My boyfriend will not change my cat litter

Get rid of cats :woman_shrugging: I hate cats and would refuse too. Wear gloves and mask if your concerned or get rid of them.

I did my cats litter all of the time when pregnant lol.

There are safe ways to clean the tray. Glove up, mask up and get going.

Put on some rubber glove and clean it yourself  it’s more unhealthy to leave a stinking litter tray sitting

Infants are usually highly sensitive to cat dander and fur! 3 cats are too much for an infant’s respiratory system to handle when arriving into this despicable world! Find homes for the cats immediately! Get them out of the house and clean clean clean! AND GET RID OF THE DAMNED MAN! It’s not about your well being darlin’ it’s about that baby!

It’s not that big of a deal you just don’t wanna change your cat litter lol. Put on some long gloves, get two bags, start scoopin’.

I would’ve never got involved with someone who doesn’t like cats in the first place.that’s a red flag that this relationship isn’t gonna last.those who dislike animals tend to be mean to them.

I have changed cat boxes while pregnant didn’t hurt me or my kids. Honestly my opinion they are your cats in your house if you can’t care for them and expect him to come do it then maybe you should chose cats or kid. Yes I love cats but wouldn’t expect someone else to care for my two cats

He is right it’s not his responsibility or problem. Put gloves and a mask on and obviously wash your hands after.

A tad overdramatic in my opinion. It’s like your searching for the tiniest thing. Wear a mask. I can understand that your searching for that validation from the man who is supposed to love and protect you. It is strange he refuses. I hope he treats you well in all other aspects. Definitely take a step back and make sure that he is.

If you think it is that dangerous you should consider getting rid of the cat. Some people really don’t like cats.

Everyone dragging the partner . Remember that he does NOT live there- he’s trying to take care of his sick mother aswell as having a partner and preparing for a child with this partner.

He also does NOT like cats (still unruled if mom had the cats before the relationship or got them knowing he wasn’t going to do anything for these cats)
Mom KNEW he despises them.

Also please remember that 24WEEKS = 6 MONTHS…

Change your own litter. Put on gloves

Girl stop. Those are YOUR cats not his, you know he hates cats so why ask him to change it, there are so many different ways to change the litter in a safe way, I did it pregnant, you’re comparing some animals that he hates to the child he’ll love and created. If you’re that worried about it then you need to either get rid of the cats or get a self cleaning litter box. He already has to care for his mom, that’s hard enough why make him do something he hates

You can’t be serious right now
Change it yourself :joy:
You’ll be fine
You have a higher chance of getting in a car crash than contracting toxoplasmosis yet I bet you still travel in vehicles

I’m pretty sure many, many women change their own cat litter when pregnant. My friend did it, I had a cat many years ago and I did it pregnant. I think you are being extra about the entire situation. Change the litter you’ll be fine. I’m sure he’ll be a good dad. How can you compare him caring for a baby to a cat? Plus you must of known he didn’t like cats in the first place. If you are that concerned have a friend or family member do it.

I’m wondering if single mothers get rid of their cats if they’re going through pregnancy alone. I would hope they would just take greater precautions in caring for the cat instead. I would be more worried about when the baby arrives having the cat near it. Make sure they’re separated at all times.

Baby or cats!!! rescue center. He won’t do it ever.

You’re right. It is dangerous for pregnant women to inhale the used cat litter. And my boyfriend hates doing it too. I have 3 cats with 4 litter boxes (Because you should have 1 more litter box than you have cats I seen on My Cat from Hell.) But after I complain enough he will do it for me. Lol.
And its not that I want to get out of cleaning the boxes. I’d much more prefer I do it than him because I feel like it would be done more often and thoroughly cleaned. But I’m not risking a parasitic infection that can cause miscarriage or malformed babies. Im 26 weeks pregnant with twins.

Now as of this week I’m in the hospital the rest of my pregnancy so he will have to be doing the litter boxes.

Boy have I got some news for you :joy:

It’s only dangerous if you ingest it so if you’re thinking about eating the cat litter then you have to worry in the meantime get your big girl knickers on and Don some rubber gloves and change it yourself.

You better check that he is actually taking care of his mom

If you wear gloves to change the litter I don’t think it will be harmful.

Make sure to wash hands thoroughly after and mask and gloves would help too.

I wore a mask and gloves

I kinda agree with him. If they’re your cats, they’re your responsibility.

I changed the litter box during my both of my pregnancies. You just need to be careful. My husband couldn’t do it because he was always working. There’s probably a lot more dangerous things you are doing regularly than the litter box. Good luck.

Just be extra cautious when changing the cat litter, if your that worried wear a mask and gloves etc

Those cats are not his responsibility. Figure it out or get rid of the cats.

