Put your house up for sale??!! Are you crazy? Let him take you to court for it. Kick his ass out. Or start the eviction process. If there is nothing in writing saying you agreed to pay him back you don’t owe him anything. A judge will see it as he was living there he is equally responsible for the bills and maintenance. It doesn’t matter whose house it is if he’s living there

If he lived there and you were in a relationship at the time of the incident and he did not mention paying him back at that time…it’ll either be considered a gift or general maintenance because you were a couple when it happened.
Any paperwork that was official that said you’ll pay him back should you guys split (again)? If not, too bad.

You don’t owe that man shit, make him walk. You definitely deserve better. Love yourself first, it’s no one elses responsibility to love you for who you are, when someone else does it’s a bonus.
