My son was 3.5 months old. I didnt talk to the Dr about it ever. I just did it.
Baby food purees at 4 months
I started at 5 months. My little guy was taking spoons and food out of my hands. If they show interest I say go ahead, but I’m no doc. My 3 year old also started at 5 months and he’s fine:joy: how old is your baby?
My son was 4 months as well for purées, then we started solids at 6m
My son is 7 months old, I started baby led weaning at 4-5 months. He loves food, my doctor agrees with the baby led weaning.
Both of my kids started baby food at 4 months.
Around 6 months I put a blob of it on their highchair tray. Some ended up in their mouths.
Doc usually says if a baby is holding their head up, not like a spur of the moment holding it up but actually holding it up unsupported.
i always just started mine on baby food when i got a motherly instinct that they was ready and it was safe
The AAP recommends waiting till 6 months at MINIMUM!!! He can hold off two more months I promise it won’t hurt him
Six months so they don’t get allergies as they’re older
He’s a big fan of scrambled eggs
The “Drs” these days are crazy!! Feed that baby some food!
3 months with all 7 of my kids
At least 6 months. Their little tummies aren’t ready before that.
I am definitely not a doctor but with my little man it was between 4/6 months with small amounts of baby food while his main source was from formula. I think they told me he had to be holding his head up/sitting comfortably
I started at 4 months. He was showing an interest at 3 months so I would dip my finger in food and let him try and see how his little belly would agree, by 4 months he was eating whole jars of baby purée
I’d wait til at least 6 months if they are showing all the signs. Anything before that can cause digestive issues as there tummy isn’t ready for food until they show all the signs
I started at 6 months. He wasn’t ready until then though and didn’t show much interest at all until closer to 7 months. Take her cues and maybe start with the little puffs.
We did BLW at 6 months and all signs of readiness, as recommended by the AAP
6m if showing signs of readiness. Their tummies aren’t really ready before then
I did baby led weaning
I started my youngest at 3 months…she was ready
When a full bottle wasn’t enough to hold them over until a normal feeding time. I started with adding a little rice to their bottles and once they were a pro at swallowing it down with no issue I moved on to baby food. I wanna say somewhere between 4-6 months old
My older 3 were 2-3 months old. My youngest who was a micro preemie was 7 months. Follow your mother instinct
They will let you know when they’re ready!
Personally I’d follow the Dr’s advise. Like ours suggest to start early because of his weight and appetite.
If she’s curious, it’s ok to give her very small amounts of purees. But her source of nutrition should still be milk/formula.
Listen… They tell you that because some parenta are stupid… Dont put a tbone in hee mouth by no means but mash potatoes… Gravy even with a little bread you know thr consistency your baby can handle start with baby cereal and get her used to the thicker textures then move to baby food… My now 10 year old was starving… My mom fried a soft egg for him at 4 months and that was a wrap kid has loved food from that moment on… Stay soft… And reasonable ans feed her… Youe mama you know what she needs
Follow your mama heart. Told me the same but I always fed mine. They happy and healthy
We started at 4 months. Along with starting the sippy cup. Our dr was encouraging it.
My son is 16. He was hungry. I added rice cereal to his formula at about 3 weeks old. Fed him rice cereal at about 3 months. Pureed veggies at 4 months. He is strong, healthy, tall and has a healthy relationship with food.
According to the doctor my daughter has if you need to feed a baby pablum is the best thing to start off with at 4 months. Remember to test her with different foods singularly at a time cause your supposed to check for any allergies
Do not start before 6 months & all signs are readiness are met! Open gut is a very real thing. Just cause others babies were fine, doesn’t mean yours will be.
The reason they want you to wait till 6 months is to insure that the babies tummy is developed enough. Feeding baby food early can permanently alter babies tummy microbiota. This can cause problems like entercolitis, diarrheal disease and allergies. I would definitely say to wait to be safe!!
Cereal at 3 to 4mos then after that veg and then friut
She sounds like she us ready ma, it’s really about baby being ready to eat. Try her out on food.
This will be a personal and medical decision. You’re gonna get different answers.
