Go in bathroom run shower on hot water with door closed… The hot steam will help. When she sleeps prop her up… Pillows under her mattress. When babies are flat it makes it worse.
I used ocean spray a mild salt water solution nasal spray for babies…it worked for my son.
Take her into the bathroom and close the door let the shower run on hot water and the bathroom fills up with steam I use to put my child. In there stroller or walker many many years ago you may also put a book under her mattress to elevate her head so when she has mucus she won’t choke I think this just revealed my age we had not technology:)))) it was all old school
My 7 month old is just clearing up from the same… we did warm baths then Vick on feet chest back & underarms then did steam sessions in bathroom… she was able to sleep most of the night … during the day I used saline spray & nasal aspirator. It all helped but wasn’t clearing her up so back to the dr we went , he says it’s a mild case of RSV put her on antibiotics cough medicine & breathing treatments for 7 days… 2 days in & she’s 90% better sounding . So in the end I’d say make a trip to dr or ER ASAP infants can go from ok to not so good really quick with anything to do with lungs. Hope she feels better soon
Rsv is going around right now, suction her nose before feedings and as needed, sometimes dropping some saline in the nares helps to loosen it up first
Definitely time to see the Pediatrician. As a 30 year nurse, no offense to the Drs nurse but that child needs to be seen. ASAP. Could be as simple as allergies to cystic fibrosis. Please take this child to the doctor!!!
don’t speak to the nurse make sure you insist on speaking to the dr. don’t take no for an answer
Turn on the shower on really hot close the bathroom door. And sit on the edge of the tub. The steam should help her loosen it up.
Get a battery posted nasal aspirator. Works better than the syringe bulbs. $20 at Walmart. Worth every dime.
It could be from milk. Maybe your little one has a food sensitivity.
You should check and see if she is allergic to formala my youngest when he was first born had a lot of problems like that coughing and a lot of mucus and he even had a rash and they had to put him on soy formula isThey had me tent is crib with a vaporizer in his enfant sit at first and of course that didn’t work either and finally took him to a different pediatrician and he knew right away he was allergic to the formula and put him on Isomil formala which is soy milk like I mentioned earlier.I hope this information helps you.
I’ve heard that boiling a some lemon grass and ginger into a tea is good you just shave both about half a teaspoon and taste it yourself to make sure it isn’t too spicy and then feed it to the baby little bit at a time and see if it helps…I tried it on my nephew and it worked wonders
A Steamed bathroom helps, use Bulb Syringe and saline drops if have to thin out mucous. Take back to Pediatrician
Lay her across your lap on her belly … on a pillow helps and tap her back … it will break up anything and help bring up.
There is a little rubber bulb you can squeeze in mouth or nose to grabs the mucus. Prob at most pharmacies.
Indian Remedy: take tiny bit of rock salt and rub/melt in a spoon mother’s milk and give to baby. Mucus will break down and goes away in motion or she will vomit out all the mucus. This must be done before feeding the baby bcoz baby might vomit.
I took my son to the ER when he was 4 months because of this issue… turns out he had severe seasonal allergies, which they never really diagnose till later years
Definitely sounds like allergy to whatever formula she is getting or other allergies. Take her to a pediatrician ASAP
Make a meringue and let her eat it. You can spoon it into her mouth and it will help with all of that. My mother done this to me and I am 61 years old now this is the remedy her mother told her and it really works I have used it on my children. Moraine is a whipped egg white and then after it holds a stiffness and a little sugar to it and feed it to her
Apply vicks to chest, throat and feet. Have doctor check her chest. I wonder if she is allergic to something like animals or milk for example.
If the baby is congested , they probably need to cough to try to get the stuff out of chest. I think a Dr. Visit or to a ER or a 24 hour ER might help. Praying
Drinking water thins out mucus. Raise the head side of her bed like 6 inches. Not a pillow. Put something underneath it to raise it. If she drinks a bottle warm sugar water…or plain water if she’ll drink it. The extra water will also sooth the cough. Good luck, poor baby, pooor you!
I would raise her mattress at the head to help her drain that garbage whatever you use use it under the mattress !
Also the milk the child is on can make mucus build up
Sounds like she may have allergies…maybe boil a pot of water and keep it steaming for your daughter. It is miserable when our kiddos dont feel well. I wish your little sweetheart speedy recovery.
That is lots of mucus! Try laying her across your legs and pat her back to loosen the mucus. Maybe milk is also a problem! Can he or she drink from a cup, sitting up?
We’ve used marshmallow root for generations. You leave it in cold water for hours and drip it into their nose.
