Good luck shug
Speak with a lactation professional.
Pump at least every 2-3 hours, 30 minutes if you can stand it. Give it time and congratulate yourself . At nighttime, try not to let more than 6 hours pass between pumps since prolactin is highest at night and controls milk production. (Ex: pump at 10pm and 3-4am).
There’s a lot happening with you & baby, so protect your mental health. Rest @ night, Eat well, & stay hydrated (not overboard bc increased water intake has no effect on milk production…).

My friend drinks body Armour. Have you tried the pump that fits into your bra?? Another friend has great luck with it.
Eat it’s for breakfast or any time you want too. Drink one or two beers a day. Good brand
You have to move milk to make milk. The less you pump or express the less you will make the next day.

This vitamin worked great for me my milk overflowed while baby was in nicu
Make sure you are taking in a lot of food !! That’s just as important as drinking water !! If you don’t eat enough your milk will slow or even stop stress is a big suppressor of milk dehydrated and lack of enough nutrition super important ps !! Don’t take Benadryl!! It will dry your milk up fun fast allergy Medican and some time birth control will mess it the Brest feeding pill … have you tried pumping while holding baby or sitting next to a crying baby I couldn’t never pump unless their was a crying baby or I was holding baby or had baby blanket that smelled like baby don’t ask my why it just worked like that lol

My son was born two months early, too. He also had intestinal surgery at one day old. I pumped every two hours religiously. The most I ever got was 2oz and that was on prescribed Reglan. Cookies, oatmeal, fenugreek, etc are BS in my opinion. Your baby will be fine on formula. Do what you can but it’s not worth your mental health to stress out over this.

Following because I need the tips too
Barley. Add it to shakes, water, soup, salad etc. You can buy it at whole foods or natural grocers
Fenugreek was recommended to me by my midwife it worked, I could never express tho on all 4 of my children.
I like the different things from milky momma. They have some good supplements you can take. They also have brownies, cookies, things you can add to smoothies, or water. I hear good things about sunflower lecithin too. Definitely talk to a lactation consultant too. They have some great advice and can give you other ideas to help increase your supply.

I used this stuff and it was amazing. I was able to pump anywhere from 4-8 ounces even after nursing my youngest. I had so much milk stocked up it was amazing!!!

Milk production works on supply and demand, the milk is extracted your body makes more, increase your pump session to every 2-3 hours and try power pumping.

Eat. Calories in. Calories out. Only way I produced a lot was to eat like my husband. Food is fuel.

Oatmeal is super cheap and healthy way to get more milk going. I add fruit in it to make it worth eating but I see a improvement with my supply
Consistency… don’t skip pump sessions… add in a few extra sessions if you can

I was in this situation on April 5, 2021. My baby was born at 29 weeks 6 days. The nicu nurse told me drink body armour. Water and oatmeal helps too.
Try pumping every 2 hours. Add another bottle of water. Try to eat oats.

Some women end up stop producing
Most likely you’re going to need an electric pump. Pump EVERY 2 hours and completely empty your breast each session. Make sure you are drinking enough water each day. Last but not least, try not to stress. That can affect your milk supply too.
Help a mama out and respond anonymously on our forum. How to increase milk supply?
Supply and demand. More latching and more nursing baby, more milk is produced.
And an ounce after a feeding is great!.
You can also use a hakka on the non nursing breast while nursing.

Check he’s latching properly with his chin dug in rather than his nose. Don’t stress about pumping. You won’t get the same output as actually feeding. You don’t need as much milk as you would formula. Look at a picture of him before feeding and relax. Make sure your drinking plenty and eating properly.

Sooooo many options:
Power pumping
Try various supplements with fenugreek and without since there is a rare chance you can have a reverse affect with fenugreek.
Avoid things with peppermint oil (mint foods too)
Drink beer if you like it. Brewers yeast promotes supply.
Pump every 2-3 hours the first 3 months until supply is established if you are not nursing.
If nursing, pump at least 20 minutes after nursing to promote extra production.
Highest milk production is between 2am and 4am. Try to have 1 pump between then.
Stay hydrated, if you are dehydrated your supply will suffer.
There a lot more you can do… Lol

I could never pump a lot, but I was able to successfully nurse all four of my babies for a year or more. I just think the the pump was not as effective as they were…

Put baby to breast often. Dont feed the clock. It’s only been an hour, but baby is acting hungry? Put him on the boob. It’s all supply and demand. Your breasts are never truly empty. Pumping is not a indicator of supply. How many wet and dirty diapers is the best indicator for how much baby is getting at the breast. If you can pump and ounce after baby has nurses then that’s great! Babies are more efficient at removing milk than pumps.

Everyone says that the armor drinks help… I couldn’t drink them because of the coconut water in them but I did Gatorade and I definitely saw a difference in my supply with my twins… They also have teas, powdered mixes and cookies that helps… Try Walmart, target, and if course Amazon
Body Armors, lots of water, make sure you’re eating enough calories, make sure you feed as much as you can or try power pumping. Also be careful of anything with fenugreek in it because while it can help some women increase their milk supply it can also dry up your supply. Good luck!
The more you nurse , the more milk you will
Produce . Keep it up and be patient . It’s not an easy thing to do but worth it .

