Questions about c-sections

What do you wear after you have a c section, and how long does it take to heal? I’m two weeks pp, and everything hurts to wear near it. Thanks!

Anything comfy. They sell seamless underwear at walmart. Dresses?

I honestly stuck a maxi-pad into the front of basically ALL of my pants for a bit, just to keep things from rubbing. Also low-rise undies. It took a few weeks, if I remember correctly, for the pain to get more bearable. Good luck! You will get there!

It took a good 2-3 months to heal completely. At that point the incision site (which was a horizontal cut) was numb and has been ever since. I feel no sensation there at all.

Loose clothing, underwear couple of sizes too big , nothing with firm or restrictive waist bands .

I kept wearing my maternity pants lol

For me high waisted tighter leggings. It worked because it kinda held everything in and it helped walking for me. If you can get a postpartum waist band thing. They sell them at Walmart in the baby section.

Wear your maternity leggings. With huge cotton pants that go up to your belly button. Make sure theres no seam along the scar  c

I bought surgical pads and put them over it so my clothes wouldn’t rub the incision. Between those and my belly band, my clothes didn’t rub it. I have complications so I do not know the normal timeline for healing.

I am three years past and still can’t lay on my stomach.

I wore dresses for WEEKS! Everything else hurt too bad. At two months out I was back in leggings. Three months out I wore high waisted jeans so it didn’t touch incision.

I wore sweatpants for like the first few weeks

A waist band and maternity pants

Loose fitting clothes. I wore sweat pants, baggie shirts and dresses ( not formal) like sundresses not skin tight ones. It too mine 6-8 weeks to heal.

Did they give you the wraps? I was back in the gym walking on the treadmill at two weeks. Walking helps to heal effectively Nd prevents blood clots. Good luck!

Pyjama pants and loose sweatpants for about another month or so. Even a year later still couldn’t wear some of the clothes I bought before getting pregnant because of healing (I ended up with a fluid filled sack called a seroma along my incision).
Honestly, anything stretchy waist or high waisted is best.

Elastic banded pants, leggings, dresses, tummy control panties. I also put a maxi pad on my pants to help.
As for pain. I took Tylenol & my narcotics in the morning depending on my schedule. I also took hot baths at night & used a heating pad.

I’ve had 3 c sections within 4 years, I wore the underwear the hospital gave with a pad over my incision… I also wore really stretchy leggings so they weren’t tight on my belly. Do as much walking and moving around, you’ll heal faster the more you use your belly muscles.

Undies a size or two too big and dresses. Keeps the pressure off the incision site.

Mat leggings and yoga pants … I did wear jeans at the two week mark but I have no feeling at all near my scar

Well doctors say 6 weeks to heal after surgery. So expect that. If it feels better before that then awesome

I wore high waisted leggings and highwaidted underwear for the first couple weeks

I wore yoga pants (that went to my belly button) and high waisted panties. When I went back to work, lots of dresses!

Maternity clothes and give it 2 more weeks. Never had major pain or took anything for it but moved slow and was careful

High waisted undies and pants

I wore pj pants that had a loose fit. I felt better around 3-4 weeks and I was able to lay on my stomach around 4 weeks just fine. But everyone heals differently.

I wore mostly yoga pants, I also wore my post partum jeans with my first but I had a post partum wrap given to me at the hospital.

Maternity clothes and elastic waist bands

Knit pants worked best for me. It can take a long time to completely heal but I stopped hurting after 8 weeks.

I loved the binding its all that made it feel better, being extremely consistent with using it as tight as I could. My Mom is a nurse and helped me alot. I took myself off the pain meds cuz it was messing with my ability to nurse. I was walking around Target within 2 weeks in my martinity yoga pants.

Continue wearing maternity bottoms where the waist is up by your belly button

Everything hurts to wear for a while. 14m pp and I’m just now wearing Jean’s again that arent highrise.
Best advice is move around and stay active.
My maternity nurses were shocked at how quick I got up and got moving. A week PP, I was doing most everything i could before and I attribute it to getting up and active quickly!