A quick trip to the Er and they will clear her chest out as the mucus can lead to a chest infection. And baby will suffer the Vicks. Vapour rub massage ur baby with it chest. And back. Under the feet. Under the arms and behind the neck. Under the chin. Make baby to bath in some warm water and add Vicks to that as well she should be ok soon
Succion succion succion!! Vicks under nose and on neck, back, chest and under feet and the humidifier… If you could find a nebulizer machine with w saline solution to soften all them boogies so that you can succion them out either w a nose frida , succion bulb or electric suction machine that should help!!! God bless your little one!!!
Mine did the same till I changed her formula. She was allergic to the milk I was giving her.
Lemon with a small amount of honey in a teaspoon, let het swallow it slowly. Give het a little heated apple juice. Followed by Robitussin DM for congestion. If you can get some children’s musinus. That could help. Hope this helps, l used to use remedy like this on my children.
Let the hot Water run in the Bathroom until there is a lot of steam , turn the Water off. Sit in the Bathroom with her for 10 Minutes .Make some Towels or Sheets wet and hang them up so the Air in the room isnt so dry
Not to scare you but please take him to be checked . My grandson did this and it turned out to be an airway defect.
Vics on her chest bathroom with hot shower running, cough syrup with a decongestant proper up on pillows to keep her elevatedmy dad in the olden days would give us babysoon. Of rye at his wits end good luck
Also you can when she is coughing lay her across your lap a softly pat her on her back to help her expel mucus, we do this with asthmatic baby and toddlers
Go to another doctor this is serious we lost our five-year-old cousin’s baby to this he had severe allergies and he choked so please go to another doctor and get some more help not trying to scare you just trying to help
Make sure she is well hydrated. Plenty of water will loosen and thin the phlegm making it easier to expel.
Take her to be seen. Rsv is real. My daughter had it and is no joke. If your not comfortable with the way she coughs or breathes then your instincts are to take her to be seen. She is too young for any meds with out a doctor saying so
What kind of milk is she drinking. My granddaughter is an adult but dairy products give her that glob of flem type stuff. She avoids it as much as possible. I don’t drink cows milk, only coconut milk. Also how cool is your home, AC, I’m speaking of. When the air in the room is too cool, I get really congested with mucus. Just some things not thought of often for children. Praying for a solution.
My kids are all grown now but their doctors always said to give them less milk/formula as that makes the mucous worse
My daughter to her son for cranial therapy and it helped big time with bringing all the mucus up
She needs to be seen by a Dr. She is only 6 months! Home remedies may make things worse.
No milk products. Makes phlegm worse.
Put the shower on hot and let her sit in the bathroom breathing in m
I use to take my son into a steamy bathroom. Rock him while he slept. And his buggers would slide out. Then I’d suck it up with the nose sucker. I also elevated him 1/2 - to an inch upwards. This help keeps him from choking on mucus while he sleeps. My doctor told me that it was okay. As long as it’s not over an inch. Also saline spray every 3 hours. And sucking buggers every 5-6 hours through out the day.
My son does this! He’s 2 years old now and has done this since he was born. Mainly at night time when he’s asleep he’ll wake up choking and spitting up mucus. His doctor prescribed allergy medicine and we’ve had no issues since!
It’s rsv, flu and with Covid I would take the baby to be checked. It can turn into Pneumonia or bronchitis
She needs to be seen by a professional. If your doctor doesn’t want to see her go somewhere else.
My sons Dad would open the babies mouth, and suck the snot from his nose with one big huff! (and obviously spit it out)That’s how they do it in Caribbean countries! I mean it might be gross but hey…its your baby and it works!
Try an allergist. Maybe she has an allergy.
put her over your knee and slap her back not to hard my dr got me do it to my six week old she vomited huge flem up
For the best advice take your child to the doctor or the ER to find out the cause of her problem and what to do about it.
Get help from a medical professional. All of these old wives tales like putting vicks on her feet are just nonsense. Facebook is not the place for medical advice
You NEED to talk to your baby’s pediatrician. They are the ones that are certified. I know you want answers but theres a lot of things that parents use to do back in the day that are not safe now for infants. I can tell you that when my baby had a ton of snot I used a saline spray (in the infant department) and sucked the extra mucus out of her nose and I also just did a steam shower. Due to her age they will tell you not to use ANY kind of medicine. And you might want to think if you have been around anybody that has tested positive for Covid lately
This happened with my 6 week old son. He was developing an allergy to milk, he was lactose intolerant and this was how he was showing it. At the time, he almost chocked to death, turned blue, husband had to dislodge the flem from his throat with his finger. Kept him on pedialyte until we could get him to doctor later the next day. Doctor charged his formula to soy based and he was fine after the big scare.
