I was a B cup at 11yrs old…had my “training bra” around 8 or 9 ?? (started period at 9)
Ask your daughter if she’d like to try one, proceed accordingly.
If you think she’s ready get her some sports bras I did with my oldest she’s bigger than kids her age I think she was about seven
I have a 16 and 11 year old daughter. When they started developing we started sports bras. My youngest a little earlier at like 6ish. Around 8 ish is when we made it a mandatory part of most out fits… for the record both my girls now wear bigger bras than I do, so maybe it was a little early for some, but in this case they just learn a little bit earlier to wear something they’ll most likely have to wear everyday soon either way. You got this mama, if your comfortable with it she will be. At least that’s how it went in our house.
If shes getting nubs get her a training bra. Girls are Developing do fast. My daughter is 12 in asize 40D already. Hormones they are putting in our foods these days.
I started with sports bras at 6-7 yrs old for my daughter she’s 24yrs old now
Wheb she starts getting boobies. 6 is ridiculous sounds like shes overweight. Maybe work on that instead of bras.
Is she’s already developing at age five then that’s something you need to talk to her pediatrician about. There’s a medical condition called Precocious puberty which is early puberty. Girls shouldn’t start developing until after 8 yrs of age.
My daughter who is now 19 started with those little tank tops with the built in bra. Then graduated to a training bra. It wasn’t so scary for her. Might want to consider those first.
I agree with the above,( check with pediatric) but a sports bra kind of thing is sold for in between ages if that would make her more comfortable
My niece was 6 and wore a little bralette. Not because she was overweight or needed to, she just wanted to!
Maybe try a crop top/ sports bra. If she has a proper bra then she may get picked on a bit when getting changed for pe and feel different from the other kids
6 is a little young to start developing, I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but you might wanna take her to the Dr to make sure she isn’t going threw puberty already.
Buy her sports bras and explain why she needs to wear one
My daughter is 8 years old and also on the healthier side so yea she wears training bras since she has a little fat in the chest area. I feel if there is anything there other than a flat chest than they should wear something to help protect. *My opinion as a mother of a healthy little girl.
I mean If she is truly developing at 6 she needs to see a doctor ASAP…
Undershirts should be sufficient at that age. Two of my daughters have pcos and their hormones are all over the place so it’s best to have her checked out with an endocrinologist if you feel she’s hormonal
You don’t buy bras based on age. You buy your daughter bras based on need and comfort. I bought sports bras to wear under certain styles of shirts. She is 5 yrs old.
Girls can start to develop breast buds as young as 6, a crop top/sports bra is all that is needed at the moment
Yes training bras are fine
I started wearing a bra at 6, started menstruation at 8.
I wasnt overweight at that time!
My daughter is 8 and has wore one for a couple years now go ahead and buy them and let her now
You decide with HER, theres no right or wrong time. Just don’t embarrass her.
I don’t normally comment on posts but reading some of these comments is boiling my blood. Yes girls develop at all different ages. She asked for tips and help not to be told that her daughter is overweight…I’m unbelievably thankful that I don’t have you ladies as moms…talk about causing an eating disorder. All you negative Nancy’s and Karen’s take ur comments and shove them up ur chunky monkey a$$e$!
As for original poster…sports bra/training bra would be perfect for her. May you have a lovely day with your beautiful daughter
She is six absolutely not !!!
If she’s asking for a bra and it’ll make her feel comfortable get her a bra
My daughter is just turned 10 last week but She has been wearing skins from 2018 and she is not complaining
Its about both her and your comfort. Her age doesn’t matter. Her weight doesn’t matter. If you see she’s starting to bud, do what you feel is right. Start off with under shirts or training bras and go from there
Get her a sports bra. At least let her hide her nips
Get an undershirt …for age 6 like a tank or something …to layer
My daughter is heavy set. She is 10 and started what looked like developing young, around 6. Some of it was probably fat, being honest, but I had her wear cammies/tank tops. I just recently bought her training bras that looked more like sports bras. Hope this helps.
