What to do for a baby with acid reflux?

My daughter had to use enfamil spit up. It’s a thicker formula and it made the biggest difference! She didn’t have it once we switched to that brand

Baby gaviscon was fantastic for my son, you might be able to get it prescribed by midwife/Gp xx

I had issues with my daughter Enfamil AR the orange can helped so much the first bottle the change was immediate

Call his pediatrician and get him in some medication. My son was on Omeprazole and it made a HUGE difference.

My son had this and soy formula and sleeping on an incline helped a lot.

My niece had to take baby zantac

Feed sitting up and sit up for a while after meals

If I use formula try engfamil ar if anything try to stick to breast milk if it doent change speak to the ped

Nothing to do as they get older it will go away and that’s all you can do and feel sorry for them and pray for them wish you all the best

Pediatric Gastroenterology and meds will help if nothing else does

My son took Pepcid. Really helps

Try nutramagin formula first then try dr if not helping

Sounds like he needs meds if it’s that bad. I breastfed and and cut out everything that would cause acid reflux and it still didn’t help ended up with meds

The dr prescribed my baby infant nexium. It’s a pouch of granules that you mix with water and it turns into a jelly like liquid.

This is what saved us! Pediatrician had us get this. You follow the measurements on the back but you put it directly into their bottle. You get them at any health food store or local store in the medicine/ health care area. They stay in the frig always since it’s live cells.
My youngest has severe acid reflux and it was hell. Nothing would work but keeping her upright, letting her sleep in her bouncer, carseat, swing & rock in play (I know, I know) but we were desperate. Oh and lots of baths & walks to get her to calm down. We also had to switch her to Soy formula. Which also helped a lot.

My daughter had acid reflux and our pediatrician prescribed baby Zantac and it totally helped. She grew out of it within a couple months.

My son had this as well and his doc told me to add baby oatmeal to his formula to thicken it up. He would projectile vomit every where after every feeding. This helped alot.

We had something similar happen with my son. We kept getting told it was acid reflux but it wasn’t. It turned out to be a milk protein allergy on top of lactose allergy. It may be worth it to try a hypoallergenic formula like similac alimentum or enfamil nutramigen.

Call your local doctor office ask for help with asit reflx

Go get a gi…………
Don’t wait…….

Famotidine will help but I promise you SENSTIVE formula, either enfamil or Similac will change your life forever (it’s the one in the orange can). Both of my babies had it bad and as soon as I switched them to that specific formula it completely resolved and I didnt have to have them on the medication anymore. TRUST ME!

My son was this way! …. We switched him to alimentum formula!!! It was a game changer!

Have you tried Soybee by Enfamil I had to switch to that for my daughter cause she was so bad. Definitely helped

My son had acid reflux so bad he would get choked and it would cut his airway off. They told me to put a tablespoon or 2 of cereal in his bottles to help him and keep him propped up for awhile after feedings. It worked well. We also switched his formula. Hope all gets better

They can give you medicine for gert (sever acid reflux). It takes about 4 days to really kick in, but the difference is night and day. I’ve had 3 babies (1 being my son) who I watched transformations on. We also were told to put them in a sitting position for 30 minuets after feedings and I started adding gripe water to the bottles as well.
I truly hope you find relief because it is incredibly hard on babies and mommas.

My daughter has acid reflux. Enfamail a r and then burping regularly and keeping her sitting up for about 30 mins has really helped us. Thankfully her Dr really worked with us to find the best thing for her.

Hang in there… it gets better from about 4 months

Asterisk to keep thoughts in order…
*Keep babe up right for at least 20 minutes after a feed

  • Try a different formula. AR formulas have rice starch added in so they don’t rise (rather than adding rice cereal yourself)
You could try ready to feed formula. They sit a bit heavier than powder.
You could also give a hypoallergenic formula a try. This helped my oldest an absolute Ton. It was actually a milk protein allergy that made his acid reflux so bad he projecttile vomitted
*Talk to baby’s doctor about prescribing a antacid.

Try goats milk ,this works

My daughter was the same we had to switch to Nutramigen and had rice cereal to it we had to see a specialist and that’s what they said

We had one. Dr didn’t believe me at first. “All babies spit up.” It was insane how much he would spit up. It was actually affecting his large motor development which dr realized and we started occupational therapy. Also saw a GI specialist. I am not giving medical advice so please see a dr but we eventually were able to find a med (it was an over the counter med we were advised to crush and put in bottles) that helped and the specialist had us starting cereal in bottles to thicken. He was also under weight because of all the vomiting. He also screamed while awake most days. The OT was a big help because it strengthened his abdominal muscles which helps with the vomiting. My guy is 8 now and it felt like as an infant he would never get better but it did improve with time

Tried breastfeeding, and every formula on the market. I tried a 2 drops (eye dropper) of olive oil was told it put a cover over the stomach contents and helped coat the throat to limit burn, not sure it really helped. Horrid thing to watch your bub go through, the only advice that really turned to be true was, " not much you can do until the baby can feed themselves" keep an eye on bubs weight and consult the doctor if not thriving. In the old days we could buy a mix like gaviscon for babies that the chemist would make up, midwife or chemist maybe able to help.

Add a little ceral to make it thicker.

