Did I take this too far?

Yes maybe you over reacted a bit about your own hair but at the end of the day it’s your hair and no one should be “mad at you” about it. It will grow back.

I would never go that far, my oldest used to get it all the time in grade school. I sat there for hours combing her hair after a treatment. She has gorgeous thick blonde. I would never shave their heads.

An extreme reaction but it’s your hair so your choice. It wasn’t the only choice you had so I see their point as to why would you shave your head when there’s an alternative treatment (and you didn’t even know if you had it). My head itches just reading this so mind over matter sometimes.

For next time, pop some tea tree oil into your family shampoo bottle.

Probably. But its your head and your kids. Hair grows back and lice is a bitch lol.

They shouldn’t be mad at you for it because it’s your hair & theirs will grow back quick. But I’d never shave my head to get rid of lice there’s a lot of other ways to treat it

Just a touch too far, yes babe you did😳 it naybe the quickest but not the only treatment!!

Your Body , well hair, your choice

Did u burn down ur house too? Just to be sure there were nun left? :woman_facepalming: yes u 100% over did it, there were at least 20 other things u could of done first

Shampoo from the drugstore would have done the trick I think.

Just reading this has my head itching.

Head lice is the clue is in the title. You donot have to fumigate your home only launder their bedding use a treatment on everyone in the household hair of which there is many follow the directions on the bottle use a nit comb to get rid of any eggs and chill. Kids get nits because when they play they get there heads close together. Occupational hazard as a teacher. Head lice, worms etc all occur in the life of a happy healthy clean growing child.

I mean just use lotion and brush through with conditioner to make sure…shaving off everyone’s hair is a but ott

Also even the smallest bit of hair they can cling to…so unless you have completely got rid of all the hair, they could still be there!

For the record…shaving your hair doesn’t get rid of lice. Treating it with lice shampoo gets rid of it.

The lice clinic would have been the best! They can then determine if the head being shaved is needed. I did the lice clinic when my daughter brought it home and we have had an issue in many years

I think you should’ve at least tried to get rid of it before shaving everyone’s heads. That seems rather extreme. I know someone that shaved their kids head as a last resort because his hair was long and thick and they just couldn’t get rid of them but they tried a few treatments first.

As a momma who had to deal with lice, no you did not take it too far.

Is this a troll post… I don’t think someone is this dumb :upside_down_face:

I would have had someone check for lice before shaving my head but I also would have treated Everyone and then gone from there

Next time get vammouse it works!!!it’s like salt moose it dissolves them…

You took it a bit far but it’s your hair they need to get over themselves

Next time try listerine.

I have dealt with lice, and I never once thought about shaving my kids hair nor mine lol their are good lice products and lice remedies I would’ve tried before buzzing my own head but we all deal with situations differently

Unless u shaved it to the scalp with a razor. It can still live.

Yep too far and ineffective. Lol

You don’t need to shave anyone’s head and actually they can live off belly button hair or leg hair for a bit so you’d have to shave your whole body. Next time get a nitty gritty and some Hedrin!

No that was your choice. There are plenty of women who shave their heads on a regular basis…

You did overreact a bit but it’s your hair and you can do what you like with it

My oldest daughter kept bringing lice home she has** long long dark Indian hair. She then gave it to her brother and sister. I never once thought it shave their head that’s just cruel since my kids love their hair. I bought the flea/ lice spray for carpets and did constant head checks and did the lice treatments multiple times as well as sitting for 3+hours picking and combing all of them out with coconut oil and tea tree oil just to make sure there were none left behind to cause any harm. And shaving your own head yea… that’s on you if you like it but I wouldn’t do that to mine I’d just do the treatment the same as for the children. they sell like swirled wire brushes then put them out and the eggs

Nope. I would done the same damn thing. Lice are NO JOKE. Those suckers are the devil to get rid of.

maybe, I would have just used the shampoo first & if there was still a problem, then shaving the hair off would be next

Lestorine or lice shampoo work just as good

I totally get it. The feeling of having them in your hair is awful but… IT’S YOUR HAIR. Personally, I would have tried to treat it first and if it didn’t work, then go that route. But, they shouldn’t be mad at you, hair grows back and it isn’t theirs.

You really didn’t need to shave your head and the the kids. There are other way’s to treat it

Lice really isn’t difficult to get rid of. You don’t ever NEED to resort to shaving the hair off. But the bigger question is…do you like your shaved head? If so, who cares.

