My Landlord Sent a Registered Sex Offender to My House for Handiwork: What Should I Do?

Id say nope!! Your place, the landlord should do it himself. Tell your landlord how you feel about it. That is not okay! Glad you looked him up to find that out. That shit is scary.

Iā€™d call police for adviceā€¦

Shit, thatā€™s scarey, hope all works out well for you

Report ot to your local police

A registered sex offender is not allowed any contact with minors! He will be in breach of his parole/bail conditions and he will know this already and is clearly happy to breach them!! Contact your local parole office and tell them heā€™s in your home and you have young children and Iā€™d be dammed if Iā€™d let my landlord hire scum like him. Put your foot down and say the fuck with that.

Sex offerender shouldnā€™t be allowed around children I would tell landlord hell no

Call the police. He is violating the registry

By law he is not allowed within 600 ft of any child, park or school. Simply report to your local police. Or decline him at the door and tell him exactly why!

Contact the police, tell them everything. That man will not be allowed anywhere near your children

It would be a no and the landlord would go along with me no other way

I would check to make sure he hadnā€™t installed cameras anywhere!

First off it is illegal for your landlord not to give you a 24hr notice before stepping on the property most of into the home

And when you employ a sex offender your supposed inform the renter he is one

Is your landlord aware of the situation? You need to email him with a link to his sex offender profile and let him know that it is unacceptable and you would appreciate if he screens his future employees and that he needs to find someone else to perform the work. Do this immediately before he hires him for the job.

If heā€™s registered he is restricted from being near or around children. Make one call and you wonā€™t have any more issues with him coming!

First of all, why would you answer the door before seeing who it was? Second, why wouldnā€™t you get dressed before letting him in? Third, why would you let a stranger in your home if you werenā€™t expecting a repairman to be there? Landlords are supposed to give advance notice to enter property, unles the is an emergency.

You didnā€™t say how you got this info, so if I were you I would confirm it before plastering it all over.

The right thing to do would be to discuss your concerns with your landlord, expressing your valid concerns. Ask for someone else.

I was knee deep redoing a home I bought that was completely gutted ā€¦ My pastor sent a guy to help me when he found out I was doing most of the work by myselfā€¦ So the guy is at my house alone with me and my daughter for about 2-3 weeks come to find out the guy is on the registry for sexual assault of a minor, touching a minor for sexual gratification, possession of child pornography among other thingsā€¦ when I called and asked the pastor if he knew of this manā€™s past when he sent him to be in a vacant home with me and my child he acted like it was nothingā€¦ Needless to say I donā€™t attend that church anymore I mean thanks for the help but Iā€™d rather have done it myself than with a pedophile around my child!

You should definitely speak upā€¦ Itā€™s his property but your paying rent and that makes it your home and you have every right to not want that man around your children!

You write your landlord and email immediately refusing the man entry into your home and why with the information to back it up. Is the man still on probation is he allowed to be around children. The worst part is what he did was probably worse, what heā€™s been found guilty of are just the charges that stuck or he pled down toā€¦

Yes get proof and tell landlord. He must have court order to stay away from kids. Call police and notify them

Call the non emergency number and see if maybe a police officer can supervise him while in your house with minors

He is not allowed to be around children period. Call the cops.

Talk to his probation officer.

Iā€™d call the landlord and say thereā€™s no way youā€™re letting a registered sex offender back in your home. He can find someone else.

Its against the law for him to be around childrenā€¦ PERIOD

I explained directly to him that I have children in and out of my house. He has to wear a cap and lower it to cover.their eyes from children. They need to stay away from daycares and rated g movies. Remember theres no cure.

Nope. Your conditions of ā€˜no sex offenders allowed in the houseā€™ is not an unreasonable one. Demand that he use someone that you feel is safe to enter the house. Threaten to contact the better business bureau or whomever if he gives you any trouble. Or contact the parole officer in charge of him and state that his employer was directing him to go into a home where there are small children and he entered your home

Talk to your landlord if that doesnā€™t work, talk to the police if that doesnā€™t work then have a friend over and video him while he is your home.

Iā€™m curious to know what your husband said or thinks about this situation. You mentioned he was in your backyard that day. Why wasnā€™t he the one to communicate with the repairman? Also, one more thing, you say you donā€™t know what to do now. I would recommend you let your husband take care of it and have him talk to landlord. He needs to look out for his family and needs to tell the landlord he doesnā€™t want a sex offender around his family at all or at least not while heā€™s not home. I donā€™t want to assume your husband is not being active in handling the situation, it just sounds as if youā€™re the one having to deal with this guy on your own, which is beyond scary.

I donā€™t think he can legally be in your house, considering what he was charged with, heā€™s probably not even allowed around children. Iā€™d definitely say something to the landlord cause, hell no.

Why didnā€™t she call her husband and tell him what is happening, you donā€™t want that person in your home.let the police know he is living in your area

Let your husband handle it, simple as that or get somebody else.

What state are you in usually a landlord has to give you 24-48 hrs noticeā€¦ also the registered sex offender probably canā€™t work in a home with children and would call the cops or probation

You have the right and the law on your side. The sex offender can not be in your house.

All Iā€™m gonna say isā€¦
I didnā€™t think that sex offenders were allowed to be in the home of children.

He isnā€™t allowed to be around children so donā€™t let him in - If your landlord tries to allow it call the police - They will arrest the sick prick for being around underage children

Show your landlord proof of his criminal record as a sex offender. Insist on his using someone else for your familyā€™s safety. If he does not call legal aid or fair housing office and find out your rights. You may be able to get it fixed and take it out your rent.

Hard, firm no. Do not let a sexual predator into your home.

The scary thing now is he knows the home layout and that theres children there. I would definitely get Security cameras installed, move if you can or get something to protect yourself.

You have a right not to let him inside ur home and secondly ask the police .! Mention it to them :+1: hope all ok

Oh, find someone else for sure!

U can ask for someone else to do the job u are the home owner

Have him in and then call the police. He canā€™t be around kids.

You can say no legally he cant work near children

Hell no. You have children and you have rights!!

express your concern to the landlord and let him know know for future reference Noone is to come to your home with 24 hour notice and it needs not to be the man that has already come. He may not know this manā€™s history but I sure would tell him if I had the facts
