Should a 2 year old dye their hair?

Do it. She’s only gonna have so long to just not give a F about what others think. Use Kool aid or food dye.

I would definitely use a temporary color, and keep it off the scalp, but why not?? It’s hair!!

Is there a spray-on color that washes out but doesn’t seep into the scalp? Would she be happy if you sprayed her hair with pink silly string?

Try colored hair wax. No damage and it washes right out

They have brushes with temporary color you can comb through her hair

Entirely too young. If you go against all this advice, at least ask her doctor first.

I agree it’s fun. And iv let my kiddos dye their hair. But personal i wouldn’t do it at 2. Just my opinion

Hair chalk or kid temporary color would be fun but I would not use actual adult dye on a 2 yr old baby

Not actual die ( the same you use ) there are stuff for little kids that will not damage her scalp or the hair .

No :-1: … I’d say Color hair clip in Extensions would be a more safer option for her especially for being a 2 year old

Not adult die NO WAY !! IF other safer ways without the fumes chemicals and s#it what in normal 1 x

That’s completely up to you and your partner as parents find a safe option tho xx

Spray on color, chalk color, colored clip in extensions or there is color waxes. None permanent and they wash out. If she’s blonde i would say dye the tips, but if dad is against it, I would try the previous as a compromise. I do my kids tips when they want but I won’t do their whole head because I dont want to damage their hair at the roots. Kids have 16 years before society tries to put them in a box, so I say as long as it won’t hurt them, let them express themselves. But dad has a say too :woman_shrugging:

use the spray on colour dont dye her hair way too young

As a hairstylist I say don’t do it her hair is still maturing and in my opinion could be damaged.
But that said please don’t do it roots to ends maybe just the tips so if damage occurs you can cut it off.

Personally I would wait. Even the hair chalks have a recommended age for a reason.

Non oxidising colours, sure if her hairs not to dark but definitely no semi’s demi’s or permanent colours or bleach! Some non oxidising colours, hair chalks and colour rinses can still stain the hair and become difficult to get out. I say to kids if they ask for a colour that it doesn’t work on kids, only teenagers and grown ups. Colour Clip in extensions or spray hairs are my go to

They have the chalk hair u just rub on

Kool-aid. It will eventually wash out and no harm to babygirls hair! Or the Halloween spray on color that will washes out. Definitely no permanent colors! Good luck!

They do make kid safe dyes that my friends use on their kids. However, a child doesn’t get everything they want.

We use artic fox hair dye on our kids and it’s only hair after all

That’s your business.

Try this Kool aid trick maybe

How to Dye Your Hair With Kool-Aid - 5 Steps.

Manic panic or artic fox. It is HAIR lmfao so ignore the stupidity. Those two brands are non toxic and vegan as well. Kids are meant to have fun and enjoy life. If she wants colored hair then let her have colored hair. My son was four when he wanted a bright blue Mohawk, daughter was three and wanted pink and purple, and my other daughter wanted rainbow underneath with black overlay, she also had Ariel red, and dark green before too and she just turned 12. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Nothing with bleach in it. You get those conditioner colour powders that you mix with conditioner and they wash out quick

Why has this question even been asked it should of stopped at 2 year old what next can I tatoo my 2 year old :expressionless:

What is wrong with you!!!

As long as you’re using safe brands and nothing with seriously harmful chemicals I don’t see why not. I would be more worried about the chemicals hurting her than actually changing hair color

No way, hair chalk maybe but why? I never had hair until I was 2 1/2 lol :joy:

Around Halloween there usually is spray on hair color that washes out.
Maybe you can find one on Amazon.

Do the research to find the right, child safe, product and no bleach…or even better go to a professional just to be sure you’re being safe
Aside from that it’s YOUR child to make decisions with, and their natural hair will grow back

If you use chalk or something like that something that washes out. Definitely too young for semi or permanent dye

Crazy colour is a temporary was in colour safe for kids, I’ve used It on my daughter for the past 2 summers

Seriously??? A two year old…why would you even consider it?

