Do babies born at 37 weeks need the NICU?

Of they over 5 lbs they dont need to go to nicu

My last baby was 36+6 and no nicu

2 of my babies where born 8 weeks early and did not have to go to the NICU

No I had babies at 36 weeks no nicu and I had babies at 32 weeks and needed nicu. I have 3 nicu babies

I had my second at 37 weeks. She was small 5lbs 8 oz but otherwise healthy

My little one was born at 35w5days. She was not put in Nicu as her APGA score was normal and she just made the kg requirements. She was 2,1kg

If you actually think about it 40 weeks is 10 months 36 is 9 months between those two set of weeks is considered full term

Boys are lazy girls do better at 37 weeks than boys. I worked newborn nursery

My twins were in the nicu bec they were born at 35 and 5 days. Upside, they were over 7lbs each. They only spent 3 days there then a step down.

My daughters were born at 37 and 38 weeks and neither one went to the NICU.

Every baby and situation is different. My friend’s 34 weeker did no NICU time and my 37 weeker did a week.

They try to get to 36 weeks gestation so NICU is less likely to be needed.

Everything should be fine at 37 weeks.? I’m an RN many babies are born at 37 weeks including my 2 kids.

At 38 weeks my baby was 6lbs 8oz. 38 weeks, although 2 weeks shy of 40, is considered full term.

Babies born after 34-35 are safe and need no NICU until they are under weight or have any other complications

I was told the with gestational that it’s an automatic NICU for the baby.

It just depends I had my son at 37 weeks. He only had to be in the NICU for 5 days. He was a full baby though he was 7lbs 3ounces 19inches long.

37 weeks is considered term! But it all depends on how the baby is doing

I had my twins at 32 weeks. They were in the NICU for 2 weeks. I had my other daughter at 38 weeks and we were home in 2 days.

There is no way of knowing until the baby is born. Too many factors involved. Full term babies have needed NICU.

I have fibroids and both of my children were delivered at 37 weeks via cesarean section. We went home after 3 days. They are 6 and 1.

They gave me steroids just in case for her lungs she came on her own at 35 and 6 days (maternal trauma at 34 weeks) and her Apgar score was perfect :clap:

4 of my grands were born a month early & only 1 had to stay a week. No NICU but under billi lights medicine & care is so advanced now.

Even if it s full them it might have to go to Nick because it might have trouble regulating its blood sugar so they take them to keep an eye on the baby but other wise problem not

All babies will be different… I had baby #5 at 32 weeks and she was fine, no issues. She was 5lb 8oz and she was a c-section, we went home in the normal 3 days.

Two of my babies was born at 34 weeks, two were born at 36 weeks and none stayed in NICU after being born.

All depends on of the baby needs additional care at birth . It’s Neonatal ICU (ICU for babies) wether they are premature or not.

Yes. My daughter was born at 37 weeks weighing 4lbs 1oz she was in the nicu for feeds it took her 2.5 weeks.

They should be keeping track of weight with biophysical ultrasounds

Depends on risks to baby, and how baby is and how small they are but they are classed as full term at 37, 2 of mine were 37 weeks and didn’t need icu

Nope I have 2 37 week babies and they didn’t need nicu… on did have jaundice and needed the light for about 2-3 days but that’s it

If the babies weight tenp eating and breathing all normal you’ll go home in a day or two

I’ve had 2 babies at 36 weeks and 1 was in the nicu one wasn’t.

The biggest concern with premature deliveries is lung development. 37 is typically ok to schedule delivery of baby.

So sorry no advice to give both my kids got evicted one induced than emergency c the next scheduled c because of the 1st.

It all depends on baby. They should give you a shot at some point for lung development to help.
