No not unless someone thinks neglect… Rule of thumb if you’re gonna turn your back the safest place is the floor
My baby choked on an unidentified object at about 10 months and I called. I smacked her back very hard and I believe I dislodged it but left a red mark on her back. I was horrified cps would have to “open a voluntary 60 day”. But thankfully literally nothing came of it. But when I called the cops on my daughters dad for dv they were at my house the next day. I finished our “voluntary case” and moved into a dv shelter. Cps has been in my life since I was 2/3 years old till the day I graduated high school. I’ll be damned if my babies have to do the same. Your Situation is fine. Babies are accident prone. But if you dropped the baby because you were arguing that would raise their hairs a bit. Your good though. Such an innocent accident
When my daughter was 2 she climbed up on the porch rail and jumped. The Dr laughed and told she can already see we are going to have our hands full. She was bruised and had a cut on her arm. No cps But she had chapped lips in school and her lip split open cps came for that one though
No. EMT are mandatory reporters… you’d already have been visited at the hospital
No they won’t call for that. It literally happens every day, and it is completely an accident.
Keep pillows around him on the bed
Makes it hard to roll over them
CPS would only be called if your pediatrician sees something isn’t right between how he appears and what you say happened. Kids fall off the bed even tho we try to watch them like hawks it happens. Maybe make a pillow Barrier around him to help make sure it doesn’t happen again, I mean most likely it will just hopefully not while he’s so little
If you didn’t see CPS before you left you prolly won’t see them unless your MIL called them herself.
Gosh if that was the case they would have been called for the things that happened to my son. He was about a year or so old and my brother was sitting and went to the kitchen and left my son on the sofa and then my son fell off and landed on his head on wooden floor. He ending up with a golf ball size lump on his head. Then I didn’t see his hand and closed my car door on his hand he was about 5 then and luckily just ended up with a small bruise. Don’t worry if they turn up they should see it was an accident and nothing more. Don’t let her stress you over it as they may not come. Every child has some sort of accidents in there life.
Happens to just about every baby. They roll off of something.
Accidents happen! You went to the Dr to get him checked out, and if it’s not a reoccurring thing, they shouldn’t be in your business.
And your pediatrician would’ve reported any concerns
We had one week, where we went to A&E twice several days apart. We just got a call from the Health Visitor two weeks later. I was worried at the time.
I believe the emt and pediatrician are well trained in what’s an accident and what’s not… what’s repeated and what’s not….accidents happen but you live and learn … prop pillows use , swings ,bouncers, or floor time

my son fell off the bed at 5 months. I took him to his Dr and the hospital. he was fine, and cps did not get involved. he’s 7 months old now
No it has to be reported within 72 hours and after that their is nothing they can do so if it been pass the 72 hours they cannot do anything Accidents do happen glad he ok
It should be fine. The hospital staff have a list of certain kinds of injuries that they’re trained with that fallen under the abuse category. They also look for past injuries and the amount of ER visits. If this was recurring and there was significant damage and red flags alerted, or any cause of suspicion, they’re obligated to contact CPS. That doesn’t even seem like a reality in your case.
But, if CPS does come for a wellness check, they check the children and make sure that the home is stable, livable and that there’s food, clothes, running water, etc. The visits are generally pretty quick and then they’re gone. If there’s nothing to hide, it shouldn’t be an issue.
Denying them an inspection when or if they come, as some have suggested, is a bad idea. It’s a red flag and cause for concern. They would have to drag the case on for longer and have a court order, a d even take the children into custody temporarily until their more thorough investigation is completed.
They could also make you go through mandatory drug and alcohol testing, have stipulations and programs you have to complete, and counseling before you get your children back.
So, it’s best that you let them come and talk, and do a quick walkthrough then leave, and case closed if there’s nothing to hide. They’re people too, and not all like the monsters some people claim they are. MOST are all about what’s in the best interest of the kids.
Not unless they actually suspect abuse. Babies roll off the bed all the time. It happens.
Same thing happen when my child was a baby she fell on a pile of clothes and with her dad and when she looked at her she was laughing not crying and cps didn’t get involved cause it wasn’t abuse it was a accident
l get paid over $155 per hour working from home. l never thought I’d be able to do it but my buddy makes over $17198 a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The possibility with this is endless.

