Should I be concerned about breastfeeding?

My baby is currently 6 months old. I did not get my period as yet. Should I be concerned. He is breastfed most of the time and has a 120ml Formula top up either twice or thrice a day... Depending on my milk supply.

I breastfed for around 9 months, I didn’t get a period until I fully stopped. Nothing to worry about xx

Breastfeeding can alter your cycle its totally normal

I wouldn’t be! Totally normal especially if you are breastfeeding.

I breastfed my son almost 2 years and it took about a year and a half for mine to come back. It can be normal to not have a period while you’re breastfeeding

I just finished my journey of breastfeeding five and a half months ago. My son was 25 months old when he decided he was done. My cycle never came back until he was 8 months old

Totally normal…kind of nature’s way of keeping you from getting pregnant to soon after just having a baby

I exclusively pumped for 14.5 months. Mine came back 2 months after I stopped.

I gave my baby formula and breast milk the whole time. Nothing wrong with making sure your son is not hungry

I strictly formula fed and didn’t get my period til 8 or 9 months with my third lol

Have you took pregnancy test

It is common not to have periods while breast feeding but not all time

I breast fed but was pregnant at my post natal check :joy:

I didn’t get my period until after I stopped breastfeeding/pumping at around 10 months post partum.

Totally normal. I didn’t have my first period when feeding my first born until 11 months x

Totally normal. But just in case you don’t know, you can still get pregnant so make sure you use protection.

It’s very normal I breastfed for one year and did not have one the whole time. after I stopped breastfeeding it came back

My 3rd baby, I breastfeed, I didn’t have a period at all, then I got pregnant with my 4th, I breastfed currently, I’ve had a period every month since. They have been late/early but I’ve still had one.

I am going on 13 months breast feeding still haven’t gotten my period

It’s normal for breastfeeding
There’s still a chance you’re fertile.

I didn’t get my period back for 7 months while breastfeeding THEN it was spotty when I did …my baby is 16 months and I am 6 months pregnant

Enjoy it while it lasts! I didn’t get mine for about nine months.

When i was breast feeding , I didn’t get my 1st period back until 15 months after birth , I also breast fed both my kids until 3 years old each , as of 15 months , my period came back normally

Take a test … thats how I found out I was 5 months pregnant…

If you’re breastfeeding, it takes a lot longer for your period to become regular. I became pregnant back in 2018 (obviously period stopped) he was born 2019 and I didn’t get my first period until 2020. After my first period, I didn’t get a period again indicating I was pregnant lmao so I had him in 2021 and I’m breastfeeding him so I haven’t had a period except once for 3 1/2 years:rofl: and I probably won’t until 2022. Boy am I not ready for that day:woozy_face::woozy_face:

Maaaaan better take a test!

missing some information here so maybe ask your doctor or provider

I didn’t get mine until 13mpp. I stopped breastfeeding at 12mpp.

I’m still breastfeeding my 20month old and still haven’t gotten a period. No I’m not pregnant…we are actually trying.

Normal but keep an eye on it. Got pregnant before period came back twice

That’s normal. I didn’t have a period until I stopped nursing when my daughter was 13 months old.

The SECOND I quit nursing I got pregnant! Beware lol

I nursed all 3 of my girls, never had a period in between pregnancies. Got pregnant while nursing the second one. Nursing is not birth control, and just because you aren’t getting a period doesn’t mean you aren’t still ovulating. I nursed for at least 18 months each baby.

I didn’t get my period back till like 16 months PP.

Most women who breastfeed take longer to get their regular periods back. I breastfed 4 babies and each time I got my period back 1 month after I stopped breastfeeding. Even the baby I breastfed a complete year. Don’t be worried about it.

I never got my period until I stopped breastfeeding 100%. Even at 2 feeds a day when they were over a year old.

If you’re concerned take an at home pregnancy test…but every one of my kids were breastfed and each time I didn’t have a period

A friend of mine didn’t get her period till 9 months pp and she breast fed I breast fed and did formula and got mine about 4 months pp everyone is different x

I breast feed my 18 month old still and did not get my period back until 15 months pp

If you’re sexually active and not using any sort of preventative, there’s always a chance. I breast fed my daughter, never had a period, got pregnant and didn’t find out until I was 18 weeks. I got pregnant 7 weeks after I had my daughter.

I exclusively breastfed my 3 kids and was never blessed enough not to have a period. Everyone is different. But a pregnancy test is only a dollar so I’d check if I were you.

I breastfeed and didn’t get my period till my baby was 11 months old. It’s normal, and if you’re breastfeeding, it can take longer

I breastfed both of my children and i didnt get my period until about a month or so after they were weaned. Perfectly normal

I didn’t get my period for nearly a year after I had my son. I don’t know if my circumstance was normal, but yours definitely is. I was told it normally takes anywhere from 6-10 months to get it back for most women.

If you are having unprotected sex…you should be concerned. If you have taken those precautions, and baby eats regularly, you are likely one of the lucky ones. Enjoy being a mommy .

breastfeeding is the world most used contraception because it inhibits cycles (but don’t trust is as a solo method if spacing family is essential OK!) this isn’t that unusual The most cycle inhibiting/ lactation promoting feed is the night time feed. If you want to keep this going then top up in the morning - if you want to wean off then replace the night feeds with bottles.

