I'm living a lice nightmare, help!

Don’t forget to treat the stuffed animals.

Chop it! It’s impossible to get every nit with hair that long and thick

Tea tree oil in your shampoo! I put it in ours every year when the kids go back to school!

Honestly I had this problem with my girls years ago. I ended up calling a lice removal place. It was supposed to be 100 a head but they were doing a study on new combs and did it for free. 100 a head isn’t bad considering all the hard work you have to do

Make sure to throw out the vacuum bags after vacuuming the house.

Treat the whole household. I’ve heard mayonnaise works too.

When my kids were small I ended up spending over $300 I had lice my doctor told me to saturate their hair and baby oil let it sit and just buy a comb to pull the nets out and then wash their hair and Dawn dish detergent did it one time never again did they have lice and the reason is is because we don’t have enough all in our hair like some people do and nets can’t stick to a oil so that’s why he suggested the baby oil

Conditioner works for use, her hair texture is rhicj curly hair.

They have salons that specialize in lice treatments. I would go to one!

The nits stick to clean hair, so use a lot of products like moose and hair spray to make it sticky so the nits don’t stay on the hair. Also blow dry her hair as the heat will kill the nits too.

Mayonnaise for two hours or more
A nit comb and comb out every spot
Take all stuffed animals and bedding and put them in garbage bags for a week to kill anything off
Same with any other cloth items like backpacks or anything.
Mop and sweep or vaccum all rooms.

I legit had lice for two-three years as a kid and this seemed to be the last thing that finally worked.
Also she might be getting it from someone or something?
We figured out it was a family friends house o kept getting it from.
Can also dye her hair since they can’t live through that but I’d still use a nit comb after.

Also check and see if you have any local lice clinics.

Sending all the luck as it’s a miserable thing to go through :purple_heart:

Sevin powder mixed with coconut oil part hair apply put in shower cap for a couple of hours then shampoo

Dye her hair close to the natural
Color.

Cit her hair sometimes it’s the only remedy

Your car do you have cloth seats?

My dr told us to treat, wash, blow dry, and straighten. When you straighten get as close to the scalp as you can.
They can’t survive the heat

Rubbing Alcohol! It smells terrible but it works!

If her hair is really thick get it thinned out it won’t take any length off…cover her head and hair in mayonnaise make sure it’s saturated even at the roots tie a Wal Mart bag or something similar on the head leave on for 2 hours wash the mayonnaise out with warm water then shampoo with the original blue dawn dish soap blow dry Everytime you wash her hair use lice comb through out the process do this 2 times a day for a week if it doesn’t get any better I would seek out professional help

Soak her head in olive oil cover with a shower cap and leave on it at least 8 hours they wash her hair and put a metal comb thru it this will kill bugs and eggs

Went through this a few months ago. I have very thick long hair as well as my daughter I ended up smothering our heads with Vaseline, slept with it over night scrubbed the next day and we’ve been good since.

Cut her hair babe and find a professional to help.

A hair dresser may have no bugs my lady. It’s expensive but works

Use Sauve Coconut Shampoo and then Sauve Coconut Conditioner and don’t rinse it all out. Lice hate anything coconut.

If you call ziggety snippets in gregory hills they do an amazing job at getting rid of them you wont be disappointed and your daughter will be much more comfortable hope this helped

  • Tea Tree Oil does not kill lice, it repels thems.

  • Grab a couple of Super Lice Kits & use only those for treatment shampoos.

  • Wash her hair with only the Lice Shampoo, nothing else.

  • Purchase a Robo Comb to use daily.

  • Keep her hair tied up, never down until they’re all gone.

  • When we had an issue, it took us 6 months to get rid of completely.

To me it sounds like a re-infestation. Treat everybody in the house. Adults can actually just use hair dye to remedy the issue.

Vacuum everything in the house. Wash all clothes, linens, towels on hot water & dry on high heat. Dry all stuffed animals on high heat, as well as rugs. Order a jug or 2 of pest spray that kills lice.

Olive oil and tea tree smother with a cap
For at least one hour

I apply Mayonnaise to their hair and leave it in for about 12 hours. Wash twice and condition. Blow dry hair throughly then flat iron and proceed with a lice comb. Do this daily or every other day and lice will go away fast.

I have always found that using lamp oil and picking the dead/live eggs out help tremendously

Vinegar diluted in water. Spray the head and cover with a plastic bag. Get the sheets off and put it in a garbage bag for 2 weeks, wash in hot water with vinegar :ok_hand:t2: Comb hair after 2-3 hours with a lice Comb. Mix bayrum, Lennon Bergemont and vinegar and add water to the top (500ml spray-bottle) spray head and everything else with this mixture and blowdry hair on the hot setting then flatiron. Spray the mixture daily and wash hair less. Like not more than 2 x a week. Dry immediately after getting wet. That’s the only thing that works for my boys.

