My husband told me I was too old to be an LPN

Nope, he is wrong, go for it…you are young and in your prime

You are never to old for anything

Don’t feel discouraged. You are not too old. By all means go for it! I was 42 when I got my degree in criminal justice and spent the next 20 years working at a prison.

You are NOT to old!!!

girl, you be whatever your heart desires

My mom became an LPN at 49. She graduated first in her class and got the student-elected award as well, elected by all the younger people in her classes. She was always a nurse at heart and it sounds like you’ve always had it in you too. It certainly helps though when the people around you are supportive and encouraging. Best of luck!

You are not too old! Go for it!

If he wants to be supportive, then go a few more years for an RN license, and on graduation day announce you have applied for NP studies.

After you become a LPN tell your unsupportive husband you are going to get a younger husband bc he’s too old and not supportive of your dreams.

Old is a mindset. Girl, if you want it, go get it! Satan’s good at sending naysayers; and, yes, it’s usually family. Never stop growing & learning.

The only reason I can think of as to why he says you’re “too old” is the fact that maybe you’d be making more money than he does?:woman_shrugging:t2: just a thought.

My mom went to nursing school with me. You are never too “old”.

Whatever… I’m older than you getting my second masters degree…

What you’re to old for is your husband!

You’re making an adult decision to put yourself on a path to better your life, and honestly his life too. He’s acting like an immature little boy.

My dad was in his 40s when he graduated with his Radiology degree. I have friends who are in their 30s, 40s and 50s who are either pursuing nursing degrees or furthering their nursing education.

I am 38 years old. I started college immediately after graduation, in 2002. Because of children and life, I wasn’t able to finish. I went back to school in 2021. I’ll graduate next June with a degree in business management and a degree in business administration. I’m a wife, a mother, a full time employee and a full time student. Our kids have sports and school activities. My husband also works a full time, physically demanding job, and actively participates in all of the extra stuff going on in our lives. He not only supports me, but encouraged me to go back and finish school.

Your husband should fully support your dreams and desires, ESPECIALLY when it benefits not just you, but your entire household.

So, enroll yourself in school. Get that LPN degree. Go to work as an LPN. Continue going to school. Get your AAS for an RN. Go to work as an RN. Continue going to school. Get your BA for an RN. If your husband can’t or won’t support you, leave him in your past!

No that’s not too old! U can be 50 and still get a nursing license with plenty years to work!

I just got my CNA cert at 44. And if I were you I would do the RN program. Just as long and heck of a lot more pay.

That’s not old. Consider that you won’t retire until a minimum of 65 years old.

you are not too old!!! take it from another nurse, I have seen many 30-40 year old men and women get their licenses, and they make better nurses for having waited

You’re never too old to begin a new adventure!

Tell him you’re old enough to make your own decisions

Yes, go for it if it is what you want to do!!!

U leave his ass and follow your dreams

You are never too old to do which one to do

Sounds like he feels a bit threatened?! but if he’s not being supportive and putting you down, then make sure that door hits him in the arse on his way out!

I was 30 when I went to LPN school and I loved my job,my husband and 3 children encouraged and pitched in and helped me!

I became a LPN at 48 and an RN at 50. Best decision ever.

People who say you can’t do something should get out of the way of those who are doing it. Your husband is demeaning you. I’m thinking this is happening in other areas of your life for you to feel unsettled in your dream. You are being called to this - answer that call! He can get on board and support you or move along.

I graduated with my degree in radiology at 54. It’s pretty physically demanding but here I am at almost 60 doing mobile xray! I love it! You are never told old to go learn a new trade.

Perfect even for an associate degree RN. Then you can on line get further degrees and make $80,000. To 100,000. / Year he will probably appreciate that when you all are at the retirement age of 70 years old . I know I worked 44 years. Good money for a woman.

What u are the right age.

Sounds like your husband is part of that “life just got in the way” problem. You go for it! You are absolutely not to old girl!!! Good luck!

Don’t be discouraged!! Go for your LPN. You will be so glad you did…

U aren’t to old, not at all

You will be fine!!!

No way!! I went back to school at 42.

