What age did you buy your daughter their first baby doll?

Hey girl mamas, I was Christmas shopping, and I was curious at what age is it appropriate to buy her a first baby doll? I know it will vary because every child is different but just an idea. She will be one year old — also, recommendations for a first baby doll.

We got ours one last year, she was 2.

We love the baby alive dolls

I got my daughter her first at 1. She is now 15 months. It’s her favourite. Plays with it all the time.
Push the tummy and it’s coos and says mama. Lol

Cabbage patch has soft body baby dolls that are smaller. Just gave my cousin one for her 1st birthday and she wouldn’t put her down. All you can do is get one and see if she takes to it, if she doesn’t right away I’m sure she will soon. My daughter is 9 and still plays with them, just in a more “mommy” type way now.

Any age. There are doll babies for every age kid now

Any age, maybe since she’s one dont spend too much money on the doll

My son is 8 months, and he has a baby doll. He likes the softer ones that are easier to hold onto, but at 1, any baby doll would work!

Got one for Christmas last year at 10 months. Didn’t really start playing with it til 19 months. But I’m also pregnant and talking lots about babies too her

I got mine the baby stroller and a doll. She likes the stroller more. So does the cat. She doesn’t like when the cat gets in it, since he’s too fat for her to push

My daughter has had dolls since she was born she has about 5. And she is 6

I got my daughter her first baby doll when she was about 18 months.

No daughter, but if you think she’ll like one go ahead and get one. They have ones that are made to be safe for that age!

My parents got her a baby doll when she was maybe 9 months old. She loved it. She still has it and plays with it. She is now 3 years old

My daughter has loved baby dolls since she was 9m old. She had around four baby dolls and loves to hug on them.

My daughter had like 5 by the time she was 1.

My daughter has one and she is 14 months got it on her first birthday and she feeds it and everything she loves her baby doll

9 mos her first Christmas bitty baby American Girl doll

My MIL bought my daughter an American Girl Bitty Baby for her 2nd Christmas and she was only 1.5

I bought one of those my first baby dolls when my daughter was 6 months old. They ste stuffed but a hard plastic one was when she was like 1 ish. Then my second daughter always played with dolls because of her sister.

A year old, and she loved it. The “My Sweet Love” dolls from Walmart.

My son and daughter both got them about 9 months old

My daughters had them from birth. They make the stuffed dolls. About 6 mos I started getting them the regular dolls. My oldest stopped playing with them around 7 but my youngest who is now 7 still loves them and has four different ones picked out on her Christmas list

When my daughter was 1 we bought her a soft doll. It had no plastic. Perfect for her until she was about 3 or 4

my son was 2 when he got his. He loves his baby lol… it was his “practise baby brother” when I was pregnant to try and teach him to be gentle

My son has a simple doll (stuffed body, plastic head and appendages) that we got him when he was 12-13mo. We’re thinking of getting him a stroller since he likes to push his own around.

Well not daughter but we bought my son one when we were walking through the toy ailes and he found some and picked up out. He picked out 3 but frankly we went with the cheapest one lol the most expensive was almost as big as him lol I’d say he was probably close to 2? Maybe?

Our daughter always had them to play with, but around her 1st birthday we bought a nice one with fake bottles and stroller the whole thing. She really loved it and ran with it, that baby came everywhere with us.

I got mine her first doll at 4 months

I bought my daughter her first baby at 8 months old. They have dolls for little ones.

My daughter had her first baby doll around the age 1. It’s the plush kind.

Probably earlier than 1. She is 2 and has several now.

My first got a soft body soft faced baby doll at 8 months for her first Christmas. My second will be the same age so she will get her first for Christmas this year. This was my first borns first baby doll (13 years ago) but it’s harder to find now so I’ll find something similar for the baby.

Mine got a baby doll for her first birthday, but didn’t really start caring about it until recently (almost 2).

As soon as they are born

I bought mine one on her first Christmas she was 5 mos

First baby doll at the baby shower, I said my first doll

I think any age is fine! My daughter has been playing with them a lot since 2

I’m still pregnant with my daughter and tried to buy one for her yesterday but my husband said no she’s not here yet…she will be in a few weeks and she will have a baby doll. My son is 3 almost 4 and will play with the little kitchen and stuff at Walmart but he does not want a baby doll, lol. If he changes his mind, I will have no problem getting him one.

My son got his first baby doll when was a year. He has a car seat for it and brings it everywhere.

Before they were born lol. Soft body rag doll types make great first dolls at that age.