Mayo with shower cap and leave on for HOURS. might have to cut her hair shorter

sounds crazy but mayo and a shower cap or a grocery bag tied on the hair overnight, works like a charm

my best advice is thinning her hair and giving her a cut also , then put mayo in her hair overnight with a cap on , also you need to bomb your home , they can live for several days off a host ( meaning a human head) … i had it growing up in school for a year and my parents got to sick and myself also i shaved my head ( parents were pissed but they understood) and then we bombed the house , we also got pure tea tree oil that u can add to any shampoo and conditioner you like and it keeps them away

cut her hair off it will grow back… :pensive::pensive::pensive:

Use olive oil!!! I swear by it.

you can try cutting the hair make it shorter and then apply licealiz shampoo if it’s available. it’s effective.

Olive oil. Find the book from head lice to dead lice

Take rubbing alcohol an comb it threw hair an put a plastic bag over it for about 20 minutes then wash it.

Mayonnaise always worked when my kids got it! There’s lots of good ideas here tho!

Keep her hair braided to lessen exposure.

Cooking oil suffocates them and they slide right out, just keep coming it through until the heads clear. Might take 2-3 scrubs with the shampoo afterwards but works a treat

Make sure you put moth balls in all your vacuum bags/cannisters. It also kills eggs. Works for fleas too

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR all over scalp and hair for 20 minutes. Towel soak up extra vinegar after 20 minutes. Apply LOTS OF OLIVE OIL all over scalp and hair and cover head with a shower cap or tie a plastic bag around head and go to bed. In the morning comb thru hair with a fine tooth comb and then wash hair.
Wash, vacuum and bag all bedding, couch , chairs, stuffed animals etc. Anywhere lice can be.

Mayonnaise, rub in leave in hair all night wrap head in saran wrap or plastic bag tape so it doesn’t fall off. Wash in the morning and use vinegar we had kids that come here and that was the job every time they were here.

Ok. I had this problem in Ark because the school my kids went to was so infested that we couldnt get rid of it for nothing.
Every single time the kids went back to school they got the lice again.

We moved/changed schools.

We thickly coated evetyones hair in mayo and put shower caps on.
Put a towel down over the pillows and let everyone sleep in it overnight.

Yes it stinks. Yes its uncomfortable. But it is the only thing that worked for us. Like you, we had tried everything else too.

Tips: do this a few weekends in a row. Just in case any eggs hatch later or a bug got missed on furniture or something.

Continue to vaccum, spray, treat the whole house during these next few weeks.

Make sure you treat the car too! It is full of carpeting.

Its best to do this on a friday night so you can wash everyones hair with the original blue dawn dish soap saturday and sunday.
The mayo is hella greasy. The original dawn dish soap is safe for use on humans and pets.

Tell your child to be very careful who she comes in close contact with. No hugging friends or sharing clothes, watch for friends scratching, ect.

And make sure your not accidentally allowing other people who wont get rid of thier lice into your home or car or close contact with your family (like hugging).

Lice are miserable and exspensive and exhausting to get rid of. Im sorry your going through this.

Oh also. We all know to bag up stuffed animals sealed tightly for 2 weeks. But dont forget barbie/baby dolls with hair or anything else with a soft or fuzzy surface.

Dawn (blue original) set 5 mins, white vinegar set 5 mins… Condition, comb…

Maybe you can get a prescription from your pediatrician for a stronger medication? Have you tried calling your pediatrician?

Coconut oil for 24 hours in her hair.

Hair straightener helps too. The heat kills them

Color her hair. Worked for me when my daughter gave me lice

This is one for after treatment to prevent it. I find teatree shampoo keeps them away.

You have to treat your whole house and mayonnaise

Years ago, they used kerosene and it really worked!

I’m not sure where you live and I’ve never had to use the place thankfully but there’s a place specifically for getting lice out a few towns away from me.

Maybe there is something like that near you?

Any shampoo with coconut in it or coconut oil

I was told by a hair dresser to use mayonnaise which ot did work

Make sure if she rides a bike to check her helmet too

Lice free its at Walmart, the lice are used to chemicals this stuff works

Pantene conditioner daily left in with shower cap. Comb through sitting in bath. Tea tree oil behind ears. Electric not robi comb

Smother her hair in oils, grease, vaseline, keep it in for 2 weeks, do not wash her hair. Keep it in tight bun styles or braids.

There are head lice treatment centers. Expensive…but they work.

