Apple cider vinegar and coconut oil, drench the hair in the vinegar, let it dry naturally, then apply the coconut oil and comb with a good nit comb until there’s no more coming out, leave in over night and repeat the process again, then wash with shampoo and conditioner. yw, my kids return to school after this within 24 hours.

Use mayonnaise it doesn’t not only kill them but does wonders for the head and hair. Put a bag over his head and heat it with a hair dyer for about 15min and let it sit for an hour

High heat with a blow dryer!!

Tea tree oil… add it to your son and your shampoo or they make a tee tree oil shampoo… to help keep it from happening again.

Just get cheap conditioner use heaps on the hair, and using nit comb, comb over and over, then wash out conditioner.

Make sure to put stuffed animals in the dryer!

I got lice from my husbands little brother and we did the store bought shampoo and spray and i also put alcohol on my head and would straighten my hair everyday. I got rid of it in like 2 days. You also should wash your bedding everyday or every other day. I’m really paranoid when it comes to stuff like that so I always took extra precautions when getting rid of it.

Nix shampoo doesn’t work. You will have to get a shampoo called Nyda or “Results” and pick out each nit individually. Mineral oil with Saran Wrap works to smother the live lice. You will have to do it each week so the eggs that hatch don’t have tome to reproduce.

Lice don’t like hairspray or hair mousse or anything like that so ever since my daughter contracted head lice from school I always quit some sort of hairspray or mousse or hair gel into her hair. Making sure that your car seats have been sprayed for the lice is a must. I realized in one of my vehicles at one time there was head lice crawling on my vehicle car seat and yes they will be on your furniture where you lay all your pillows clothes stuffed animals.mayonnaise never did anything for me and my daughter I had to do the lice treatment and I had to make sure I took the lice comb threw our several times and. I ended up buying this product called mice away that shampoos and everything that really helped.you do not have to throw everything in the dryer everyday put all the stuffed animals in a plastic black garbage bag and set them in the sun. I can see you doing your sheets and pillowcases every day because that’s what I did to get rid of bed bugs. They don’t like the heat so even sitting them in the sun would help.that’s how I did it I wasn’t going to run up my light bill with the dryer like that lol. But now when it comes to bed bugs I did. don’t ever believe a landlord when they tell you they got rid of the bed bugs. And that’s where I’m leaving that. You also have to retreat the hair because of the eggs. the eggs have so many days they hatch. I had bought this spray that was for bed bugs and head lice and I would spray all my furniture all the car seats everything with it I mean even curtains could have the head lice crawling on them. You want to make sure you vacuum any areas with carpet.

Vinegar. Absolutely kills eggs and lice. Your child or you will stink but the lice and eggs will be gone. Also tea tree shampoo

See if there is a lice treatment center to have it professionally removed in your area. We use lice treatment of America. It’s about $130 and guaranteed.

He’s a boy so your best bet may be to cut his hair off… as for you, I have very thick hair and when I got lice I washed my hair every single day with HOT water, and the lice shampoo for two weeks straight and I washed my bedding every day. It was gone in a week. I’m sorry you have to deal with it. Lice is THE WORST

We got it a few month’s back. I didn’t use lice treatment on out hair. I washed my daughter’s hair like normal and towel dried it. Then combed into sections and used the comb to get the lice out. After her hair dried I combed again. I bought fairytale hair detangler from Walmart and sprayed her hair. I combed her hair out every night with the comb for about 2 weeks after her bath. I also washed everything in hot water. I put stuffed animals in garbage bag for 2 weeks and sprayed floors couch bed ect. With lice spray. You can also get that at Walmart. As for me I had no one to do my hair so I dyed my hair with the dye that has ammonia in it. Kills the lice and nits. As for my son I just shaved his head. Make sure you spray her hair with the detangler every day. It help’s her keep from getting it. You can also use it yourself. Once you know the lice is gone a hair mask works great to restore yours and her hair.

Dog flea shampoo and tea tree oil works best. I had lice 4-5 times in a row when I was 12 got it from the kids I babysat who were getting it from a kid at sunday school.

My daughter always got this and she had long thick hair!! Nix didn’t work. I used the home remedy of 1/4 cup oil and half cup vinegar! The vinegar smell kills the live lice and the oil makes it easy to slide out. I also used a metal comb to go through it. I did this every second day.

The lice shampoo might be drying out his scalp and making it itchy.
Get some tea tree oil and put a little bit in your shampoo and conditioner. It’ll help y’all not get lice again.

Tea tree oil. Fairytale hair products!

