Is it normal to run a fever after shots?

I just wanna get some reassurance. My baby is four months old. 9.12 ozs and got shots today. She’s running a fever of 102. I gave her 1 ml of Tylenol. I really just wanna double-check.

Completely normal. If it hits 103+ I’d call the pediatrician or take her into the ER just to be safe. But it’s absolutely normal. Should break within a few hours.

It is 100% normal for a fever, but not that high. Please get the little one seen and do not listen to any of the anti vax nutcases because they want unhealthy children.

The doctor should of given you a paper. But yes it’s normal. Just monitor her. If it gets to high, take her in. Like warm bath helps. Motrin and Tylenol. Alternate back and forth. Unless that’s changed

Yes and I think you’re undernedicating. Call your child’s pediatrician so that they can give you the correct dosage

Yes, it’s normal. In the future be sure to give your baby Tylenol or Motrin about 30 minutes prior to going for shots. It will stay in front of the fever, so it won’t be as high. It’s normal, it will subside soon.

Yes it happens just keep a cool wash cloth close and dab the wrists or the neck.

Rise in temp yes. Fever not really. 102 is high. If Tylenol doesn’t lower that then call the dr.

Yes it’s typical. I give mine Tylenol about an hr before the shots every single time!

Yes it’s normal. Next time give her Tylenol about 30min to an hour before she gets shots.

I had my doctor only do one per visit. Just ridiculous to give three to four shots at a time.

Yes but if it gets to high call the doc

Nice cool bath but throw some ice cubes in there. Fun to play with and it’s not a big as a cold bath.

It’s normal my pediatrician would tell me the Tylenol dose appropriate for my child’s age at the time, this can help with fevers and pain. Reach out to them!

Yes. Put her in a like warm tub and dress her/him in just a diaper to bring down their temperature

Yes it won’t last long it’s normal. Happened to my little guy when he was about 6 months.

It can be normal but check with a doctor. Babies can have adverse reactions, especially at that young age.

Any reaction, even a fever, is not normal.

Jesus are all yall for real…
Yes a low grade (99.9) fever is normal.
102 is NOT normal.that is called reaction and should be reported.

It’s normal just take her to the doctor.

Anything over 100 you should call your doctor. 102 is never normal even with shots

102 is pretty high for the age and after having shots. I would be getting her checked out.

Yes make sure she is drinking her milk and that she is wetting her diapers. Keep an eye on her temperature. And check to see if her leg is red or swollen where she received their shot .Call the doctor’s office they will have the on call doctor call you back so you can talk to them and answer your questions.

Yes, fever can be a normal immune response after vaccines. She can have 1.25ml of Tylenol every 4-6 hours. (No Motrin until 6 months old). You can also try a luke warm bath and keep baby undressed. If the fever gets higher than 104, she becomes inconsolable for more than 3 hours, or low grade fever lasts more than 3 days you should get her seen.

My daughter at her 9 month visit, had her 3 shots. For a week, she had spiking fevers of 100-102. We did Tylenol and ibuprofen per doctor and also brought her in after a couple days of it only getting worse and my missing out on work. They did the works of covid testing, flu, strep, anything you could think of snd it was a reaction to one of her shots. So at her 1 year appointment we did her shots, one at a time and she didn’t have any type of reaction at all.

Normal reaction to poison.

Take her to the doctors/hospital now.! That temp is too high for bub especially at 4 months old.!

When I did vaccinate, mine never got fevers from them. But like someone above said low grade 99.9° is normal not 102° I’d personally call the Dr.

No that is to high!!

It is not normal, it is common. Please listen to baby’s body and dont administer any more vaccines. Please do not give Tylenol either. Tylenol makes it harder for baby’s body to detox the vaccines.

102 is not normal. I would take her in.

It’s normal but a little high take her in to be safe

Definitely call your doctor

Temps are common after shots. But you should call a nurse at the very least and get an opinion they will ask you some questions. Personally, if you are worried take baby in to see the dr. Listen to your mama instincts. If it feels off to you never hurts to double check with a doctor.

Check with your child’s pediatrician

102 is high for a little baby under 6 months of age. However a fever is completely normal no would place a call with the on call pediatrician for your child’s office and see what they say.

Ask for the vaccine insert next time before you get your babies next set of shots! Know the risk you are taking! Hope your baby will be ok

Just call and check. Fevers can be normal
But that seems kinda high.

Not normal. Please read the manufacture label. Please report to Vaers.

102 fever is too high for getting shots. Alternative Tylenol with Motrin every 4 to 6 hours. If fever doesn’t go down go see a Doctor. Definitely don’t let it go up anymore.

Yea 100% normal for the first day or two. Keep up on Tylenol and liquids

My son is vaccine injured & I gave Tylenol for everything. I have researched a lot to it. To each their own but I would highly suggest not to use Tylenol anytime before, during and after shots. Acetaminophen opens up the blood brain barrier allowing all those vaccine ingredients through to the brain. Acetaminophen also depletes glutathione which is your body’s own antioxidant in the brain. Without that it can lead to brain inflammation and brain injury.

I would give epsom salt baths (to pull out the toxins and heavy metals) colloidal silver (for fever) and and research the ingredients if you haven’t.
Keep close eye on baby especially during sleeping time. We went to the ER and all they gave was Tylenol for both our sons’ high fevers.

