Tips on getting pregnant with PCOS?

Fertility specialist for me and it still took about 8 months of trying but the doctors were so helpful. And I had twins!

Use a fertility specialist! You can check ahead to see what insurance covers. They know your body best!

For me… I lost about 40 pounds, quit smoking cigs, cut back on drinking alcohol, exercised more… My period returned to normal and was pregnant in about 1 year.

I took metformin (prescribed)

Long story short, I saw a specialist who recommended an HSG (die in tubes to make sure tubes are not blocked) after no luck in conceiving with PCOS. After we saw that they were not blocked, I was put on metformin and femara and was pregnant 3 months later. Good luck!

I had to have fertility medication.

I had back to back babies after 8 yrs of ttc, using plexus.

I had trouble ovulating for ttc my 2nd. I ended up taking letrozole and got pregnant after the second round.

I swear by preseed! Used Femara and preseed and got pregnant with my first and the got pregnant with my second only using preseed! Everyone is different tho I felt like my gyno didn’t know anything about pcos so I had a much better experience with a fertiliry doctor

I started eating healthy organic food, taking multi- vitamins, Progesterone and Metformin after 6 years I was able to conceive

I have PCOS and had to go through 3 rounds of IVF to get pregnant. It’s best if she meets with a reproductive endocrinologist instead of her OB.

Going to a fertility specialist is her best bet - the doctor can give her a thorough exam and make a game plan for her. I have PCOS and ended up getting pregnant after being put on Metformin. We did 4 rounds of IUI (less invasive than IVF) and got pregnant on the 4th round. I feel I wasted 3 years trying to get pregnant with a shitty OB, once I went to a good fertility doctor, they really helped and personally, I feel the Metformin REALLY helped as well! A month after being put on Metformin, I got pregnant! Many women with PCOS take Metformin to help their PCOS/get pregnant.

Okay so I have really bad pcos did not ovulate at all was referred to see the infertility specialist. Who decided to try a different prescription because metformin and clomid did not work for me. He put me on letrozole/femara. The first month it didn’t work I didn’t ovulate we decided to try for another month and it worked not only did I ovulate but I also got pregnant we have a healthy 3 year old. Decided we wanted one more instead of going thru the infertility specialist my family dr prescribed that medication again it worked the very first month and I’m now 14 weeks pregnant. I swear by letrozole /femara. Nothing else worked for me. And it’s super cheap. Without insurance one round of that prescription was less then 20 dollars It’s was cheaper then ivf and all other treatments and works like a freaking charm

I was put on actos for blood sugar which regulated my periods and I was able to get pregnant without ivf or a fertility specialist. Might be worth asking about? Good luck! :crossed_fingers:

I did the Atkins diet, 6 mobths of Clomid, 6 months of ovulation induction and ended up with 2 sets of twins 4 yrs apart

I have PCOS and was on metformin but didn’t get pregnant until I was 34. Apparently as you get a little older your hormones level out and it’s easier to get pregnant.

I would definitely talk to a reproductive endocrinologist or infertility specialist. I have PCOS and had a hard time getting pregnant without their help and suggestions. Also, they may suggest having partners sperm checked. Sometimes its not just a PCOS issue, it’s both. Good luck!

I was diagnosed with PCOS at 14 and was told then because I only ovulated once or twice a year I would most likely need ivf… fast forward 5 years and I got pregnant naturally even with a blocked fallopian tube and a damaged ovary and I was lucky to fall pregnant again 10 years later and I’m now currently 33 and was also diagnosed with endometriosis last year and fibromyalgia… I’ve never consulted any fertility specialists as I was always in the mindset that it wouldn’t happen but I’ve been blessed twice. If your friend is anxious and worried she should 100% visit her gp for referrals but also bear in mind sometimes even with these issues pregnancy can happen… I wish her all the luck and I hope she finds something that works for her x

I was diagnosed with PCOS, I went 3 years without a period. I was told it would be slim to none to naturally get pregnant and I would likely need IVF or other treatments. I wasn’t aiming to get pregnant right away but was hoping to get a regular cycle going. The doctor recommended to go on birth control for that… I tried it and it made me miserable so stopped the pill… my pcos also had me pre-diabetic and I was about 50lbs over weight the doctor recommended aiming to lose the weight and seeing if that helps jump start a cycle… I lost about 40lbs and started ovulating again and after my 3rd consecutive period was able to get pregnant and wasn’t particularly trying  I’m now 5 months along with a healthy pregnancy.

Lose a few pounds. I got pregnant after 4-5 months of unprotected sex after I lost 20lbs

I gave up trying and a few months later I got pregnant…sometimes with the stress of trying it affects your chances. (According to my dr anyway)

Hey, I have PCOS and I’m now pregnant with my second. I thought I’d never have kids! I found that losing weight and eating healthy and having a healthy lifestyle was what helped and also it happened when I wasn’t trying or thinking/stressing about it.

Fingers crossed for you! X

Make sure u both take selenium and zinc in ur diet or tablet form worked for me on advice by fertility consultant

She should see a fertility specialist. They can give her medications to make her ovulate.

I went on birth control pills and metformin with cysts the size of grapefruits for a year and less than 6 months after we got pregnant with no heath issues

Keto. Once I lost all the weight and was eating healthy and exercising, I got pregnant. Also, a lot of the symptoms/problems I was having relating to my PCOS changed for the better with keto.

I was diagnosed at 15 with PCOS. I have taken actos and metformin. I have 2 healthy children

Myo-inositol and d-chiro inositol. Supplements, I order mine off Amazon

Get a dog and stop trying, lol worked for me. My little man was a complete surprise after 6 years of trying.

I was told when I was 17 that I couldn’t have kids. I had unprotected sex with my ex for over a year and nothing happened. I know it wasn’t him because he already has a daughter and his current gf is pregnant. After the relationship tho, I lost 30 pounds. First time I had sex with the new guy, I turned up pregnant. So you may just need to change environmental factors and lose a little weight.

I have PCOS and I have 4 kids. I took metformin and clomid for the first 2, metformin and femara for the third and my last one was an amazing surprise.

My good friend suffers from PCOS and as soon as she went on the pill called metformin and not too long after she was pregnant it’s maybe worth a try for you

Stop trying. Stop obsessing. After 7 years, divorce, and finding myself. I got my boy.

Eating super clean, work out, maca root, prenatals

Metformin, clomid, and Losing weight.

I’m curious how a diabetes medication helps with fertility. Does PCOS affect blood sugar as well?
