Can you microwave a bottle to warm it up?

No. It takes the nutrients out of the bottle

Nope, it will leave hot spots. I would just put them in a pot of hot water the times I used them.

I always heard it was a big no-no since it can heat unevenly and burn the baby during the meal. We just bought an electric kettle, boiled water and and put it in a yeti with the bottle for a minute or two. It’s usually too hot and we add an ice cube :slightly_smiling_face:

If you’re formula feeding then just leave the distilled water on the counter and it will already be warm when they drink it.

What I used to do was microwave water in a bowl and stick the bottle in the hot water for a few minutes to take the chill out

I’m just saying if you do shake that sucker GOOD and test it on your wrist

If it’s formula, I wouldn’t warm it up. The only reason I warmed it up is because my daughter was first on breast milk in a bottle (that had to be warmed because of frozen + pumping).

Never microwave a bottle!

No microwave. Bottle warmer or run it under warm water. The formula doesn’t really need to be warm. It’s baby preference. I buy jugs of water and they are kept outside the fridge, room temp.

I do it. Just shake it good and disburse the heat evenly and test before giving baby :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Microwave using a milky meter it is specifically designed to let you know when the temperature is correct using a microwave

Never warm plastic bottles

I did just not long and make sure to shake bottle good

Nope. We use bottled water at room temp. No warming up. And never in a microwave.

Just boil water and put the bottle it in that to sit for a while to warm it without whatever the microwave puts off… healthiest safest way to go as coocoo as it sounds lol

I used to put hot water in a cup and warm it that way I’m not a fan of the microwave

It’s fine. I did it for a while because I thought it was supposed to be warm but now just use room temperature. Just put it in for like 5 second intervals until you figure out the right timing for your bottles and shake good.

Nuke the water in cup. Not the bottle. Safer this way. Then just mix everything in the bottle. But test to make sure it’s not that hot before giving to baby.

I did for my first but then for my other two I just left the water out at room temperature and added the powder in as it was needed. Made night feedings easier

I personally would not. A microwave creates hot spots that can burn your baby’s mouth. I would suggest a bottle warmer, and some brands go for as little as $10 or you can find one on marketplace. I have the Advent brand for $20 and it takes about 3 minutes to fully warm a bottle. You could also microwave a bowl of water then place the mixed bottle in the bowl for a few minutes.

Be careful it cause heat pockets that can burn the baby. I’d personally always used a bottle warmer. And make sure I mixed it up good and tested it on the back of my wrist.

I got this as a gift and it was the best thing ever. It worked so good and the milk was the perfect temp.

Honestly it is dangerous to microwave anything in plastic. Plastic has a lot of toxins that are released. Use something else to warm

Pediatricians and on-the-bottle directions say never to use the microwave…it is too dangerous for the infant. Not only can there be too hot areas of formula or breast milk, but the bottles can emit some chemicals from the plastic that you sure don’t want your baby to be exposed to (after it is heated). That is also why they say to always hand wash bottles and never put them in dishwashers (too hot). Better safe then sorry with your child, right?! <3

My first was formula fed and I used a coffee pot (new never had coffee in it) to heat up water and also kept a cold bottle of water in the fridge mixed together for the perfect tempt.

I use a bottle warmer, works great

I just use room temperature water. So much quicker and easier. Pack the formula in the bottle, add water shake and feed lol I did breast feed for the first 2 weeks and always pumped right before the baby ate. But I know this is not ideal for full time breasting mom’s cause they pump so often.

I use my Keurig to get the hot water then I mix it with some cold to get the perfect temp. :grimacing:

No, use warm water in a cup to bottle in or a bottle warmer

I did with my oldest cause I didn’t know any better, but I always shook it up really well afterwards. Now I put the bottle in a cup of hot water and heat it that way

Crock pot- keep lid on it when not using it so it stays warm. Just pop in a bottle (or more) and in a few minutes, it’s warm! Can keep it on all day and add water once or twice.

I do! But not with the nipple on only for like 20 seconds and then I shake it and test it on my arm before giving it to him

Buy a tea pot and measuring cup! Pour boiled water in the measuring cup, bam! I had to microwave once or twice and it gets hot really fast so i would pass

I didn’t microwave, I just always used warm tap water. I never bought distilled water or anything like that.

I have. But you HAVE to shake it a lot because there are hot spots in it

Yes as long as you shake it, check it and test it. I did 11 years ago and she’s a fit healthy little girl x

No because of the plastic of the bottle. Warm it up in a different cup then pour into bottle. They have those cool baby bottle warmers that are safe to use. My sister had one for her baby last year.

Yes just check it before giving it to your baby, and put the formula in after you warm it.

We have never. I’ve heard from pediatricians that it can create “hot pockets” in the formula. Buy a cheap bottle warmer. Ours was maybe 20 bucks on amazon.

You shouldn’t because the heat is unevenly distributed and can create hot spots. You can microwave a cup of water though to heat the bottle in though! Pretty sure all the formula cans say not to microwave as well.

We drink our tap water, so we would just use hot water from the tap for the bottles. But if we were elsewhere, we would warm the water up and then mix it together.

good hot bowl of water and let it sit to take the chill off

^^^I was told the same thing. I microwave a big cup of water and then place the bottle into the cup to warm it up instead. Since we dont have a bottle warmer.