I’ve changed my cats litter while pregnant do a small clean a day with Windows open and wash your hands, as long as you don’t leave it for days on end to fester in which case the ammonia will infect your house, also cats arnt babies ffs my fella hates cats but he’s a great dad, your pregnant not disabled just sort your own damn cats out.

I don’t like cats and personally wouldn’t want to change someone else’s cats litter box :woman_shrugging:

Wear a mask and gloves. If you have had these cats awhile and they are strictly indoor if they have toxoplasmosis you likely already contacted it before pregnancy anyway in that case it won’t harm baby still be extremely careful.

Soo if your partner dosent visit for a few days or even a day who cleans the litter then or do u leave it there for your kitties to use dirty litter??? Annndddd imo your cats your responsibility…… and u really shouldn’t compare a cat and a child :face_with_peeking_eye:

Mask up and glove up, make sure you wash your hands afterwards. How’d you think single pregnant women get on with it?

Im with everyone else, put a mask and gloves on and do it yourself.
Make sure when baby is home the cats are kept away, its not always safe.

They are not his cats. He does not like cats. They do not live at his house. They are YOUR cats. They live at YOUR house. They are YOUR responsibility.

And you’re afraid of how he going to treat the baby? Because he is refusing to change YOUR cats litter boxes? If I were him, I would be afraid how you are going to treat the baby. Ya know, pawning the responsibilities off on someone else. :woman_shrugging:

Yeah I wouldn’t do it if I were him either but I also hate cats, they’d be gone! Also if you are so worried about contracting something from them then why aren’t you worried and your newborn when she’s born? even unborn if you were that worried you’d get rid of them.

Wear a mask and gloves some as that! You make due with what you got if he’s not man enough to do it!

I used to wear gloves and wash hands well when I changed ours when pregnant and I was perfectly fine. Maybe wear a mask for extra protection but you should be fine. Sounds like someone has been scare mongering about cats and changing boxes. I volunteer at a cat rescue and we’ve had kittens bought in from pregnant owners because the midwife said don’t have cats, it’s just really stupid and sad for the animals who don’t know why they’ve been rejected. We had four cats whilst I was pregnant and I did get tested for toxoplasmosis but it came back negative.

Your cats Your responsibility I agree with your OH if you don’t want to change there litter time for them to go

I still changed my cat litter when I was pregnant (I didnt have to do it often cos my cats prefers going outside) as long as u wear gloves and the thoroughly wash ur hands after u will be fine.

Your cat your responsibility your pregnant not disabled. Take care while you do it. We’re gloves mask if your that bothered get litter tray liners for easier disposal. Only 2 options suck up and do it or rehome them. Yous don’t live together and not joint pets

Okay so why dont you just wear gloves and mask and do it your self…stop using pregnancy as as a excuse and get on with it. And yes hes right they are not his cats they are yours…your responsibility just because your pregnant dont change anything.

I changed the cat box throughout all four of my pregnancies… pop a mask on and do it if he doesn’t or buy a self cleaner…
You also won’t catch the illness from their litter box if they’re indoor cats. You have a higher chance catching it if your cats are outdoor cats.

I also have 5 cats so you can imagine the cat litter.

Oh jeez. Throw a mask and some gloves on and change your cat box

Wear gloves and a mask and wash your hands. You’ll be OK. Hopefully this is just with cats, Hopefully he’ll change the diapers.:woman_shrugging:

Is he gonna be that way with a dirty diaper too :flushed:

I sure hope you don’t toss your cats because that’s pretty heartless if you do, like other people said use gloves and wear a mask, you’ve got bigger problems when he has to change diapers…

What in the Napa Valley Hills did I just read :woman_facepalming:t2:

If you’re not changing your cats litter, maybe you should rethink a few things and not treat your poor man like shit over something he didn’t even want to commit to in the first place. There’s a huge difference between HIS baby and YOUR cats. Smh. Go eat ice cream cause you probably just hungry and hormonal.

I think it’s petty he doesn’t do it for you and you’re petty for making a post because he don’t want too

I mean, the baby will be his so he’ll be more inclined to take care of it.

If you’re that worried about the danger of cats while pregnant, you should rehome them. He didn’t sign up for cats. It’s astonishing that you’re dating and having a baby with someone that hates cats, and then demanding that he take care of them for you.

