Why are dinosaurs only for little boys? Those types of things don’t make sense to me. Whatever your child’s interests are, I think you should support them. Grandma may be just going by what she was brought up to think. My 4 year old is starting Kindergarten soon and she chose a blue lunchbox and a “boys” blue Paw Patrol backpack. My oldest daughter says she is going to get picked on… WHY? Because she likes the color blue?! Some people don’t make sense to me.

Personally I think that it is none of your mother-in-law’s business. She raised her children, and she needs to leave your child alone. Explain to your daughter that there were girl dinosaurs too, and it is perfectly acceptable if she wants a dinosaur-themed room. And you may need to draw some boundaries with your MIL.

I have a MIL who I can’t stand Lmao. She tried telling me what to do with my child. She embarrassed my daughter at 2yrs old at her wedding. She was supposed to be a fully dressed flower girl but she and her mother purposely didn’t give socks and other materials that flower girls should wear at a wedding. I already voiced my opinion to everyone at her wedding that I will not allow her and her family to mistreat my daughter period. So they went on and did their thing and shut their mouths. After the wedding was over, the brides mother comes to me and throws my daughters missing materials at me and said “here’s her stuff” so you know what I did? Infront of her face I threw the materials in the garbage and she walked away. That’s why she’s not allowed in my and my child’s life. It’s perfectly healthy to cut ties off of toxic family members. Especially if they steal money from you and try to tear your family.
Grow a BACKBONE. Like seriously, if you don’t stand up to toxic people when they talk down to your kids. Then your kids can’t rely you to be their voice. And that’s the TRUTH

Explode. MIL needs to check herself and her mouth around your daughter. If I hear a family member telling my kids something I don’t agree with, I shut it down right there in the moment. They are my kids, and not even my own parents can tell me what to do when it comes to raising them. Yeah well try this on for size. Once my boys stayed at my mil. Having packed plenty of clothes he needed(the4 yr old at the time) and having access to our house if needed more. Well what does she do? Takes it upon herself to go to the store and buy him boxers. For absolutely no reason. His whole life he’s wore normal undies and it was never a problem. Now he flat out refuses to wear them or anything else but the boxers. Idk what she brain washed him with that day. But GD she did brain wash him and it makes me livid.

Why approach her? Move forward with the dino room. Talk to and encourage daughter to get what she wants. The next time your MIL comes over and sees the room CHECK HER if she utters a discouraging word and show her the door if necessary. Your husband needs to handle his mom.

I am a boy momma I love Dinosaurs and I never enjoyed barbies but got them all the time from family I hated it. My son yesterday at sams found a kitchen blender coffee and mixer set that he wants for his birthday my husband asked what color he wanted as the only options where pink and blue he said pink. Not sure where your from, but I’m in Canada we have a kids show called “Dino Dana” you tube it for your daughter and on purpose let her watch infront of MIL palaeontologists can be females to and if she likes dinosaurs it can be a pink or whatever coloured room with Dino themed inside for crying out loud, I think it’s cute, I have boys and they love that show btw

Dinosaurs can be for both girls and boys. My son loves Dinosaurs and when i was in 3rd or 4th grade i loved Dinosaurs as well. My favorites were Brachiosaurus and velociraptor plus i grew up watching we’re back and land before time plus jurassic parks. Now i like mosasaurus, and diploducus. Lol so yes they are for everyone. If your daughter wants Dinosaurs give it to her. I was into Dinosaurs then the next horses, then backstreet boys lol, then titanic history, then roman history. Girls interests are ever changing so let her have Dinosaurs.
Ignore her and do the dinosaur theme
