Were you told you were going to have a big baby?

I’m 34 weeks one day today I’m due Nov 2nd. I went for my ultrasound today, and dr said she’s 6lb 1oz. Dr believes she will weight about 8lb or so at birth. Any moms were told they would have a big baby, but they turned out not weighting as much? I have no problem with a big baby. I love her, no matter what. I’m just curious. My other 2 pregnancies, my boys weight between 6lb and 7lb

I was told with my oldest that they suspected he was about 10lbs he was 9lbs 2 oz. my second born they guessed at around 9lbs. He was 8lbs 9.2oz. So a little smaller than guessed :slightly_smiling_face:

They told me we were having a big baby and she came out at 6 6

My daughter was 6lbs 7.9oz and they were so close with her. My first son was expected to be close to 8lbs and ended up being 8lbs 3.3oz. My last son they expected to be close to 7lbs (just before my 37 week induction) and he ended up being 5lbs 3.9oz. They definitely miss measured him lol

My son was predicted to be over 9lbs around my 32 dr appt and my last appt at 39weeks the Dr said he should be normal… we had even prepared for a c section just incase I couldn’t push him out, he came out 7lbs and 7oz

My youngest was 9.7 lbs, had I gone the 15 extra days he probably would’ve been 11 lbs. His father is 6’4 and his family has a history of big babies. My brother and I were also big, but my first 2 were avg/small so I didn’t expect my chunky boy lol

They told me mine was measuring 6lbs at 34 weeks. He was 9lbs 7oz

I was told for my 2nd pregnancy to expect at least a 10lb baby… He was born weighing 4lb 3oz

I was told my daughter was between 7-8 bounds at 32 weeks and that she would be about 8-9 at birth and she was only 7lb 6oz so don’t frighten yourself

I was told the morning i was induced at 37 weeks my daughter was 8lbs 4oz she was born 6lbs 1oz

Was told big was 6.1

I had an ultrasound at 34 weeks and he was estimated to be 6lbs 8oz and they thought he was going to be huge, like 9-10 pounder. They induced me at 40 weeks and he was only 7lbs 4oz.

The ultrasound tech at the hospital: Oh, he’s gonna be big, looks probably over 10 lbs.

Me: :scream:

Doctor: No, he isn’t going to be that big.

Nurses: No, hunny he isn’t going to be that big.

Emergency c- section because he wouldn’t drop.

Doctor as he hands over my 9.13lb baby: :fearful:

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Yeah i was told with my first one he’d be 9 pounds, they where almost accurate. My second they told me she was going to be big too. And she came put 7pounds 8 oz. So sometimes they are accurate sometimes they are way off lol. Guess you’ll have to wait and see. Good luck!

I’m 34+3 and due Nov 1st and my little lady weighed 5.6lbs at my 34 week scan but no mention of a big baby :rose:

My 1st was 9 lbs and I was 1 week over due. My 2nd 9 lbs 8 oz. Only 2 days over due.

I was told I was going to have a big baby and they estimated 8 lb 8 oz. She was born 9lbs 15oz :upside_down_face:

Yes was told my son was 8 lbs at 36 weeks thinking he will be 10 lbs and came out 7lbs 5 oz 22 inches. But sometimes the machines are off.

Yep. I was told that with my daughter and they were right…she was 10lbs! Lol.

My ultrasound tech and my midwife estimated my baby to be around 6 pounds at birth. He ended up being 8 pounds 13 ounces. Late term ultrasounds are not always reliable for estimating baby’s size.

I was told my daughter would be well over 9lbs and well over 22 inches… she was 6lbs 5oz and 18 inches.

