My sister went through this with my niece for 5 months because the staff at school refused to send a girl home who had it when they did lice checks at the school that day.
They tried EVERYTHING on repeat for months and it would always come back. They finally died her hair and cut it shoulder length and went through the combing again and that resolved it.
coconut oil or mayo
always worked for my daughter
Yes that lice free hair Spray worked for me and mine way better than anything else it kills them instantly
When I was 10, I had to get a pixie cut because my mom couldn’t get the lice out so she could comb through my thick curly hair
Call the live squad company specifically comes out to your home and gets rid of them. Also if your not cleaning everything in her room blankets, bed sheets, stuffed ALL of it they will just keep getting worse
Dawn soap, Coca Cola, Mayo and tea tree oil. Saturate her hair, wrap hair with plastic cap/bag and leave over night.
use camphor mixed with coconut oil… keep for an hour and wash with a shampoo… all will go… repeat twice weekly.
When I was younger my family doctor told me to cover my head in mayonnaise and to put a shower cap over it for 48hrs in order to suffocate them, needless to say that didn’t work for me then olive oil on my head for 48hrs with shower cap over it to suffocate them and that didn’t work for me either. I ended up getting this thick syrupy stuff prescribed and it legit smelled like gasoline. I had so many sores on my head from scratching and at this point I had had the lice for over 2 months and the syrupy stuff burned the sores but it did finally kill them! Lice isn’t the same as it was 20+yrs ago. Now it’s super lice, rid and nix isn’t effective anymore
Lice love clean hair, don’t wash her hair everyday, teatree conditioner daily, mouse or hairspray and just keep combing…I know its frustrating but it will eventually end… you can cover her hair in mayo and let it sit for 30 min then comb , something about the mayo suffocated them and makes eggs slide off easy. Be sure to pay special attention to the nape of her neck, by her ears ( pretty much the warmest spots as thats where they tend to lay their eggs). Good luck momma
Mix tea tree oil and coconut oil, like 1 or two drops of the tea tree to like 3 tables spoons coconut oil. Start at the roots and I mean glob it on the scalp and hair, throw a bag or shower cap and leave on over night. Bag any pillows, stuffed animals, blankets for about a week, then wash.
Supplies: coconut oil (cooking section, looks like crisco), 4 cans of lice bedding spray, 2-3 bottles Licefree Spray (walmart or DG), several lice shampoo & combing gel (brand doesn’t matter), a couple of lice combs, BORAX.
Coconut oil (a lot) on hair at bedtime with walmart bag or shower cap on hair. Sleep. Wake up, strip all bedding, curtains, and night clothes- wash in HOT HOT water with regular laundry detergent plus Borax. Dry on HIGH heat (twice). Spray mattress and pillows with bedding lice spray, and if you have carpet spray underneath and around bed. Go wash hair with lice shampoo. Comb out. Blow dry. Spray Licefree in dry hair. Let sit 20 min. Wash with lice shampoo. Comb out. Blow dry. Coconut oil in hair. Comb out. Wash with lice shampoo. Comb out. Blow dry. Repeat until gone. Every time you use a towel, it is dirty and should be washed just like the bedding. Stuffed animals and clothing should be washed the same or stuffed animals in airtight container outside for at least 14 days. 7 days later, sleep in coconut oil again & wash the bedding again and Repeat lice shampoo, comb, blow dry, licefree spray, wash, comb, blow dry. Repeat again 7 days after that.
Have you tried the tea tree shampoo and conditioner from Body Shop? Nits hate tea tree x
I know I’ve seen here (MN) they have hair salons for this. They will wash and comb. It’s a guaranteed service. They only recommended washing bedding and immediate clothing and jackets.
We did massage hair and scalp with apple cider vinegar first then put warm coconut oil and comb hair. Also try to disinfect and change pillow cover and clean bed.
Lather in Coconut Cream then wrap her hair in glad wrap/cling wrap and leave it in, comb hair out with nit comb and they’ll be gone in no time. Consistency is key and keep up the good work with washing and changing bedding, it’ll be over soon.