Whenever you feel she is ready. She’s your baby
If she is sitting independently and able to hold her head up, you’re probably okay to start introducing purées.
We started at 4 months!
All 3 of my babies doctors told me not till after 6 months.
4 Months I started with baby rice and baby porridge and mushed up rusks. He was sooo interested in food and forward, i was also advised against it like I think everyone is until 6mnths (unless reasons) but once I told my health visitor she said to keep it up now he’s started and doing well. Just little amounts to start and use stuff like baby rice so you can still use whatever milk your daughter is on as the main thing so it’s not a big change. My son loved banana flavoured baby porridge. I couldn’t just let him watch me eat without him when I knew he was so ready for it x
My doctor said when they start sitting supported
My oldest (2yr) started around 5-6m as she was my first and that’s what was recommended but with my second (7mo) we started 4-5m! The signs they say to look for is interested in food and sitting up on their own! We started with the baby oatmeal you mix with breast milk or formula to adjust her tummy then after a couple weeks of that I would give little amounts of purée! Before 6mo it’s more for taste/ filling their tummy they still get all the nutrients and vitamins they need through bm or formula then once they hit 6mo they start to depend a little more on food and less on the milk/formula. But every baby is different and you as a mama know what’s best for your baby so if you think she’s ready then she probably is!
3 and a half months. And 5 months when they looked interested in food when I ate
Recommendations here(Ireland) are Formula fed babies to start weaning from 4 months. Breast fed babies start from 6 months. I started with baby rice, baby porridge and purees at 4 months.
Stomaches develop differently. My baby was all breast till 7 months when my Dad gave her milk …so it just depends. Introduce it slowly.
Nothing before 6 months
Six months old she would be eating! Applesauce and rice cereal already in the jar. Start with one thing at a time.
I would start at 4 months. I watch kids and the mom who shared later with her daughter ended up having issues with swallowing the food.b I also started both my babies at 4 months old and they were just fine.
I did all my kids at 4 months and my 2 grandkids are both 1 and they were eating stage 1 baby food at 4 months
She is ready, purees rusk baby rice I started at 4 months🙂
6 months. Skip the cereal, its just empty calories.
I never did cereal for any if mine (3) and started them all on baby food at 4 months
Your best bet is to tall to your pediatrician. My doctor gave me the go ahead for all three of mine at 3-4 months to start with a bit of cereal. Because at that age they were drinking a full 8 oz bottle and still not satisfied. Asking here you’re just going to get a mix of opinions.
My sons pediatrician said we could at 4 months old
Mummas intuition you’ll know
Give them baby puree
1 month. He is 50 now. Grew like a horse
6 months + … there’s no need for earlier and they’re insides aren’t mature enough for solids before then.
If I had it to do over again, I’d wait until six months. Each kid started at 4 months old and we ran into lots of things that broke out the skin. As they got older, their bodies tolerated food better.
I just did it one day and told her pediatrician about it and he said it was fine. She’s now 4. She’s your typical kiddo.
My daughter (now 7) we started around 5 1/2 months but with my son we started at 4 months. Start with veggies first since they tend to be less sweet and do 1-2 every week
Feed that baby start with rice cereal oatmeal no pb or honey until 1-2 incase of allergies they say start with vegetables stage one baby food I started on any and all and mixed rice cereal in it i also out it in there milk per Dr cause my oldest had reflex so with that being said at 2 month with all mine they had cereal and then food
Starting a bit early at 3 to 4 months with baby cereal with a bit of baby pureed fruit mixed in or applesauce at a tim when you both are relaxed and happy. Not for the nutrition but to help baby and you both learn how to use the spoon. When you need to add cereal and food to baby’s diet baby will know that the spoon gives good taste like the milk source.
Better waiting till 6 months if you think he’s hungry up his bottles make sure he’s having 8-9 onz each bottle my son was on 5-6 a day 8 onz he was a big baba but didn’t need food just started the first week with banana then second week mash pot! Better waiting defo they are more then ready then xxxx
Fed when you feel like it 4 months 5 months my kids range in age from 41 to 31 and I fed them at 4 months now a days people are afraid of everything my philosophy is do what makes you comfortable
Baby food at 4 months, I just strongly recommend only feeding veggie flavors cause if you start with fruit they tend to be sooo picky. I learned my lesson with my 1st
Food before one is just for fun!
