My son is 21 months and never calls me mum or anything like that… it was his first word, and mumbled it a lot just because it was all he knew and now he doesn’t say mumma or dada.
He literally only says please, ta, more and car.
Awe is she your first they do that it’s horrible but mine call me Mama still every once in a while and it’s so wonderful

My daughter started calling me Momeh as a teenager so she could still call me mommy around her friends. She’s 22 and I’m still Momeh

To clarify his father and I started dating when my step son was just 18 months, his dad always calls me babe, so Thats what he calls me too. Yes he knows my real name but REFUSES to call me by it🤷
My kids have never called us mom and dad they’ve always said our first names. Some people hate it but it doesn’t bother me. I personally think the mom and dad is a little weird and nowadays gross.

It’s sad but it’s a part of their growing up. You go from Mama, to Mommy, to Mom, but hopefully not Mother. My 13 year old still calls me Mommy more than Mom. My 25 year old calls me Grammy, since he’s got a son now.
My boys didnt stop calling me mommy until around 8… and that hurt. But I still have my baby (4), so in a few years I may cry my eyes out…

It could just be that her language is developing, and it a great sign that she’s learning and growing.

My 9 and 11 year old sometimes refer to me as dude. Which is probably my fault in retrospect. It’s definitely hard when they transition between different forms of mom. I have learned however with the youngest that she calls me mom, momma or mommy based on needs or feelings. My oldest is my bonus child so I have the same understanding with different forms of my first name.
My 11 yr old asks all the time when she can start calling me mom. I tell her not now and maybe never. Lol. I am not ready for that.

Let your child determine what they feel comfortable calling you. Be glad you have the child to call you mom. There are several parents who would love to hear any form of mom.
My 6 year old will call me mother…then follow it with the mother knows best song from tangled. It’s normally when she wants something but gotta love being referred to as a disney villain
The day I became “dude-mom…” LOL but just be grateful they still call and appreciate every stage.
Mine tried to call me mom around age 10 and I told her no it’s mama lol. Then at age 11-12 she just started doing it but I didn’t always register it. Now it’s mama when she wants something lol I’ll take what I can get.
My daughter called me mama then just stopped at around 16 months, she started again one day out of the blue when she was about 23 months

I know I sound goofy but I can’t stand when young adults and teenagers and some adults call their parents mommy and daddy, just sounds childish to me. Sorry, just my opinion.

My girls grew up and are in their twenties and they mave started calling me Mama again❤. Hang in there. They come up with their own endearments.

My oldest Son called me by my name for years. At first he would say dad and then Lisa but he started to call his dad by his name too. He heard our real names more often than mom and dad. When he was about 5 we had to make him stop. He did this for several years. Now we are mom and dad again!!!