There is a place in San Antonio that specializes in head lice and seem to do a really good job
I bugbombed the house when all 3 of my daughters had it at once. It was awful
Sounds silly but blue magic hair grease. You can get it at any ethnic hair store. I don’t even use the stuff because it’s soo greasy. I would literally put half the container on her head over night then wash it with dawn dish soap to remove the oil. I would then grease her scalp with an oil and not wash her hair for a week. It will suck but lice hate oil
cover her head with Mayo… it smothers the lice. . its a nightmare. both of my girls had it at the same time… seems like it’s never gonna end
Idk how old your kid is but years ago my mom out kerosine in mine and my sisters hair because she couldnt get rid of lice
Mayonnaise or go to the doctor and get prescription strength permethrin cream
As a mother of 5 daughters and have dealt with this coming from the school, you will have to cut her hair shorter, get the gel and a metal tooth comb, u will have to wash all clothes, stuffed animals will need to be put in a trash back for a week or so, wash all bedding and u will have to scrub ur walls. And use the lice spray for bedding and floors. U will also have to wash the living room cushions and spray them down. Also when u use treatment in her hair, put a bag over her head so they can suffocate. Then comb through until u see nothing left. This sucks but u should also notify whoever she has hung around so those parents can start treatment too. She obviously got it from someone.
Nitty gritty comb best comb I’ve used for the kids. And my daughter has bum length hair.
Listorene mouth wash is meant to be really good too I haven’t tried it though
Then I use a tea tree and water spray on their hair to prevent
Call in a lice expert to comb through the hair, add the treatments, etc. it is worth the extra expense. The stuff over the counter doesn’t work.
Do a hair lice treatment every week for 4 week.
I would cut it shorter , then use the lice spray - the one thst works best in SA is para spray , then u will have to comb and comb and comb them out but that length hair is prob why u are battling
Rubbing alcohol!! Super cheap & works fastest. Just don’t get it in her eyes.
Have you tried mayo. Alot of it caked into her hair and a bag put around it tightly to suffocate them best you can and then comb through with the mayo in her hair and try this repetitively? Twice a day I beleive my daughter has had lice a few times but it worked for her super think and long hair
Load the head up with conditioner and comb through. Do daily for a few days then every three days or so. Only thing I ever used. I never did the whole change bedding daily or bag up stuffed and put in freezer. My children both had super long thick hair, never had to cut it.
Go to her pediatrician and get the Rx it was the only way I could get rid of it when my daughter had it
Lice don’t like to work. Put products like creams or some oils in her hair and then style in snug styles like buns, or braids to discourage them from making a home in her head. Then continue cleaning as you have been. You can also dust everything with diatomaceous earth.
Spray bottle fill with alcohol and put about half a bottle of lavender. Soak hair let it stay in over night. Rinse condition and comb. Everyday after keep a little lavender in her hair. Sounds crazy but I beat lice this way after months. Even spray furniture with mixture
As a kid we used rubbing alcohol it dries out the hair and scalp so you have to condition later but rinse with hot water. it works my mom put it on r head tied r long thick hair in a grocery bag and let it sit and did once a day till it was gone for about an hr. We had four girls all with long thick hair. Although my mom never caught it cuz she used a curling iron to style her hair daily and hair spray. Heat is chemical free. The bags r a good idea but I wud leave them for a few wks cuz the eggs take longer to die out maybe throw a few drops of alcohol. I’m sure Walmart or target also sales foggers for rooms they are pretty effective and only like $10. Good luck
There are salons who specialize in this . My daughter took her daughter to one a while ago.
We lived out of huge trash bags for two weeks when I got them. Everything was washed and bagged up. Stuffed animals, clothes, blankets, and pillows. We got our clothes out in the morning and tied the bags back up. Vacuum twice daily .
We found a product in our local Walmart that worked for our daughter, she battled it for two years and was extremely sensitive to everything. I am not close by the product to take a picture of it (will do that when I get a chance) what we did was use a shampoo that has tea tree oil infused in the formula and then put this product as we were drying her hair and it was safe enough to use everyday. We are a year out of the last treatment and we have not had an issue since.