My daughters 1 and she has had one since she was 7 months

My daughter is having her first for chritmas aline with a ‘my 1st wooden pram’ and she will be 15 months ddd

Any age. They even have baby doll’s labeled as their first doll, they are soft and all the details are sewn on

Will she throw it? If so, make sure it’s soft! Introduce them at any age.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Before one as Kong as there no small parts they can choke on a y age is appropriate

My son has had a baby doll since 6 months. If that’s what your daughter seems to be interested in, get it.

My 1st daughter was 1 month her 1st Christmas. When I had her sister she was 18 months old and I gave her a new baby when I had #2 daughter. When I nursed and rocked the baby my daughter nursed and rocked her baby.

My granddaughter got her first at her first Christmas and she was 7 months old, there are she appropriate baby dolls for all ages so really it’s when ever you want to get her one

Both my daughter and son when they were 1. I made sure there was nothing chokeable. Each doll came with a pacifier that I set aside for when the kids are older.

My girl got hers at 1yr old I did small cheap one at Wal-Mart nothing she can choke on. Her and 2yr old brother fight to play with it.

I dont think there is a certain time. If they are interested, go for it. Even if they aren’t at that age she will most likely play with whatever you get her

My oldest was about 2 but her little sister has loved baby dolls since around 1

I wish they made baby dolls for boys so they can be happy about being dads just like how girls are at being moms.

I know the post is about girls but it’s still a thought

My son has been playing with babies since he could walk to grab them!

I bought both my girls baby dolls when they were born, plastic and plush.

My daughter has been carrying cabbage patch cuties since before she was 1. They are perfect size and all different kinds.

Any age. If she’s that young get her a soft one

My son got his first baby doll at 16 months old. Hes now 3 and still plays with them. They are great for building preten play skills even at a early age.

I bought my grand daughter her first on her first Christmas, she wasn’t 1 month yet. But it was there when she was able to start playing with toys, rather she chewed on it or whatever she did with it. I bought cheap. Now she’s 2 and she plays with her mommas babies from when she was little.

I months in her crib when she was born

The little boy I watch is 20 months and loves babies. His parents are getting him his very own baby for Christmas. :baby:t2::blue_heart:

As soon as they are old enough to hold something. Watch for objects that can come loose

My then 2 year old wanted a baby doll when I was pregnant with his brother, he walked it, cuddled, loved it, fed it, he’s now 3 and wants another one this Christmas x

Why would it ever be inappropriate?

My little girl had baby dolls before she was ever born

My daughter is 8m and has a infant cabbage patch she loves

My sil got my daughter her first doll on her 1st Christmas and she was a few months old it was a very soft doll and as she got older she got regular dolls

My son is getting his first one this Christmas. He turned 1 in September. He’s so proud every time someone lets him hold a baby.

My daughter had a plush one at 4 months old

All my kids were 4-5 months old when they received their first dolls.

First Christmas or first Birthday or the first time I felt like it. My kids are foster so if they came to me at any age and didn’t have one they got one. Stepchildren I had them and we saw a really cute one they got it. Adopted they got one. Remember Bady dolls that are very cute aren’t always in the store but seasonal times so if you see the one buy is if your heart tells you it time gift it to them. My second to youngest had a lot of feet surgeries and she had many bady dolls, but her favorite always went to surgery and the doctor and nurses put casts IVs and stuff on the doll to.

My daughter has had baby dolls waiting for her before she was even born :woman_shrugging: she just started actually playing with them now at 6 months old. I just bought her a Baby Stella doll off Amazon for Christmas and I’ll definitely be buying more of that brand!

Is that a question? Lol

I got my son his firs baby doll (soft body one) at 6 months and he still loves it to this day he’s 14 months now

My sons first bday gift was a doll. It’s his “baby” and he loves it. Just make sure to get one that is age appropriate as in no small choking hazard parts. A plush or solid doll will be fine! They love to mimic and take care of dolls at 1+

She was born in Nov and her first was Dec it was about 6 inches long and all rubber. At first when she could hold it she used it to cut teeth on by the time she was 1 it was all she wanted.

I got my oldest son a baby doll when he was 3 and I was pregnant with his brother. It helped him get used to the idea and learn how to be easy and nice lol he loved it and carried it everywhere and slept with it

Sure! Get her a smaller one that She can carry around and a doll bed! I have 3 girls who are grown now and they loved their dolls.

My daughter had dolls before she was born HOWEVER There were precautions…Nothing with eyes that open and closed or could be removed. Her first doll was a soft sweet rag doll (whose eyes like her cute smile were printed on the fabric.) She loved that doll and still has it here 35 years later.

Both of mine had one before born however they was a yr old when they got it to play with

2 my first got one on her second birthday and I think my in-laws are getting my youngest one for her second on Thursday