Also bought the tea tree shampoo and made her use that everyday lol

Just keep using the lice stuff every week. Do it for at least a month !!

Call the doc they have shampoo they prescribe. My daughter got it a few years ago and we followed the directions and never came back. Took HOURS to go thru her hair :sob: good luck

Use conditioner with some tea tree oil mixed in and comb them out in the shower

Use tea tree oil. Soak your hair for 20 mins. Then comb and I promise they will be gone. Works wonders

There is another thing to put in the hair it is Call ovide.

Mayo and a plastic bag

Soak in olive oil and rake out every strand. then wash with dog shampoo. works like a charm

If you have bedding and you’re tired of washing them every day. I recommend putting them in the dryer for a good hour or two. If you have errands to run for an couple of hours set off an few hot shot foggers in the bedroom! That’ll help smother any lice that may laying around.

The answer to your question is he could still be scratching due to bites. Lice feed on scalp so bites like a flea .

Also use a metal louse comb you can find in the pharmacy section at Walmart or an actual pharmacy

My family caught lice the boys amd hisband shaved their hair my daughter and i cut our hair short… we used nix mayo and lice treatment center ot didn’t work for us. I got this thing called a robocomb it shocks the lice and eggs dead and its also a comb that had a shock and they comb right out. I got it at walgreens for 20 bucks

Also take all stuffed animals and put them in garbage bags and store them for a few weeks in a hot space if you have one til they die

You have to make sure to do your carpets, couches and Chairs and your car

If there really aren’t anymore lice on his head, it could be him still itching from the bite marks the lice had left on his head.

I’d shave his head for sure. Lice & eggs gone!!!

Bag up any stuffed animal for 2 weeks. Any and everything in your house if you can’t wash it spray it

They sell electric lice combs that will zap and kill them and the eggs you can buy them at Walmart

Blue listerine and shower cap over night, works everytime!!

The irritation from the bites can last a few days

Also, the one thing everyone forgets to treat is the car and car seats.

Mayo will work the best instead of chemicals! It has to be on for atleast 4 hours lice can hold their breath you do not have to pick or comb out all the nits just MAKE SURE YOU REPEAT THE PROCESS IN EXACTLY 7 DAYS they hatch every 7 days. Its nonsense to wash curtains rugs toys all that mess they cant live longer than 24 hours with out a human host! Vacum everyday also use a straightener after you do the mayo the heat will kill the eggs

They bite their head and it irritates their skin. Also, you’re putting medicated shampoo on the irritated skin. It will take a little bit to stop itching

Use tree tea even after there gone suppose they keep away with that

A hot iron on everyone’s hair. You can hear the eggs pop

You have to literally go through every strand of hair individually and pick the nits off of the hair . My daughter has extremely thick , curly hair and I thought we’d never get rid of it ! She got it three times during school years . We used clothes pins to section off her hair . This was helpful . Also , the last time she got it , we got the pediatrician to prescribe her the expensive stuff and it worked along with picking each louse out of her head every single day . You need to also order the Robicomb . It’s a huge help ! And you need to bag up in lawn size trash bags all pillow , stuffed animals etc . Etc . I left mine in the basement for several months . All bedding and sofas have to be sprayed daily . Any costumes ( say for dance ) etc . And other items that can’t be washed need to go in the freezer and that will kill the lice . I worked full time and was a single mom and KNOW how you feel . I felt like I came home each day and started working another job ! The last case my daughter had was the worst . I had to cut many inches off of her beautiful hair to even be able to work through it . If your son is still scratching , he still has lice . Also , you can get scissors at the Dollar Tree for hair cutting . You cannot take them to a salon . I wish you much luck ! Just remember that every single thing you do has to be redone every single day until the nightmare ends . My mom had to go through my hair daily as I got it once from my child !

The treatment that worked for my kids was a bottle of rubbing alcohol, some tea tree oil and peppermint oil. Spray the hair until it’s saturated and wet. Put a shower cap on overnight and wash and comb in the morning.

My niece had a bad case of lice for a very long time. She has medium length, but SUPER thick hair.
I trimmed my boys hair down short, put tea tree oil in our shampoo bottles, but it seemed like nothing worked on my niece. The chemicals in the Nix shampoo burned her terribly. Tea tree didn’t work. Wed sit for hours combing at my house. Her parents weren’t follow up treating.
The only thing that worked is the fairy tales brand spray, rosemary repel spray. It smells nice too. I’d have her shower, help her scrub with the tea tree shampoo, comb, then load her hair with the spray, wrap her in a bag and shower cap, blow dry over that, then comb comb comb. Just a couple days of that and she was free of bugs.
Lice don’t even bother me now, after that whole ordeal.
Get anything you can into a dryer on high. Swap and wash bedding daily.
I learned lice are fragile little buggers. Get in a groove and they’ll be gone in no time.

