What worked for you to lose weight?

My doctor told me I’m overweight and need to lose about 50 pounds to have the proper BMI for my height. I don’t even know where to start. Can anyone tell me what has worked for them?

Low carb. Cut sugar, gluten and white carbs - bread, pasta, potatoes, etc. Get active. Even if it’s a 30 minute walk. The Mediterranean diet is an amazing diet to look into. Intermittent fasting can also help. And don’t forget portion control

Whole 30! Pure barre helped with activity and “me time”

Literally the only thing that works for me is wii fit. Which sounds dumb but I didn’t even lose weight when I was going to the gym every day for a couple months. I also do intermittent fasting, more so now that it’s summer because I can’t eat a ton when it’s hot.

I quit drinking soda and took hydroxycut lost 50lbs un less than 6 months

Intermentent fasting, only water to drink, healthy food choices most the time, walking

I started keto 2 months ago and I’m down 32 lbs!

I would walk a 5K 3 times a week and do light work outs at home or the gym 3 days a week. I also had smaller healthier meals, and ate every 2 to 3 hours.

Watching calories more out then in. Weight training.

Portion control and water. I’d focus on more smaller meals (4 or 5 if possible). Try not to drink your calories.

Cortney Grinstead …message her she can give you some great options!!

Stop drinking your calories, drink only water, eat less carbs more veggies, less processed foods.

Healthy food choices. I’ve lost 25 lbs since May since I’ve cut down on pastas/bread and turned to the instant pot and air fryer and grill and fresh foods from meats to veggies to fruits.

Mind your calories for your body type and exercise. Definitely cut soda, juice, and candy. But mind your mental health. A cheat day isn’t going to kill you.

Im pregnant and have gestational diabetes i have to basically follow a keto diet and have lost about 20lbs with no other changes, basically low carb low sugar high protein. With my 1st pregnancy i gained over 60lbs total so ive been shocked to be loosing so much just by cutting some stuff out. Ive had doubts about keto and havent been strict but i can definitely see why it works

Keto! On it a month down 15 pounds and a pant size… and i love my food and I’m a big person so if I can do it so can you!

Working out and practically zero bad carbs

Drink plenty of water during the day around 8:30pm or 9 pm I completely stop eating till the next day around noon or 1pm I will snack lightly have a good size portion last September I weighted 225 now I weigh 198 and going down watch ur calories substitute stuff from high calories to lower ones

Start by taking a couple less bites of everything you eat.

I would usually go through a family pack of oreos in 2 days by myself with hubby getting maybe 3. I have a pack that I bought over a week ago and it still has 5 cookies left in it. Lol.

Keto diet worked great for me and my family. I have never felt this great! It is hard for about the first month but then becomes a breeze.

Coming from someone whose lost 100lbs plus with no surgery. You know your body and what it can do. Start small from cutting out soda drink more water, slowly cut back on sweets and heavy carbs the bread, chips, un necessary snacking etc. Start walking and build up. I fell in love with kickboxing and cross fit. I am type 2 diabetic with high blood pressure. Working out is my saving grace. …

Don’t go with a fad diet. Simply control your portions and eat healthy. veggies are important they provide fiber which helps make you feel full. Drink lots of water. Often when we feel hungry it’s a cry for a drink of water.

I cut out pop I haven’t drank pop since April 5th of this year, I drink sweet tea once a month, I cut out sweets, I eat once a day and at night I eat a stick of string cheese and a Greek yogurt. I don’t eat greasy food anymore as I got an air fryer which is awesome my fiance is usually into eating fried food but he don’t want that anymore now that I cook meat in the air fryer. Now I am eating salads. I seen I was losing like two pounds in a couple of days cuz I would weigh myself every time I take a shower then I seen I was gaining again cuz I slipped and was ratings Swiss rolls bad idea lol. I’m gonna start exercising. My cousin is doin a weight loss to, she is doing work outs which I think she said it’s called HIIT, she used to be chunky I seen a pic of her and she lost alot of weight doin that I think she does a calorie intake of 1200.

Swimming is a great exercise even if you are just walking back and forth in the pool with water weights, lost 20lbs in 6 months and is not so hard on your body because all the weight is on the water

Honestly just watch what u eat, try to not eat late at night, less sugars, drink water, and walking

BMI are jokes. It doesn’t measure health or any other factors. I personally said forget the BMI and focus on weight loss yes but more so healthy and strong. But eating healthier is more important than working out though working out is important, weightloss comes more from your diet. So keep that in mind.