To my knowledge its not a good idea because of the hot pockets and just like our food loses nutrients. Big cup water and place the water in the cup. Bottle warmer works wonders too if its in your budget

It’s not environmentally friendly but I use breast milk storage bags. I pre make the formula, measure it out, bag it. So when I need it I run it under warm water for 8-10 seconds and give to baby. Super fast, and easy for those exhausting nights when you can hardly function

I did with my oldest. WIC would only give me the concentrated cans that had to be mixed and refrigerated. 10 to 15 seconds at a time only to take the chill off. My youngest used to powder, so room temp bottle water was used

No. It degrades the formula, it can release roxuns from the plastic and it can have hot spots.

You can microwave the water is a separate, microwave safe container and use to make the formula in the bottle.

I used room temperature bottled water

I did if I needed it quickly or there weren’t other options available. Make sure you shake it up and test it on your arm first though.

For both of my girls I warmed the water in the microwave before adding formula.

Also, i never warmed any of my 4 kids formula.

I just always ran the bottle under the hot water to heat the bottle of formula. Never got too hot and was perfect temp.

NO! It even says not to microwave them on the tin. A bowl of hot water to warm it if need be otherwise make a fresh one and let cool

Nope.
It can create hot spots which can burn the baby.

I used to get a pan of water and heat it up for a bottle. I always shook it too and tested it and never had a problem.

Nope. Put in a glass or mug before just be sure to check

I would run hot water and put the bottle of milk in the hot water.

Yep  have with mine since day dot and never had an issue

No. And i wouldn’t recommend it. If you have a water kettle or boiler all you need is hot water either inside or to heat from the outside

I heated the water in the microwave, then added the powder. 3 girls later… no issues!

I use my Keurig and fill a coffee cup with water and stick the bottle in the coffee cup

I just microwaved the bottle of water before adding formula. Works just fine and the powder dissolves easier

No instead warm it under hot running water. Otherwise u might burn baby cause it all heats differently in the bottle

No- that causes hot spots and is super dangerous. Warm bottle in a glass of hot water… or get baby used to room temp bottles

I have, just not too long and shake it up then test it first, but after my daughter was about a month old I did not warm it at all just room temperature

I always warm the water in the microwave before adding formula. I only do 10-15 seconds depending on how big the bottle is

Put warm water in a mug and put the bottle inside it to warm up

It is dangerous because the formula could bet too hot. Better to heat some water in bowl and let the bottle sit in it to warm up or better yet use warm tap water to mix it.

No more than a few seconds.

Yes I always did when it’s done put the top on shake it up and test on your wrist.

no dont microwave… hot tap or boil the kettle and sit it in a jug for a minute or 2 stir and test (shaking bottles can trap air causing colic and reflux issues)

I use my Keurieg machine run hot water in a mug and put the bottle in to warm

I heated the water then added powder.

yep! you learn how long you need to put it in for to be the exact temperature😊 we microwaved either before or after adding the formula and all our friends did the same, much quicker and less screaming time for bubs😊

Make sure the formula you are using is able to be heated. I never heated formula but I was told when I switched formula that the nutramigen couldn’t b heated.

You never microwave a bottle of water and especially one for your infant! It creates hot pockets of the liquid in the bottle due to uneven heating patterns.

I just kept water bottles at room temp and made room temp bottles.

We did. Just make sure you shake the bottle really well after you heat it and test it on your wrist.

Nope. Nope nope nope. Too inconsistent and you risk burning the baby’s mouth with a hot spot.

I filled the bottles with water and would let them sit to get to room temperature, then when I needed them, I would add the formula.

Yes you can warm in microwave, just do a wrist test before giving to baby…

I microwaved tap water in a separate container, then put the bottle in the hot water for 3 minutes. Perfect every time.

Baby Breeza will do all of that for you. Best baby item I ever invested in. Would not recommend heating water in the mirowave.

I used a bottle warmer.

Warm the water up first then put formula in when your done warming the water

Yes! Just make sure and check it before you give it to the baby.

I have heated the water for a few seconds but never the formula itself.

Warm water for 10 seconds then add formula

I usually do like 10-15 seconds in a glass bottle.

Bottle warmers are cheap and easier.

I used to microwave bottles once in a while. Don’t leave it in too long and shake it very well afterwards to avoid hotspots. My daughter was always fine

Room temperature r tap water warm never microwaved - I sat in large glass of warm - hot water for minute r two n both kids never had any issues,

I would never microwave formula or breast milk. Run bottle or bag under hot water until desired temp is met.

I personally would not. A microwave creates hot spots that can burn your baby’s mouth. I would suggest a bottle warmer, and some brands go for as little as $10 or you can find one on marketplace. Stick it in warm water to warm it up. With the microwave you can risk burning baby.

For 4oz 10seconds & shake for 20 sec.

I personally wouldn’t. Not that it’s unhealthy, because it’s not, but microwaves actually kills some of the nutrients in the formula.
Let it sit in hot water for a couple mins or use a bottle warmer.

I do! But just the water never the formula. Heat for like 15 seconds. Then add formula!