Vinegar! It helps kill them and it helps tremendously with combing the nits out
It’s been years since, that Diatomaceous earth is great
My hair is down to my butt when my kids had lice and gave it to me I put an entire bottle of dawn platinum in my hair put a store bag on like a shower cap and left it soak for like 14 hours, they all were killed. Bag up every soft item in your house and just shove it in the basement or on the porch or something until you get the hair and house under control.
Go online and buy the terminator metal lice comb. It will pull literally everything out.
Those plastic combs do not work, and the regular metal ones do not always get the nits and newly hatched ones out.
Remember every strand go down, from the underneath, and from each side.
Try soaking her hair in baby oil and putting a shower cap on it for as long as you can! Someone may have already said that but I don’t want to read all the comments LOL
Cheap cooking oil soak her head put a shower cap on and leave all night long work for me
We found the school kept giving it back to us and we thought it was us. When we moved the problem went away.
Everyone in the house needs to be checked and treated accordingly. Don’t forget to vacuum the car and wash the car seats
It’s a hot shot bug spray for fleas lice you can use it on human and dogs
Brushes have to be replaced or washed with rit stuff or you’re re infecting her over and over. The whole house sounds like it needs all animals and people out and bombed with something that would kill lice. There’s companies in some towns that do this stuff and you also need her treated again along with all of you being treated for lice. There are places that do this or you do it the otc way yourself. If she has it that bad you all do. It will be passed on in school and get worse
Vaseline!! I swear by it. Cover her head with Vaseline and cover her head with a bag for a couple of hours, then wash and comb out with dish soap. Lice live in clean hair.
Heat, heat, heat
Blow-dry and flat iron daily
Put all stuffed animals and pillows in the dryer for 30 mins
All natural flea an tick spray out the dog section at Walmart! Spray it all in her hair! Works wonders!
Drench her hair in vaseline oil for hours. Drown them.
You definitely need a NITTY GRITTY comb it’s amazing at what it does!
Put coconut oil on hair and scalp, leave overnight, wash next day. Repeat every few days.
You may have to cut it. But what I found best was a mayonnaise wrap.
I had them so bad in middle school that my mom had to put kerosene on my hair.
treat the head with lice medication , then comb through it - dry the hair - and go through each piece of hair with a hair straightener/iron on the HIGHEST setting.
You can buy pure tea tree essential oil its pretty cheap. Rub this into her scalp daily. They will all die and so will the eggs. It definitely works its better than the chemical ones.
Have you tried a hair straightener, tea tree oil in her shampoo
See if there’s a lice clinic in your area! They’ll use special lice products and then comb it all out until there’s none
Putting Gel or hairspray helps, even dying the hair, and getting the hair cut and thinned out, put tea tree oil in her shampoo will help as well
Start over, hate to say it, but shave it… Sometimes there is no other option…a cute hair style like an A-frame would be a great cover up in place of saying, I had to cut it bc of lice… Just a suggestion… Don’t bash me
When my son got lice it was easy to get rid of from him but I could not get it out. The only way I did was with heat. I use the hairdryer for like an hour and we didn’t have a problem after that
Be brave mama and cut it. It’ll grow back but you gotta get rid of the bugs.
Once you get it treated blow dry her hair and use products on it. I have heard that will keep the lice away.
Do it the old fashion way, and pull them sucker’s out manually, one by one might take time but it works.
Call the lice dr. Or a professional lice removal service. They even go to your home and remove it and even most have money back guarantee or retreatment if it doesn’t get rid of them the first time.
Takes multiple lice shampoo attempts. If you don’t get all the eggs. Try washing it with the lice shampoo once a week then will be in the clear in two weeks.
They sell bombs for lice. I bombed the house and did kids hair and haven’t had problems since.
Have to cut her hair /: and literally wash everything in the house from curtains to carpets etc. Mayo for 24 hours works best
My mom put Mayo in my hair and left it over night two night in a row and that was the only thing that worked!
My daughter had a huge issue for 4 months my last resort put maynaise in hair plastic bag over for an hour then come it out.it worked cover furniture with plastic you have to suffocate them
Okay so here’s a few things we did at my house.