Smaller portions. Serve yourself with a smaller plate so it seems big. LOTS OF WATER! Eat regular meals but if you feel hungry inbetween drink water

My advice was given to me from a friend who had just undergone weight loss surgery, she was still working on this. Flex those abs! When washing dishes. When watching TV. Anytime. Eventually, you will have a 6 pack. And drink ice cold water. Your body burns calories trying to warm the water to body temperature before it processes it. This combo is why I have a 6 pack after 5 kids. Most of family is overweight. I am genetically designed to be a large person, but I have a thigh gap.

Walk, 45 minutes a day

Low carb/high protein diet. I’ve lost over 40 pounds in 3 months. Eat very little to no noodles, potatoes, breads, etc. No sugar either so cut out pop, tea and junk food. No cake, cookies, candy, chips, ice creams, pizza, etc. Basically no empty calories. No fried, greasy foods. Drink at least a gallon of water a day.

I sell tru vision! I love it im on my third week i have lost about 12 pounds… im also not good with sticking to it… but its two pills twice a day! I have monds of energy… i dont change my diet and dont exercise other then walking!

I use the “noom” app, walk at least 10,000 steps a day, cut back on soda (only water), and do some cardio exercises

My doctor told me I was obese at 150 lbs and I’m 5’6 because of BMI. It’s an outdated way to determine weather or not you are a healthy weight. But, if you want to lose weight then a high protein diet, combined with a lot of water and exercise is the best IMO

The keto diet, lazy keto you will love it

Went to a dietician and had a blood draw done to find out what foods I had sensitivities too and caused me inflammation. Lost 20lbs just by eliminating the foods that caused me issues!

Try proportioning your foods. Literally you can eat what you want (not saying donuts and pizza every day) I’m saying you just got eat smaller low carb good protein meals :slightly_smiling_face: and yes a little
Brownie or a cup cake once in a while will not hurt you! Taking walks, swimming , any kind of physical activity like even YouTube yoga for just 30 mins like 4 times a week will help a lot and also drink ALOT of water , cut out juices or sodas and that will help a lot. I drink bubbly water now if I want like a soda , make sure it’s not the one with sugar though

I do keto. I did it. Lost weight. Felt great. Went off it. Regretted it. Gained weight back. Went back on. Got back to where I was and am so glad I did. Never stopping again.

Lazy Keto and daily walks I lost 50 lbs

Eat more things from the earth or anything that had a life plants and /or animals. And lots of water

No sugar, rice, potatoes, flour or pasta. No processed food. Only real food. Carbs under 30grams a day. Just protein and fresh veggies. Real food! Nothing with sugar in it. Not even fake sugar. Not even sugar free! I promise it works!

Oh and lots of water!!!

I’ve tried every diet known to man :grimacing: it’s really about what is a sustainable life style for you.

I lost a bunch of weight doing keto (80lbs) but I couldnt go without carbs forever

Weight watchers was great, but It was just to costly for me

I know a gal doing noom, and has done absolutely amazing. But I personally cannot afford that.

There some friends doing beach body that look like bikini models

I’ve be following the Jillian Michaels app for the last year. It’s $15 a month and fully customizable to your fitness level and the diet/difficulty of recipes. I started just for the home workouts, but recently started following her “quick/easy” diet plan to broaden my palette, and the recipe taste amazing.

I currently listen the Phit-and-Phat podcast too. It’s free. This lady just really helps you figure out the mindset to start losing weight. And it’s helped more than anything else. (She has a program too but it’s super expensive :grimacing:)

I lost 50 lbs with Herbalife.

I do keto with intermittent fasting and I stay active!

1st, BMI is not a gold standard. Period. My BMI is the top of the “good” range and people comment on my being “thin” and “in good shape” all the time. You can tell more from bloodwork and how your energy, sleep, and focus feel.

That said. I was 35 lbs heavier a year ago and felt very uncomfortable in my body but also very lazy about dieting and exercise (not good but it is true LOL) and started using a system I now actually promote, and lost the weight and have kept it off. One of those “can’t hurt to try” things and in 4 months I was back in my jeans from high school :woman_shrugging:. I still have chicken wings if I want, I just feel done after 5 instead of 10- I never have to go without or feel deprived. I really can’t recommend it enough

Honestly get a certified health and wellness coach. We will spend time 1-1 finding out what works for your body. What may nourish one may add bloat to someone else. Its also a lifestyle change that takes a little time. I do free discovery calls to see if you feel like we could be a good fit. PM me if you’re interested. Just be gentle and give yourself time. The weight didn’t go on overnight and to do it healthy it won’t come off overnight either. You’ve got this

Proper nutrition and adequate hydration for your body are key!! I’ve lost 65 pounds in the last ten months with NO working out! Simply by changing how I ate! I’m getting ready to start adding working out into my regiment to be able and continue weight loss, as I’ve struggled with being overweight most of my life. Thank you Beachbody!