Cheap vodka and a shower cap for an hour finally rid my family of them! None of the treatments or anything else worked.

Vacuum vacuum vacuum. Throw what ever you can into hot dryer!!

Tea tree oil and suave keratin conditioner. Put a few drops of the tea tree oil in the conditioner and put the mix in your hair and leave it for as long as possible. I put a plastic bag over my hair and a towel and left it for as long as possible and then went through it with a comb and then rinses the rest out after we were done combining it out. Thats what worked best for me. The stuff from the store did not work.

When my daughter and I got it we washed our hair with dawn dish soap and then soaked our hair with olive oil wrapped it up then put a shower cap over it .

I had 3 girls at school at the same time, spending lots of money didn’t work, I used conditioner, lots will bathing and bone comb, but tried to bone comb every day, as I live lays 8 eggs per day, it can take a few weeks to totally get rid of them, but always check 1 a week with condition, saves it getting out of control, l brushed my youngest hair every morning then put the bone comb through it, she wasn’t aware I was doing it for years, but prevention is better than the cure and cheaper, good luck, I’m pleased mine are grown up now x

This may sound crazy but try wyd 40 spray at your auto parts hold a towel over face and eyes wrap head for 1 hr then wash up

The shampoo may have dried his scalp out

It’s sounding like his scalp is irritated from the chemicals. Use tea tree oil instead.

Also, go to Target and get the Fairy Tales Rosemary Repel shampoo and spray. That actually keeps them away.

(Edit:
For those saying “natural products don’t work”, these products were recommended by both our pediatrician AND my FIL who is a licensed cosmetologist and has had his license over 40 years!)

Get one designed for asthmatics. They’re immune to what you’re treating them with!

Lice don’t like dirty oily hair. They cannot latch on… Washing your hair daily attracts tgem.

Use hair spray or gel on you hair and they won’t stick.

Use tea tree oil to deter tgem too.

There are plenty of 9ver the counter and prescription meds.

Wash all blankets and don’t forget the car seats and boosters…

I used vinegar and alcohol soak hair tie a bag around it wait 30 minutes and wash be sure to do everything in your house if left untreated you’ll continue to get them

I’m in Ms and we have a head lice treatment center. I had to carry my son 2 years ago. It cost $150 but it was sooo worth it! I spent that much trying to get rid of it before we went. He hasn’t had it sense.

My mom didn’t have the money for kits when we where little she would swear by vinegar and damn it worked - just the store bought white vinegar.

Get the electric comb. It’s amazing!

You can use hair dye. I had it once and just colored my hair.

Buzz your sons hair really short… it saved me a huge headache when my daughter had lice. My son was too young to sit still for treatment and shaving it was all he needed.

My oldest son’s babysitter gave him lice. I did the treatments twice. Washed sprayed and sanitized everything. I’m half Mexican and Filipino. My hair is crazy thick and past my bottom. I soaked our hair in baby oil and olive oil for a week just to make sure it was gone. It worked like a charm.

Take vinegar and spray the whole head down, leave on for 30 minutes then get a bottle of suave conditioner(white color) separate hair into sections, do not rinse the vinegar out, put the conditioner on each section as you go along and comb it with a lice comb. The knits will come rite off. Very cheap and easy. Do it every week or so till you see no more!!! It works, had to do it with myself and my daughter. Hope this helps

I dealt with head lice as a child, because I was soft for the less fortunate kids and took them all in as my best friends. Infuriated my parents because I always had lice because of it, and after awhile the shampoo stopped working.

My mom called the health department and they told her to use mayonnaise. I KNOW. Gross! But it works. You cake their head with mayonnaise and put a showercap on either overnight, or through the day (6-8 hours) and it suffocates them and they like fall out the hair when being washed out because of how greasy it is. I’d go with overnight so they ain’t playing with the shower cap all day or anything. But whatever works for you!

Gross but it works every time.

Good luck!

I have thick, curly hair and the lice shampoo in stores don’t work on my hair. I have to use the Lindane shampoo (prescription) as that’s the only thing that works on my hair.

Also, don’t forget to wash stuff animals(if you can).

One thing we’ve always used, and I’m a straight up redneck and you’ll see why, is cv-80d spray. It’s for livestock but you can use on yourself or older kids. Would not recommend younger ones. But I have used this on everything in my house, myself and husband and it works right away. My 2 years old I used the natural stuff on her. But it my help with his scratching because even tho you have combed thru, you may have missed a few. You can get this spray at any farm store.