My lg was estimated 6lb 2oz at 36 weeks she was born at 41 weeks weighing 8lb 7oz xx

I was told my babies were going to be tiny and underweight. They came perfectly normal. My oldest was almost 10 pounds. Nobody knows until the baby is born

I had my Son today told I was going to have a 10lb but he ended up being 7lb 10oz

I had ultrasound 3 days prior to having my oldest they said he’d be 8 pounds 5 ounces and he was born 6 pounds 1 ounce

My first they said she would be 9-10lb at 37 weeks, she was born 7lb 5oz at 38 weeks…
Second they said would be about the same and she was born 7lb 3oz lol

My oldest I was told he was going to be big he was 9lbs10 oz my second was a week early and she was 7lbs 12oz.

I was told my second child would be bigger than my first, who weighed 9lb 12oz. My second weighed 8lb 2oz.

My youngest was 4 weeks early and she weighed 8lbs 9oz. Had i went full term she probably would have been 10lbs

My dr was sure that my son would be close to, if not over, 10lbs.
He was 8lbs7oz. So 🤷 dr was wrong.

8lbs is pretty normal not big

i was induced early because my baby was sizing up bigger

I was told my son was going to be over 9 lbs. He was 6lbs 8oz

I never trust what the ultrasounds say or MD’s opinions. My babies ranged from 7-10 lbs. I could tell that my one son was going to be big as I was extremely uncomfortable by the time I gave birth and there was no more room for him. My doctor just said “oh wow, I didn’t think he’d be that big.” I was annoyed because I could physically tell he was big.

I have the opposite experience, was told average 7.5lb baby and had a 9lb-er. She was my easiest of all four births though as gravity is your friend when delivering a chunk x

I was told with my last one, if I carried to term she would be at least 10 pounds. I was induced at 37 weeks and she was 8 # 14 ounces.

The other way around… They told me I was having a small baby with my first pregnancy and he was 9.8 lbs :woman_shrugging:t2: I guess he was hiding lol :joy:

My son was 7lb 14
My girls were 8lb 11 and 8lb 13 I was told I was measuring big xx

I was told my son was gonna be 10 lbs! And he was 7lbs 13 oz

I was told my baby was going to be 10 pounds and she ended up being 7lbs 7oz.

Yep and my babies were only 6.3, 6.8 & 6.5

I was told with my first that he was reading 9-10lbs. He came put at 7 lbs 13 oz

My first daughter was 7lbs, I was told my second would be 9-10 lbs she was 9lbs 3oz.

I had a growth scan at 36 weeks and she was averaving 6lb3oz. They say babies gain approx half a pound each week in the last month of pregnancy which worked out to be true as my baby girl was 8lb3oz. But ultrasounds can be out too and is just a estimate.

My baby always measured ahead. When asked if she would be a big baby, I was told that instead of 6 lbs she may be 7 lbs. She came out at 9 lbs 6 oz and 22 1/4 in long. Baby # 2 is due in Feb. I’m curious if I will have another big baby lol

They told me mine would be under 4lbs she was 9 lbs 14 oz . You just never know

Yah they told me my baby was huge. As the baby was coming out she’s like “wow, it’s a huge baby”. She was 5lbs 15oz. They gave her to me and I said “well where’s the rest of her? Didn’t you just say it was huge?”

I was told both my daughters would be big and my son that is due in 16 days will supposedly be small
My daughters were 8 lbs 11.3 oz and 9 lbs 2.8 oz

I was told I would have over a 9 lb baby, she was 7 lb 2 oz.

Was told my daughter would be 5 pounds ish and she’s was 9 pounds 12 ounces … my son was supposed to be over 10 pounds and he was 6.12 … its not always accurate

m first one was 10 and 1/4 lbs with my second one they decided to induce at 38 weeks as they said she was huge she ended up 7lbs 11 oz

They said my son was almost 9, he came out 7.11. He was long and they were full of it :woman_shrugging:t2:

My son was 8lbs 8oz. And I’m a slimmer girl I thought the 7-8lb was an average? :woman_shrugging:t2:

8 lbs is average. Not large by any means.

