What age do you think it's appropriate for girls to get their nails done?

Omgoodness to let her get it done one time which it will only last about 2 weeks right… if its something you know she would really love and it will make her happy for her birthday one time I think its acceptable.

I let my 15 year old get acrylic for the first time for homecoming. I have in the past taken all 3 of my girls for a mani pedi as a special treat and time with mom. First time, they were probably 5,6,7.

My opinion is that 8 is way to young for acrylics however my 7 almost 8 year old joins me at the salon for mommy daughter mani pedis at least a few times a year since she was probably 4.

You do what you feel right as her mother. Where I’m from mothers take their young girls 7/8 and have their nails done if they ask. I don’t see an issue with it :woman_shrugging:t2:

My daughter comes with me when I get my nails done but she only has them painted. She loves looking at all the different colours and takes forever choosing a colour :joy: but loves sitting at the table and getting the painted by the professional lol

How about just the gel? I think the acrylics are a little to harmful to nails at such a young age.

She’s a girl. She’s old enough to get her nails done. Whatever makes her feel beautiful. A simple paint should be fine.

Just do the gel polish my daughter takes her little girl with her every other week and she gets a new color she loves it

Acrylics does cause damage to your nails so her little nails wont do well with it. Stick with the press ons

I know hink any age above 15 is too young not to mention mani-pedi’s ain’t cheap. Kids be tryna act older than their age already. Let the be little girls. Do the pretend thing with the little girl sets they gave in stores. I’m just saying. My nieces and I enjoy setting up shop on the he tv dinner tray or at the dinning room table and doing each other’s nails. And it’s a lot cheaper too.

I know someone who just let their 16 year old get tattoos, so getting her nails done is nothing!

I wouldn’t do it simply due to the damage it can do to our own nails

I would say most is Shalack way to young to get acrylics done it could damage her real nail to badly

I would just polish and manicure at home. Too young for that roughness on her nails.

Way too young for acrylic nails!!! They will ruin her actual nails for good I would not suggest her ever getting acrylic nails but if she does wait until she is an adult!!!

Just take her to get them painted. Have been growing out gel nails for 4 months. The damage when they come off!!!

I think at that age get the manicure snd let her pick what color or colors… but once you start the fake nails it will always be wanted and asked for. And at times expected.

Polish would be good. Acrylic nails will teach her that she is entitles to them without working for them

I don’t know if I’d let her get acrylics but a mani and pedi is nice. My daughters are 11 and 13 and my 11 yr started getting mani and pedis when she was 9. We don’t do it very often once a year but she loves being pampered

I don’t have a daughter but I think just getting her nails painted would be good but no fake nails yet.

Been taking my little girl to get pedicures since she was like 5. Nothing wrong with it in my eyes. Just getting pampered

depends if ya, want them to have any nails, when there older.

8 is fine for polish on nails.

I would do gel manicure for now and not start acrylics until she’s 16 and up

15 these kids are not grown!! Allow them to be and stay children!!

Fake nails? When she can pay for them herself.

at least 12 , 8is too younf

I was painting my daughters toe nails at about 20 months because she showed interest. :nail_care: I wouldn’t pay for a salon but I don’t waist my money doing that.

You could do the dip but on her natural nail instead of the fake!

Most nail salons wont put acrylic nails on that young.

When she is old enough to maintain them herself

Let her get the gel nail polish if her actual nails are a little longer then that will be cute

Manila and pedi with gel polish…

4 and up for painting for a set 13

I would say 10-12 years old. She could always go to salon & get gel over her real nails. I have a 2 year old & 15 year old & both my girls come with me to salon. They both started getting their toes painted at age 1 at the salon

If it’s something she wants, let her have it for a holiday like her bday, Easter, etc. But be up front with her about what 2 expect. If she takes care of them well and wants them again, u can have her save her allowance and buy the kit at Wal-Mart and u can do them for her.

At that age I only let my girls get a manicure. I let them get the nails at about 14-15

How about just getting them professionally painted if you feel she is so young for fake nails? She could get pretty designs and have way more color options. I still think she would enjoy it.

Mani and paint, she’ll be happy.

Dont dont do it…nails die:((

Got the money… you be you.

Do it. Don’t get her anything other than a basic mani/pedi.

I am a colorstreet stylist. 100% nail polish strips . Safe for all little ones. And you could have a mommy & mani & pedi. Check out my facebook page @

Sorry too young. I’d say 13 maybe

Just take her and let them paint her nail no acrylic

To young!! Maybe a mani/pedi type thing would be more appropriate

The chance of infection is what worries me

I was like 10 or 12!

I’d do gel polish at the salon. That way they stay stronger and she can grow out her own.

Just a manicure no acrylics.
