I would lay my kids face down on my legs head down towards my feet, then I would gently tap on their back starting from lower back up to shoulder all while having a steamer going close by with a cotton ball with Vicks on it. Worked every time. I would do it several times a day also bought a nasal suction device where I suctioned each nostril, I would do each side twice. I did both several times a day.
Help a mama out and respond anonymously on our forum. My six month old is choking on mucous, how can I help her?
Try vicks vapor bath!
Have them propped up with some pillows so it can drain better and not getting stuck.
Its not making it worse. Its doing its job by loosening it up so she can cough it out or you can suction it out. Vicks and humidifiers were built to help moisturize the lungs and help break it up. Just help her get it out and she will be fine. Good luck mama
Nasal sucker, elevate her head on a pillow or have her sleep on your chest propped on the couch or chair, a warm bath may help too.
Sorry momma! Having sick kiddos is no fun.
There are natural remedies for cough medicines
Pat her back to help loosen it up
My little fella was the same. While your sitting on a chair, legs outstretched, lay bubs on her belly, head towards the floor on your lap. Rub and pat her back
Buy Nose Friday is awesome
Saline drop like little infant nasal drops. And a suction bulb
Try steam inhalation using water… Avoid giving chocolates/choco drinks…
WArm a little olive oil lay here across your lap massage her back… then cup your hand and tap up and down she’ll cough because it will loosen and easier to spit out because of the position
Nasal sucker will for sure help
Are you sure she doesn’t have allergies
Talk to your daughters Pediatrician about seasonal allergies, yes kids that age can have them especially if the parents suffer. My now 4 year old was diagnosed at 5 months, within a week after starting allergie meds he was feeling better
Nose sucker ,no.milk ,water
Hmm if it’s something like bronchitis? This is something that worked for my older children . I lauded them belly down across my knees, head a little lower than the feet & hit them on the back to help them get it out . When ever I was sent home w/ a newborn they gave me a couple of those blue nasal suction things & those worked great at getting mucus out. If it’s a dry cough, they might be hot give him/her a cool rinse, a light shirt & try propping then up to go to sleep. Maybe a fan on low blowing a little above the baby. Hope you find something .
Nose sucker. Plug one nostril as you suck it out the other and vice-versa
Cut out dairy from her diet and give her an expectorant
Sit in the shower with her, steam them out(if there’s a store near you that carries vicks shower disks GRAB THEM they are amazing). Use the nose frida right after, vicks on the chest, back of the neck, and feet. Keep them upright as much as possible. This was a big issue with both my littles and it made a huge difference.
My son and daughter have been like that took them to the ER and they flushed them out
Try steam. Turn the shower on really hot and close the door to the bathroom so the steam fills the room. Then just sit in the bathroom with the steam for as long as you can. My son used to get the croup and the steam shower always opened his passageways so we didn’t wind up in the ER.
Theres a saline spray you can buy over counter for babies off her age which works atreat … not pleasent to do but bubs will feel so much better from it . Sounds like seasonal allergies as my little man suffered same he is a now thrivibg 11 monyh hapoy man xx
My baby just recently got over a cold. He’s 7 months. I applied vicks to the bottom of his feet and put socks on him. Then i put some on his chest and some in the middle of his back. Lastly i put footed pjs on him. I did this for a couple of days before bedtime. It really helped.
Have they tested for cystic fibrosis?
Nose frida from Walmart or the traditional nose bulb but you’re going to have to plug one nostril at a time and suck the other. She will not like it in the least bit. Hopefully she feels better soon!
My husband’s dad showed me a old Mexican recipe for mucus. U get 4 cups of water boil it and put in a couple pinchs of Mexican oregano in there. Then shut it off and let it sit for about 30 mins then filter it. And add a couple pinchs of sugar. It helped my kids out so much when they had very bad mucus. Also vicks, steam showers and a nose sucker
Aspirator suck the snotters out, on ebay they are fab
this stuff is amazing && its all natural!!! only downfall it is STICKY!!!
Give her a menthol bath it will clear her sinuses out
Steam turn on shower with hot water and sit it will all come out
My husband and I felt pretty desperate in a situation with our baby too, we YouTubed ideas and we used a squeeze bottle to shoot through one nostril and huge globs of snot came out the other… jus one time a night and by the 4th day baby was good. It definitely had an immediate help, and we still
Do it when baby’s super congested.