My daughter was supposed to be well over 8lbs and came out 7.4

I was told that my son would be a big baby. He was 11lbs 10oz

My doc was accurate, she said she guesses 7lb and she was 7lb 2oz lol

Nope they thought my first would be in the 7 lb range but he was 9lb 6 ounces. The ultrasounds are not accurate

Lol :joy: they told me he was going to be big he was 10lb5oz and 23 inches

I was told my son would be 9lbs 5oz before birth and he was 8lbs 3oz. I was told my entire pregnancy he’d be big.

I was told I would have an average size baby. 7 1/2 lbs. My son was 8lbs 1oz.

I got told she would be luckily to be 5lb and she was 10lb 5:joy::joy::joy:

I was told my son was going to be about 8lbs-9lbs at birth(I was 37 weeks when I was told this) he was only 7lbs 1 oz. An he was born a week after I was told that.

My kids were estimated about 9-10lbs but both came out 8 lbs 1 oz and the other was 8lbs 9oz both at 39 weeks

my first they said was over 9 pounds the day i was induced and she was 6-13 … my second they said was over 9 and he was 8 even… my third was the closest they said 7-11 and she was 7-4 … my 8 pound was my easiest labor and delivery

At 33 weeks my son was over 6lbs and measuring 2 weeks ahead. I delivered him at 39+3 at 9lbs 7 oz and 21 inches

8lbs isn’t a big baby. Not at all.

My ob told me my 2nd child was gonna be a big baby. She came out 7lbs, 1oz & 19in long. Ultrasounds can be off

8lbs is not big it’s average it’ll be no different than your other ones

I was usually told the same, but never carried past 37-38 weeks, so most of mine were closer to 7lbs.

I was told that my 3rd he would be 8 lbs… he was 9😊 my first 2 were 7 lbs!
You will do great mama!

Yes! I was told I may need to have a C-section because he was probably going to be a 9+ pounder, and I’m pretty small. At my 36 week check they guesstimated he was around 8.5 lbs. I remember the tech clearly telling me “These measurements can be off +/- 2lbs…”. Well, at 39 wks I gave birth vaginally to a teeny little 6 lb, 10 oz boy! Even my OB was surprised!!

I was told he’d be aprox 9.25 lbs, ( this was at the final ultrasound at 9 days over), he arrived at 8lbs even!

Doc told me my baby was going to be over 9 pounds and induced me on my due date. He was 7lbs 9oz. :woman_facepalming:

I wish someone did. No one said anything until I was actually in labor lol. I’ve never been good at math, I should have realized that at 6lbs 7oz at my 36 wk ultrasound, plus gaining about an ounce a day, plus 4 days overdue would equal a 9lb baby lol. I guess I was just excited to have a baby bigger than my 5lb 10oz 1st child. Anyway, my water breaks I get to the hospital. The on call dr takes one look at me and asks me if I know how big he is. I shrugged my shoulders and inform her of the weight from my last u/s. Then I hear her reporting to a nurse outside the door that she thinks my baby is 9 or 10lbs and I will prob need a c-section! My first was a c-section due to being breeched, and I switched doctors and hospitals to have a vbac! Lol so now I’m like do not let this wackadoo back in my room, I’m very distraught, thankfully we got a new dr in the am and he said he would let me “try” vaginally. I’m like oh we’re not trying this is what I came here to do! 30 min of pushing later and I popped out my 9lb monster baby and his big ol’ head (I’m pretty sure most of the weight was his head :joy:). The point is, it all worked out just wish I was more prepared :rofl::rofl:

My first was over 9lbs :joy: so 8 doesn’t seem huge. I’ve also had 3 8lb3oz babies and just had an 8lb9oz babies. It’s totally doable!

Every kid was bigger than the one before except for the last one because she was a couple weeks early. Hugs. You can do this

My son was born on November 2nd he will be 5 he was 6lbs 1.4oz if he didn’t come early he would have probably been over 7lbs

My first baby was a little over 8 lb. When lbs. Was about to have my second they told me she was going to be well over 8lb and she was only 6lb 12oz. Their determination was done by ultrasound as she was breech and I was scheduled for an external version. They are not always accurate. My other 2 were only 7lb. Only my first was that big.

