Remember you have to wash everything she has worn especially things she has worn to school or where ever she may have gotten
them from. All her stuffed animals she has played with even those she hasn’t. My grandson had a child in his 1st grade class that kept coming back to school and giving lice to everyone else over and over. So you may have been getting rid of them but she may just keep getting them from the child that had them in the first place from hanging her coat/sweater in the same closet. The whole family has to be treated not just her. It is a long process but it can be done go to your pharmacist and he should tell you exactly what you need to do. Or look on line. All the advice you have been given here may work but remember they may not be in just her hair. You’ve got to look at the things she has been around like her bedding, her pillow, her blanket her toys everything and you, your spouse, other children have to make sure none of you have them if so everything you do for her you have to do for yourself and them.
Buy vamoose it’s at Walmart and it guarantees to get rid of everything with out having to comb anything out
Do you have a naughty knits near you? A little pricey but they treat & guarantee
Tea tree oil
Depending how old she is, you could dye her hair
You have to wash everything in the house espically the beddling and keep washing her hair as long as u see it in her hair.
There is a comb that takes batteries and it sends a small current through the hair and fries the nits and live lice that have hatched out. We gave these out to families at the school I worked at of they were having trouble.
My mom used to use rubbing alcohol. Put her head upside down over the tub and cover her face with a rag, dump the rubbing alcohol over her entire head and hair then wrap it in plastic wrap. Leave in as long as you can then rise. Kills them instantly. It’s not fun but def worka
There are lice clinics you can go to that are guaranteed to get rid of them the first time. That’s what we did when mine caught it from school. They’re a little expensive but totally worth it.
I had this a lot while i was inside school and my mom didn’t have a lot of money, use mayonnaise, over night wrapped my hair in a grocery bag, then washed out the mayonnaise in the morning then blow dried my hair over a towel or in the sink. Then of course my friends mom used coke like the drink and got rid of hers that way. I have thick hair and heavy. It worked like a charm. Plus the mayonnaise makes the hair really heathy too. I like the way it felt. It smelled. It was cheap and really easy to use
Shave her head ! It will grow back
My youngest is the same for hair and I literally had to take a few strands at a time and comb through. It took forever and then 3 days later I did it again. I treated everything. 1 week after treating her hair I treated it again incase I missed any eggs. It’s a lot of work.
Idk why the linen went into dryer on high heat- you have to suffocate them for atleast 48hrs in an airtight bag, or wash with hot water vinegar abd dry again. Then keep in a bag for 24hrs.
Our local health dept said they’re calling some lice “superbugs”. And typical lice treatments that have worked for the past 30 plus years are not. They told me to pour rubbing alcohol over the head, let sit on hair for 15 mins, wash it out and condition well to easily use the comb.
Dont underestimate the carpet powder and the lice furniture spray. Use those. They will make a huge difference.
The use of tea tree oil in your shampoo will help repel them- but only so much.
Curly thick hair is hard with lice. After hair treatment the use of a really good, softening conditioner is really important. It will help with the comb. And using the comb is essential.
It’s hard with really young kids they give you a hard time. If you can, make it a fun " girl time" where you do nails, facials, let her do your hair with the comb.
Don’t know where you’re located, but look for a company that specializes in natural lice removal. They’ll eliminate the problem!!
Mayonnaise works rub in hair real good all the way to scalp then put on shower cap leave on over night. Then wash it out next day. Then use lice comb to get out dead lice. Then 7 days latter do it again in case u miss any eggs. And don’t forget to do all bedding and stuffed animals. And spray couches and chairs. They have the spray at Wal-Mart to use on that stuff. But put stuff animal’s in bag for 2 weeks.
Apple cider vinegar. Or one of those cones that zaps them
Same with my daughter we battled it for 2 months tried everything. Then mayonaise finally worked. Put it on saran wrap and shower cap left it over night.
give a repeat treatment to kill new hatchers
Easy. Olive oil rub it into her hair and scalp. Put a shower cap on her head overnight. Then wash it out in the morning with a metal lice comb.