I just use washable paint

No way how would they even know about dyeing their hair at 2 yrs old

Buy a temporary one. We got sprays for that. I think it was a couple of dollars at the reject shop

Get some hair chalks or something. Child friemdly

Hair chalk is a good solution for young kids. Washes out easily, doesn’t damage the hair, and let’s her have some fun without the hassle of making sure a 2 year old isn’t playing in wet hair dye. There are safe options such as Arctic Fox brand dyes, but again…getting a 2 year old to not touch her head while it’s processing would be a task in itself.

Arctic Fox brand is safe for kids, and if her hair is light enough it will work. Do NOT bleach, as that is absolutely not safe for children’s hair.

My daughter is 5 and she started doing fun colors at 3, starting with pink as well, and she has adored it. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Most the spray one will not be very “safe” for a child’s hair and will stain if they have a lighter color hair. Hair chalk is simple solution as many had said. They do make vegan/cruelty free dyes but imo 2 is very young to do it, although it is just hair there are still other aspects involved.

I use to have my daughter sit on the counter
while l cooked dinner or baked cookies.
She also learned to count with a deck of cards, and was able to play solitary at 5yrs old… Sorry, l guess I’m " old school ",
I understand times are CHANGING !!!
So, You Go Girl !! just stay safe !!

Use a temporary one to make sure she really likes it before doing permanent! But otherwise why not

Definitely too young

My partner died our kiddos for her 4th birthday. I was personally heavily against it. So from now on we’ll use the cheap chalk dye that’ll just wash out quickly. There’s a lot of chemicals in most dyes. No need to damage a little kids hair imo.

Help a mama out and respond anonymously on our forum. Should a 2 year old dye their hair?

Mayhe a 1 day spray but not more then the 1 day spray

Yes… It’s more down the road issue for me… She will think she is allowed to do anything she wants whenever she wants… Give her a a special bday. Like when ur 5 we can get ur hair done

I didn’t let my daughter dye her hair til she was 12 and even then it was temporary dye. But there is hair chalk and also this hair stuff that you can use it looks like a mascara tube and brush but I can’t remember what they are called.

I was going to suggest hair chalk. My daughter got pink hair at the salon at age 5…

Crap my 2 year old barely had hair! I taped bows on her head! Lol

My daughter had some pink manic panic in her hair when she was 4 or 5, she loved it and her hair was fine. It was fun for us both

Get the hair that clips in. I wanna say Claire’s sells them, maybe even Walmart. Or a wig

Honestly, I wouldn’t care at all. There’s color depositing conditioner that would absolutely fade over a couple of weeks and its HAIR. Color fades, length comes back. I’ve never quite understood why so many people are against that self expression.

I’ve let my 6 yr old son dye his hair for the last year different colors… my niece who went to school for hair dressing does it. She uses arctic fox semi permanent hair dye. It doesn’t have the harsh chemicals in it that most hair dyes do.

Do it,dont be starting to control their choices and bodies before they even know they have a choice
Let he be creative and wild and have fun. hair color wont hurt anyone

I put pink arctic fox on my daughter’s bangs and tips. It faded out pretty quickly

No I would not. Try Fairy Hair. Girls of all ages like it and it gives that little glisten to the hair.

I wouldn’t…but instead you could use: hair clips (they come in a lot of colors), temporary spray, hair chalk, or kool aid.

There is temporary stuff you can use as stated I wouldn’t do actual hair dye though

Must be a pretty smart 2yr old to be able to let you know she wants Pink hair

Get a temp one or use kool aid so it comes out
I myself would not use regular hair dye on someone that young but each to their own🙃

Just use the wash out stuff. My 4 and 7 year old begged me.so I bought a jar of stuff it’s good for 5 washes.
My 4yr old has very blonde hair and it came out of hers just fine.

Get the hair spray colors. My oldest loved those when she was little and it just washes completely out the next time they take a bath :woman_shrugging:

If you were going to color her hair that young I’d be more concerned for the fumes and allergic reaction. It would be best to color with something natural. Beet juice would obtain a bright pink and last for quite some time.