With mine nothing worked, we switched to the Similac Alimentum, we used gas drops which helped some and his doctor even tried a medicine but no matter what we did he would not take it. If we put in his milk he would know it was there and not drink it. It never affected him in any way, no weight loss or anything so we just had to deal with it and it was the same, not just spit up but projectile vomiting. It broke my heart and we had a lot of ruined clothes but once we started solids it all got better. I was also advised to try goats milk by my mil but we never tried that one. Good luck, it does get better, I promise!

Have you tried EleCare formula?

My son was on nature’s sunshine catnip and fennel. We would put it in his milk. It’s just a more natural way to help with the reflux.
You put one to two drops in their milk (per oz) and if you are breast feeding the mother will take some as well. Google Natures Sunshine catnip & fennel.

My daughter had to drink nutramogen

My son spit up all the time after every eating… was also told it was acid reflux … but as he got older he grew out of it… I just had to carry extra clothes and spit rags with me… But good luck momma hopefully you can figure something out soon to help you both!

My son started getting reflux when had a milk allergy. Changed his formula to nutramigen, it calmed down a bit. But ended up being put on meds. It’s the only thing that has helped. Also started giving him cereal which helped. Little over 2 mo old

I do not want to scare you, but you need to get to a pediatric gastroenterologist ASAP. When my daughter was six weeks old, she choked on the acid in her throat and could not breathe. We called 911 and she was rushed to the hospital. She was diagnosed with severe acid reflux and sleep apnea. She was put on several medicines by the pediatric gastroenterologist and put on prescription formula as well as a SIDS monitor.

My niece and nephew were prem and had this they were perscribed infant gaviscon x

My granddaughter had bad reflux and they did a fundo operation. It helped her and now her baby sister has it even worse and we are looking to do it for her too.

My son was put on meds for it.

Grip water
Gas relieve drops

My little boy was the same at 6 weeks old (now 14 weeks) we brought him to gp and they said bad acid reflux and put him on tablets but didn’t work he ended up in hospital with pyloric stenosis and needed surgery.my eldest boy suffered with acid reflux and doctor told us try gaviscon sachets in his bottles and after a few days he was like a new child

My granddaughter was born with it doc put her on medicine for it

Started around 2 months but when we got her on the right medication was at 3 months our pediatrician tried pepsid but with that you have to break open the capsule and “dissolve” the little beads which don’t actually dissolve no matter what. I asked for a liquid and she’s on pepsid 0.2ml twice a day and its made a huge difference. Went from throwing up a whole bottle to just little bits of spit up from a burp or too excited. Also all babies that have acid reflux absolutely hate being on their tummy. I spread tummy time out throughout the day about 10 times for about 2 or so minutes or however long she lasts.(side note, we did try the gripe water and it was to the point I was giving it to her all day, her pediatrician said if it didn’t help with the first try then its not going to)

Doctor had me do rice cereal in bottles

We used Zantac twice a day every day for 2 years.

My grand daughter was like that,my husband used to play rugby with the head pediatrition at st b,the took her to see him, give her prosobe and oval drops she should be okay in about 3 days, she was okay that same evening, prosobe is a bean milk I think, she was lactose intolerant ,I was so gratful

Get medication. My daughter’s baby was on adult strength Nexium for several months, until her insides could cope.

Milk allergy possibly. Definitely check with your pediatrician!

The people I knew whose children had similar issues usually went to their pediatrician and followed their advice…

My son is exactly the same way. We have been prescribed baby Prilosec and I have him on Gerber Good Start Soothe formula. It’s the only one he can stomach. Don’t be afraid to try different formulas, it’s rough but it might help you find the one that works best.

My son was like this too. I had to add rice cereal to his formula and that helped a little and they finally prescribed him baby zantac!

My baby also had this. My Dr said to give him infant Gaviscon. It worked so well.

My 6w old is on famotodine. I also have him on Colic Calm (can be found on Amazon) and he’s a different baby!

Try giving him gas drops before he. Eats

We had to use a thicker formula and he slept propped up or on daddy’s chest in the recliner.

I had to keep switching formulas. Ended up on good start supreme

Famotidine will help but I promise you SENSTIVE formula, either enfamil or Similac will change your life forever (it’s the one in the orange can). Both of my babies had it bad and as soon as I switched them to that specific formula it completely resolved and I didnt have to have them on the medication anymore. TRUST ME!

Oatmeal powder in milk. Like 1 teaspoon per 5 oz

MYLICON. Scrap formula change your diet and baby will be happy.

Definitely see your pediatrician, but at home some things that you could try is to start him on some good baby probiotics. Try to prop him up some while he sleeps. They make baby wedges specifically for that reason. Also, as funny and odd as it may sound, check your area for a chiropractor that will work on babies. Two trips to the chiropractor and some probiotics made all the difference in the world for my kiddo.

My Dr put my daughter on medication and that helped a ton. Also a little boy I used to babysit had horrible acid reflux and she would mix a little baby cereal rice powder into the bottle to thicken it up and it helped him a lot. But I think your baby may be too young for that

Mine had it really bad until she started to wean. I was given baby gaviscon.
I also elevated the crib at the head end by placing a book under the feet so she wasn’t laying completely flat. When she moved to the bigger crib I folded a towel and popped it under the mattress head end x

My girls did the same. It was a dairy allergy they grew out of around 2 years of age.

Try goats milk worked for my grandaughter