Accidents happen if she this paranoid don’t tell her anything anymore
Nothing too worry about!
No they won’t my son rolled off the bed when I turned to get talcum powder I was beside myself he was younger than yours.Nobody came an he is 32 with a 5 yr old daughter of his own.
Accidents happen, she shouldn’t be worrying you like that. He did the right thing and called for help immediately which matters a lot, they look for people not calling right away. Tell her to mind her business
No my daughter fell off the couch and I called the doctor crying she said it happens all the time you guys got the baby checked out you’re fine and even if they do show up you show them you off nothing to hide you’re good!
No. That’s normal. I bet it’s your first born.
My daughter bashed her eye on the coffee table when she was about 18 months, needing glue to seal the cut. Six weeks later, the last of the glue had just washed off when she fell off her bed and cut the same eye, also triggering a seizure (she’s epileptic). No CPS involvement.
My daughter climbed out of her cot and banged her head, was a nasty bump and bruise, i took her A&E to be checked over, they see these accidents all the time, even the most carefullest parents get accidents like this
No CPS won’t be coming. A lot of babies roll off of the bed at least once. I know my kids did.
Dont know how many times my kids have fallen off something after telling them 50 million times don’t climb up there, get off that before you fall, but Nah NO ears amd when they do fall, I end up saying Owell you won’t do that again Lol Nek minit back up there Ahaha
Lol no they will not!
Our 5 month old fell off a changing table and we took her to the ER. No one from CPS ever contacted us.
Noooo. I take my son to the Dr with bruises on him all the time — he’s a very wild 3 year old
No it was an accident

No they don’t show up for one accident.
One of my neighbors baby did the same thing but got hurt it broke her femur thigh bone .The hospital by law had to be called in the state of Utah .CPS interviewed the parents and did a entire Body scan of the baby girl that showed no previous bone breaks case was closed. Our 7 yr old daughter got pushed off a top bunk bed at a neighbors house fighting over a toy.She broke her elbow had do have pins and screws placed !CPS wasn’t called on us or the neighbors house it happened at !I think it depends on the state if 911 was called it maybe turned in look up your state laws.Happy your baby wasn’t hurt worse
Accidents happen, CPS won’t come for that.
My son has had worse happen, nothing was reported as suspicious by doctor’s to CPS, and no 911 calls, just straight to urgent care or the children’s hospital.
No, CPS will not show up. When my oldest son was a baby, he fell off the bed in the 2 seconds I turned away. I’ve also brought my oldest (who is very accident prone) to the Pediatrician for bruises on his head when he’d fallen (about 3 times) as a toddler. CPS never showed up. Even if they do show up, they’ll drop the case after they interview you and your fiancee and learn it’s only one accident with nothing else suspicious. You’re fine. Don’t worry.’
No my grandson fell out of his crib…sounds like you did what you should do
No they won’t get involved
Medical professionals are trained to discern between regular bumps and bruises and abuse
Bruises from falling off the bed are a lot different than being hit or thrown
IF cps gets involved you can bet future mil called them
My daughter would launch herself off the bed at 1 yr. She also would climb out of her crib and fall. No cps
No & if so that’s ridiculous
I doubt it. If EMS or Doctor did not report it, there should be no problem
Not they will not !!! If the EMT or the pediatrician have had any suspicious on neglect they automatically have to call CPS , but the baby is fine without any signs of abuse .
You are fine !!!
Nooope my kids are so many scraps, bumps and bruises they’ve been like that since they could crawl. My daughter fell outta our bed when I was in the shower one day she was sleeping when I got in and when they first got home she litually fell outta my arms and on the floor I was beyond exhausted I felt her falling but couldn’t wake up I felt horrible
Drs are trained to look for signs of abuse and know the difference between injuries from an accident versus injury from abuse. There is certain markings / patterns etc that they look for. My son broke his leg at a trampoline park and they could tell the break was consistent with what I said happened.
Every child falls off the bed at some point. Plus you followed up.
It’s possible they will get involved I’ve seen it happen. Honestly though, it’s been when someone takes their kiddo to the ER not usually the Drs. I don’t know why Hospitals call over the dumbest shit but they do.
They’d only come if someone called them.
It sounds like the medical professionals are not worrying about it, so you shouldn’t either because the case (if opened) would likely be closed without incident.