Mayo when I got them when I was a kid it’s the only thing that worked put in her hair and put a bag or shower cap over her hair it suffocated them and they die
Call the dr get a prescription for splice
Look up the mouthwash one it worked when I was a kid
Mayonnaise on her hair, then cover it with shower cap! Sleep on it then wash out next day. Smothers them
Super lice? You can try just a normal clinic appointment. Have you cleaned the carpet, stuffed animals, and Furniture? I recently used licefreee on my 4 year old. It’s just a spray you leave in until dry. I’ve only had to use it once. Supposedly it kills nits. But I also saturate her curly hair in curling cream in hopes it will suffocate any more. Gone a week so far without seeing any resurfacing.
… the good news is that lice only like clean hair. So you are not dirty people
Lice don’t like hairspray.
Once you’ve gotten rid of them, perhaps consider a spritz of hairspray on her hairbrush every morning when brushing her hair to deter future ones. Something really soft like Ellenet (I’m in Canada) that just brushes out at the end of the day. It’s more expensive but not sticky or stiff like other brands can be.
Mayo never worked for my daughters long hair. I used the normal lice treatment then o coated her hair in conditioner and covered her head overnight then used the metal nit comb. After that, i put Tea Tree Oil and Peppermint Oil in a spray bottle of water and in her shampoo. That helps keep them off.
Licefree spray from walmart
baby oil. Leave in over nighy(towel on her pillow) and only shampoo out. Do it day 1, 2, 4, 7 and 14. Always works for us
Vamousse or licefreeee spray or conditioning treatment
My friend has done this a few times and it works 100% and doesn’t damage the hair. Comoletely saturate it with Cetaphil face wash and blow it dry. It takes a long time to dry. Leave for 24 hours and wash out. It kills the lice and knits. No need to comb through. They fall out on their own. Be sure to wash all bedding and clothes and spray everything down with lice spray.
I heard that you can use cococola on your hair… Leave in for a while… Im not exactly sure how long… Then wash it.
Mayo in her hair over night worked wonders for my two year old. I had the same problem…her hair is extremely curly and it took forever til I tried the Mayo
I had girls with long curly hair. Had to even throw their bed pillows away. Also spray furniture. YEARS ago people did use mayo. Have to saturate good though. Should smother them.
use voseen shapoo that will keep them away xx
I had to do my daughters hair strand by strand with my finger nails. And use olive oil and a shower cap overnight first. My daughter had thick waist length blonde hair …I cut it too her shoulders before I did it. She cried for weeks!
You need a prescription. Do not listen to the I did this and it worked story… because it didnt work. No home remedies will once you’ve moved your infestation stage. You need a script. Very easily obtained.
How old is she? If she’s old enough color it. They will die from that.
After you’ve done sprays flat ironing it is sure to do away with them
I have heard if u comb permanent wave solution through their hair, it will kill them
Old fashioned way. Go through each piece of hair and pull that nit off. Put it in tape to trap it in case its still alive. Yes it will take several hours or more. Your neck will ache , your back will ache. You will need to take breaks but its really the only way. Get rid of ALL THE NITS. Good luck
Don’t forget to treat the car seat
Take equal parts of blue Listerine vinager and rubbing alcohol saturate hair put it up in a bun let stay in over night wash and repeat every 3 days til you see no new eggs. The alcohol dehydrates the bugs and eggs the vinager loosens glue on eggs and Listerine is a deterrent for more.
Take her to the doctors and they can give stuff for it
Go to a professional lice removal place. They will get rid of in first try.
Put tea tree oil in her shampoo too to keep her from getting again…you can actually buy tea tree oil shampooo
Tea tree oil, citronella and lavender in a shampoo. Leave in hair for a good while with shower cap. Keep in all shampoo to wash daily with to keep them at bay.
Also pure white vinegar on hair to release nits
Hair conditioner, don’t wash it out until you are done
Use the fairy tales comb and mix your coconut oil with tea tree oil. The fairy tail spray, shampoo and conditioner Combo work but it’s expensive. If you can’t afford that for several months to make sure it doesn’t come back just do the coconut oil with tea tree oil and the tea tree mint shampoo and conditioner from Walmart, the equate brand. Spray everything she has with tea tree oil and water. Just be careful if you have pets as high levels of tea tree oil can be toxic
I used tea tree oil and mixed it with little bit of water in spray bottle, and sprayed directly in scalp couple times a day, did mayo masks at night, used apple cider vinegar and also sprayed directly on scalp to dry out the eggs, and combed hair at least 2x a day. I used Lice Free treatment every 3 days and a couple other different shampoos and eventually got them killed in a little over a month and kept treating after that justvin case. It was a pain and expensive!
