I have boys, but I got my period in Grade. 4

It happens … Let it happen shes just progressing more

She will be okay most girls start at a young age , I got mine at 8

I got mine at that age too and I grew perfectly fine in height. I wouldn’t stop it, that could harm her. And I would get a second opinion as well. Doctors can be wrong or misinformed.

The body does what it does when it needs to do it.

I was 10, I thought that was young… I’ve been 5’1" since, haha

Yes my sister was 9 years old

I started at 14 and didn’t stop growing until 20

I got mine when I was 9 and I’m 32 not too early I stopped growing at 19

I was 10 when I started :woman_shrugging:t2:and I’m only 4’11 but had stopped growing before I got it. All the hormones added to foods nowadays cause it to come earlier and earlier

My niece got it at 10.

My sister got hers at 7 so she’s not too young, my sister got to about 5’2. I got my period at 11 but I have a condition that stunted my growth in 5th grade so I only am 4’9 (barely). But I’m just fine and so is my sister

If you Google it (ik Google doesn’t always have correct answers, but I don’t have medical schooling to go off of with this subject) it says that girls typically stop growing two years after their first period. It also says that girls typically stop growing at 14-15 years of age. So what I’m concluding to that is that girls TYPICALLY get their periods at 12-13 years of age and stop growing in height at 14-15 and they don’t necessarily coincide. Meaning if you get your period early it doesn’t mean you’ll stop growing two years exactly after that.
I personally wouldn’t do anything to stop puberty in my child based solely on how her height would be. If she’s always been short for her age (all my boys are) then she’s just going to end up short.
I got my period around 11, pretty close to 12 years old (6th grade) and when I came back to school in 7th grade all my classmates were taller than me.
I’m 5’2" and hit that in 7th grade. 🤷
Ultimately, do what you think is best momma.

I was 9 when i got mine don’t stop it…

I got mine when I was 16 so this surprised me but I hope my daughter doesn’t start hers too late.

I got my period at 10

I didn’t get mine till I was 14…

I was 8 and I’m only 4 ft 11 but I come from a short family. My mom is only 4 ft 9.

I was 9 when I got mine, so I’ve already had that conversation with my 8 (almost 9 year old). I’m 5’4"… I was not that tall when I was 9.

I got mine at 12, my daughter was almost 14.

This may sound crazy but you can X ray her hand which will tell her bone age growth. So if you are seriously worried, talk to your doctor who can order the X-ray to determine her bone age growth to tell if she is still growing which I am sure she is and probably predict her height.

My daughter was 9 almost 10 and she’s done growing at 5’3. I’m 5’8 and my sister is 5’7 and we both started around 15. It was hard on me when my daughter started so young

I started mine when I was 9

Our doctor said it was from all the added hormones in the food

I was 11. I think 8 is the low end of normal.

Not my child but I started my first period when I turned 9 lol and I’m 5’5, I actually grew 3 more inches after I turned 19🤣 I was totally fine, it’s okay to be short or tall, a girl I know didn’t get her period til she was 16 and is 4’4 so there ya go.

She’s not too young don’t get it stopped just let her body do what it’s doing lol so what if she’s short I’m 16 and only 5 foot

Wow! That is really young. My daughter is 11 going on 12 and hasn’t gotten her period yet. Guess its different for everyone.

I got mine before I was out of elementary school… my daughter is turning 7 next month and I’m worried she’ll start young to

Both my daughter and I started at about 9. She is 18 now and quit growing when she was 15. She’s 5’, I’m 4’11" I was 5’1" but I had to have both knees replaced and there was so much damage they had to shave some of the bone down and my husband was 5’8".

Hormones in the meat she’s consuming

I started mine at 9 its just life

I started mine in grade 4 or 5. Don’t remember my age but I think stopping a period sounds more dangerous than just letting her body do it’s thing? :flushed:

My daughter was 9 she did fine

I was 9 when I started. I am 5’9 now, I wouldn’t be too worried. Make it as comfortable as possible for her

My granddaughter started at 9. They said the only thing they would do is give her a depo shot. Didn’t wanna do that so now 2 years later she is fine. She grew in height and lost weight

Don’t stop her period wtf you’ll screw with her hormones and growth badly. It’s not common but it’s normal to get a period that early. My aunt got hers at 9, I got mine at 10.

I started my period when I was 8. Never had any problems, I’ve always been very regular. Every woman is different.

I’m only 5’2” but I was also premature, and have also been petite my whole life, so I don’t think my period had much to do with it

What does height have to do with you starting your period? I see lots of comments about it.

I, myself did! I was nine and though I’m short, no real problems!

I was 9 when I started

I started mine at 5 years old.