Do you have any idea how many children that age accidentally fall off of beds, changing tables, etc. You’re okay and you did everything you should do after it happened. If you were truly abusing him, you’d never bring it to the authorities attention.
Sounds like MIL is feeling guilty for her son?? Doesn’t think she raised him very well???
Absolutely not. They’d been at your door already.
Doubt have to be a many times reoccurring thing
Nope. CPS worker here. The only way they would is if they seen signs of abuse and any injury didn’t match the story. I think you are good. Kiddos have accidents it happens! Rest easy momma
I mean if the physician saw other signs of abuse they would show up. BUT things happens sometimes. Kids are clumsy.
If cps is called they have to show up for a visit within 24 hours
It’s hard to say everywhere is different. My cousins little boy rolled off the bed and due to him being younger than your baby they decided to look into it because they didn’t believe that he was old enough to roll off but after investigating further they realized he actually had rolled off and had no findings of abuse. We live in KY.
If that was the case all my kids would have been taken. My first fell off the bed a few times and once she dove over her daddies lap landing on her neck. He rushed her to the er. She was fine each time. Emergency personnel and drs know things happen. You sought care and showed you care for your baby.
They won’t unless the bruises don’t look like they came from falling off the bed.
My daughter crawled right off our bed one night when she was about 6-7 months old. Hit her head right on the corner of the night stand. We called a nurse hotline to see what we should do, they told us what to look for if there is any serious issues. There were none but we still called EMT to take us to the hospital. Dr said she was okay, gave us the clear to go home. No CPS or DCF involved.

Things like this happen all the time. My youngest has had his lip spilt requiring stitches, fell and hit his eyebrow running that split and required stitches, tripped spinning in circles and hit his mouth on corner of furniture turning his front tooth gray, and had his cornea scratched having to seek emergency care for antibiotic eye drops. He is autistic and extremely clumsy but we’ve never had any worries about CPS. I believe it’s only if they suspect it’s abuse that they will call them for a well check.
unless she calls or someone was there and feels hes in danger… thats only reason cps would show up . glad hes ok though
No. Unfortunately your baby isnt the first one to roll of a bed or another piece of furniture. Accidents do happen
Ive always heard it’s bad luck if they don’t fall off the bed before they turn 1 yr old. Lol🤷♀️ ( just an old saying btw )
Unless the ER doctor’s/nurse’s made a report you’re okay. You would have had a CPS worker visit you at the ER that’s what happened with 1 of my son’s when he dislocated his elbow thank goodness he was old enough to say what happened…
Babies roll off beds all the time. If there were no other signs of trauma, they won’t.
Babies fall off the bed all the time. It’s not considered abuse or neglect. . I’ve got a few movers and shakers out of my 7 kids who took a quick trip off the bed.
If he was severely hurt then that would be a different story but not usually, they show up if something serious happens and they needed medical attention for more than a fall off of the bed. It usually depends on the situation and severity of it.
Falling off the bed is a right of passage for kids… my son was weeks old the first time he rolled himself off the bed, he wasn’t supposed to be rolling that early and it scared me I took him to the hospital and everything and they basically said everything looks fine just keep an eye on him and he’ll be fine and never once did I have to deal with CPS, the nurse herself told me cuz I was freaking out she was like “oh I remember the first time my twins fell off the bed, babies are resilient” the NURSE.
I had my kid fall in his crib and smacked his haw good and took him into the ER…it happens…a lot with little kids but as long as you’re up to date on doc well child appointments and there wasn’t any other signs of abuse then nothing to worry about
Lot of nurses told me babies bounce and don’t get hurt very bad idk I think they do get seriously hurt when they fall.
I think it would depend if it was reported or not
It happened with all three of my kids. Called an ambulance for my youngest because she hit the playpen wheel and cut the edge off her eye but I thought it was her eyeball bleeding. I was freaking out terrified the hospital was gonna call cps but the nurse told me flat out shit happens and all they cared about was I had her seen…she was 2 1/2 mos old
Yea my daughter did this at 2months old and she was surrounded by pillows. She just turned 6 Friday. Nothings gonna happen there would have to been signs of malnutrition or physical abuse for them to report you.
People like your MIL give me anxiety. My child fell off the couch a week after being home. No cps and I accidentally gave her a hand print bruise from taking a string off her toe. She wouldn’t lay still. The er said they would if prob left the same bruises. Discharged us and we went on our way.