If you have carpet and probably in the carpet that’s why they won’t go away
Mayo with a walmart bag over it for hours.
May need to see a doctor, also these besties can hid out in blankets, furniture, other children, daycare centers, hats scarfs, etc. If you kill them on her and she is re exposed she will get them again.
Go to the doctor. They might be resistant to the over the counter treatments.
I have ridiculous thick curly long hair, freshman year of high school, I got lice. My mom got up every morning with me and completely soaked my head in Olive oil. Ley that soak into her hair for about an hour or so every morning. The olive oil will dehydrate and dry out the lice, then wash out with dish soap mixture with tea tree shampoo and conditioner. Then comb out hair while it’s wet. Much easier than when it’s dry! We did this for about a week and every night we did an extra brush out and combed out lice from my hair. I have been using tea tree essential oils in all my shampoo & conditioner (about 10 drops per big bottle) I have never had lice since!
Go to a doctor and get prescription I wasted tons of money and nothing else would work and it was so easy to use 3 girls plus me
Make sure you spray the car interior. Most people don’t think of it. Hope it helps
Wrap mattresses in plastic. Pillows and stuff animals into garbage bags for like a week. Carpets, couches. You could get everything out of her hair but they could be on something else.
The best way is to use cooking oil and tea tree oil!!! You take a squirt bottle fill it up with vegetable oil then add 10 drops per ounce of oil. Then saturate her hair with it then kind of just squeeze the oil out some, then after that put a shower cap over her hair then find a scarf and also wrap it over her head to help keep the oil from dripping, leave this on for 24 hours then after 24 hours. Comb her hair out it will slide right out. Then after that then wash her hair good in dish liquid. Then condition her hair after that then repeat it again in few days to make sure it’s gone
Original Listerine, not blue as it can dye hair. Put in a spray bottle and soak her head, let dry and then wash out with coconut shampoo and conditioner or tea tree. You can also use Coconut oil and apple cider vinegar to kill them. You can put a small amount of coconut oil to keep them out of her hair every day or put a few drops of tea tree oil in your shampoo bottles.
Lemon juice or I have heard kerosene works.
The good old fashion way!! I had long, thick ,curly hair that attracted them suckered like crazy… Nobody understands unless you have the same type of hair… mayonnaise!!! Coat her hair in mayo and put it in a shower cap overnight…Mayonnaise suffocates the lice and helps remove nits easier… You also want to use coconut in her hair afterwards like a conditioner… Lice don’t like the smell…
Mayo and shower cap. Then rinse , blow dry and comb. Most important thing is to get the eggs. One hatched abc mates , they spread
Be sure to treat all cloth toys, stuffed animals, blankets, owned or shared. Consider a short layered or"pixie" haircut. Short hair is easier to maintain. Do NOT let her carry any hairbrush, comb, hairclips, etc to school. Kids love to “share” everything, including … I beat a relative’s i infestation by taking my steam iron and pressing every piece of her bedding. Good luck!
Vaseline and a shower cap. Also make sure you’re treating your entire house (furniture, bedding, rugs) and not just her head.
Gold bond ones youve gotten rid of them. Makes it to where they cant stick in the hair.
My parents used kerosene when we had lice growing up
Maybe one of her friends keeps infecting her. That’s what happened to my daughter I was ready to shave her beautiful long hair when she saw a commercial fo Nix she begged me to try it so I did and because we moved she didn’t get them again. Unfortunately you’ve tried everything and all that chemical is not good for her. Try the tea tree oil and put a cap on her head for the night hopefully you can comb a lot out and then wash her hair
I would make sure I cleaned everything real good. It might help if you cut some of her hair off
Thick curly hair here too and we got rid of it with this and a good quality fine lice comb in one go (did the recall threatment 10 days after ) its silicone not poison, it suffocates them and their eggs
Did you clean your furniture and floors as well as the bed linens.
