Wondering if it is possible for a 6 year old to start a period or have one?

Yes it’s possible! I started on my 9th bday, I’ve got cousins that started at 6/7…and at that early age it can be alarming…just make sure you sit her down and explain to her what’s goin on, so that she has somewhat of an understanding of what is happening to her….and IF she’s in school, let her teacher know, so that she doesn’t get heckled everytime she needs to go check her pad or go pee (seems like it increases during my cycle:woman_facepalming:t4::roll_eyes::sweat_smile:)…you’ve got this momma :muscle:t4::heart:

The youngest girl to get pregnant was 6 years old. Her reproduction organs may be growing faster than other parts of her body.

My nieces were 7 and 10 when they started their menstrual cycles, kids are definitely hitting puberty a lot earlier now.

My daughter started hers at 9 but was in a bra at 8, she’s 21 now and finally caught up with her boob size. Its things like hormones in our food and stuff, that has then developing so early.

Cysts could rupture causing that as well. If like pcos is common I would have them look at that.

I would have a specialist and a consult with an OB/GYN because she could start producing hormones a lot sooner than the average age. It is very possible, I did have a girlfriend whose daughter had the same issues. So definitely consult with specialist.

I started well before my Mom explained it …it scared me to death. I was 9 or 10.
Thank God my adult cousin was there to help me.
I’ve always had period problems…never a correct cycle, major cramping, clots, a hysterectomy at 38.
I sure wish someone would have taken me to a Doctor early on.

I remeber being in school with someone who started them age 7 she was always more developed body wise than the rest of us with more hairy legs and breasts

:speak_no_evil: I hope it’s not her period… :weary: keep us posted on what it turned out to be. so other moms can be in the look out… I can’t believe this … I have 6 year old and i’m not ready for this

My daughter’s Dr told us that a female child should develope breasts first, them within 2 years of that get her period. When those things happen out of order, something is wrong and further testing by the gyno is necessary.

It happen to my mom, it was something with her hormones. They were able to stop it.

If she’s been around someone on their period recently it could have triggered it- when I was young it happened a few times after spending the weekend with older female cousins.

My body tried to start around 8 they gave me meds i didnt start til i was 10

Sounds like very early onset of puberty. Maybe endocrinologist? Just to make sure everything is ok.

i think it is possible, a girl i worked with said she got hers around 7. personally i got mine at 10, immediately after my older sister started hers

My daughter started at 10 and I was like 16 it’s crazy how early our girls are starting these days

It’s technically possible. I talked my girls peds about it because my gmaw started hers at 12, mom at 10, and mine at 8. She said 6 and under needs to get bloodwork and and possibly take medicine to stop it. However, period blood doesn’t come out through the urethra and coukd be something else.I would definitely call and/or go in.

6 is way too young. Follow up with your ped they can advise u what your next step would be. They will probably direct u to another specialty

Could be Early Onset Puberty.
DR. told me with all the processed convenience foods, chemicals and preservatives in food now days, it is becoming very common.

That’s definitely something to talk to a doctor about, don’t go by what you hear on the internet. Go to your family doctor and they will refer you to a specialist if needed and do any tests they feel need done.

My 7 year old has just developed breast buds… very scary!

I started mine at 8 so maybe possible. Every body is different.

Take to pcp and look into precocious puberty.

I was 7/8 when I started mine and my daughters both started at 8/9

My daughter was 9 when she got hers

Mine stared the Halloween I was 11

A few girls in my school were 8 when they got their’s. So it could very well be a rare possibility.

Peeing blood is different t than menstrual blood. Did it come from her urinary tract or from her vagina? As a mom I would have checked to be sure

Wouldn’t the hospital tell you this?

You don’t urinate period blood. If she is urinating blood, then that is a major problem.

Have her pituitary gland checked out.

It could even be a blather infection have her checked out

I was around 9 when mine started.

A question for Dr.s to answer…you dont want to get a bunch of ideas in your head…

My mother started at 7

I started my cycle at 9.

Does she by chance eat or drink a lot of soy products, like soy milk? That has been said to kick start periods, someone in one of my mom groups had that happen to her daughter when she was a 3 year old.

Yes love my friends little girl went through the same they will give her hormones injections to slow it down bless her x

Possibly thyroid or endocrine issues.

I remember in year six my teacher told her she got her period when she was three years old it’s extremely rare but it can happen

If she has peed blood than posbl she has UTI … or kidney stones. Better have full chk up dear

Prayers for her

Yes a period can start at any age

Dina Safar Angelo yiiiii lol

Started mine when I was 9 years old.

My 7 year old has strong body odor and light Pubic hair already. No period. And her top area is already budding. It’s possible. I just pray no period for a while. She just seems to young to handle pads etc.

Is she eating tons of animal products? Sounds like her endocrine system is overwhelmed! Poor little thing.

i’m glad you are getting her checked out. I got my first period at 9 tho so periods can happen super early on :sleepy:

The youngest mother in the world was five when she had a baby… so it’s possible but rare

Aw bless her. I was 11, which was quite young. I find kids these days are very grown up in that way. Bless her x

I was 7 when I started mine…

Yup. It’s all the growth hormones they give the animals they slaughter for food. It affects our bodies too

I know this might be totally out of left field but reports of people who are around the vaxxed experience some side effects due to the process called “shedding”…apparently it was developed that way to help the unvaxxed…just a thought

Yeh my friend started when she was 5

It’s happened before

My daughter was diagnosed with precocious puberty at 6 she is now on hormone injections to prevent early puberty. First signs were strong body odor breast buds… then they checked her bone she with an X-ray.

Has anyone around her had the COVID Vaccine? The stuff off of the vaccine has been causing this type of reaction in some females that are exposed to people that have had the COVID vaccine.

I wish i didn’t know this but my mother started hers when she was 9. If she is starting this early i would think it would mean 1 of 2 things: either she has more eggs than any woman in recorded history or she’ll go through menopause before she turns 40.

My daughter’s friend started in 3rd grade

Started mine at 11.
And there are studies suggesting that the processed foods and hydrogenated oils we consume are causing our youth to develop at younger and younger ages, putting a girls first menstrual cycle between 6 and 9 now.

Is she drinking Walmart milk? It has been known to do this from all the hormones in it.

I got mine at 8 years old.

i was 9 when i got my period.

Definitely needs an ultrasound. No telling what is going on and where blood is coming from. Didnt start my cycle until age 12. Had friends that started at 9 and 10. Never heard of it happening at age 6. Could be kidney or bladder issue.

It could happen. I knew a woman who was fully developed at 8yrs old.
