Put the key somewhere else and keep that a secret this time. Explain to them the thoughtless disrespect they exhibit to you and YOUR property. Be prepared for it to cause problems between your family and you. Some people watch the comings and goings of others, with bad intent. What if your aunt left the door unlocked or a window open and all your valuables were stolen?

Nope. Tell people that if ur not home, they are NOT welcome inside your home. If they have keys, take them away. If they know where the hidden spare key is, move it. That’s not right. I would have been mad too.

Well for God’s sake change the locks only have two keys and nobody else needs a key if they have a key if you feel that you must put a key someplace put it someplace where nobody would think to look and only the two of you know about or get a keyless entry and security cameras nuff said

My grandma has a key to ny house because she babysits my son sometimes when i work and she never just shows up she always calls me to let me know if shes leaving or if she wants to come over. She would never just go into my house

First, either move the key, or change the locks! If your family is close , have a family meeting, and tell them how you feel! It is really a privacy and possession issue!!!
Change the locks and get a security camera/ring doorbell and tell them next time they try that you’re calling the cops like every other breaking+entering person. They dont pay the rent, they dont just get to come in whenever.

If you don’t want them in there change the locks, hide the keys better, and don’t tell them where they are. They need to realize that that is your house. Your space. They probably already have copies made.

Who gave anyone permission to tour your home.?. Leave no key hidden or otherwise. Put a no trespassing sign on the porch. That gives you the legal right to enforce your wishes.

re hide your key and lock all your window doors and garage … also write everyone a letter saying you have decided to become a nudest that being said you would wish to start out slow in your home and work towards the grocery store and during this transition you would not like unexpected visitors because it will not give the full effect when thanksgiving comes

If your that particular then don’t tell others where your spare key is. As long as my family isn’t stealing my stuff, then I could care less if they come over when they want.

Get new locks and do not leave a key outside. If you need to leave one behind, but a lockbox for 35.00. And do not share the code. It’s your house. You don’t need to tell them why or when or that you did it. Let them show up and be surprised. If they confront you, just say, it seemed like a good time to tighten our security ‘Nuff said.

Change the locks hide the spare key someplace else.
We got coded entry door locks. When certain family members asked…we simply said we had been having issues with illegal entry & the police suggested this as a first step.
We got our from Home Depot but, I imagine most large hardware stores would have them, or be able to order them in.
I change the locks n put the key where no one would look. Put up security cameras. Which I already have up the shows my whole yard and house. And let them know that that wasn’t ok.

If I knew where my nieces spare key was, I would assume that means she trusts me to be in her home when she she is not there. However, I would also not feel the need to drive to her house just to give my daughter a tour🤷🏼♀️

You need to have a long chat with her about personal space and privacy. Also a new super secret key spot.
Move the key and don’t let anyone know where it is. Let the family know that they are welcome to visit if you are there, but unannounced visits are not something you want to encourage . Set your boundaries and stick with them. You have worked hard for your homes and want them to respect your privacy and accomplishments.

Hide your spare in another spot and don’t let anyone besides those who actually live there know where it is. Since it sounds like you’re not comfortable with it, you may as well. I’ve only known my grand aunt to always leave her house unlocked and anyone could walk in at any time and she didn’t mind. It always creeped me out. I have to lock my house no matter if I live in Tim buck 2.

Change the locks, hide the outside key in a different place, and only give a copy of the key to family you trust (for emergency situations and such).