The way it is unfortunately. You can’t make him do it. He’s aware it’s dangerous, it’s just the fact he doesn’t care. I had 2 cats as well and my ex hated them. Pregnant and would not help me change it. I had to

I’d be upsettttt. If it’s FACTUALLY unhealthy for you to do something while pregnant then it’s not that hard for him to accommodate and help you out a little bit  kids ARE a bigger responsibility and I hope he realizes that the responsibilities for a kid don’t just start once the kid is born

I’ve had cats all my life and had 2 babies. My husband has never changed the the litter. And I never expected him to. I did it all through both pregnancies. There’s no issue as long as you wash your hands after. It’s only the poo that can be toxic. And as long as you don’t play in it you’ll be fine

Inez Ybarra uhm yes it is, he is the father

A lot of you have high hopes for someone who doesn’t even live with her. Lol I think at this point, we probably know what’s going to happen with the baby situation

You can’t make him but you can get a mask at home depot etc that builders use and wear it while changing the cats. I did

… your worried about him not taking care of his child because he won’t care for YOUR cats!? Taking care of someone’s animals is VERY different from taking care of your own child. It’s super petty that you’d even make the comparison

He should think enough of you to change the litter boxes. It’s not a big deal. Feel sorry for your cats because they most likely sense he doesn’t like them. Poor babies.
It’s too bad you’re pregnant by someone with his attitude. You’re in for a bumpy ride.

Holy cat shit, I’ll do it for you grace

Get the doc to tell him or show him the research.

I’ve had to do it myself each pregnancy. I would just hold my breath and take step backs while doing it. But you can just put on a mask and gloves.

Some of these comments gosh. Hey honey I’m not gonna come left at your neck like some of these comments, if your boyfriend can’t do you a favour like that then just stop asking. I’m not sure if you have difficulties with your pregnancy like SPD or certain materials you have become allergic to but I understand your frustration when I had cats and my ‘other half’ didn’t help (his cats mind you) I tied a shirt around my face and used old gloves (fluffy ones) and did that myself. It starts with the minor things then soon enough he won’t want to change your baby or watch baby while you get a 5 min shower. Just don’t ask him no favours

To be honest I changed my cats litter all throughout pregnancy but was a long time ago. I was fine. I was extra careful with hygiene though. You can buy those thin surgical gloves as I know they are saying now it’s more dangerous

To be fair I stil cleaned all the dog poo when pregnant with both my sons just wear gloves and a mask I didn’t wear a mask but I did wear gloves but if your worried put a mask on xx

Wash your hands and don’t touch your mouth. Honestly you can pick it up just from having cats in your house. The dig in their poop and run around your house anyway. And I’m sure your petting them still. Lower risk of picking it up if they’re strictly indoor cats. Sounds like you need to read more into it.

Wear a mask and gloves… I’d be more concerned your having a baby with someone you don’t live with… you will be wanting him to change dirty nappies next, or clean your home and he won’t as its your home etc…. Have you actually met his mum??

Girl buck up put on 2 pairs of gloves and a N95 mask and change the damn litter that’s what I did during mine I can’t expect any man to cater to you 1000% of the time men just aren’t wired that way

I changed my cats litter trays when I was pregnant with all 5 of mine ,just wear rubber gloves that’s what I done, If you’re really worried wear a mask and just make sure you wash your hands really well afterwards

Unless you’re really sucking it in, it won’t hurt. Those are your cats so deal withthem, put a mask on :woman_facepalming: don’t be lazy… I mean you’ll be fine if you do it, plus you can’t compare changing litter to taking care of kids

My husband refused to change the cat litter since the moment we got cats (he pukes  ) I just wore gloves, lit a candle , opened a window, and called it a day.

Who would change the litter if circumstances were such that he was MIA? There’s your answer.

When I was pregnant with our son my husband changed the litter box about once a month. It got to the point where I wore gloves and held my breath to clean out the litter box. He hated doing it, but he loved our cat. When our son was born he did just fine with helping care for and change our sons diaper. Our son was born healthy and happy. Good luck and congratulations on your little one.

Well I disagree with most of these comments. Pregnant women should not change litter :woman_shrugging::roll_eyes: that is ridiculous. A real man would do it. Annoying as hell. I would be concerned about baby too. Sorry mama.

Have you ever met his mother? That to me if you havent seems a bit werid…

You just need to pay a neighbor kid to handle this for you! It is not his responsibility and you can’t make him wrong for not wanting to perform this particular task! You might want to spend more time thinking about how you will create a combined household with his aversion to your cats. Not wanting to clean up behind your pets is not equal to him caring for his child!

They aren’t his bc are so I don’t blame him for not wanting to. It’s different then a child and if y’all are having a childish argument like this then good luck when baby is here

You are safe to change it as long as you wash your hands after it his cats go outside. If they don’t go outside, there’s no real toxoplasmosis risk.

Use some gloves and mask

Put a mask and gloves on and change it, you can’t really hate on him for not wanting that responsibility.

I had cats through all 3 of my pregnancies and I cleaned their litter trays. The risk of getting sick from cleaning litter trays is so so low…Your cats your responsibility. P.s that risk stays the same even if your not pregnant
