Nope. I ate them as a kid. I also would beg for cream cheese and olive sandwiches. Bread and butter isn’t bad. If he’s happy and eating then let it be I say
Margarine is very unhealthy would he not eat butter
Leave the kids alone it’s like a bread and butter sandwich
My daughter went through that stage for about 3 or so months too. I don’t see a problem with it. As least they’re eating.
My daughter has ADHD and is extremely picky with her food. She will eat the same thing for weeks at a time then get sick of it and not eat it again for an entire year or 2 kids
As long as he’s eating why not give him what he wants
I mean, if it means that much to your husband, HE can make your son’s meals and he can fight him on eating them if he’d like
At least he’s eating
Some nutrients are better than none
It’s just uncooked toast
Add pickles…my son ate butter and pickles sandwiches for a year for lunch. Didn’t hurt him !
I used to make my daughter cheese and mustard sandwiches for lunch. It was a phase. As long as she was eating I was happy.
My son just wanted chocolate cake but he did eat some vegies the Dr. said let him have it he will get over it, and he did. He was also about that age.
I still eat butter and bread together all the time lol
It’s no different than a piece of buttered toast for breakfast with a couple of pieces of bacon, eggs and a glass of orange juice for breakfast is it?.. other than the bread is not toasted… that is if the other things in his lunchbox are truly healthy as you say they are…
Umm did you tell your husband to take a chill pill?
He could be eating a lot worse
Is this dad a proactive dad? If not then tell him to go F off.
I say let him eat whatever he wants as long as he is happy there are to many other things that you will have to fight about later in life so to your son enjoy when he is an adult he will laugh about this it will be a good memory
Love a good old butter sanger (I live in austraia)…our 2nd eldest us 18 in 3wks…6ft and solid kid…also on the spectrum…he only ate white food for almost 10yrs…never eaten a veggie or a bit of fruit, will also have a full blown melt down over a banana…that’s weird yes…we tool him everywhere freaking out over his diet…scans xrays bloods you name it…he was normal on all levels…still is and has ventured out to light coloured foods now…he us as healthy as an ox and always has been…your boy will be fine…sometimes the relationship with your kid out weights the little fights…
Butter not Margarine it is not good for you
My daughter is like this and she eats everything. But sometimes she just wants a butter sandwich. Your husband he needs to calm down it’s really not the end of the world.
Use real butter. Organic is best. Do a google search on what the ingredients are for the fake butter.
At least feed him real butter and not margarine
It’s like buttered toast just not toasted. Some meals I eat buttered bread.
Let him eat it. It ain’t gonna hurt anything, especially if he’s eating everything else in his lunch!!! I went thro diff kicks as a kid (still do at 37yrs old) My pediatrician gave my mom the best advice, “don’t force her to eat, she’ll eat when she’s hungry and let her eat what she wants. If she wants a bowl of cereal for supper, let her have it.” Hell, I went thro a phase where all I ate (and I really mean ALL I ate) was smores for like 2 months straight. We’re talking 12 smores a day. Didn’t gain weight or anything. My Dr told my mom that my body must’ve been lacking something that the smores gave me. Our bodies will give us cravings based off what we need or are missing. Tell your hubby to shut it.
Not wrong at ALL. Least he’s eating.
Sometimes other kids at the school most probably have sandwiches with only butter or margarine on them. Maybe he swapped a sandwich and likes the taste of butter sandwiches. Don’t flip out about it he is learning to express himself and try different things on his bread.
I’d personally only so a very small butter sandwich. It’s basically toast. If it’s half or more or what he eats then it’s an issue yes
Honestly I used to do that with my son and currently do that with my daughter to help with carb intake. The butter sandwiches have been helping my kiddos put on a little weight since they’re so skinny
I ate peanut butter sandwiches and jam sandwiches.
I say as long as they’re eating . My kids are opposite my daughter eats everything , my son eats nothing but meat .
I think most kids go through these stages, I definitely did - lol I loved just bread and butter. And so do my kids
My daughter calls the Butter Burgers lol and she has finally slowed down on them but it use to be an every day snack, sometimes twice a day. I say let them have it if it’s what they will eat
Use butter not processed margarine and whatever works. My granddaughter at the moment will exist only on pasta and butter with parmesan.