She’s also too young for you to be stopping her body from trying to do its thing. I got mine when I was 9. Just watch her over the years for early signs of pmdd, or very rough periods. Made life hard for me and I’m in my 30s now finally doing something about it. And people are all different sizes, those are just myths.

I was 8. However, I was really tall and developed for my age already. I have PCOS as well. Precocious puberty can be an early sign of PCOS

Wow that is young . I Personally didnt get mine till i was 18 years old. Did the dr say how they stop it ?

I had mine when I was 9 I’m 5 ft 3 and my sisters had theirs around 8 or 9 and there all taller than me, if you stop her period you are going to fuck up her hormones and possibly ruin the chances of her getting pregnant later in life or even cause her uterine issues as she gets older

I got mine when i was 11 i still grew taller. I don’t think it has anything to do with height because i learned that women grow tall until they are 18 or 19 and it’s true for me

I’ve definitely heard of this happening but it really isn’t common. I would triple check with an endocrinologist to be sure.

I was 9 when I started mine and I’m 5’7"

Yes my granddaughter. They put something in her arm to stop her period. She is 12 now they took it out. She is fine.

My sister got hers at 8 and sos did my sister in law

Wait what!!! Oh no! I’m NOT ready for this!!! Leslie Lantz WHY IS THIS SHOWING ON MY TIMELINE!!! HELP ME BABY JESUS!!!

It’s pretty common for girls to start at that age. Some even start late. Growing up, I have heard that hormones in food can cause early puberty. She will be fine. I have a friend who got her first period at age 3! Hormones have a mind of their own! She will probably be insecure about it, so please just make sure she has some support. And be careful not to make it seem like it’s wrong, because it’s not! It’s totally normal. My daughter has pubic hair, and I first noticed it when she was 8 months! She saw an endocrinologist and her blood work is normal. Sometimes it happens. And the Dr isn’t worried as long as she doesn’t develop more hair growth or something. I was worried because her growth is slow,l. But my daughter is perfectly normal. Now we are going to see a geneticists, because all 3 have my kids have slow growth and I was smaller than my peers up until at least elementary. Good luck! She will be just fine!

My two girls were 9 and 8 and they had their period every month one is 5’7 and 5’6

I got mine when I was 9 and I’m 5’11"…its got nothing to do with height

I got mine at 11 and grew for years so uh … Idk if i believe only 2 more yrs to grow …

I was 10 when I got mine.

They can stop it by giving her hormone shots. My friends’ daughter was about that age, she kept getting the shots until she hit puberty age around 12-13 years old.
I would talk to her pediatrician and definitely weigh out your pros and cons on whether or not you should do the shots.

My friend got it in the first grade.

My daughter got hers at age 11. She had to be put on birth control pills because her cycle was too heavy and would cause her iron levels to drop. She is now 17 and is doing well

I was 10. I had friends start as early as 8-9. It’s not abnormal. I’d talk to her doctor, or a gynecologist instead, and not a bunch of strangers on the internet :slightly_smiling_face:

I wouldn’t have them stop it. Being short isnt the worst thing ever. Dont make her feel like she caught a disease. Its a little early but having a period is normal and healthy. My doctor said that girls are starting to have periods early due to the small amouts of growth hormones in many common foods.

I started at 11. It depends on how there body is. That’s normal for some people.

My daughter was 11, but because of her height and weight the doctor started telling me at her 8 year well child she thought it would start soon. She’s 13 now and finally regulated.

My daughter is 13, 14 in November. She still hasn’t started. I’m starting to worry.

I wouldn’t stop it…her body knows what it is doing!

Not at eight but my oldest granddaughter did at ten

I had a friend that started at that age and she was perfectly fine. People are different. I have never heard that you stop growing 2 yrs after, that was just bizarre to me. Women generally grow until around 18 while men is 21 or something along the lines of that.

She very well could have CPP ? Central precocious puberty. My child started at age 7… when did she get hair in her private parts? What about breast development? Is she black or Hispanic? What age did u as the mother start? How much progress food does she eat? How tall is she compared to others her age? Is she growing faster then normal? How is her legs? Are the streight? Does her hips knees &Ankles line up.? There is so many different equations to what could be going on? My child stared early and was given CPP & had to see an endocarditis? She also had 14 surgeries on her legs. ( Because she was growing to fast )& had hormone inplants to stop the periods too… Call ur peds Dr. Talk to them about it… Write stuff down. Make notes. But girls now days do start early. Because of the processed food we eat…With all the growth hormones in them . Start at ur Dr…

I had to take my daughter to a pediatric gynecologist once and he told me that it’s very common nowadays for girls to start at such a young age. It’s from all the steroids and hormones added into foods these days. I will only buy meats that are free of all additives.