My girls are 6/7 both been wearing training bras about a yr or 2 now. If u can see nubs or their nipples thru a shirt Im sure others can too…
My daughter is 7 getting ready to turn 8 She’s not overweight or anything, I bought her starter bras because she is starting to form a little and so she could be used to them.
Leave her be!!! #freethetatas
“ Justice “sells pretty feminine “ sports bras” lightly lined, they were great.
I bought my daughter bras from about 1st/2nd grade on up. Just had a couple in her underwear drawer that fit but never really asked her to wear them. Just slowly got her used to them as apart of her clothes. She would wear one for an hour then rip it off. If she had a tank top with a large side I’d ask her to wear one. Now we’re heading to middle school. I do t push her but highly recommend she wear me to school and can take it off when she gets home just like I do when I come home from work. It takes years to get used to, yet never truly that comfortable. But I wouldn’t want to go to work without one.
Some kids need them at 8
A training bra if she is starting to develop. But make sure she is comfortable with it.
My oldest was 12 my youngest was 9 both started with training bras
If she’s forming, that’s when it’s needed. Age plays no role.
If she devloping now a training bra i dont see any harm my daughter started when she 7. There is no right or wrong. But maybe worth seeing a doctor about it as my daughter was 2 young. Its called prececious puberty. Brain sends signals too early.
You can buy a seamless brunette, my daughter hates seams so that will be our route to start with.
We put tank tops on under shirts when she started showing and then moved to the soft cotton bras, it was easier on her
you can get her a little training bra. every girl develops differently. I was an early bloomer. Just make sure she’s comfortable
You could start with a tank top that has a shelf bra in it. Will give her a little extra coverage. Could help her transition to a trainer.
I just used tank tops for mine when you she was younger I would get the ones the were like spandex there were a little on the fitted kind and it helped her… I know they still sale them at Wal Mart.
I have a 6 yr old. I get her sports bras. She loves them
Tube tops, tank tops work well. my thought is unless she mentions it let her be.
Follow her lead. If she feels ready now, go for it.
I daughter is 8 yrs old and she has been wearing sports bras for 2 years. She was chunkier and u could see she was developing breasts if she had just a shirt. She liked them never had a problem. But I wouldn’t use the actual bra style yet. Dont make her hate them any sooner then she already will.
Maybe you can try a sports bra.
I would either suggest sports bra’s or those tank tops with build in bras to help get adjusted . Then once she’s good and feels comfortable move her up to training bras .
It’s. Not about age it’s about development
If she is self conscious then what ever is most comfortable for her tank tops or sports bras or training bras give her options
Way too young I was 12 when I started wearing one
This is not an age question. It is a development question.
My daughter was 8 when she wore her first training bra. There’s no exact age when to start…if she’s developing breasts then it’s time.
I’d start with a sports bra first.
They should have little sports bras/training bras at any ‘girl’ section in clothing departments. Maybe even sports bras in Juniors. If you think she is developing or just has larger breast for a young girl, you could try that or the little tank tops that have the inserts of cups. Make is easier to dress in and accessorize with too.
When the Training Bra doesn’t fit.
Start her with a sports bra.
My daughter had one at 8 and I started with sports bras every girl is different and these days they develop way faster it seems
Developing at 6??? Lol probably just baby fat
Buy her sports bra to start
sports bra type or the tank tops with built-in bras for hotter weather.
My daughter is 7 and a bit of a bigger girl. I got her sports bras. It was time. When you know you know. If you dont feel comfortable with that get the tank tops that have the built in support
Get her a bra for sure . My daughters started wearing them early as well. If you can see anything through her shirt, it’s time .
My daughter hates sports bras. She prefers those spaghetti straps with those built in bras. She wears them under her shirts.
I get my 7 year old the trainer sports bra styles. She’s been wearing them for a while now.
I let her pick the ones she likes so that she’s comfortable.