-haircut (had a beautician friend make a house call chopped off 6 in. and used the thinner hair tool)
-Called a local exterminator and had them do an ozone treatment in the house (ozone takes oxygen out and replaces with STINKY ozone but will kill ANY LIVING THING in your house. All pets, plants and people must leave the house during the process and for a few hours after but it WORKED)
-after ozone treatment we washed everything (cuz ozone STINKS)
-we now use shampoos with tea tree oils cuz lice hate that crap.
We went through this with 4 kids. Nothing worked until we did mayonnaise.
Gonna sound crazy but peanut butter the oil in the peanut butter releases the eggs from the hair
If all fails I tried any type of conditioner and depending on how bad I usually leave in over night or out in before school and put in platts for school and comb it through and before and after u out in. But if leaving in for 2 hours it does help and then comb through before washing out and wipe with a towel that will get washed on a wash of it own and then once washed out comb it again.
The only other thing I can think of is comb once in the morning and once before bed but need damp hair (suggest to use spray bottle). To help stop the lice so can get them with a comb. If not get tea tree oils and put in spray bottle with water and will help
Olive oil in a shower cap overnight. Only thing that worked for several people I know. The oil smothers the lice.
I put the lotion Cetaphil in my hair yrs ago and put a shower cap on for a couple hrs. They was dropping dead so quick.
I had same issue when I was a kid. Doc recommended we cut my hair shoulder length and then keep treating. Put extra clothes, pillows and blankets in trash bags
Tea tree oil and coco butter! Leave it in there for a few hours and it will smother them
If you have a pet, it should also be treated because animals can carry lice
my parents used fresh coconut milk. just soak it in hair for a few minutes then rinse off
Tea tree oil. Spray bottle with water spray and spray brush or comb hair
Do not shave her head or cut her hair. This can be solved.
Use oils in her hair so they can’t stick. It will help deter them.
My sister and I and my mom all had it at the same time when I was younger her boss told her 50/50 mix of cheap hair gel and salt caked on our heads with a cap over it for about an hour while she cleaned everything… never had it again. Also recently had to do this on my 9yr old who has extremely thick hair and it worked for her too
Coke a cola on the head for an hour… real coke ain’t an off brand!
I know it’s not ideal but if nothing else is working I know a family that literally had to shave their daughters head bald and fog bombed their house. And clean EVERYTHING.

A friend had the same problem. After treating the hair, she’s blow dry it and use the straightener. I think the heat helped pop the nits
Usually when it lingers there’s something fabric in your home going unnoticed. Like stuffed animal or headbands
After lice treatment shampoo blow dry the use a hair straightener
Saturate her hair in mayonnaise and clip a plastic bag on it for 24 hours.
Pour a bottle (or two or three) of apple cider vinegar all over her hair and through her hair. Wrap her hair and scalp in plastic and let sit for twenty minutes before washing out. Do this every day for a week.
Wash all her bedding, toys, clothes, backpack, purse straps, etc (anything that touches her around her shoulders, neck and head area) even jewelry in scolding hot water.
Try Lice MD it’s the only thing that worked when one of my kids had it
I wonder if bombing the place would work like you do with roaches?? They’re so little itd be damn near impossible to get the all
Straighten and pick/comb before shampooing and again after the best shampoo I’ve found is NYDA you leave it on while they sleep and wash out in the a.m
Straightening the hair fries the nits makes them easier to pull out. I use a cup of vinegar to douse my comb after every swipe…
Take everything out of her room and bag Stuffies for min 10-14 days, wash and dry all fabrics that you can. Spray tea tree oil and hot water on beds and carpets then vacuum and dump the vacuum right away.
We have a company that does it for you and stays with you until it’s gone.
Coconut oil… completely lather hair then put a shower cap on overnight…Smothers them and makes running the comb through easier
There’s a company called Lice Troopers, see if you have one in your area. They will treat your home as well as you can take her to their company and they will treat her hair.
She must be getting reinfected? Assess where she is going and what she is exposed to. Treat everyone in the house and do all linens, furniture (including car) and soft toys.
Blow dry her hair. It’s supposed to kill them. At least like 96% of everything.
Me and my son had it about 2 months ago and I bought the SPRAY and it went away.