You can give your baby Stage One baby food it’s for 4-6 month olds. I’ve been feeding my daughter baby food since she was 4 months old, she’s going to be 7 months next week and loves every kind of baby food there is.
My first was 4 months my last was 2 months… all babies are different!
6 months definitely. But it depends on the child. I had to start my first born on solids at 4 months, and now, because she is constantly hungry, they think she has a thyroid problem. Otherwise, she just has a really high metabolism. You know your kid better than us. Others will argue rice cereal is bad.
It depends on how well they can hold their head up and stuff my son was on baby food by the time he was 3 months old cause the formula and cereal wasn’t satisfying him
I started feeling baby for at 2 months fruit and cereal (rice) like 2 tables spoons in milk will sleep all night
I’d wait until 6 months. Interest in food doesn’t mean they are ready for it or actually need it. I was the same, gave my now 9 year old rice cereal at 4 months but there’s more information around now and I waited until 6 months with my now 3 year old. Breast milk or formula is all your child needs until about 6 months. And rice cereal really has no nutritional value. If baby is showing signs of still being hungry then add more breast milk or formula.
Between 5-6 months and just straight solids. I would let them have little tastes of things like some guac or something but a tiny bit. It’s more that they’re digestive system isn’t ready for solids yet
My baby Dr told me to start giving my 4 month old baby food
I started all 4 kids at 4 months old with baby cereal
6/7 months here. Foods not important so I don’t rush.
Start with little tastes of stuff. Mainly veggies and meat puree, leave all the sugary and fruit stuff til later they don’t need it
My daughter just turned 5 months and her dr told me to start her on food especially before bed cause she was up every 2 hours eating more the 4oz bottles. Totally helped.
Why do you trust random people online more than your pediatrician? Your pediatrician, the one who knows your child’s health and needs most, said 6 months, so 6 months is when you start.
My daughter was 6 months and my son was 7 months.
6 mths usually suggested but if baby taking in alot of formula doesn’t seem like enough go with cereal or little bit baby food my kids that way my mom fed me about 4 months as well
When they can sit fairly unassisted and open for a spoon.
I started my 4 month old on mashed potatoes m. She’s your kid do what YOU feel is right for your kid. My baby girl is already drinking rice cereal in her bottle with formula and she eats mashed potatoes
6 months. The reason is that I can be detrimental to over all gut and intestinal health life long. Babies that are fed solids too soon have a greater chance of developing issues later in life.
I started at 4 month with small bits of yogurt and puree
My ped told me I can start rice and oatmeal at 3 months. Go with your instincts, you don’t have to do everything their dr says just because they say it. As long as there are no other issues, it’s usually 4 months
6 months and did a combination of BLW and traditional pureed foods
My daughter started with mashed potatoes eggs grits stuff like that at like 2 or 3 months. I was highly nervous but trying to tell her 73 year old grandmother no just didn’t work . She’s just fine but when they’re that small becareful not to over feed. It also helped A LOT with her reflux I was amazed. Old ppl know a lot more than we do
My oldest was 8 months.
Middle was 11 months but had medical issues
My youngest is now 8 months and hasn’t started yet.
I fed my daughter cereal at 4 months and then 5 months I did green beans and still doing them she is 6 months now
I started table food at 8 months.
I skipped all that baby food stuff.
When you think she’s ready no harm in trying her
4 months around about.
It is recommended at 6 mths because that’s when children are able to sit up and support their head, also that is when their digestive system is able to properly digest food. But it isn’t unheard of for mothers to start feeding before 6 mths due to the needs of their child. If your child is ready for solids, they will let you know through their bottle feeding. If they are drinking more bottles than normal and always seems hungry, that is a good indication that you child is ready to start eating solids
I started baby food like stage 1 when my babies were 4 month old. I started rice cereal then add one fruit for few days at a time to see their react or allergic to. Then I did the veggies too. I didn’t do meat til after 6 months old so that way cereal and fruit and veggies easy to settle for babies. They love it and feel so included to eat with us.