Sigh… my daughter was in kindergarten when she started wearing sports bras… I was the same way. I was in 4th grade when I got my first real bra, not a sports one
I am a mother of 3 girls ages 30,18,16 naturally we are big breasted and started to develop early if she is starting to develop u should go ahead and get her one. Its a big deal to her so maybe make it a girls day shopping and lunch.
If she’s forming something get her bras. My girls 12 and has been wearing them for years already.
I got my first bra between kindergarten and first grade
I personally when I was little got boobs really young and I preferred sports bras best because your running and playing
I bought sports bras as soon as my daughter started showing signs of needing one. But we started with the spandex sports bras. And she is now 10 and we are up grading to big girl style.
My daughter is flat as a board, but wanted one around 6. I got her some sports bras
My partners daughter is 8(9 in august) and she has wee sports bra things she likes wearing xx
I’m glad with some the answers my almost 6 year old has two Cloth “bra’s” I was worried it was too young.
Sports bra to start then maybe training one. Thats what I did
Get her started while she doesn’t need them daily so she can get in the habit of wearing one.
As much as bras help (back pain prevention) the also interfere with some muscle development so start if you must with the tank tops with support then use sports bras that aren’t tight under the boob area
Mine is 8. I just ordered her a 12 pack of them. Should have ordered a year ago, honestly. I did sports bras tho, not training bra. She is autistic so I thought it would be more comfortable for her.
My daughter is 7 & recently informed me that she needed a bra. She’s skinny as a rail and absolutely does not need one but I got her some anyways🤷🏼♀️
She doesn’t wear them a lot but does occasionally
My daughter is 12 with almost C’s. She needed one when she was younger but went against it cause they need room to grow and breath. They were always hurting on the growing weeks so even shirts weren’t a thing.
I say wait
My oldest got her first bra in 1st grade. She needed it.
My daughter is 7 and it’s the same. She isn’t really on the bigger side, but you can see that she’s starting to develop. I talked to her about bras, which at her age she thinks is gross, but I explained it to her and we decided that when she turns 8 (which is in less than a month) we will go out together and get her some training bras.
We recently just got our daughter training bras. She will be 7 in June. She has gotten a little chunky and you could definitely tell she needed a bra. She is really good about wearing them and says she feels weird if she forgets to wear one. We just explained to her in the beginning that she needed to wear it. I think she honestly liked the idea because she’s knows that adults wear them every day.
My 6 year old wears sports bras!
I’d offer cloth bras no wires or padding just yet
My daughter is 7 and has sports bras coming out our ears! She was in gymnastics so she wore them quite often to that with the tumbling shorts. She wears one almost every day now, they aren’t tight or restricting. I probably won’t buy her anything padded or with an underwire until she’s MUCH older
We started with training bras around 8 just because you could see it through her shirt. She’s a bigger girl though my 7 year old probably won’t need one until 9 or 10 I hope this helps
My daughter was wearing a bra going into kindergarten
My daughter’s (11, 9, 6) all have some sort of a bra - training/sports bra. Sometimes they wear one sometimes they don’t or they wear a tank top.
My granddaughter is 6 and she has to wear one. Unfortunately these little ones are developing earlier
My daughter was 6 turning 7 when she asked to get a bra she didn’t really need it when she was 6 but now she’s 8 and wears one every day
My daughter started off with tank tops under everything and then moved on to a sports bras.
My daughter is 9. She doesn’t wear bras because she doesn’t need 1 yet. I feel you live your life with the discomfort of bras. I’m not going to start making her wear them when there’s nothing to wear it for. If she was developed earlier she’d be wearing them by now. Every child is different.
3rd grade just a training bra
My daughter just turned 8 and we’ve had to get her bras since September. She going through the 1st phase of puberty in girls
My daughter started wearing sports bras around 8. She is a chunky girl and was becoming self conscious about that part of her. She is now almost 13 and wears at least a C cup. If she wants them, get them. It’s not going to hurt anything.