Stretchy pants I couldn’t wear a hard belt for the longest.

First week was the worst , I wore yoga pants and used a post op belly binder after that I was fine . a little discomfort but nothing too bad. Walking helped a ton I was walking around my local mall 4 days after my c-section

Wear your maternity pants and a baggy shirt

I took close to the full 6 weeks to heal with my c-section…around week 2 maybe 3 was my worse pain time frame. When it got to a certain part of healing it burned a lot. I wore a lot of sweats and dresses while it was healing.

Yoga pants and granny panties were my friends for several weeks post c section.

I wore the nursing nighty gowns for the first 2-3 weeks, and then high waisted leggings. I also bought high waisted undies to wear until i wasn’t tender around my incision anymore. Took about a month and i was able to wear my normal undies with out any discomfort.

Maternity clothes and old lady panties that go way over the scar.

I did big sweat pants, maternity bottoms and underwear granny pantys that came up way High… and I hurt for several weeks after!

The biggest granny pants you can find that come up past your belly button. And leggings or joggers unless going out than maybe a dress nothing too clingy :tipping_hand_woman:

I wore loose jammy pants and loose sweat pants when going out. Everything is going to hurt for some time. After about a month it will only hurt occasionally, and around 7 weeks you will have little to no pain at all.
But, keep in mind, doing some tasks and stretches it will hurt. Also, phantom pains are a thing and may knock you on your ass once in a while.
Take your pain meds the dr gave you. It’ll help with the pain, but don’t over do it while using those pain meds or the next morning it will hurt that much more!

I kept a menstrual pad on it to protect it for as long as I felt the need. And yoga pants a size or 2 too big.

Sweat pants and stuff like that and 6 weeks

I wore dresses and my boyfriends shirts

I had to wear lot of yoga pants for several weeks after C-sections. I still have some days that I can’t wear jeans because the button hurts my stomach.

No pants if you can help it… Dresses are best… High waisted under wear…

Oh, and I used the binding bandage the hospital gave me as well. I kept myself wrapped from just below my scar to halfway up my rib cage. That helped alot.

I’ve had 3 csections. Longest recovery time I’ve had was with my 3rd. 4 weeks.

I wore my husbands shirts and stocked on the high af panties, ive had 4 of them, my last one was actaully really easy, i was up and walking as soon as i could feel my legs again, no baths tho, i was so excited to be able to take a bath again, the more you move the faster you heal,

I wore sweats, nightgown anything comfy. I was sore for 4 weeks but it took 8 weeks to heal completely. Don’t worry it gets better

I had 3 c-sections, usually felt pretty okay by 3-4 weeks PP.
I wore Yoga pants, leggings, sweat pants, dresses.
I also kept a pad over my incision, it helped with the healing process (kept the incision dry) and it helped with taking away pressure/friction being directly on the incision from pants and underwear.

I still wore maternity bottoms for months.

I wore loose nursing gowns and big ol granny panties

Big underwear that came up to my bra and loose fitting dresses if I had to go out.
I started feeling a little better after 3 weeks, my scar is still sore 6 months pp, but I was back to most daily tasks by 6 weeks - not much it stops me doing, just slows me down a bit

I wore my regular clothes and I was healed and back at work (construction crew) 2 weeks later. I was out running errands a week later.

Wear stretchy pants that are comfy and come above the incision scar. I had a vertical cut and it suuuuuuucked wearing anything. When you can be free and let it breath.

My son is 7 months and sometimes mime is still sore

I wore leggings and long baggy tops for a good 3/4 weeks after mine. After that just tops and leggings with a hoody( my usual)

Extra big comfy clothes. Make sure not to walk around doing much, let it heal first.

Sweats during healing are your best friend

Very loose fitting clothes like leggings, pj pants and the mesh undies the hospital gives you. The super huge pads they give you help too if you put it across the bottom of your belly and then put on stretchy pants. It takes at least 8 weeks to heal.

I wore leggings and comfy clothes.

