My husband makes our 9 and 13 year old do yard work: Is that okay?

No they are old enough to learn to do a lot of things it will never hurt to know how.

It does not hurt them to help by mowing the lawn and weed eating

They are not too young!

Kids need to know that kind of work.

My kids delivered newspapers ar 11

My parents had my sister and I doing yard work since I can remember. I even used to ride with them to do customers yards and all and I got paid. It’s a good character building job, makes you see the detail in everything and make sure it’s done right the first time. As long as they aren’t horse playing with the tools then they should be fine!

Kudos to your husband my children all knew how to work from a young age I had to work two jobs to support them it taught them a good work ethic. Kids nowadays are two Molly coddled teach him how to do more at a young age they will be more self-sufficient as they grow older

My son had a lawn service when he was only 11. If you don’t teach values while they are young, they won’t have any as adults. Helping to do family chores is very important.
Pay them with a great full heart.

Great to teach them this responsibility!

Oh For goodness sake people I’m an older parent I when I was growing up used to do yard work like helping my grandfather pick the vegetables…

Out of the veggie garden mow the lawns rake up the leaves and put the rubbish bins out with him…

that’s is what you call work it’s to help mould us kids into an adulthood when it comes to work…

As in this day and age children grow up into teenagers and grow up lazy and disrespectful and do not look after themselves…

As they need to be respected themselves and their parents and whoever they go with and where they live…

these kids expect too much they need to have stability they need to grow up they need to be able to look after themselves after…

we leave earth with these kids today will never get anywhere especially with these lockdowns especially with this coronavirus…

As we need to support them and show them giving them love care and understanding not just let them drop by The Wayside they need boundaries…

Does anyone remember Bob a job week with the scouts and brownies where’s the brownie to go to Scout used to go and do odd jobs…

for there scout movement the brownie movement and the guide movement…

we all used to do that it’s part of growing up part of being in the community and respecting it and giving back to the community or am I that old…

Hell no they are not too young

They aren’t to young as long as he watches them to keep safe. Bet they love helping.

My 9 year old daughter uses the weed eater while daddy mows. Nothing wrong with it at all!

There where just me and my daughter most of her life. I mow on the weekends, when I did not work. My daughter mowed about two time. I hired it out. I worked alot.

That was a normal Saturday chore when I was growing up out in the yard with Dad doing what was needed

I did chores as a child and it taught me responsibility. There is nothing wrong with your husband having your kids do the yardwork if he is out there supervising them while they do it.

Take off the bubble wrap. Teach them safety skills and supervise them while using this equipment

I drove a tractor and did two lines of sprinklers. Your kids are a spoiled joke