A bulb nasal syringe to suck the mucus out your little ones nose. You can find them in the baby section in most drug stores. I have four adult sons and I used them successfully on my sons.
You could put her on your lap facing you and start to tap with your hand from bottom to top all over the back do this for 5 minutes. I used to do this repeatedly during day and it helps .A bit tiring for you but worth it ,the physiotherapist at hospital recommended it so I did it with all my children.
Be sure and don’t give a baby under one year old any honey
My grandmother use to make me swallow Vaseline that made the mucous come out when I cough.
Isagenix “airways” sleep with your baby in a recliner more upright if tolerable. It’s shit for sleep but at least your baby will sleep and you will hold her knowing she’s ok, which gives you rest as well. Rub oil on her chest w carrier oil, not much , it’s potent . If you need help finding this, I swear I’ll send you some myself, it’s so scary mama, I get it.
Amazon sales these lil nose cleaners that you hook to a vacuum, I had to buy 1 when my son was a baby, they work like the ones in the hospital
No home remedies but it sounds like a milk allergy to me
A boereraat is:: take two spiinfuls of honey, 1 spoonful of Carbobate Soda (Koeksoda) and a 5ml Borsdruppels (lennon’s) mix well and let her take half a teaspoon every hour. The Carbonate soda loosens the mucous, the honey sooths abd the Boradruppels mends.
Ear nose & throat Dr to make sure the anatomy is appropriate, if no answers - then an allergy Dr to find out what is causing it?
Raise the end of her cot where her head is. A book or two under the two top legs. The mucous should settle in the lower part of her body. The elevation should help her to stop coughing also.
If its yellow or green…
She needs an antibiotic.
Tried and tested and works everytime.
Grate or chop one onion finely. Add one desertspoon of sugar and mix. Let it stand for about one hour. Add one desertspoon freshly squeezed lemon and one desertspoon honey. Give one teaspoon three times a day. Onion honey and lemon have anti bacterial and anti inflammatory components.
Give her a dollop of honey and turmeric mix. Such the mucus out of her nose.
Sounds like a dairy problem, switch formula or if you’re breast feeding cut dairy out of your diet
Use a cool mist humidifier and prop the top of the bed up with books
More than likely it’s the milk that’s causing that problem. Try a formula called Nutramigen. You can take her to the doctor but I promise you they probably won’t be of any help. Doctors love sick kids. That’s how they make money. Most will never tell you a milk allergy is causing the problems. I finally got answersby taking to them to a private doctor who was about seventy years old.
We used Bulb Syringe to get the mucous out of their noses best to see a doctor , if you can’t get an appointment fir her doctor right away take her to the ER! Don’t waste anytime!
Prospan it is made from Ivy leaf extract and keeps mucous loose
Fluids. Plus plus anything that will keep her energy to cope with the exhaustion from coughing. It’s really nasty!!!
Take her in to be seen. Six months is too young to take a chance on a home remedy.
Put drops of saline solution in her nose and use a nose sucker…I had the same problem with my eldest…kept me on my toes for keeping an eye on her…
Get her checked out for allergies
How can I believe a person with a six month old that is choking on mucous gets on social media for help?? Go to a dr half of these comments are crazy are you serious
make sure she sleeps at an incline
Stand in shower with vicks tablets for shower.
Maybe warm lemon an olive drink
Has she had a allergy test done?
It’s really nice to see different advices in hear, very interesting and great to see. A lot of it attends from cultural backgrounds and history that has been passed down from generation to generation. I certainly will be trying out a few. Thanks
I have always given boiled warm or room temperature water to my babies. Babies need water, not just only baby powdered milk. Boil water, let it cool down and give the baby room temperature water. Babies need to keep hydrated. Also, cleaning the back of the babies tongue to remove powdered milk residue also prevents muscus and all other issues.
I would have her checked by professional.
Keep sectioning it out. Is it green like infection? Or clear like allergies??
Has she been checked with over by a doctor?
Any history of asthma in the family?
Have a dr examine her. She’s only 6 months! Do not give her honey
Flush her nasal passages with saline via a syringe! Sounds cruel but it works!
Has she had a covid test?
Find out what’s causing the mucus… without finding the cause infections may soon sneak in
Pickle juice breaks up the phlegm and soothes the cough
Try a cool mist, warm air makes it worse… gl
Surprisingly, no one has mentioned cystic fibrosis… That’s something I would definitely have the doctor check for!! Prayers for you and your baby, I hope you get the help you need:heart:
Saline spray and a nasal aspirator
Try a little diluted pineapple juice , it works wonderful for a cough .
your baby needs to be seen by a dr.
Nebulizer. That’s all.
Put baby vick on their sole of feet
Drink hot water, hot lemon .