Check with their doctor but my daughter always has

Yes it’s normal. Give baby a Luke warm bath and see if that helps. You can also give Tylenol. If the fever hasn’t broken by tomorrow morning you can take baby to urgent care to be looked at

Please call Pediatrician. Never get medical advice on FB, especially for your babies!!!:woman_facepalming:

102 degrees is never normal. Please call the pediatrician.

Absolutely normal, my doctor always suggested I give them Tylenol a little bit before the appointment so it has time to work.

A low grade fever is common, 102 is a bit high. I’d be calling someone with a medical degree.

Pediatric nurse here….Fevers after vaccines is expected. Its the immune response activating and creating those antibodies. Your baby is 9lbs (4.090kg). Tylenol dosage is 15mg/kg. Tylenol concentration is 160mg/5ml. Your baby needs approx 61mg = 1.9ml
Hope this helps!

Fevers ARE common after receiving shots. Get recommended dose of Tylenol from the pediatrician based on baby’s weight.

Mine did for a little while after shots. Not Everytime but a couple of times

Vaccine injuries are very real. Give bitty a cool bath and watch for seizures.

I always gave my son a dose of Motrin before his shots and every 6 hours (I think that’s the dosing schedule) for the first 24 hours after and he NEVER ran a fever.

Mmm I’d check with a doctor, no children are the same. 102 is pretty high, 103 they need medical help as quickly as possible. Call 811 (or whatever telehealth is available in your area.) When ever I’m in doubt I call 811 and they are incredibly helpful. When it doubt talk to experts.

Alternative ibuprofen and Tylenol

I always used to give my baby girl Tylenol before the doctors appointment to keep the fever away. It’s always worked super well and she’s never run fever from shots

Not normally that high. Give tylenol. If it doesn’t go down I would take her to urgent care or the ER just to make sure or even just call the after hours nurse and get advice. Do not give a cool bath!

It is normal, but just keep an eye on her to be safe.

Be careful of seizures with it being so high. I’d take her to the hospital

Absolutely normal Panadol or Nurofen lots of tlc will be unsettled for a couple of days

Yes but be careful of a high fever, my one year got her MMR vaccine and she had shots in the morning and that night had a febrile seizure her temp when the EMTs took it it was 103 something

Yes, it’s quite normal

Note to add none of my babies had an experience to shots like that and every baby is different just please watch her through the night it might go down or it may spike up you never know, I never knew a fever could trigger a seizure but I was wrong that night

Some fevering is normal after getting shots but for a baby under 6 months that’s too high he or she can have what’s called febrile seizures due to his or her fever being at 102

Yes it is normal. They say you should give them Tylenol before they go and get their shots.

My oldest son had a fever after his shots when he was a baby, I took him to the ER and all they did was administer Tylenol and send us home. He ended up actually being sick with RSV but the other symptoms had not started yet.

The only vaccination that has caused a fever for my son was MMR.

With that being said I would keep a close eye on her and if the fever lasts for more then 24 hours from time of the shot call your doctor.

Ys but if temp don’t go down ad goes over 103 take to er

I used to wipe my kids down with limacol to get rid of fevers or my nana used to swear by bay rum

Yes it’s normal but shouldn’t last long. Just keep an eye on the temperature and give as needed.

My daughter’s pediatrician told her to give her girls Tylenol before she took them to get their shots, but that was nineteen years ago

It won’t last long mama, and 2.5 ml of Tylenol is the right dosage.

I used to give Tylenol before the shot to help with fever. Then afterwards if needed

Usually not that high

Yes it’s normal. Pediatrician said to give Motrin or Tylenol before shots & if fever persists you can rotate Motrin & Tylenol every 2 hours.

It is normal to have a fever after vaccines. Check his temp an hour after giving tylenol and ser if it is going down. 102 fever is not that high for children

It happens. If it gets to 103 and isn’t controlled by Tylenol take her in ASAP

Yes. That means her body is doing what it’s supposed to

My son had fevers up to 104.5° with some of his vaccines. I recommend doing luke warm showers holding her to help bring the fever down as well as alternating Tylenol and Motrin.

Totally normal but it’s shouldn’t be too high. You know you’re child better than anyone, to if you think something isn’t right call the doctor put yourself at ease. Tylenol or Motrin will bring it down and lots of Mommy cuddles too.

Yes the same thing happened to my baby. Tylenol every 4 hours.

Yes but if it gets any higher i would call your pediatrician my almost 3 year old son was miserable after every single dosage of baby shots and ran fever for atleast three days afterwards my daugther whos almost 2 was fine until her 1 year old shots she ran a fever for two days after those but i think it may have been her flu shot everytime i get the flu shot i get ill and my 7 month old ran a fever his last round but every other time before that was fine

Yes and expect some fussy moments and baby may get a little clingy, too. All normal, just keep baby’s fever down, well hydrated, and rested. May last about 24 hours or so.

Yeah just keep an eye on them. Lots of cuddles. Hugs to you mama!

Very normal as long as they don’t have any underlying health conditions. Your insurance card should have a 24hr nurse line you can call if you get too nervous

I would be concerned if the doctor didn’t tell you this. But yes it’s completely normal

Very normal. Our pediatrician always had me give the kids Tylenol before the appointment. Praying baby feels better soon

Yes my daughter had fever after her shots

Yes it is normal as long as it’s not high temps