Put tr tea tree oil in your shampoo it helps and it prevents then from coming back

Put tee tree oil in your shampoo’s. Your son may be having a reaction to the chemicals. Your pediatrician can give a large bottle of lice shampoo that your insurance covers.

Cover head with mayonnaise over night.

Straighten out your hair you can hear them popping

You can get it from walking next to someone in the grocery aisle. And make sure you are washing and drying or bagging up the toys too especially stuffed animals and dolls

Mayo put a cap on let it sit on their heads for 2 hrs then run the comb through it. Then wash out do it again.

The comb isn’t always the best. Use your fingers separate areas and just start picking.

Alternate with lice shampoo and olive oil! Olive helps get the knits!

The best kind hands down is Vamousse foam with a very tight made comb.

Blue Listerine, soak the hair and cover with a shower cap leave on a couple of hours and use a nit comb. A couple drops of tea tree oil spread over the hair every couple of days should keep them away. This is tried and true, my daughters have thick bottom length hair and this worked.

Lamp oil works great!

All the stuffed animals bag them up and ductape closed leave there for a week and that’ll kill anything in there

Make sure you bag up stuffed animals for two weeks! They could be on them! Also the bites from the lice will itch for awhile after even if lice are gone.

Use the oils , you use for your daughter … And ummm they are ?? Might be helpful for others … Smother the wee irritating things !! Hope you find relief

There’s a homeopathic spray called lice free on Amazon that is a godsend. I used it on my daughters semi thick curly hair and barely even had to come them out. Then I put tea tree oil in all of our shampoos and conditioners as a preventative measure and it worked.

Nit pick every single day. Treat everyone in the house and repeat the treatment as recommended. But daily nit picking cannot be skipped. (Not just combing but actually going through the hair in sections actively searching for nits.)

You can’t just treat the hair.

When my kids got it we used this stuff and it worked great

I kept my kids out of there room for a week and sprayed every day and just threw their bedding into the dryer for at least 40 minutes

Dying hair works too

There’s a Lice Clinic that’s a good place

Rinse hair with vinegar after mayo treatment. The vinegar releases the “nit glue” that helps them stay.

Rubbing alcohol directly onto the hair kills them and the eggs almost instantly.

I have dealt with this a couple times. Lice do not like peppermint or rosemary. Since you got the kit use it again on everyone’s head in a week. Keep combing your hair out with the little comb… If you can afford it go have it done professionally.

Put coconut oil in your hair, it moisturizes you hair and lice can’t live in it, they suffocate… Spray everything, if you can , sun your mattresses. It happens to just about everyone once…

Cheap conditioner & a nit comb. We did ours every night! Then tea tree spray & hair spray to stop reinfection!! They hate both xx. The kits don’t work, as the bugs have become immune …called super bugs!! X good luck xx

Robicomb works wonders!

Mix tea tree oil in yours and your son shampoo and conditioner it helps prevent lice and also prevents the eggs from being able to stick to the hair so when the bugs die there is no more to replace them

I’m sorry your going through this! What help me and my girls was not picking everyday and tree tee oil it is very strong odor wise but it does the job!

Every day cheap and I mean cheap the cheapest mayo you can find … hair must be dry to start… cover your head in it and then wrap a plastic bag around your hair and let it sit 45 minutes to and hour … comb out with lice comb and then wash … or you can use dog flee shampoo with no oat meal … my kid got it every time I turned around nothing else helped … also make sure you get rid lice spray for your carpet , and mattress… put very thing else in the dryer on high heat and let it run through the whole cycle including pillows… any stuffed animals the kids may have put them in a bag and get as much air out as possible let it sit for 2 weeks untouched or put in the dryer

Use cooking oil not mayo . I worked w a doctor that told me that. The oil does something to the hair making them not like it so less likely to return oil all day morning till bed. It’s messy but it works . Canola oil or veg. Oil. He told me to do kit first then next day follow w oil .also stuffed animals toys , furniture ,pillows etc wash what u can if u can’t wash out them in the sun outside for the day, vacuum ur furniture. Also there are professionals that do treatment in the area Medicaid pays for most offices they are great but basically do the same thing I just said

Our school had a huge break out last fall. And my daughter had them the very first time ever. The nurse said to go strand by strand and pick the nits our by hand, treat twice, take everything from stuff animals that can’t be washed spray treat and tie them in a dark trash bag for 2 weeks. She also suggested that since lice love clean hair to spray a little hair spray before sending her to school to help prevent. It worked!!! Good luck!!!
