How do you pronounce Mailily?

‘-ai’ typically makes the ‘-ay’ sound. So May-lilly.

So y’all don’t know how to pronounce it but you’re going to give it to your child so that people have trouble pronouncing it her entire life? Smart.

MIALILY would be better

Mail illy or in Spanish MyLilly.

At first glance I thought this was my daughters name misspelled.

She’s Malillany.
Ma lee ya nee.
The two ll’s are pronounced as a Y in Spanish.

Aubrey is a cute name . Use that .

May-Lilly
It’s a pretty name but she’s going to have a really hard time in school learning to spell it. People are going to butcher it.
Why not name her May Lilly as in first and middle name (if that’s the way it’s supposed to be pronounced)?

You can name her whatever you want but please understand that she will spend her whole life correcting people on the pronunciation, spelling, if it’s really a name, and so on. My middle name is spelled one letter different from the traditional spelling of a common name and I’ve spent my life saying “oh, you’ve misspelled it”’ “no, really, that’s how it’s spelled”, “no, it’s pronounced Michelle, it’s just spelled with a Y”. “No it’s not MYchelle, it’s just Michelle with a y”.

I read it as ‘my’ at a glance. My-lily

Y’all are silly! Example. If you want to call your daughter Brandy, don’t name her Courvoisier.

My daughter is 17. Her name is Makalynn. Ma-kay-lynn. And she always gets called Ma-ka-lynn. But I love her name! However you want to spell it. It’s beautiful

All I’m seeing is “mail”

It looks like Mail-ily Mai is usually pronounced (My). It looks like commenters think you want it to be May-Lily. No matter what it isn’t difficult to say so spell it however you want and everyone will learn her name.

My girl her name mallory we call malily

Dont do this to your child :woman_facepalming:

How is it supposed to be pronounced, regardless of spelling? Just curious.

Do not name your child something that she will have to spend the rest of her life correcting and explaining

I’m seeing my lily or may lily.

I would say May-Lilly if i seen this name! The “Mai” would incline me to say May

Wait a minute you want to name her something u can’t say

Either my lilly or may lilly.
If it’s “May” then I would hyphen it so that it’s less confusing and she’s not always correcting everyone. If not a fan of hyphening, then I would 100% spell it how it is said (May or My)

I’d think it’s my-lily

May-lily and name her what you want - my husband and I made up a name for our daughter and people always get it wrong but she survived🙄

I see it as “My-lily”

Name her something else :joy:

I read this Mail-ily.

Now imagine naming your child something you literally had to make a post about on Facebook to learn to say. NOW imagine the life she’s going to have constantly listening to people mispronouncing it and having to correct them with spelling and pronunciation. Do her a favor and pick a different name.

My lily.
That spelling is confusing to my eye, though.

Use google translate or google dictionary, they’ll speak it out for you

If you can’t pronounce it… you shouldn’t be giving it to your kid…lol

It could be pronounced either may or my so I would change up the spelling depending on which way you want it pronounced.

Cillian hates his cause They call him killer or teacher even Ceillian even Charolette everybody puts her o after l not before it tell really quick N or S

Why give you’re child a name that is going to be confusing their entire life

It’s never a good idea to give a child a name that no one can spell or pronounce. Later in life, the child will hate their name and change it.
Think of another name.

When I read it I read it as ‘Mail-Lily’ in my head

For the rest of her life she will be asked “…and how to spell that?” Please do not do that to your child.

How to pronounce Mailley | HowToPronounce.com closest I could find to the name but itd be along the lines of (may) (lilly) but I honestly like the way its pronounced on this website (may) (lee) also, if you love the name go for it, but consider the child later in life also, because we all grow up eventually lol.

Mail like Male ily. My opinion. It has mail like a letter

My granddaughter just turned 11 yesterday. Her name is very Irish Aibhlinn. She Absolutely loves her name and while some may not know how to correctly pronounce it at first(Ave leen) she patiently helps them until they “get it”

Looks like “May-Lily.”

Think about 1st grade when you try to ‘sound it out’ if you cant easily explain it, don’t make it weird. Might be fun for you, but for a child, it can be REALLY frustrating when no one says your name correctly.

I work with someone with that name… she pronounces it Muh-lily

I would automatically say Millie or miley, like miley Cyrus

I’d pronounce that name like male-ill-i :grimacing: I’m curious to know how it’s supposed to be pronounced once you get everyone’s opinions.

MAIL-lily. It’ll happen.

I know it supposed to be May-Lilly but I immediately said it like may-lee

I said my-lily when I read it.

Don’t pick a name y’all can’t agree on let alone pronounce :joy::joy::joy:

Mai-Lily. It’s a beautiful name

My-lily to me but with my accent it’ll come out Mah-lily and, honestly, it just doesn’t sound as pretty. Lily May sounds prettier but :woman_shrugging: that’s just me

I would say mail- ily

My cousin just named her daughter something similar kaialily or maybe spelled differently

Mai-lily(may-lily)… I added a hyphen to both my daughters names on their birth certificate papers. Ana-Leyse (ahhna lease) & Ellie-Ann

A name that will forever be mispronounced…if you are okay with that, go for it…if it angers you, pick something else

There is no “correct” way. Just preference.

Either My Lily or Mae Lily

Pronounced like May. My niece’s name is Maille (pronounced Maylee). It’s of Celtic-Gaelic origin.

I’m not big into weird spellings people are never going to know how to pronounce your kid’s name if you’re going to name your child you should name it something that people can at least pronounce cuz I don’t even understand what that name is

May-Lilly or Mae-Lilly.

“My” Lilly”. I have a Kai(Kaila), everyone calls her Kayla. Drives me nuts. So Mai is my to me.

may Lilly… I honestly hate having a name nobody can pronounce it was horrible when i was a kid and it’d gotten better but still don’t like it

Ummmm. If you dont know how to pronounce it jow do you think everyone else will. It will always be different and difficult and she will always have to correct people. I’m speaking from experience. I’m guessing it will be
“mail-ily” but everyone is different.

May or My depending who says it. I like plain lily or Lilia

“May-Lilly”, be prepared for your mispronunciation of your little one’s name either way. Also, if you can’t agree on how to pronounce it yourself don’t be upset when others cannot either.
