Valacyclovir is an anti viral not an antibiotic, so if that is the medication you have been taking it doesn’t usually cause the same issues as an antibiotic would.

If it is herpes it is not life ending. I have a best friend with it down below and she is thriving and dating a man without it. And he knows and they are great! It’s really common and not world ending!!!
But go to a fast pace or a walk in clinic they can take blood and tell you within a few days.

Men don’t show signs like women do. The meds should have cleared up your genital area outbreak as well. First outbreak is usually the worst one you will have. Don’t be embarrassed. 1 in like 4 people have herpes. Shingles and cold sores are a form of herpes too but they are not as stigmatized.

He can spread it if he had it even without showing symptoms. But Becuz u had symptoms even with a confirm , it makes me think that you had an allergic reaction to the condom or already had it and it’s showing up now.
Herpes around the mouth would look like tiny red pimples around the lips. They hurt.
If the sores look big white and red round sores then that’s cold sores. Not the same thing.
Either way it’s not the end of the world. U can relax and know that it doesn’t define u and u can still be with ur bf , just use meds to keep symptoms at by and use protection.
It is extremely common std. mind u if ur ever stressed, u may experience a herpes flare up. Doesn’t have to flare up just Becuz ur in contact with it.
Herpes can lay dormant for years before you have signs. Men are usually carriers and don’t show signs. You both should get tested. I wouldn’t just put this on him though, it could have been you that contracted it years ago and just now showing symptoms.

I got a really bad grease burn and was prescribed antibiotics, got a pretty bad yeast infection from it. I’d say yes to the cold sores and no to genital herpes (but doesn’t hurt to get tested still)
Herpes simplex virus, either 1 or 2. Nothing to crawl into a hole over. Most people have it and most are asymptomatic. If you have it, it’s no different than a cold. You can either take an anti viral every day or upon a break out.
Your sore should have a culture swab done, that’s the most accurate way you can find out as most blood tests yield false positives

Don’t freak yourself out about it. It could be anything, from an ingrown hair that you didn’t notice to a bump from irritation from when you two were bumping uglies. It could be anything 
regardless of the outcome, this isn’t life ending. Life changing, sure. You have to inform your partners and take a medication. But life ending? Absolutely not. A lot of the human population carried the herpes virus. In fact, a majority carry a form of it and don’t know it. Nobody is perfect.
You can still get STDs with a condom.

Herpes a person can never get rid of, they have it for life, the sores come and go. They don’t have to be visible, that person will always have Herpes. The medication is only to help clear up the sores but you will have it for life now.
Antibiotics usually give a person a yeast infection after it is out of your system which usually takes 7 days after you stop taking it. That is because while it is working it kills both the good and bad bacteria. Once it is finished working the bad bacteria can multiply faster than the good so that’s where prebiotic comes in to put more hood in your system so the bad can not fester faster. You would not get a yeast infection while the antibiotic is working.

Valacyclovir is often used for herpes virus treatment, I got it from my exhusband. There’s two types, both can found on mouth and genitals but you don’t typically end up with both types. See your gyno about the swollen labia as that does not sound like herpes but could be bacterial or other possible sti.

Try and ease your mind a bit love!! I’ve gotten bad cold sores on my top lip since I was a kid literally got made fun of for it in elementary school already (and I’m 29 now). It very well could be from the antibiotics though. When I got older and they were a lot more ok prescribing me that antibiotic I always got a yeast infection. Between that one and amoxicillin it almost never fails. But I’ve never had any genital outbreak of it in all the years I’ve dealt with it! Ill get such a bad cold sore on my top lip right in the middle (literally almost NEVER the corner of my lips or my bottom whatsoever) that I actually have a small red scar from them always coming in the same spot… they pop up anytime I get way way to hot (which is kinda often bc I’m already real hot blooded sadly), or have a lot of stress going on and so on. I know it does suck having to wait to get testing done but I’ve been there as I’m sure a ton of others have as well and the best thing to do is just try and put your mind at ease as best as possible while you wait to be seen!

First off, it’s unlikely you got oral herpes from him and had an outbreak that fast. You can get the cold sore version from drinking/smoking after someone with it.

Valacyclovir is not an antibiotic, it’s an antiviral. It won’t cause a yeast infection, but you could still have BV or a yeast infection regardless. Just go see a gyno or your regular doctor and get checked out. Xx

Cold sores are also known as HSV-1, or oral herpes. Genital herpes is HSV-2. Valacyclovir is an antiviral, or Valtrex, which is prescribed for herpes. Sores show up anywhere from 2-20 days, with 4 being the usual incubation period. He may not have it, as herpes can lie dormant in your system for decades and isn’t included in a routine std test panel, but he also could have. Your dr should have explained all of this but I would def call back and ask them.

Swollen and itchy would be a different Sti like chlymida etc or yeast infection. as someone with hsv2 I can assure you that you would usually get flu like symptoms and then a horrid burning like nerve pain before any blister comes up. Also valacyclovir is a antiviral like tamaflu it’s not a antibodic at all

Go to an urgent care. The medication you were prescribed isn’t an antibiotic. Also you can still get herpes when there isn’t any cold sores visible.

Definitely need to get tested for both. Make sure to ask for it. They don’t automatically give you those test. Also if you go to urgent care they can test your urine to see if it is a current outbreak. But also you could have had this before you got with him. It can lie dormate. I have both types but yet have never had a single outbreak. They only way I found out was because I specifically asked for those tests

Antibiotics usually cause a yeast infection. I went on antibiotics for a brain infection which caused me to have a yeast /fungal infection. I got the pills and cream felt fine. Went away. I finished my antibiotics. After that, I still felt the same so my specialist prescribed me a stronger antibiotic and it happened again. So I had to do the same process over. It might just be that.
Cold sores are herpes and to me it seems you may have that. Yes itcan spread through your body an if you itched you could have done it. I would get tested and maybe his herpes wasn’t in a outbreak mode but it could have triggered your body. I’m sorry your going thru this.