I loooooooooove butter sammiches!! My kids love them too. Sometimes we do not want a sandwich with meat on it. My oldest used to eat ketchup sammiches!! Nothing is wrong with them. At all!!my oldest has always been a very very picky eater, so when he finds little things like that he likes. I give them to him. I would rather him eat those than go without eating at all!!
Who doesn’t like bread and butter? Lol my kids usually request a piece with dinners like spaghetti, soup, etc. I have never called it a “sandwich” but just 1-2 pieces of bread and butter.
My son did the same thing was just a phase, but every now and again he might ask for it.
I was always told by my kids drs let them eat what they are going to eat at least they are eating something
My oldest boy likes mayo sandwiches. He loves butter too! Will just eat a stick of it. I say pick your battles lol
Could it be PICA eating disorder?
I grew up eating a slice of buttered toast for breakfast because I didn’t have much time before school. He is eating other things too…He will be fine (my daughter and little sister had a phase of eating straight butter! Sister ate it straight from the tub and daughter would eat it by the stick if she got ahold of it!) They are ok and eat plenty of things now.
My daughter used to get caught sneaking spoonfuls of it outta the fridge from 6-8 yrs old. She grew out of it. Your fine
There is nothing wrong with feeding your child. Some kids don’t even have bread and butter. You aren’t doing anything wrong. If that’s what he likes that’s what he likes
Feed him butter not margarine!! Margarine is terrible for him!
Patti Duggan ok , that is just not something a normal kid would think of eating🤪, lol
He’ll be okay. Probably just a phase.
My 3 year old is currently on the “toast with just butter” phase too, my 6 year old went through it too… just like most phases, it will pass.
My daughter is 4 and somehow prefers butter sandwiches lol even if I offer to put spreads in it or even ham or chicken. She’d literally just rather have butter sandwiches
I used to love margarine as a kid so…. It’s a phase I guess.
Hes eating other things. Let him.
As long as there’s more in the meal I don’t see the issue.
Why are you a grown person calling it sammich?
My brother ate ketchup sandwich’s for 3 years. He will be fine lol
Heck yes! Now I want one! Does your hubby put butter on his toast or pancakes…?! How is it any different… just sayin…
Bread and butter very common once apon a time all meals were served with butter or when margarine replaced it with bread
It’s no different than toast, it’s just not toasted! It’s gross but is there really an argument there? Lol
Bread and butter with a banana is nice, banana eaten seperate…
I had a phase where I only wanted miracle whip sandwiches in my lunch.
My grandma would make me margarine and jelly sandwiches everyday after school. I loved it. Nothing wrong with it, it’s just a phase. My mom told me I went through a phase where for entire month all I would eat was mac n cheese.
U mean butter Bread
I’m with the husband.
Sounds like buttered bread to me! Another phase
I think everyone has eaten butter on bread. I do, and even with a drizzle of sugar.
I eat sandwiches like that but I use the buttery margarine it tastes so good its not bad tell your husband let him eat what he wants to eat
Leave him be …my son lived on ketchup sandwiches sometimes they grow out of it. But he ate all his veggies too so .I would not worry about it…silly things to fight over. Now he is a healthy 26 year old .who is a pro at karate
Use real butter! Margarine is all chemicals.
Atleast his eating something my daughter won’t even eat bread on the best of days but will eat toast with nuttlex on it
My son through a stage where he would only eat barque sandwiches bread and barque sauce and that was it
I used to eat a cheese and mayonnaise sandwich every day after kindergarten. Literally plain white wonder bread, a Kraft cheese slice and miracle whip. I survived
Well if you had toasted the bread he wouldn’t be yelling. Tell him to take a chill pill
I think its fine to be honest. As long as he is having other things to help keep him healthy and growing. Your partner sounds like a bit of an idiot. I used to eat peanut butter out of the jar as a child. Or sugar toast. Bit I ate everything else so my parents never had a problem with it. My son absolutely loves cheese but he tries everything else (my son seems to have issues with certain textures).
Nothing wrong with a plain old butty.
I quite like it with very fresh bread or a roll and butter. I’m 53.
I personally love it and I’m 60 yrs young lol and when I’m hospitalized that is my number one request lol
Its soooo normal! Kids go through stages like this ALL THE TIME! Dont worry too much. At least it’s actual food hes eating!