I was told my daughter would be a big baby and she was 6lbs 13oz. My son was 4lbs 7oz

I was told my third baby was going to be huge and she was she weighed 9 lbs 10 oz 23 and a half inches long

Ok so my daughter was 10 lbs 5 oz a week early via c section and at 34 weeks she was 6 lbs 3 oz. hard to say because they had no clue my son before her would be 10lbs 12 oz. shit hurt to deliver so they let me have a c section with her and my last

I was never told the wieght of any of my babies

My first child was 6 pound 9 2nd was 7 pounds excatly and my third was 8 pound 1 xxx

I was told my baby would be over 9lbs by his due date last year. He was just shy of 8lbs 3 days early.

8lb isn’t big. It’s average :ok_hand:

But besides that I was told average and both of mine came out 4+kgs

Ultrasound showed my oldest was going to be 5 pounds. She was over 8. I’ve always carried big babies but never really showed. It’s all just a “guess”

Was told i would have a 7 lb baby. She came out 8.5. which is normal range.

8lb babies are not huge lol I have 8lbs 3oz and 8lbs 11oz baby girls and they were fine of anything the bigger one was easier than the first

Yes I was told my daughter was 8lbs 9oz 2 days before she was born and she weighed 7lbs 14oz. The estimates are never accurate.

I was told at 38 weeks my daughter would be 8lbs 2 oz. when she was born 2 days later. She was 8lbs 12oz. I only had one stitch. Just let your body labor naturally!

My baby boy was 3 weeks early and weighed 9.5lbs. Doc said he’d been 12 if he’d been full term.

I personally don’t think 8lbs is big.
But I heard babies get bigger depending on what the womb/canal can handle.

My 1st was 9lbs
My 2nd was 10.1
(Realized I have a medical issue, so with exercise/diet)
My 3rd was 7.11

So I guess if you’re worried about babies weight I suggest healthy diet, including the extra cal for the baby of course and exercise as often as you can/handle, Safety first tho !

Personally doctor told me cardio cardio cardio.
I walked like crazy and did stair master at the gym and light weights.
And I gotta say labor was super smooth and quick and I lost all the weight I gained on my third the fastest and healed the fastest
(Compared to my other 2)

I wasn’t told anything with my first 2. My first was 9lbs 6oz and my 2nd was 7lbs 13.5oz. I was considered high risk with my 3rd so I got a lot of ultrasounds. The last one said he was about 9lbs. He was born at 9lbs 12oz
I’m currently 36 weeks pregnant. 2 weeks ago she was weighing 7lbs and should’ve been roughly 5lbs. She will more than likely be a big baby as well.

I was told I was going to have a big baby which I found to be a shock because my first one was only 7lb 4 oz
But my first baby was with my ex.
My husband had a daughter from a previous relationship and that daughter was 9lb 12oz
My baby did end up being 9lbs even! She was a bit too big for me to push out so I had to have an emergency c-section but she got here all the same. Whatever ends up happening don’t be hard on yourself. I thought it was all my fault my baby was big even though I was eating healthy and being cautious. Some babies are just a bit bigger then others and that is just the way it is. The only worry is that when the baby is big it can cause shoulder distocia (sp?)
Which is what we were preventing at the end of my labour with the emergency c-section (I was already 10cm dilated and pushing for a few hours but there was no way she was going to come out of there safely)

Just trust that you are in good hands. A bigger baby is definitely not the end of the world and once they are in your arms you won’t even care what most of the Dr’s said leading up to birth :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Here is my “big” 9lb little love when she was born :purple_heart:

My dr said same thing… My daughter was 7lb 11oz so she wasn’t too far off the mark. :woman_shrugging:

I was told I was having about an 8lb child. She ending up being almost 11lbs.

My dr told me they gain about 1/2 pound a week. I’m 35 weeks tomorrow and delivering next Thursday at 36 weeks and he was 5 lbs last week at 34 weeks. So guessing he will be 6 pounds!