Sounds like it could be either. When I have thrush I use tea tree oil either in mu bath or on a cool flannel. It’s an antibacterial and anesthetic so will cool the itch and burn.

Btw, it can take 6 months or more for a positive herpes test to show up. Just because he didn’t show any signs of herpes doesn’t mean anything. You can transmit without an outbreak due to viral shedding. Many people have it and probably don’t even know it.

Its possible to carry the virus and not have any symptoms.

Antibiotics often than not cause yeast infections which is why every time I take antibiotics I also get the 7 day monostat. And start taking it when there’s 5 days left of the antibiotic.

It’s likely the antibiotics are causing a yeast infection.
Valacyclovir is a viral suppressant medicine. Herpes 1 or 2 are both viruses so it can be used for either or both…However, If you have an open cold sore spot ANYWHERE the Dr can swab that spot & get a sample in order to see if you Herpes simple 2 (STI)…. Herpes simplex 1 (regular cold sores in your mouth) are common. Herpes simplex 2 (usually on genitalia but can be on mouth/face/eyes) It must have a open sore in order to swab & test (not blood work) They can start off looking like a zit or ingrown hair but do not pop it! The liquid inside will spread the virus & create another sore in the area where the liquid touched. If you are having any type of flu like symptoms that can also another early sign of Herpes simplex 2 where as 1 is just your usual sore spot on your mouth for a few days. If you still have an open sore then I would ask your dr to swab it & voice your concerns with them so they know how you are feeling.

It’s likely that it is herpes.
You don’t need to have an outbreak to pass it on. It is a virus that lives in the ganglia of the spine and travels through your nerves. Since it is a virus, it sheds. You can shed this virus at any time if you’re infected without ever showing symptoms. some people never experience an outbreak but still have the virus. So some people never know they have it.
Herpes is also not tested for in general STD panels. Herpes and trichomoniasis are STD panels you have to request. 90% of the time your provider will not test you unless you’re having an active outbreak. I encourage you to push back and request blood testing for exposure to the virus. If your doctor refuses, find another one who will do it.
Herpes carries a heavy stigma though it is the most common STD. It does not make you dirty, a hoe, or a nasty person to have herpes.
Over half the worlds population has herpes and 80% of that half have no idea because of how testing is conducted.

I’d also like to add that unless your doctor prescribed you a separate medication than your antivirals, valcyclovir would not cause a yeast infection as it is not an antibiotic. It is an antiviral.

How about getting tested BEFORE having sex regardless of who the person is?!. That way you can make an informed decision. You should probably request the 12-13 panel STD/STI test to see what is going on with you. You should go NOW to get tested to determine when the infection occurred (based on your antibodies IGM). Go to urgent care to have your vag examined. If it is a yeast infection, you might need a prescription for it. If it’s Genital herpes, you’d need to know that as well. To be honest, there is no telling what else you could have been infected with so you may want to ask for a throat culture.
Trust me, I’ve seen a lot working where I’ve worked. Hope this helps!

Do you have a planned parenthood close by? They may be able to do testing sooner for you, although even if it was it wouldn’t necessarily show up on a test that quickly. Oral without a condom is NOT protected sex! Lesson learned, hopefully not too late.
You should be able to go to any Planned Parenthood explain your situation explain your pain and what is going on And you should be able to request a full STI panel to be done
Also your new partner should be tested as well just to make sure he is clean so he didn’t lie to you and you guys were not passing it back-and-forth

Valacyclovir is not an antibiotic . It is an antiviral. You likely have genital herpes . After contact , symptoms show up 2-12 days later. Scabs, white blisters, red bumps, pain and itching are all signs of genital herpes.

Herpes are only diagnosed by sight. Like you can’t get blood work to find out if you have genital herpes. Blood work is for other STD. Anyway cold sores can happen to anyone, even drinking after someone. Do you normally get cold sores? If so then I wouldn’t worry about it. But I think it takes like 4 to 6 weeks to show sores down there. If you don’t have visible sores after those few weeks then your good. antibiotics can cause symptoms down there. Also if you weren’t lubed up good enough can cause irritation down there. Id give it a few weeks and then go from there. Also you said you used a condom and he didn’t have visible sores, then he more than likely dont have anything. Good luck and try not to stress over a cold sore.

I had it and it’s real itchy little blisters you get on your vagina. Very red to. I’d wait to see if you get blisters. Herpes simplex 1 is oral and simplex 2 is vaginal.

herpes symptoms come and go but they will reoccur as there is no cure… And not everyone get symptoms or they can get mild symptoms which can look just like a pimple or an ingrown hair. Also those meds won’t cause a yeast infection either.
Condoms don’t stop u from getting genital herpes … unfortunately my friend from manny many years ago. Got it this way as her partner was not honest

You’d be surprised at how many people have genital herpes. There’s more than 3 million US cases of genital herpes A YR!! Nationwide 1 out of 6 people have herpes. It’s very common in people ages 14-46, I believe. And the symptoms you shared describe it perfectly. I also don’t find it coincidental that you had mouth herpes and then 2 days later you get a strange herpes like break out on your vulva and labia area. If you get yeast infections a lot I’m going to assume you know exactly what to look for and can call it a wk before most could, that being said if these symptoms are different then you shouldn’t be asking you should be getting tested. Food for thought: condoms do NOT protect you from herpes. It’s spread thru skin-to-skin and tho the condom covers SOME skin it does not cover all skin.