Sometimes this is not when breastfeeding full time it when it happened to me I was pregnant again

No with my son I didn’t have a period for a year and a half… with my daughter I’ve had one in 6 months breastfed and currently breastfeeding my daughter just fine… if concerned talk to ur Docter

A blessing of breastfeeding is that it can keep periods at bay. Enjoy it. Lol

I didn’t get my period until a little after my boy turned 6 months old. Every woman is different but it is normal to not get your period for awhile after birth if you breastfeed.

With my first I didn’t get my period until after 2 years and I breastfed until she was 3y8m. With my second I got my period when he was 2 months :sob: it’s different for everyone but should always talk to your Dr if you’re concerned.

I 100 percent breast feed and got my period just 3 weeks postpartum. Take a test

My son is six months old and I still haven’t had a period. No chance of pregnancy here though, I had my tubes tied.

I successfully breast fed. My periods were in and off. Baby was 11 months old and what I thought was the same skipped period was another baby. I breast fed both and loved every moment till last baby was 3 and she self weaned. La Leche League is an incredible source of information and support

Most women who breastfeed won’t get their period until later.
If you are not being cautious though, take a test to be sure

No but you should still be using some sort of birth control just in case.

It’s normal but you can always test or call your OB if it’s really concerning.

If you have Sex you should get a pregnancy test. My sister had her 1st 2 children in 10 & half months apart. They call them the Irish twins.

My situation was exactly the same and mine didn’t come back until 8months Post Partum.

Typically breastfeeding will prolong the time to get the period. Take it as a win. Mine came back 4m pp. Some women will not have a period the entire time they BF. And it is entirely possible to BF while pregnant. If in doubt, take a test.

I’m breastfeeding my son and he is 15 months and I still haven’t gotten my period back. My first son was 9 months when it came back and I breastfed him until he was 3.

No, I know people that didn’t get theirs back who were nursing for 1+ year! It is normal :slightly_smiling_face: Everyone is different. If you are worried you might be pregnant again, you can snag a $1 test at a dollar store or Walmart to check to be sure :slightly_smiling_face:

You can get pregnant while breastfeeding. You failed to mention any birth control after having your baby so that could change it up too.

After my first. I had 2 a month for a little over a year. It sucked. I breastfeed her

My 3rd baby is a couple days off 9 months old and I haven’t had a period yet, totally normal! X

Ask your doctor. Everyone is different. Nursed one child 2 years and the other for 3.

No reason to be worried about, is normal not to have your period while are you brestfeeding, everyone is different …enjoy your journey!

I breastfed two kids n never got my periods for 1 year

I didn’t get mine back for 8 months but nursed til 14 months

Totally normal…mine didn’t return til my baby was 11 1/2 mo

It’s very common to not have a cycle when breastfeeding

When you breastfeed, you won’t have a period

As long as your nursing, you shouldn’t get your monthly cycle

Check with your doctor.
Some mothers are pregnant by their 6 week check up after giving birth.

I would get a pregnancy test just incase

Ask your dr not strangers on FB!

I’m not sure what the concern is.

At 6 months children begin nursing a lot which will increase your supply because they need more supplementing with formula will stop your own milk production from increasing your babies not going to be any less healthy because you’re breastfeeding also they are eating foods by now… People all over the world nurse children 2 to 3 4 5 years old for every bottle you give them you reduce your milk production… Congratulations on your commitment and dedication there is nothing better than breast milk.

I fed twins but still had periods

No intent here but how does one not know your body…breast feeding can stop while feeding but on the other hand which is playing Russian roulette, some think if your breast feeding and dont have a period it ok to have unprotected sex…nope so if you did go get a test…ever hear of Irish twins?

Its perfectly normal not to menstruate whilst breastfeeding.

Every ounce counts.com

Have you had unprotected sex

Questions for your doctor

U should be concerened

What’s the concern your post is a little confusing.

This is totally normal with breastfeeding. Sometimes it comes back quickly, sometimes not. However, just because you aren’t having a period doesn’t mean you can’t get pregnant, so if you haven’t been careful, take a test just in case.

Sometime you don’t have a period when you are breastfeeding. Totally normal

17mo and counting here and just recently got my period back

Nope Do not be concerned until you are fully done breast-feeding

My middle child I breast fed her for 18 months never had a period realized I was pregnant again when my breasts were tender. What I thought was a period was probably just implantation.

That’s normal. I got my period after I stopped breastfeeding with my 4 oldest which were around 1-1 1/2 years old and my 2 youngest I got it around 6 months postpartum.

It’s completely normal. Always use protection though if you’re afraid, as you never know when you’ll start ovulating again…it could be either while you’re still breastfeeding, or after you wean.

By supplemental feeding with formula you are increasing your risk of becoming pregnant again if you’re having unprotected sex.

I’d take a pregnancy test just in case.

Wait, just so we are clear, you actually WANT your period back? :astonished::astonished::astonished:

I’d breastfeed for 5 years if it meant not seeing my periods for 5 years :rofl::rofl::rofl:
