Would you get a dose of the COVID vaccine while pregnant?

I just found out I’m pregnant after already receiving the first dose of the covid vaccine. Those of you who got the vaccine while pregnant, did it affect you or your baby? After having your baby, were there any underlying conditions that you think were a result of the vaccine?

There’s not enough studies done to make me even think about feeling comfortable enough to do it if I was pregnant

They strongly advice against getting the vaccine while pregnant as there hasn’t been enough testing around pregnancy, I know this as I was in your position a few months ago x

Ask your doctor. Please. Don’t depend on these people for medical advice.

Postpone until after baby comes. Check out mama docter jones vid on youtube

Noooope. I’m pregnant and I told my OB I wasn’t getting it. She said it was fine

Yes protect yourself and your baby

The vaccine hasn’t been out long enough to know the risks. I’m not getting it at all

Talk to a pharmacist or doctor, or both

Definitely not. Its still not fully licensed and people are being monitored for side effects as they are unknown.

Nope. There isn’t enough research. And the only study I heard of had 20% of miscarriage or stillbirth. Ne nor any of my kids will be getting it.

No, the vaccine is an experimental drug that they (the Government) is pushing on the masses. Please don’t put your unborn baby and yourself in harms way.

I would get a medical professionals advice. People here will say anything. Ask your doctor about it and go from there.

Personally big nope for me but they say if you do your baby will have antibodies

Definitely not! I v been told I can’t have it because I’m breastfeeding my son because they don’t know the effects the dose can have on babies or children so there’s no way I would have anything put in my system they are that unsure about…

You should really talk about it in person with your Doctor, even discuss it with a couple of different Doctors, but I wouldn’t consider anyone on social media or some “internet expert” a good source of information on medical advice. Not ever.

I would talk to your doctor but honestly they don’t want pregnant women to get the vaccine so I don’t think I would get it

Not a chance I’d take it pregnant. Won’t even take it when I’m not :woman_shrugging:t2:

I wouldn’t risk it. I’m 38 weeks and my doctor asked me about it. I advised her I didn’t want to take the risk and she agreed with me

Talk to your doctor definitely. Personally I would get it.

My OB says not to get it

I’m a high risk OB patient, I have type 2 diabetes, I see 3 Dr.'s for my pregnancy and I asked all 3 before getting the shot, each advised me to get it, since I’m so high risk, but they also said it was my choice, as there really isn’t alot of studies yet in pregnant women, but I decided to go ahead and get it, I got it during my 2nd trimester and have had no issues. I also got covid during my first few weeks of being pregnant and let me just say it was horrible, I don’t wish that on anyone, especially a pregnant women, I had every symptom, so that also played a factor on my decision to go ahead and get vaccinated. Overall it’s your choice, and I would definitely ask your doctor because everyone is different. Hope this helps.

My obgyn advised me against it because it hasn’t been out long enough to have enough info and research on it. No one fully knows the symptoms or the outlook yet.

My sister did and she is fine

If your pregnant you cant just go to a walk in for it… its got be prescribed and both the doctors in my workplace and my gp wont prescribe it. X

Always talk to your doctor as each provider says differently. My OB strongly advised AGAINST getting it while I’m pregnant (I’m 23 weeks as of tomorrow). She has been in office for over 20 years and said the rate of miscarriage, preterm labor, and stillborn births were significantly higher in patients of hers who had recieved the vaccine. They are doing research on the miscarriage rate due to this vaccine. It has also caused a lot of women to have issues with their cycles too.

I have received both doses of the vaccine and I’m 32 weeks. I got the first dose just a couple days after I got pregnant (didn’t know at the time). I was working as a medical assistant for a family dr at the time and he advised I waited till I was Atleast 12 weeks for the second dose, in the mean time he, himself did extensive research on this topic. The vaccine can’t be passed through the placenta and at the time I was testing people for covid everyday all day. They is studies that show if pregnant woman get covid that some serious health issues happen to the baby, yes there isn’t enough studies out to show what happens to the baby after being born and having the vaccine while pregnant but I made my decision on my job duties and being around it everyday. My OB highly recommended it also because of the serious health issues the baby comes out with. Make your decision on how YOU feel and not he said she said. Do your own research and talk to your OB.

Everyone saying “No” are probably the ones already AGAINST getting the vaccine in the first place! Ask your Dr and get 2nd and 3rd opinion if needed to feel comfortable with your decision :+1:t2:

I was in the same boat… got first dose and found out I was pregnant just before my second dose. I haven’t had any complications and baby is healthy (due end of October). It really comes down to personal preference, but I found it gave me more peace of mind to have it in the long run.

NOT A CHANCE!! I’m not even currently pregnant (hoping to be pregnant with our next baby soon) and I won’t even get it… it hasn’t been out long enough and not enough information on long term effects of the vaccine!! Maybe in a few years I MIGHT consider getting it, but as of now NOPE!!

I got the first before I found out I was pregnant. I opted to wait until after baby comes to get my 2nd. I just still wear my mask when I go out. I did quite a bit of research and decided it wasn’t worth the risk to me.

I’m 26 weeks and waiting till after the baby. Still too many unknowns

If you are willing to be part of the trial to see if there are any effects to the baby, then sure. Be mindful that there have been no trials on this and if your baby is damaged… well, you decided to take that risk.

My sister got first shot in first trimester and second dose in second. No issues.

Yes its recommended for all pregnant women to get it.

I wouldn’t, but that’s me. I’ve seen a uptick of miscarriages and still births from women getting the vaccine while pregnant. Of course there is no proof of any connection to miscarriage and vaccine but it’s kinda put a pause on it for me.

This is a question that’s better left up to you and your doctor, as opposed to random folks on the internet. People either feel very passionately about getting it or very passionately about not getting it. Not a decision you want to make based on a Facebook thread full of strangers.

They really don’t know it may be years before they are sure it’s safe

I got my first before becoming pregnant then got my second dose at 5/6 weeks along I believe.
Side effects were basic, lasted a day. No change in me or baby. Ultrasound and lab work following it confirmed all is good.
I’m now almost 13w, just did the Ultrasound for babys neck and he’s perfect.
I did not need OB permission for it.

No, and it’s a personal decision. People should respect that at the very least, Im sick of the coercion. You can pass the antibodies to the baby if you do, but personally I would not until more studies are done.

Please take it scientists have proven that in your third trimester if you catch covid your likely to loose your baby so please take it I know your not there yet but it will help you out when you get to that stage

They recommend it! So far five pregnant ladies I know have gotten it and gone on to have completely healthy babies!

If you can’t have caffeine or fish or clean a litter box while you’re pregnant, why in the hell would you get a vaccine that isn’t approved by the fda? Yea. I’m judging.
“Not Approved”.
No long term studies.

I was planning on getting it & then found out I was pregnant & cancelled my appointment. I don’t feel like there’s enough research on it to be getting it while I’m pregnant. No after I have the baby I may consider it again, but until then it’s not something I plan on doing.

I wouldn’t even get it not pregnant

I personally wouldn’t. I’m currently pregnant.

You’ve already had the first shot which means the antibodies are already in your system which is now connected to your system. It would be stupid to not get the second shot at this point.
The only reason why people have a “bad” reaction to the second shot is because your immune system has already built some immunity and is now doing its job by telling your body to run a fever, etc.

Don’t ask random, crazy internet moms. Ask your doctor. See what your doctor that you have a rapport with recommends for you. Check the CDC guidelines. Cause you know what probably sucks a lot? Getting covid while pregnant.

I got it during the beginning of my third trimester. Baby and I are perfectly fine. I didn’t have any side effects other than a sore arm. All 3 of the doctors I saw said it was safe and I should totally get it. So I did and I’m glad I did.

No. My dr recommended not getting it.

I got the first shot while pregnant and the second shot after delivery. It can give the baby protection too

Oh how I would love to know what states the doctors that are against it live in. Just a little informal poll would be so interesting.

According to my OBGYN and my kids pediatrician, being pregnant is a reason it’s even more important to get the vaccine to protect you and your baby.
If the person doesn’t have a PhD in a relative field I wouldn’t take their advice with too much weight.

First, ask your doctor. Some doctors endorse the shot, others don’t. I had asked my doctor and she told me she couldn’t recommend a specific timeframe since there have not been enough information to determine the risks throughout pregnancy. Some women had received the vaccine and then found out they were pregnant, others had received the vaccine during the second trimester and others had received it after giving birth. She said it was all personal preference and what I decided. She also said I could sign up to provide information for the trial if and when I decide to get the vaccine. I will also say that having Covid during pregnancy was terrible. I ended up miscarrying during the holidays last year while having Covid. In the end, it’s up to you.

Having a PhD means absolutely nothing when they’re reciting what they’re taught in med school. It’s basically an experimental drug & who knows the long term affects? Not even someone holding a PhD knows. I would recommend being your own advocate & not listening to anyone, no matter how much they get paid.

I’m in Missouri where there is a surge of it right now I heard a nurse from our local hospital talk about taking care of a pregnant woman with covid and it was more heartbreaking to me than some of the other stories i dont know why I guess because well that tiny beautiful life inside her is depending on her to fight is why it really shook me … I say that to say this of course it’s ur choice but if it were me yes I absolutely would get the first and second shot before I risked being in the COVID ward on a vent while pregnant. Good luck and Godbless

My doctor said not to get it since we don’t know the long term effects and I’m 29 weeks pregnant. Now, with that being said, I had a miscarriage when I had Covid the first time, but I was SOO SICK I don’t know how my body could have carried a baby beyond when I miscarried. I was having issues that were really severe. Renal issues, liver function issues and more. They literally told my doctor I had Hep C signs, but thankfully it wasn’t as I’ve never been exposed, never used iv needles, or anything like that. It was terrible. After that serious discussion with my OB, that’s when they advised against it.

I got both doses while pregnant. No issues with my pregnancy or any serious side, due next Tuesday… My son is currently measuring at almost 9 pounds too. Hes a wiggley chunky dude.

My husband and older son are both high risk and i work in hospitality so, in a high risk environment… I wasnt taking any chances, got it as soon as I was eligible.

Got both doses and haven’t had any issues at all so far! 30 weeks now. Midwife told me the complications that can arise from getting covid while pregnant outweighed the alleged risks of the vaccine.

Do it!!! I got the first dose 2 weeks ago at 19weeks gestation and am getting the second dose in 2 weeks time, I’ll be 23 weeks when I get the second dose. No issues with my pregnancy

I think it’s Personal choice, the vaccine came out after I had my baby (even if I did have the opportunity I wouldn’t have gotten it). In fact I waited until I stopped breastfeeding to get it. It wasn’t worth the the risk to me personally. It’s been days since I got it and I can still feel the effects.

I had COVID while pregnant and delivered my baby and went home with him then got sick with all the symptoms. My son was and Is perfectly fine. Kids and infants have never been at risk. My pediatrician said not to even worry about it. With that being said I would never get the shot let alone give to my kids or while pregnant.

I doubt anyone who’s had the vaccine while pregnant would be able to tell if there were any negative affects yet.
It’s most likely to cause issues in early pregnancy where most of the developmental stuff is happening.
Those women who had the vaccine at that stage wouldn’t have given birth yet and even if by some miracle they had I think some of the developmental issues wouldn’t be noticeable until after the first year of life.
The women who had the vaccine later in pregnancy, their babies were already mostly developed at that point.

Personally I wouldn’t trust getting the second injection if you are pregnant, they have no way of knowing the long term affects.

It’s definitely safe and something I would have done if the vaccine was available when I was pregnant. I’d get Moderna or Pfizer though, definitely wouldn’t get the Johnson and Johnson one myself

Ask your doctor. Facebook is not where to get advice for this. Every body, every pregnancy, and every baby is different and unique. Get a professional opinion from someone who sees you personally who know you, your family history, and your medical chart. No one can answer this but YOUR doctor

I got vaccinated while pregnant. I was tired and had the chills for about 4 hours after dose number 2 but that was all. I’ve got a healthy 6 week old boy napping on me as I type! Congrats on the pregnancy!

I’m not taking the vaccine and I definitely would not if I were pregnant. But do your research and talk to some doctors. For me, I don’t trust the lack of long term safety data. Especially for pregnant women.

I definitely wouldn’t considering it came out like 6 months ago, even if a pregnant woman got it on the first day it came out, it’s not even old enough to see if there’s any affects long term , it’s still in clinical trials :woman_shrugging:t3:, that’s my opinion tho

Only thing I had was a sore arm. The next day it was almost gone. No other side effects and baby’s are healthy.