Put the baby facing down and put Saline water through one of the baby’s nostrils with a nose sucker
Saline and suck boogers out… also during nap and bed time, sleep her sitting up or put a pillow under her so she can sleep elevated and not choke.
This medicine was awesome for my baby. It’s for a baby 6 plus months and up. I also used a nose Frida with saline solution and baby vaporub on chest, upper back, and feet.( put socks on after) My baby has instantly gotten better by the next day both times.
There’s zarbees cough and mucus I give it to my 4month old. He’s got RSV so I’m battling this right now. Squirt saline up his nose and then suction it out right after, and suction the back of the throat and mouth once they start coughing. Turn them over lay them across your leg and pat them on the back when the start coughing, they’ll spit it up. Also Vicks, put on the feet with socks and then they make patches that stick to the shirt. And Johnson and Johnson vapor bath, mix it in the bath water and then turn on the shower will create steam and fill up the room for them to breath in and wash them with it too.
Suck it out with a snot sucker thing. Baby’s hate it but will love it after.
As crazy as it may sound, gas drops! My daughter was 2 months old doing the same thing and that’s what her pediatrician recommended and it works.
Use a saline spray and the Nose Frida!! Mine had RSV and legit (no joke) saved their lives. It is the only aspurator with enough force to pull all that crap out of their sinuses
My daughter did the exact same thing …milk allergy. The doc put her on a soy based formula and it improved. However she continues to be allergic today 40 years later to different things. At 6 we spent a year giving her allergy shots and that helped some.
Lay baby belly down on your lap and pat their back with a cupped hand
When winding her keep her upright over your shoulder and keep patting her back, I know that don’t sound a lot. When sitting down lie her on your knee keep patting on rubbing her back. Sounds weird but it will work.
Sit her in the bathroom with the shower running! The humidity should help pull it out!!!
Nose Frida and elevate the head of the bed a bit by sticking something under the mattress. A little elevation helped my babies when they were all mucusy
You can actually get a suction bulb, it’s like a chicken baster, my girlfriend used to use it on her little one.
Have you tried to sit in a steamy bathroom with the baby , turn the hot water on in the shower and sit in the steamed bathroom with the baby
Don’t give them milk while sick. Makes their congestion worse. If the baby is ready to eat soft and solid foods, don’t give them any banana like foods. That will constipate them and cause gas problems.
My daughter struggled a few times with mucus when she was a baby. I laid her on her side and patted her on the back to break up the mucus. And I avoided giving her milk for a few days to get rid of the mucus faster. So she had diluted juice and some water and she got better with 1-2 days. She suffered from RSV twice. And there’s lavender baby vapor rub that you could buy. But use VERY little. Scent is kinda strong especially for a baby. But it will definitely help them breathe.
It’s time to change the name of the page…
Vicks on her feet then put socks on them
Sit in a steamed bathroom! Run hot water, steam room and sit for abt 10min
I’d say first off, even before a child is born, that ALL parents need to take a first aid and safety class. If the baby or child chokes, you will know what to do no matter what.
Keep baby upright when sleeping my dr said it’s okay to even sleep in the infant car seat if needed
Not useful for right now as it’s summer but my son has really bad asthma and when it gets too bad if I take him out in the cold it opens him lungs right up. His dr recommend it and I thought she was nuts until I was out of choices and tried it. I have also heard a raw potato or a onion on the bottom of the feet with socks works i have however never tried this hack. Good luck momma it’s terrible watching your kids being sick.
A breathing machine with saline solution every 2 hours is what I had to do when my little did that, then ran the humidifier every night. And warm baths with breath easy in it
Cool air humidifier helps big time.
My 8 month old is getting over his cold he had a lot of snots, runny nose and bad cough, I use the nose frida which sucks all the snots out I use that daily….I give him a warm bath every night in Johnson Johnson Vapor Bath it’s a green bottle works good it smells like Vicks I pour that in his bath water and let him sit there for a few I also put on his chest back and bottom of his feet Zarbees soothing chest rub and u also can use zarbees cold and mucus cough syrup for babies 2+ months!!!
Find a new Dr. and take her in!!
I’m going to recommend the best thing out there. I swear by this, when our little one would get sick this was my go to. It looks disgusting but they feel so much better instantly.
Try this one, I normally rub a little bit on the back, and on their feet make sure you put socks after and it’ll make baby feel so much better.
Best thing they ever invented
Have her gargle with warm salty water. Then put vic’s on her back and chest and also the bottom of her feet.
Take her to a hospital
Chest physiotherapy.