It’s just hair. It will grow back. I would have treated first, but it’s YOUR hair. Let them be mad🤷‍♀️ they’ll get over it.

Your hair , your choice . They are being childish . They have no say so over what you do with your body .

Nope you did what you think was right. They can fuck off. Your choice not theirs

I think this is the definition of taking it too far :grimacing::rofl::rofl:

WOW. Just wow overboard

Oh gods what have you done!!! It’s hair what are you crazy acting like it’ll grow back psssshht.

Omg lol. This can’t be real

Did you also do something to your scalp to ensure it’ll never grow back? If not, then you did nothing wrong. Even if you had…
It’s your body, your hair, your choice, not theirs.

Maybe you could run for president, that way every time theres a small disturbance you can save time and just drop a nuke,----- overkill much?

I think you overreacted a bit. Thank goodness, hair grows back -
Now, clean the house, wash the sheets, and all will be fine.
Include garlic in your diet - they will smell it in your hair follicles and not want to take up residence.

Is this post real? You’re old enough to have school aged children? And a fiancé?you’re old enough to do what you please with your hair?

Unless they wanted to treat and inspect everyone’s heads than their opinion doesn’t matter.

Yes because you could have simply just treated the hair and combed it out and in 2 weeks redone it so yes you did🤷🏼‍♀️ but hair grows back thankfully, it’s easier on boys to have shaved heads though, idk if you had long hair or not but it grows back, just know it’s really easy to treat if if it’s not infested with lice

If that’s how you feel was the best way to take care of it that’s your business. Your hair will grow back let them be mad🤷🏽‍♀️ in the future (because I know in some places lice is a big problem in public school I’ve dealt with it also) lice free has worked for me the first time every time.

In my honest opinion I think you went a little bit too far however people deal with lice in different ways. When my boys were younger we fought it for 2 years straight. I finally had enough and buzzed all three of my boys hair. We got all their stuffed animals and anything pillows like that and put it in trash bags for 2 weeks. That worked for us.
They also have a lice clinic. I mean it’s kind of expensive but it also works.

Yea… you definitely overreacted…Lice isn’t the plague and it’s pretty easy to get rid of l, especially if you just got it and haven’t let it spread all over your home.

Fuck them. Its your hair to begin with and iv never had them but I know people who have and sometimes thats the last resort! I have phobias of any bugs that cause itching(fleas, bedbugs, mosquitos, lice) so I probably would have said screw it and shaved it off to be sure too!!

I think you might have. Lol Your poor husband and mom. But its okay. Hair grows back. Just look up remedies and treatments for next time? I hope you didnt have long hair? I loove my long hair.

Hun you did what you felt necessary. Your hair will grow back. They can deal.

Wow! My mom was abusive like that too. Not only is it abusive, it’s unnecessary and lazy. Get treatment and combs.

It’s literally just hair and you did what would get rid of it the fastest… it will grow back, you’re just mama bear and wanted to help

Your hair honey. I buzzed mine off before due to a friend dying of cancer. Hair grows back but hard feelings can hurt a long time.
By the way lice sucks blood out of scalp. I have never had them and thank goodness my children has not. Use to be the health manager for 21 head start centers and learned that often the Moroccan oil on scalp often will prevent them as it puts a layer on scalp which prevents them from sucking out the blood.

I got rid of an infestation just by going through the hair w a metal lice comb for a couple hours then soaking the hair in the spray the comb came w, just in case. So I’d say you went overboard, but it’s just hair and grows back so who cares.

I would say so there was no need to do that

Yes,but it’s your head

I’ve shaved mine off before the look on my family’s face was hilarious I’ve let it grow back but I’m so tempted to do it again ! :joy::muscle:

I mean they literally have lice treatment. No way in hell would I shave off my hair or my kids hair just because it’s “easier”. Also you have to completely de-lice everything with fabric in your house, not just your hair.