They have color hair spray

If it was me, I’d say no. They will have enough time to dye their hair as they get older. Why not try clip in hair colors, or maybe some hair crayons. It washes right out. D

I let mine when she asked at 10. They make clip in color extensions also.

Just use some kids pink hair spray. Temporary and doesn’t damage hair ( if you ge the right stuff)

There’s colored gel/chalk they work pretty well

Oh come on:woman_facepalming:t2::woman_facepalming:t2:

I personally think it is too young. Give her something to look forward to as she gets older. Definately not regular dye as it has so many harsh chemicals and would tear her eyes up.

My grandson wanted some when I was doing my daughters hair, so I put in a little cotton candy foam wash out, he loved it.

Get the temporary stuff, that’s what we use on my daughter’s hair

In my opinion…a 12 year should not be dying their hair…

Get the spray or the chalk… no harm comes right out … they have the shampoo colors also that comes out in a few washes…

Hair grows and colors fade. Pick your battles. My “kids” are all over 40 now. They went through all the crazy styles and colors growing up. One battle I never fought.

Use the wash out stuff. If the hair is too dark please do not even think about considering bleach. My 6yo has been wanting her hair be dyed a different fun color, but because of her color it’s hard to find anything safe to do. People said she’s old enough to dye her hair but no it is so bad for them that young.

I use unicorn hair from Walmart on my kids. A lot of fun colors it’s vegan and I believe no harsh chemicals. It doesn’t burn or irritate them. It’s temporary and don’t swim for couple days after or it will wash right out. Last about a month or so. I let mine do over the summer months

I’d use the color conditioner that temporarily dyes your hair.

There is a gel like hair dye that comes out after 1 wash. Try that, otherwise…yes at 2 not good for health reasons

My girls are 9 and 11 and we use a tinted conditioner last about a week and keeps hair amazing

Your child is TWO
She probably wants to be a mermaid, are you going to let her try and live underwater?

We did my nieces hair with kool-aid when she was like 4 bc she really wanted it.
But I also let my son dye his pink (semi permanent) when he was 4

If blonde can use koolaid on the tips

hair chalk… my son is three and if he wanted to have some green the next time i do mine green i would happily get some hair chalk for him

Y’all ain’t never heard of kook aid dips?

Kids don’t know what they want at 2 lol

One year of Halloween my son wanted to be joker green hair and all  we found a color hair gel that washed out and colored his hair

My son was about 3 and had a funky hair day at school, I used food coloring…granted it was a mess lol, but it washed out.

There hair chalk for kids?

Use hair chalk, it washes out easily.

Don’t do it! My daughter is 8 and I did her hair when she was 5 :grimacing: totally stuffed her hair up! My ex asked me if his misses could do the tips of my younger daughters hair not long ago and I said that’s fine as we can cut it when it starts to fade just didn’t want it near her ears length atleasttt, they agreed… They ended up doing half her hair, not the bottoms of her hair but half meaning they lifted the top half of her hair and did all the rest of her hair… My eldests hair still hasn’t gone back to its original colour completely… My younger draughters the same the top part of her hair is blonde and underneath is dark blonde/brown.

Hair chalk, hair markers, kool aid, bingo dabbers, eye shadow and hair gel, coloured hair gel, they even have hair stamps, and kits for children at Walmart. My daughter cut her hair off so I let her dye it for school and now we do it every so often and now her blonde hair is growing in brown I wouldn’t recommend using temporary hair color that lasts longer then 8-10 washes it never leaves their nice natural hair :woman_facepalming:

Clearly the boyfriend has common sense!!!

Hair chalk “which honestly I think I will try on myself”. Depending on how dark her hair is you can use Kool aid. Or even that spray in a can that comes out during Halloween will work. YOU AINT GOT TO USE THE REAL DYE Y’ALL!

If her hair is light colored, it may stain it. Just a thought, if you do this now. At some point chalk and spray wont satisfy her. My thought is, too early. Get a “clip in”
hair bow with pink hair and call it a day. Baby hair (cuz at 2, she’s a baby) will totally absorb whatever you put in it.

Buy a wig or hair markers