Intermittent fasting

I did IF then OMAD about 2 years ago. Had a baby 9 months ago and now starting again. Since I know it work for me.

Eat lots of colorful vegetables (make this the focus and centerpiece of all your meal planning from now on), fruits & whole grains, very little red meat or starches/carbs, sugar and cheese. Use raw veggies as much as possible. Buy plain yoghurt & add fruit, nuts, or a little maple syrup, applesauce or fruit spread, even chocolate, carob or stevia sweetened chocolate chips.

Do anything to move more (sex counts!). Walk with a friend (masked & 6’ apart for now), put on music & shake your booty, garden, lift gallon bottles of water, park farther away, bike to run errands. Try video Tai Chi & beginning yoga on you tube, DVD, as they are great for the less athletic & require little space & just a mat. Check out Carmen Brocklehurst Joy through Movement; it’s easy to do and remember and has body, mind & spirit benefits.

Use small bowls, plates, dessert forks & spoons to trick yourself into eating smaller portions. Put salads & veggies in big bowls with big forks to eat more of those. For veggies you’re not excited about, eat while reading, or in front of a screen so you can down them mindlessly. Wait 20 minutes after eating to see if you really want more.

Find substitutes for the “bad” foods you like so you don’t feel completely deprived. Spaghetti squash or zoodles, whole wheat bread or pasta, brown rice, sweet vs. white potatoes (cinnamon is fine but skip the brown sugar & marshmallows). Look up easy Nice Cream recipe. Stevia, agave nectar, applesauce instead of sugar, and honey & maple syrup in SMALL quantities. Opt for sparkling water instead of soda (just found one with caffeine if you need), blend in tofu instead of cream for creamy foods. You can use bacon, pepperoni & sharp cheeses to spice up foods as a little bit adds a lot of flavor. Try a variety of hot cereals w/o any sugar in them & add fresh or frozen fruit for meals other than breakfast. Most egg dishes are good. I add salsa, greens, peppers, any leftover veggies to my scrambled eggs and omelets, plus curry, chili powder, basil & oregano, parsley are options to add flavor.

Air popped popcorn with Parmesan cheese, or herbs & spices (onion & garlic powder, chili powder, curry, paprika, cayenne, whatever you like, or all of the above will work) are good snacks; a handful of wheat pretzels, Maria cookies or animal crackers or a handful of Teddy Grahams also. There are also bags of kale chips, bean based snack chips/puffs and chocolate or cheese rice cakes at the grocery store.

For every recipe, double the amount of veggies and halve the carbs and meats. Or just add extra veggies to whatever you’re making—a can of beans, peas, Chinese veggies, or frozen peas, mixed vegetables or chopped spinach, or any fresh veggies you have on hand. Use hummous instead of mayo or ketchup on a sandwich or in a recipe.

Bake, broil, grill or air fry foods. Remove skin & fat on meats, get water packed tuna (add water chestnuts, dill, other vegetables in addition to celery in your tuna salad & use less mayo). Use romaine leaves as lettuce wraps instead of flour wraps.

Tough to eat out healthy, but look for places with vegetables. Cava, Panera, Sweet Green, Chop’t are good, soup & salad places, and Mediterranean restaurants, especially those with mezze, are good choices. Skip most of the bread. Get a carry out box & put half the meat & carbs in it to take home. Add more healthy veggies to the leftovers when you eat them. I can make a steak or chicken breast last 3 meals. Look first at vegetables on the menu and design your meal around those.

Pick unsweetened iced tea, water, seltzer, lite beers, drier wines (whites are less caloric) & lower calorie cocktails. Or add seltzer to your wine or other drink to make it lighter & last longer.

Eat organic, hormone-free meats & dairy. We certainly don’t need any growth hormones! Organic fruits and vegetables are better, but meat & dairy are key items to get organic. If you eat more plant vs. animal protein, you can afford it. BTW, quinoa which you can cook in about 5 minutes, is a complete protein and you don’t need to add meat or fish.

If you HATE to cook, buy fresh produce at discount grocery stores & other stuff at Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Mom’s Organic Market. Aldi has lots of healthy frozen & packaged options too, including cauliflower crust frozen pizza. I always add extra lettuce to those little salad bowls.