When my girls brought it, they gave it to my son who was 1. I had to shave him cause he wouldn’t sit still long enough for me to take them out, broke my heart cause he hated it, he cried holding his head saying hair

I don’t think you are. The last time I had lice my family tried everything mayonnaise the comb the shampoo that comes from the store nothing was working so we kept cutting it it went from half my chest to my shoulders to eventually just shaving it but definitely clean and disenfect your clippers that you used to shave your guys head

Understandable but yes I’d say a little extreme. My brother bought it home before and it sucked but there’s remedies and now, you still need to wash sheets, coats, and I remember my vacuuming the sofa and mattresses as well. It is natural to feel itchy but it could’ve been your mind playing tricks on you

I would try a lot of methods before completely shaving. Yes you took it too far but it’s your own head of hair that you can choose what to do with. As for your sons, were they okay with their head being shaved? I know boys and men typically have short hair, doesn’t mean they want to be shaved bald. So hopefully they were okay with it, next time offer different methods.

Lol I’m sorry this cracked me up :joy: girl its your hair…but I say next time just get some lice shampoo and do the treatment …then use tea tree oil to keep them away :ok_hand: works like a charm:green_heart:

It’s your hair, so… But in the future a product called Vammouse kills them fast. Best product I have seen so far. We tried so many when my daughter had lice and it a ax s the only product that worked.

Ummmm it’s YOUR head, not theirs! There is no guarantee combing will get them, and it doesn’t take just one time. It can take MONTHS. You did what was best for YOU. They can suck it up

Do you feel better? That’s what matters. Hair grows back. I prolly would’ve done the same I believe

Your head ,your decision

Ummm u didn’t need to shave your head . I mean the boys maybe

Ya sure did Britney :joy::joy::joy:

They actually say that shaving your hair isn’t a solution to get rid of lice. Granted your hair, your choice. Wouldn’t have been my choice!

This got to be a joke submission. Someone just wants to read the comments on this crazy post or these are made up by this page! There’s several ways to rid lice besides shaving your hair off. Yes you went to far! If this post is legit. And if it is how did your sons feel about having to shave off there hair?? Personally I’d never do that to my son because his hair took so long to grow and is his choice. Idk this one has me like :grimacing::thinking::flushed:

As someone who has dealt with it twice I think if I got it again I’d probably shave my head, or at least to a shorter style to make it easier!! The shampoos didnt work very well for me, it took weeks of combing out and treatments and washing bedding and clothes, to me I think short hair would be a lot less stressful.

Ummmm shaving your boys hair cool but for you there’s products for that !!!

Nope. Those nasty critters are hard to get rid of. You were thorough and made sure they were gone. If you feel better then do you. I bet you do- no more having to worry about creepy crawlers. It’s just hair it will grow back. On the plus side the hair that grows back will be healthier than ever!

Its your hair! Do what you want with it!

It’s just hair, it’ll grow back and it’s your head so if they’re upset that’s a them problem not a you problem🤷‍♀️ your hair doesn’t define who you are.

No you don’t have to shave your head go to the store get the medicine wash their hair I’ve never shaved my kids hair

Yes, it’s your hair but I think you did go too far, especially without consulting with your fiancé who has to look at you. Mom, not so much. What if your fiancé doesn’t find bald women attractive? It’d be different if you were going bald but you just shaved it yourself when there are products to help that.

What? Lol. You probably didn’t have to shave it all off but oh well if you did. It will grow back. I just don’t understand why they are mad lol

Hahahaaaa … you’re funny! A little extreme, but hey it’s your head.

No u didn’t. Don’t listen to anyone on this post that says u did. Shaving hair is the best way to get rid of lice

It’s not that hard to treat…. No way I’d shave our heads …. That’s a lazy way of treating it

It’s your hair so who cares nd who cares why you did it. I shaved my head off because someone promised me money :woman_shrugging:t2: I only got a total of $25 but no regrets.

Alicia Ransley and ? It’s her head
No one should care. They weren’t mad at her for shaving the kids hair they’re mad at her for shaving HER head regardless of her reasoning they shouldn’t care so much

I went through hell. 4 girls with long hair, and they got it. I finally found away to get rid of them once and for all. Worked everytime, even ony grandkids

It’s your head so do what you want but tip for next time cuz it’ll probably happen again just straighten everyone’s hair and treat it with the nix stuff.

It’s your choice how to deal with it. I have 2 boys , when they were in school and lice went around , they never got it, I kept them buzzed on # 1 ! Are they so mad they’ve offered to take them so you can clean , are they helping you clean ? Tell them when it’s their problem AND they are helping with a solution they an have can have opinion. Otherwise BUTT OUT !

No cuz you got to do what you got to do

Waaaay to far. Shave your own head sure but your kids, no wonder your fiancé is angry at you you didn’t see what he thought you just did.
