating and doing everything right and she still has it that tells me that someone outside the house keeps giving it to her. You need to look at her friends you need to look at your family members outside the house because there’s a source.
Get new brushes and combs, buy preventative shampoo and conditioner. run pillows and stuffed animals through the dryer for 30 minutes. Also look into getting vamouse. It’s not harmful for her hair so you can use it as many times as needed, smells like baby powder, and works miracles. Sprinkle salt in your carpet leave for 10 minutes and vacuum it up.
The key is combing and picking. I have 3 girls with thick hair (they’re adults now). They all had it at one point. The most important thing for me was combing and picking out eggs and bugs. I would spend hours doing it. But it worked.
Mayonnaise in the hair. Wrap the head with clear wrap for an hour or so. Wash it out with some tea tree shampoo and then go through her hair again. I just had to go through it as well.
Baby oil will smother them. Keep baby oil inher hair for a good while. Every time u wash her hair, use baby oil afterwards. Wash everything in ur house. Curtains, clean clothes, vaccum, any stuffed animals wash them. Keep repeating until u see no more. Yes put trash bags over pillowes too as ur treating her hair. Wash bedding in hott hott water plus everything else.
Listerine and vinegar
Basic H . Shaklee product. It kills them . It works I promise !!!
Hmmm sounds to me like she keeps regetting it you gotta get rid of her hair ties hairbows an hairbrushes and because of the fact her hair is that long an thick just keeps adding to the problem get rid of that hair it will grow back being shoulder length will help
Hi to hairdresser Er cut hair and have it thinned
Do a perm in her hair
Get nix make sure its thru the hair expecialy the scalp then i wld add mayo and wrap it up with a haur cap or plastic wrap for an hr bag all stuffed animals or dolls w hair keep in for a week WASH ALL BEDDING IN HOT WATER then dry rinse hair out DO NOT USE SHAMPOO OR CONDITIONER and comb you will have to do second treatment in 2 weeks praying you figure it out i know thats what i did w my kids w they had it n gave it too the whole house n we have been bug free since also they can go onto pets so you will have to wash them w dawn dish liquid praying for you head lice is a bitch just like fleas
I use lice shampoo there are different brands just have to find the one that works the one I use is in a green bottle and it worked right away. Keep all bedding clean and keep combing. Also tea tree oil to put in as you comb.
Please don’t cut her hair try the mayonnaise in the shower cap I promise you it works
Olive oil for 3-4 hours every 3-4 days. Wash out with Dawn dish soap and repeat. This will suffocate living louse and then when you repeat it kills any fresh born from making it to reproductive age. Continue for a couple weeks. Spray with tee tree oil in between oil treatments
Tea tree oil in you shampoo
Find a lice clinic. My daughter has extra curly, butt length hair and that was my last resort. Next time, it’ll be my first step!
No joke my girls had super long hair and it was a battle even cps came out. We couldn’t get rid of it I went to the health department got up all they would give me and knocked on everybody’s door lol
Color her hair… Kills them… Treat your house
Heat kills them so after washing then use the dryer all over her head. Get an exterminator in.
Mayo , Vaseline, oil based it sucka to wash out but it kills them let it sit overnight in a shower cap.
My mom never treated us so we had a bad bought about middle school. I was at a friend’s house and we decided to dye my hair. Killed them and I never got them again!
Have you tried veggie oil and a shower cap? My daughter had it really bad once and I got rid of it within a week!!! She has those tight curls so it was harder but what I did was straightened her hair. Brushed it real good then put the veggie oil in her hair. Saturated it. Brushed it once more and then took a lice comb through it. (Make sure you have clothes on you do not care about. Veggie oil gets EVERYWHERE) Once you’re done with the lice comb, put the hair in the shower cap and let it sit for 9 hrs. Take and wash all the clothes in the household. Take all stuffed animals, put them in trash bags and sit them outside. Spray all furniture with the lice spray you can get at the store.
After the 9hrs is up, comb through the hair again, make sure all the bugs are gone. Then wash the hair with the blue dawn dish soap. Do it at least 2 or 3 times a week until they’re gone. The oil will suffocate the eggs and the bugs. Promise.
Home Depot has bombs that kill lice in your home along with other bugs
I spray peppermint oil in my daughters hair everyday before I brush it and I have also been known to bleach my kids hair because if the hair is dead the lice can not live
Flat iron the shit out of her hair after you treat it… Flat iron it several times a day from scalp to the ends on the max heat setting her hair can take it… I’ve been here & I’m sorry you’re going through this
You’re going to have to get an exterminator out to spray the house and car and wash and dry everything in highest heat. Also need to wash all ponytail holders and brushes. Pillows. Backpacks. Everyone’s all thru the house.
Mayonnaise and wrap your head in ceran wrap
I too have long thick hair my mom had to do the mayo treatment in order to rid myself of head lice when I was school age, or maybe a oil treatment would help
Just shave her head if it’s rlly THAT bad. Hair grows back.
You may need to cut it short and thin it out to get rid of the lice
Lice hate oily hair because they can’t grasp onto it.
$150 lice clinic in Murfreesboro, they will take care of the problem
Her hair should def be cut.
Don’t use conditioner for 2 weeks
Use lamp oil or kerosene, but don’t take a shower with that and tilt your head back when rinsing or she’ll regret that. Tilt forward to rinse it out.
The doctor can prescribe something to help I’m sure?
Generic Neutrogena shampoo from dollar general, put on hair dry let sit however long u want to
Use hair grease for ethnic hair, lice HATE hair products
Holly Hill …Lol-ing
Couldn’t resist
Sounds like you’re going to have to cut it unfortunately
Fairytails shampoo and spray at Target?
They have salons that do it!!
Put tea tree oil in her bottle of shampoo.
Cut her hair, you also have to kill lice. Smother them. Take all bedding and clothes and put in garbage bags and tie them up and throw em out for about a week in the heat.
All of her stuffed animals need to be put in trash bags and put in the sun for a couple of days.
Mayonnaise and a feather tooth comb