Turn the shower on hot water, close the door and sit in the bathroom with her. The steam will break her congestion up
I would use a booger sucker (new one) be gentle tho.
Wen you hear or Kno wen baby getting mucus there use it. I did wit my babies. Member they use those in the hospital wen baby is born to get all that stuff out their mouth.
CVS carrys a portable machine batterie operated sucks mucus out I would use it on my 2 youngest works miracles ask pharmacy at any cvs
I’ve been doing zarbees cough and mucous and a cool mist humidifier in his room at night also making the bathroom steamy to help break it up and giving him a bath to help relax him before bed
Use a nasal aspirator to suck out the sputum from your child’s nose, my daughter has a very bad cold at the minute and struggles with the mucus on her chest. You can use either the the bulb that is softer on the nose for younger children or the suction 1 for older. Keep them propped up at night as the mucus slides up from the chest to throat. Dehumidifier, via plug in work well as well. Hope she gets better soon
A little fresh orange juice with pulp or let her nibble on Orange. A few drops of mild saly water also
Sounds gross - There’s a thing that you can use to suck the snot out of their noses that could really help. My daughter has been congested since birth, I still believe they didn’t clear her nose and mouth properly.
Sit in the bathroom shower or bath on full blast HOT sit in the steam for an hour with her I used to do this when I was little for bronchitis it does work xx
Have her adenoids checked also. Have her room cold not hot not warm…
Help a mama out and respond anonymously on our forum. My six month old is choking on mucous, how can I help her?
Do a steam shower . Just sit in the bathroom
Hello I have a nine month old n when she was smaller she had the same issue. She has a milk and egg allergy n once I cut those out it solved the issue also the Dr prescribed her some allergy medicine.
I have also had my kids sleep upright in a bouncy seat when that happened . I rubbed vicks vaporub on their pajamas so they smelled it when sleeping
Does she have allergies? Maybe a childrens antihistamine?
Also the Frida nose sucker works the best May seem a little gross but works great.
Elevate her crib with a couple of books. Just the part where she lays her head.
Hydrasense baby nasal care totally worth the money.
Steaming up the bathroom and using saline will help break it up. I also while sitting in the steam bathroom cup my hand and pat my kids backs up and down to help with any chest congestion too.
Call your pediatrician.
Same with me not sure what it is
Have you tried the staying in a steam shower? Some kids get croup. My son did and steam showers, vaporizers for the bed at night and yes Vicks on the chest with a pajama keeping them from touching the Vicks helps. If they have it long enough go to the Dr as you may need steroids to get better or antibiotics.
Be careful to only use baby/infant vicks! Children’s Vicks and regular Vicks contain camphor which can actually increase the production of mucus! Never use on a child under 2 years of age!
I cut out milk started on soy formula helped very fast n no congestion allergies stuffy nose , ask pediatrician first ;”)
Nasal aspirator -
2 out of my 4 girls suffered terrible - after there night time bath use the sucker to give it a good clear out
Very gross but worth it for it them . Hope your daughter is ok x
Zarbees is amazing for mucus and stuffy noses Mama. My boy got a little cold and it helped him hack it out. Pat your babie on the back too gently in and upward motion to help knock it lose without harming them. It’s a good little mix. I used Zarbees vapor rub too. Zarbees is natural and safe, but ask your doctor to double check too to be safe every baby is different
Soooooo this is going to sound really really gross but it works. My best friend told me about it when my son was a baby… you stuck those boogers out with your mouth.
Or you blue in their nose really hard… but losen up the mucous first with steam. Omg my kid felt so much better. I didn’t give a crap how nasty it was, as long as my child felt better.
Nasal aspirator and saline. Suction her to help clear the mucus.
Use saline water in a can 3-4 times daily an she won’t have any more issues
Milk can cause excess mucus production
Nose Frida and saline drops.
My pediatrician use to tell me turn on the shower just hot water and bathroom sink hot water. Close the door and let my baby breathe in the steam and it worked to help all 5 kids to cough up that stuff. We did it twice before bedtime for peaceful night and twice in the mornings along with whatever medicine they were giving. Then rub baby vicks on them.
Your baby’s Doctor knows best.
Taking advice of the internet is not good.
Get well soon little one.
Turn the hot water on in your tub in the bathroom take her in there and close the door all the steam will help.
Do you have one of those blue bulbs to suction it out?
The humidifier loosens up the mucus and that causes coughing and choking on it. Have her tested for allergies.