1200 calories a day and adipex from a diet dr. Lost 50 lbs

Watch the carbs, limit anything over 15g or carbohydrates. Dave’s killer bread has one that I ate for breakfast with cream cheese since I couldn’t have my morning bagel.

Workout and eat right it took me up to a year to lose my stomach fact or to get control of it.

If it’s just 50 lbs honestly you can do it by doing home workouts, walking, cutting down on your intake, and incorporating lots of veggies or raw food. I suggest juicing as well, it worked tremendously for me. And of course Lots and lots of water. Don’t waste your money by getting a gym member ship or a personal trainer. You can get it done on your own

I’m reading all the advice too I’ve been working on getting rid of my baby fat uuggghhhh

Don’t buy junk food, sweets or soft drinks in you groceries, but healthy snacks instead. If you don’t have it in the house, you can’t give in to those craving as easily. Also stop eating you meals when you are no longer hungry, make smaller portions, and drink only water.

No bread, no Coke’s diet or not, smaller portions at meals, and eat only when you are hungry. I’ve lost 109lbs in 2 1/2 yrs. still keeping to off

To lose weight u can’t put yourself on a strict diet. Because it’s not realistic as far as the long term. To lose weight you have to drink tons of water. That’s my biggest thing is water. All day everyday. Matter of fact just cut everything else out lol. And just drink water! And do Pamela Reif/chloe ting workouts. They have fun workouts. I like doing the dance workouts. And then when you eat, eat in smaller portions. And try not to eat sweets, and things that are obviously not healthy. Don’t cut it out completely just buy like… idk dark chocolate when you feel like eating chocolate or… fruit when you need something fruity…And cook all your food, no fast food! Ik its a lot but hope this helps!

less carbs and sweet, 500 jumping jacks everyday. Very effective for fat burner exercise.

Definitely go see a nutrition specialist to work out a diet plan. Its not all about exercise!! Good luck

100% 123 diet check it out on fb

BMI is a terrible measurement. I’m 5’9" and 189 amd according to my BMI, I am almost obese. I’m not a skinny mini but def not obese. For me, keto and increasing excercise has worked well. I follow keto 99% of the time. I do give myself like 1 or 2 cheat meals a month but make sure I know how many carbs are in what I am eating then too.

I use an app called ITrackBites. It’s $35 for the year ( which is super cheap compared to other programs like weight watchers ) and it keeps track of calories, macros etc. you hold yourself accountable staying within points it gives you ( points are given according to goals ) and there a whole community. You can lose the weight with a proper calorie deficit diet, exercise and tons of water! Limit on how much processes food you eat and learn the difference between good carbs and bad carbs. Goodluck!

I personally work out while cleaning around the house and I did work out with my daughter in one of those carries you attach to you. Because I’m scared to go to the gym

If you have access to a pool - start walking in the pool. Low impact on your ones and feet. A friend lost over 100 lbs simply by walking and eating better

Create and eat within a caloric deficit and begin a workout regime. I know it’s not the “simplest” way to lose weight, but this is what a nutritionist or personal trainer would recommend

Simple math with calories. I uploaded my fitness pal and you simply write all you eat it counts calories and tells you when you got limit calories sodium etc.

Start out with walking even 15 mins several times a week & work your way up. Eat whole foods(avoid processed crap). Watch your portions & research low-glycemic index foods. Stop drinking alcohol, pop, or anything with sugar. Once you get the hang of it, just keep adding more healthy habits.

Everyone wants to down it but the paleo diet or the Elimination Diet or a low-carb diet or keto diet actually does work I’ve seen amazing results on the paleo diet I went from 200 pounds to a hundred and thirty-two before I had my first kid I’m going to be restarting that diet I just had my third kid a little under a year ago and I’m hoping to see the same results this time around you can always look into the paleo diet or low carb diet they really do help and they helped me alot controlled my hypothyroidism

Walking worked for me.

Portion control diet is best I lost 30 pounds within two months

The best thing to do is treat it like a lifestyle change, because if you try a fad diet to lose weight fast, you’re going to boomerang that weight back when you go back to old habits. Diets are unsustainable. My husband is a nutrition and fitness coach, so I’m obviously going to plug him, but you can also look into dieticians as well. You don’t have to cut out all your favourite foods, or lower your portion sizes, you just need to make the right choices, so an expert would be able to help with something like that.

BMI standard is unrealistic. I lost 50 lbs. by cutting out all fast food except salads, and no sweets or white bread. Then I just started walking. Started out at 2 miles a day and now I’m up to 5-7 miles. Increase your protein. If I can do it at my age, you can too. Just be patient. You’ll hit plateaus but keep plugging away.