Babies fall. They get hurt sometimes. Don’t worry.
Every child falls off the bed!!
Nooo! What child hasn’t fell of bed🤔
Girl my daughter fell off the bed wayyyy too many times. You guys are just paranoid.
They won’t call cps unless theres other signs of abuse.I swear all kids fall off a bed or couch before they’re a year old.
I feel like children falling off the bed is a rite of passage
No, but seriously. Babies fall off beds. I CPS wouldn’t come out for that, unless the bruises/cuts weren’t consistent with falling off the bed. Everything will be okay! Glad uour little babe is okay
Don’t worry. If they do, you have followed all the correct moves. They are not always the bad guys. Be glad they care
Omg that’s way over the top. I’m pretty sure almost every baby falls off a couch or bed at some point. Mine did. He is a happy healthy smart loving 4 year old !
Especially if EMT was there. Everything is finnneeeee
Doctors can tell a difference between abuse bruises and playing bruises. You’ll be fine.
This happens more often than u could imagine sadly ! But thankfully most children only end up with a bruise or bump . CPS has no reason to show up ! If there was cause for concern the hospital and or the pediatrician would have notified them immediately !
They won’t show up for that hun. Honestly it’s a pretty common, but awful thing to happen. You’ve done everything you could think of after to make sure baby is okay too so don’t worry about it. Cps know accidents happen, they’ll only investigate if something happens that doctors alert them too because it’s raising red flags
This has happened so very often to many who would never admit it because they feel so awful as babies can be little bums always squirming around it just takes a second to grab a cloth and it just happens and you have tears rolling down your face as you pick up your baby hold him close to you crying are you ok over and over… Your baby is usually more scared than hurt and relief pours over you… happened to me and that is when I started changing my kids on the floor with a soft cozy blanket underneath with a changing pad on top
My daughter broke her leg when she was two and at the hospital they said they had to by law report the injury because of her age and type of injury, came within 24hrs of injury.
No, CPS won’t come, doctors are mandated to report suspicious incidences and seeing they sent you on your way means that they were fine with the explanation… Babies fall off beds, I mean, who hasn’t lol… Pay no attention to your mother in law, that’s just definite anxiety that you don’t need… Everything will be fine…
Even if CPS did it is very unlikely for them to remove the child as long as you have nothing to hide, baby proofing is done and child safety and lively hood is good
My daughter split her head open when she was about 16 months old and had to get her forehead glued together no cps involvement, my older daughter had to get her toe glued back together when after she was 3 because she caught it on the bottom of a metal screen door no cps involvement there either, last week my 9 month old fell off my bed and I called the doctor because the way she landed scared me told to monitor her and she would most likely be fine. Kids fall, kids get cuts and scrapes and bruises doctors, paramedics, most law enforcement officials, and cps understands this so even if they were to be called you shouldn’t be worried most caseworkers aren’t big scary monsters unless there is cause for concern they don’t waste their time with kids being kids and getting hurt.
From someone who had been involved with CPS…. From my experience… if they have any suspicions , police call CPS immediately, like right then and there … and then CPS reaches out to you within 24-48 hours . They’re pretty quick with it . But I highly doubt that happening
They have so much on their plates already , with so many different cases and so little CPS workers . They really won’t even waste their time with this because it sounds like there was no concern at the hospital . Pretty sure they would have called the police to come
To the hospital before you left if they thought your child was in danger
Are you even a real parent if you haven’t tipped your kid over in the pram because you made it too heavy, accidentally let them fall, something silly like that? Don’t stress.
They can show up if someone turns you in. Someone has to report you to CPS
Medical professionals know when abuse is going on. I prepared for a visit when my daughter told her dentist that her daddy punched her in the mouth to get a loose tooth out. They never showed.
It can happen. My son was about 2 months old and my husband had him laying on the couch and was sitting on the floor in front of him. My husband leaned forward for 2 seconds and my son rolled off the couch onto the hardwood floor. Ring brand new parents we took him to the ER to be checked out. We were there an insanely long time and come to find out it was because the ER had called cps. They came and talked to us and basically said it was because “2 month olds” don’t roll. My son had been rolling since 2 weeks old. They had to do a home visit but realized everything was fine and the case was closed.