I wore an abdominal binder when it got really sore.

Dresses and night gowns.

Ugh I wore really soft granny panties and a dress. That’s all I could wear for about 4 weeks before I could wear maternity pants and still granny panties and about 7-8 weeks when I started wearing normal undies again.

Abdominal binder. All day every day until I felt like my insides wouldn’t fall out. And lots of leggings/yoga pants or maternity pants

I got a smaller wrap from the hospital. That helped a ton! Kept it protected so I could wear my pjs pants

Stretchy pants and if you move around u will feel better faster, if you lay around too much you won’t heal as well and risk blood clots. And it’s ok to shower and encouraged 3 to 5 days post op depending on the doctor. And yes you can soap it and rinse really well. U will thank me later.

I opted for high waisted pants. Mainly yoga pants for the first few weeks. But even now 2 years later, certain things bother my incision if they are low cut.

I had my gallbladder removed less than 2 weeks after my daughter was born. Not the same thing I know, but I wore my maternity pants I just kept the band from touching my cut

I wore an abdominal binder forever and huge sweats. It’s the only thing that didn’t make me feel pressure around my incision. I would do it again!

My first I was sore for months, my second maybe a week. I wore very light underwear that went over my belly button. And then sweat pants or light pajama pants also over my belly button. With baggy or long tops, or sometime just dresses…or no pants depending who was around.

I wore sweat pants lol. And I had them tied above it😂 don’t judge me

You wear whatever I s comfortable. Takes a long time to heal properly.

I was always most comfortable in high waisted leggings. Any think else would bother it.

I couldn’t wear jeans or anything that wasn’t stretchy and lose for months. I still can’t wear any low cut jeans without it irritating my scar and I’m almost 10 months pp.

I wore alot of sweat pants, pj pants, and dresses. Basically anything that sat above my incision or didnt touching it

I had my daughter via c-section 9 years ago and I can’t wear undies that land on the scar. Anything too tight hurts like crazy.

I did granny panties (full briefs), high waisted pants, and my maternity support band.

High waist undies and yoga pants were my life for about 8 weeks pp.

My incision was vertical (it was an emergency) so I wore dresses.

Big nana undies and high waisted stuff.

I wore a maxi dress, and sweats 2 sizes too big

The belly band
If nursing u also will be extra overheated and so sweaty…so leggings and belly band is good enough

Loose leggings/yoga pants when I wasn’t home and big long T-shirt’s/nightgowns when I was home.

I used super loose and soft granny panties and men’s jogging shorts and pants or full length dresses and sleep shirts

I wore maternity leggings and underwear that doesn’t have elastic. And, this is weird, but I put cold pads on it when I was walking around my house, it helped a lot. And the time it took to heal was faster than my first, I also walked around my house more often and it helped from being to sore to do anything. I couldn’t wear pants for almost a month because my stomach and the incision was numb and hurt

My first c section took me 7-8 weeks to heal and I mostly wore sweatpants. My second c section I healed in about 3 weeks. I still can’t wear jeans because it irritates the scar

I’m on week two post c section, I feel like I’m healing quickly and well. But then I over do it and feel terrible after. I’ve been wearing my mat pants still, as well as sweats and pjs. Anything with a waistline puts pressure onto incision site and the skin/stomach above it.

Dont remember it was 19 years ago… I just remember the staples being itchy

Loose Pj pants and sweatpants and large high waisted (that went up to my belly and over my section wound) underwear or those mess underwear’s the hospital gave you. I had those underwear’s for about 2-3 weeks on then switched to regular high cotton boy shorts underwear

Hi waisted loose pants.

Take 6 weeks to heal from a C-section

I wore dresses or very lose clothes it took me a month and half to heal my incision opened so took longer to heal

I never really had an issue with mine up and about the same day just wore baggy clothes n pulled them high over my wound so it didn’t catch or run didn’t wear underwear for a week or two tho n if I had to it would be big granny pants

It’s not going to feel normal for awhile. High waisted Leggings are your best friend
