Pap smears are necessary, but it’s okay to not get one when you’re not ready. It’s very uncomfortable, if you aren’t having any issues get one when you’re ready! But just be aware that cancer can show no signs
Oh ffs I can’t even with this post. A violation? They are trying to HELP prevent, the sooner they catch things that we can’t visibly see the better WE are.

I have pretty much had a pap every year since I was 16 with my first
I’m 68 now and was told I no longer need one

Pap smear saved me from the pre cancer cells turning to cancer if not for the smear I’d most likely not be here today

It is their job to advise you to do something for your health. It’s in no way against your privacy - it would have been negligent for her to not tell you the risks especially after having a baby. And it is quick and barely painful and for your protection

Her job is literally to give you sound medical advice and the advice is you should get a pap every year. It is a cancer screening for a reason. Invasive? You just had a baby, I am sure nothing is more invasive than the whole pre-natal process.

You are apparently an idiot! Do you even know what a pap is looking for? She wanted to check & make sure you don’t have any cancer cells as a preventative for Ovarian Cancer!!! I don’t understand why you would think this is an invasion of your privacy. Don’t you tell your obgyn how you’re feeling? Grow up!

I know it feels like invasion of privacy but your doctor is probably annoyed because she knows what she has seen and what happens when there is cancer. We learned with my mom when she refused all these tests and suddenly there was issues and she had rectal cancer. (no not a pap but a colonoscopy could’ve prevented so much) same with a pap.
Your an idiot…and if you end up having something wrong with you and you weren’t tested then it’s on you…people like you give women a bad name.

Invasion of privacy? What do you think happens when you’re pregnant? And giving birth? Privacy goes out of the window.
If you had a daughter would you want her to do EVERYTHING to stay healthy and safe and alive? That includes getting regular doctor recommended Pap smears to recent cancer which can KILL you.

As your doctor it is her job to let you know what services you are to receive and when. Especially after you have a baby.
It’s the same exact thing for mammograms. How are they to catch the abnormal to make sure it’s not cancerous.
Doc was just doing what she signed up for.
Two years ago day I went to the doctor and I was fine….Last month I scheduled an early appointment because I had to get a full physical. We’re adopting a baby and they needed a cancer screening. I went for a check up and to my surprise I had abnormal cells and now I have to get more testing. - it was routine to get the cancer screening, just not my usual 2 years. I went early and I’m glad I did. It could be nothing or it could be something……but what if??
These things are in place for a reason, doctors ask because it’s their job. Just like my gyno asked “have you been checking your breasts in the shower”?
I laughed and said “uuuum no” and he told me all the reasons why I should be….I know I should, I just forget.
Most doctors do their job right, and it sounds like yours was.

If its cuz your uncomfortable they can use smaller ones. I just told my doctor why I didnt like it and she fixed the problem. Very important to check out your cooka tho!

Coming from someone who has a few friends who’s had or still has cervical cancer I’d say your a fool if you don’t. When something is at your disposal why not use it?? It’s because of those exams people are able to catch certain things early and I love doctors that talk to me like a human being and not just check off she didn’t want to. Grow up.

Violation of your privacy. You gave birth. Thats a pretty personal thing. She is just doing her job. I get it I’m a private person to, but as adults we sometimes have to do things that is uncomfortable at times.

Please educate yourself… they are medically necessary. Have a friend who almost lost her cervix and ability to care a pregnancy due to cervical cancer

A pap smear saved my life at 28… I had stage 3 cancer of the cervix… had surgery which removed most of my cervix …