It’s not going to hurt him. He’s eatting other foods.
He sounds fine. Maybe just switch it out for organic butter so good and healthy!
As soon as your husband starts making your kids’ lunches is when he can complain. I’m a father of 5 kids. For most of their lives (that’s about 20 years) my wife has taken care of school lunches. I’m doing most of it for our youngest. She’s 12 now. You know what I make her for lunch? Whatever I think she’ll eat. The last thing her teachers need is my kid being ornery because she didn’t eat any lunch.
I love peanut butter and butter sandwiches… Add peanut butter and have him try that. Adds protein and whatever
My papa (90yo) would always make them for lunch when I was little.
It’s not all that weird I used to eat sandwiches with thousand island dressing and shredded cheese on it
Your husband can fuck off straight up.
That’s terrible parenting. Terrible.
Id just say in moderation, and also I wouldnt use margin since it’s only 1 ingredient away from Plastic, use like Tillamook butter or % Amish butter…
He needs to relax. Does he yell at you often tho? Nothing wrong with butter sammies. I often make spaghetti & only put butter in them. I would use real butter instead of margarine. Margarine is full of bad stuff. My daughter used to swipe the butter off the cabinet or a cold stick out of the fridge and eat it. I think it’d a phase but…i also feel like the things we crave are our bodies way of telling us we’re deficient in something. Look up craving butter and see what vitamins or minerals it says. I know that if you crave chocolate you’re deficient in Magnesium & Milk of course is Vit D, Calcium. Good luck.
Its just two pieces of toast, I’d probably switch to butter though so there’s more in it and maybe do a nutritional shake with it if he’ll drink one? It wont kill him.
Bread and butter is one of my favs. As long as he is eating veggies. Who care that he wants a bread and butter sandwich. Hell how many of us eat buttered toast for breakfast… Your husband needs to lay off.
I ate buttered bread as a kid.
Kids do go thru stagesIf it is very very picky can be sign of mental illness Was the case with 2 of my grandkids But like I said has to be severe
What’s the difference in this and buttered toast?? Especially since he eats other stuff too I don’t see the issue
All kids go through stages, I have an autistic child and boy oh boy, he’s fussy
Thankfully myself, and both of my kids absolutely love margarine samys. I use a spread that is a mixture of butter and marg, so there’s a little more nutrients in it
at least he is eating
Bread and butter its only BREAD AND EFFING BUTTER (margarine) I love it, my kids love it, whats his problem? Youre doing great mama xx
It’s just butter bread. Let the kid be
Butter would be better unless there’s a dairy issue. But he will be fine if the rest of lunch is full of nutrients.
When I told my doctor that my son was barely eating he told me if all he wants to eat is cookies, then feed him cookies. He will eventually start eating more things
If he’s eating the other healthier things in his lunch too, what’s the big deal? It’s like having bead and butter on the side of your meal
As a mom you pick your battles, so this is one of them, he is eating and that’s not worse then snacking all day or eating fast food or whatever other kids eat sometimes.
Me son was like this and I was told by the doctor and health visitor that if he’s eating something plus fruit and veg then not to worry, so no it’s not weird
It’s better then the ramen noodles my kid has to eat at least once a day lol I think he’s good mama
I’m on your side! I eat them too from time to time
To me no different than toast with butter on it or margarine. I used to worry to death about my oldest son when he was little. He was so picky, did not eat any vegetables or fruits. I took him to the doctor, the doctor did bloodwork, told me he was healthy and to let him be. He is now 34 years old and very fit/healthy.
He is still very picky, never grew out of it. Lol
My son is little and is so picky too! However I still try him with stuff (most of the time he spits it out) but honestly if there’s anything he’ll eat I would allow it. He does eat fruits veggies yogurts but very hard for lunch and dinner … I’m happy with whatever he’s willing to eat. Even if sometimes it’s a few snacks. I try for meals sometimes I get lucky other times it’s just the opposite
Who cares?! Your child is fed. When my daughter went on adhd meds she lost 5 lbs in a month (she started at 35 and went to 30 lbs) and her dr said that since she loves peanut butter let her eat it from a spoon. She is 10 and we are happy she is finally over 50 lbs.