Put a few drops of tea tree oil mixed with coconut oil in a water bottle and spray her hair with it every single day!! It keeps them away

Cut it. Hair grows back.

No Nit Noggins saved us this summer! Pricey but worth it!

Mayo on her entire head and cover overnight with a shower cap. Suffocated them!

Soak head in Listerine.
Wash hair with dog shampoo… avoid eyes

I used a lice zapper comb and black light daily on top of washing/vacuuming daily

Cut her hair first, it will grow back, talk to your pharmacist about using Raid on her head and bedding and anywhere she spends time and probably the whole house as lice can hide in cracks and cranies everywhere

Mayo
Vinegar
Vaseline
Have also heard coke a cola.
Of course dont use these together but these are options I’ve heard work.

Mouth wash with alcohol soak the hair and then wrap in a plastic bag and leave over night, then comb through it and then wash is hot water.

Cover head after mayonnaise is put on with cap wash hair in morning

Try tea tree shampoo followed by tea tree conditioner and lots of it.

Hellman’s real Mayo in hair. Sit with. Shower cap on for an hour and a half

Use the lice freeee from Walmart and a blow dryer

There is something name 7 dust. It work really well. Mix it in any oil and apply on hair within a day ,all lice are dead. Reapply 4 to 5 days after and u are good to go

Most people forget about this, but make sure you clean your cars head rests or car seat depending on age.

Use hair conditioner! The lice cannot stick to it!!

Dye her hair. Lice can’t live on died hair and will die during the process. I know it’s a lousy resolution, but you could pick out a hair dye that matches her hair color and would not be noticeable.

I put a tea tree oil in her leave in detangler. It’s preventative, so I don’t have any actual advice, but I am here for solidarity.

If she has any stuffed animals either get rid of them or put in a trash bag and spray and keep bed linens washed

Olive oil in the hair.

If you are not treating your ENTIRE house and vehicle then you will never get on top of it.

Grape seed oil and vinegar works wonders.

Lister one worked best for us then put 15 drops of tea tree oil in the big 32oz suave shampoo. I put about 10 drops in smaller bottles and use it. Every shampoo in my house has it and we have no issues for 4 years now.

u have to cut her hair bag everything but 7 to 14 days worth of whites bag everything everything for 2 weeks use the anitshampoo after deliceing after treatment dont ware anything u cant bleach throw away or freeze anything and everything u can like stuff u cant wash freeze it for 3 days

You have to cut it… too much hair

Kerosene is the only thing that worked for us🤷🏼‍♀️ look it up. Old school method. We got a hotel and did all of our heads. Combed combed combed. Got another hotel and stayed out of the house for 72 hours. Good luck.

Cut it. Hair grows back

Mayonnaise or Vaseline. It’s got to sit in her hair for HOURSSSSS. and the dyer will kill all the bugs and eggs

If she’s old enough, dye her hair

Have I tried mayonnaise with a bag over her hair home remedy

When treating lice issues in my home in the past. Everyone in the home hair treated. I do not purchase any lice treatment. I have very thick hair, coarse, long and naturally curly. With the said I can’t use a lice comb on my hair. For approximately one week daily I would comb through my children’s hair while they sat in the bath. Wash and applied conditioner. I would comb through in section and changed out my water bowl frequently until I couldn’t find another live bug. Has five children in the home so one could imagine the nightmare at times. All bed lining would be stripped, washed and dried. Mattress would be vacuumed, carpet or hardwood tile floors would also be vacuumed. All stuffed animals would be removed from the rooms, washed, dried and bagged until the lice issue was resolved. All furniture in the home would also be vacuumed daily. It’s exhausting to say the least but the issue can be resolved. My five children are adults with the exception of one whom is almost 17. Now have two granddaughters in the home one in which is biracial (thick, long and curly hair) the other one has long hair as well and while on vacation one year she came back with a head full of lice and before I knew it my biracial granddaughter got them as well as myself. It’s never ending especially when the children are in daycare or elementary school.

You def should consider cutting it.

In my personal opinion shave it all off

Drench her hair in rubbing alcohol and wrap it with a plastic bag for 30-45 min. I know it sounds crazy but it 100% works I assure you.

Mayo, rubbing alcohol, also straighten or curl her hair

Make sure that you’re also spraying your car… and her car seat! People dont think I about that.

Get vamoose kills everything on the head in 15 min and doesn’t dry the hair out

Kitten flea treatment is all I can say wash bedding next day as they will all pretty much be dead on pillow

You have to comb it out! It’s a huge process, but it will stop it.

I’ve heard dying your hair will get rid of them

Use Mayo overbite with shower cap on! Spray your car and everything she is around