White vinegar an olive oil will treat hair
Lysol everything before an after dryer an color safe bleach
Have her pediatrician call in a prescription strength lice medication
*** IVERMECTIN FROM TRACTOR SUPPLY***
push entire contents of syringe into a bottle of cheap conditioner like V05, shake well. Cover hair roots to tips with mixture. Leave on for 20-30 minutes. Wash out. Makes 2-4 treatments.
This kills both lice and nits.
This was recommended by the school nurse after a school wide breakout. It costs less than $5 and it’s the same as the $150 prescription.
Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, use at your own discretion.
That being said this method has been a godsend. I’ve done this 3 times over the past 4 years to 4 girls ages 7-15 with no issues.
Garnier fructis leave in condition put lather her head up with it before bed and put a shower cap on her hair for bed the next morning wash it out it will suffocate everything in her hair
I had 4 kids and 1 caught it at school and brought it home. I did all treatments a few times. Got so desperate I doused the girls hair and boys shaved heads in mayo with a shower cap. Supposed to suffocate them or something. Also. Threw all pillows away, bagged up all toys and bedding after washing and dry heat several times for 30 days (it was winter) finally after reassembling my home they were finally gone. Hope this helps
Hair gel smothers them
Get a prescription from your doctor for lice shampoo. It is much stronger than that over the counter stuff.
Please please do not use a fire accelerant on your child’s head.
Kerosene in shampoo. Just a tablespoon of kerosene. Those OTC shampoos do not work.Basicly learned from an old Grandmother.

Please do not put Kerosene on your childs hair…
Lamp, rat tail comb, hair clips, white sheet, hard surface. This is the only 100% way. I don’t care what anyone tells you to put on your little girls head. You need to comb, and pick, and comb, comb and pick. Start on one side by her ear and work your way around to the other side. Clip it together once you’ve done that section. Go by every strand of hair. It will take hours. Make sure she pees first and if she needs breaks I suggest using hair ties to section the hair. Go over her whole head at least twice. Then check her head every day while you fix her hair for school. No chemicals needed. Just pick pick pick. My daughter got lice from school. This is the only way to be 100%.
Kerosene oh no never would i do that can u image some walking by with a lit cig child would be burnedto death …mayo works too
Robicomb. No chemicals, no mess, no washing of sheets. Easy, cheap, reusable. Game changer
I used mayo. Put it all over her head then put shower cap for at least 2 hrs. Then wash her hair a few times. Get a regular comb and start looking. When your done white vinegar a cap full every two weeks. We did this for our daughter. None of the other stuff doesn’t work for curly hair.
Very cheap trick put mayo on child’s head and comb out. Very fine tooth comb. Lice at nits cannot hold on to hair they fall out.
Mayo or peanut butter & a shower cap over night or for an entire day. All clothes, all towels, curtains, all toys/stuffed animals must be bagged up for a month & cleaned atleast 3 times. Wash all bedding in your house daily with high heat. Never use kerosene.

Along with mayo be sure u have a magnifying glass so u can see up close
Anonymous Advice
I used a flat iron on my daughter’s hair after treatment because heat also kills them and it made the combing process so much easier.
Dog shampoo. I know it sounds crazy but it works.
My daughter had long blond beautiful hair. She begged me not to cut it. It took 8 days to remove all the nits. The lice outbreak at the school was so bad my neighbor was putting Crisco and her girls hair and put in shower caps on them. They had extremely beautiful long black hair. She would wash their hair in the morning and repeat the Crisco at night. The school bus was the place of re-infestation. The lice shampoo helps and the combing helps. I pulled each strand of hair that had Nits outside on a blanket during the day. Bought a black light to use at night. After a while I started Counting the hairs I pulled out. It was well over 300. That baby was so lucky I didn’t cut her hair because we were both in tears 4/8 days
Have you tried a mixture of coconut oil and Coca-Cola? Wrapping it for the night in the morning combing through it with the lice comb and then washing it. Combing it again after?
My mom use to but mayo in my hair and I would sleep with it in overnight with a shower cap on. It was not fun but if definitely did the trick overnight.
Flea shampoo works.