You’ll kick yourself in the rump if you don’t. My wife was nearing 40 when she got into being an RN.

Nope not too old. Tell your husband to shove it. And if he can’t be by your side while you’re doing this then he doesn’t deserve you whatsoever

Go for it! Your not too old. What does your husband think you should do at your age? Your a young woman with plenty of time a head of you!! Don’t get discouraged, it’s better to try then to wish you would have. Good luck and I wish you the best :four_leaf_clover:

No one is too old in order to pursue your dreams…dump him like a piece of trash , then go to school, God knows we need more of you!!!

My mother an I went to lunch school together. You are not to old

Is he for real? You are only 32 y.o. he should encourage you, not discouraged you.

Your not to old . Go for it !

No you are not too old…you are barely hitting your prime! You have life experiences that help ground you, give you balance. Go for it if you love people. If you love touching people physically, putting yourself second to their needs. The best nurses are born nurses…they often are not the ones with a lit of initials after their name…

Shoot go for it, I don’t think 32 is too old!!

Question what you should be wondering is as to why your husband wouldn’t support your decision to go back to better yourself?? Like where’s the encouragement?? And FYI you’re not too old

my best advice would be that you follow your heart’s desire. It is time to build the life you want, not what he wants.

Dang her man is a hater

Go for it you are never to old

34 is still young. Go for it.

Go for it! If you don’t go for it you will still be 34 in 2 years, doing what?? You go girl!!

My mother went back to school to become an LPN when I was in the first grade, around the time she was 32. She got a job at a hospital that then paid for most of her tuition and went on for her RN degree. She had my little brother while she was still in the school and graduated as an RN when I was in the fifth grade, so a few years later. Then she kept working and kepting going to school and the hospital kept paying for her to go to school and got her BSN when I graduated college. Then she went on to be a Nurse Practitioner and now she’s making bank and works alongside doctors like she’s one of them and it all started with becoming an LPN when she had two little kids (and would later have another). GO FOR IT!

you go girl, live your life.by the way 32 is young.

My step mom was a LPN,she did it well into her 70s so I say go for it.If you don’t do what you always wanted you will regret not doing it.

Young lady… you are not to old for anything…
l became a Nurse assistant…in my 40,s…and could have, went all the way to.R.N…,but l thought it better to…work 2 jobs than go to school and work too.
You are so young…don,t let anybody tell you you are too…old ,not even your husband.

Girl leave his hating ass now!! I got my LPN when I was 36 and it was a 50 y/o in my class. Ain’t no age limit in bettering yourself or caring for other people. Go to school!! Might I ask what he do for a living??

GO FOR IT! People need to support us not degrade us.

Your NOT to old. If that’s your dream go for it. Life is short and you should have no regrets and have said I WISH I’d done that

I have a friend that’s just graduated :mortar_board: at 50 years old and is now a counsellor. It’s never to late.

Follow your heart and do it.

You are actually quite young! You can do this. Good for you!! My daughter is an LPN…I am so very proud of her. I don’t remember her age when she made her decision…maybe your age. God bless your endeavor

No, you’re in your prime, do it! I graduated as an RN @ the age of 45, after a divorce. If you want it, it’ll only get harder the longer you put it off! Worked 20 years& my only regret is not doing it sooner!

Retirement age is 65… you would have a good 30 years of nursing! Also enough time to retire with a good pension! Do it girl! Don’t let NO man get in your way. Because if he’s not helping or supporting you, he’s in the way!!

I was 45 when I became an LPN. Best move I ever made. Most men realize the commitment it takes. Because for 2 years that is essentially your whole life and a lot of men have a hard time with that. God bless

You are never to old to become an LPN or an RN. What exactly does he think a 34 year old woman should do for a living? I’m 44 and my husband and he would absolutely support me if I went to school to become an LPN. You go and get that LPN degree, you will be so happy you did.

Do what will make u happy

I just finished an 18 month accelerated ADN RN program. I am 37 and will be 38 in June. If you have the want to, I say go for it. You’ll regret it if you never tried. I’m so glad I did it.

Omg girl!! Not to old at all!!! You can do it and prove him wrong. He should be so proud that you want to do great things with your life.
