They do pull and mess with them when tjey are young
I got mine in 1987 at an outside flea market when I was 11 months old.
25 years later I had my oldest get hers done at 3. No issues.
Youngest was 6 months. No issues. For us it was more traditional than anything.
We are now 33, 10, & 6 and nobody is wearing earrings at all. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Do whatever you feel is right and that’s the right answer. This has been a hot topic since the days of our great grandparents and it won’t change anytime soon. Just be very mindful of who you let Pierce your child if you go that way.

I did it at 4 months. No problems just keep the area clean and rotate the earings the first few weeks.