Baby gets more from physical nursing than what the amount labeled on a pump will tell you. My son would eat until he was full but the couple times I did pump I would get barely any so I know that it was definitely not the same amount he was actually getting. I was told drink a beer or something with high yeast content and it boosts the supply and it worked. He turned two in July and I stopped breastfeeding around then once I got pregnant

Pumping has nothing to do with how much the baby is actually getting so don’t go solely on that. The more you nurse the more your supply will come in. Keep hydrated and try pumping after a warm shower or even just hand express while in the shower.
Pumping is an indication of supply. And if he’s latching and staying latched for 15 minutes and this is pumping after nursing. I say you’re fine.
Are you pumping after feeding? Had had low supply for my first and didn’t understand about pumping. Wish I’d known more. Also I had lactation cookies, and lactation tea which helped for future pregnancies.
Well my husband says that if they are actively played with they produce

Walmart sales snacks in the infants department that is supposed to help with that. Idk know the name.
Add barley to your diet, it helps promote better lactation… or drink a guineas beer.
Try feeding from one side then after pump the other. Times tippee electric pump in amazing food I have tried several and find this is the best (between my first born and my now baby) been expressing breast feeding for 5minths now
Are you exclusively expressing? Some women just don’t take to a pump as well as others, your baby will always remove more milk than a pump. If you’re exclusively expressing then look into power pumping

Pumps aren’t an accurate indication of supply if he’s having enough wet diapers per day then he’s getting enough milk from the top

Did you let him cluster feed. Mine always latched withing an hr and was literally on the boom 10+ hrs . You can still do this at 2 weeks let him latch as much as possible and yoir body should be triggered to produce more.
Best of luck momma .
Don’t be discouraged it can be hard but you go this.
Some doctors say drinking a beer will work. i dunno. I didn’t breastfeed at all.
Supposedly, the more he eats, the more you’ll produce. Try not to get uptight about it. That won’t help. Drink a lot of fluids.
15 min a side is enough if he is letting go after he nurses pump for another 15 min per side and drink lots of water
Lots & lots of fluids… and when you think you’ve had enough, drink more
Drink TONS of water & eat TONS of oatmeal.
Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. If he’s latching, having appropriate wet and dirty diapers, and growing then he is getting enough. A pump is not as effective as baby at getting milk out. Be sure you are using the correct size flange (generally nipple diameter in millimeters plus 4, nipple only not whole areola) as well. If you are still having trouble with pumping, you can try power pumping once a day.

He is getting enough for his age. Keep nursing often & drink lots of water. The more you nurse, the more you will produce. Talk to your doctor about adding “Brewers yeast” to your diet if you are still concerned
Make sure you drink plenty of fluid
I would suggest seeing a lactation specialist. But massaging the boob, stimulating the nipple, I think there is a type f icecream that helps too, I was told just too keep pumping and it would come in more, hang in there mama
Help a mama out and respond anonymously on our forum. How to increase milk supply?
It is normal to have a slacker boob as you call it, (I had it too i exclusively breast fed) best thing to do is stick to your schedule, drink water or anything with electrolyte and keep your calorie intake. Also make sure you have the correct flange size for your pumps
How much you pump has nothing to do with how much you can produce. Try nursing your baby to increase supply.
I had this same issue too, I drank a lot of water but also Body Armor drinks! The Body Armor drinks actually made me produce way more milk from both breasts! (Coconut milk)
Increase in water. Oatmeal. If you pump do a power pump once a day. Body armor drinks . Latch as often as possible.
Latch, latch, latch!
Supply and demand.
The more baby latches, the more it increases.
What makes you think you need to increase your supply?
Water. Increase calories.
Nurse or pump every 3 hours around the clock. If you are nursing, pump for 10 min after each feeding. Power pump once a day
Malt. Hops. Coconut milk. Pump and repeat. Lol hydrate! My Dr suggested a beer a day.
Drink a ton of water. I drink probably 1.5 gallons a day!

Take fenugreek. Once a day and your milk will increase. My breast feeding specialist gave me that advice and it works wonderful and is natural. You will smell slightly of maple syrup when taking it.
This stuff worked amazing for me!!! I would pump every 2 hours after nursing and would still get 4–6 ounces each time. Definitely made me have a stock pile in the freezer for when I needed someone to watch her for appointments.
Lotsa liquids especially broth
Have a glass of beer! Oatmeal too
Drinking Body armor and eating oatmeal has helped mine.
Drink LOTS of water, when you think you’ve had enough, drink more!
Oats, milo, pumping every chance you get, put baby on the boob when you’re not pumping, magnesium really helps aswell
Fenugreek. But you have to take more than the bottle says. Bottle is just for like daily value. I was told to take 4 pills 3x a day and that worked for me.
Also lactation cookies from Walmart.
Drink lots of water and feed/pump frequently!

Latch baby every 30 mins to a few hours. Randomly is fine too as long as there is a demand you can produce more and make sure you drink lots of water.

For me personally. Ginger ale doubled my supply! I was getting 9-12oz per side every 2 hours. It was hell but it was worth it. I had a whole deep freezer full by 6 months.
Nurse as much as possible and skin to skin
Have a small glass of wine, relax and let the baby cry. Milk will come.

I pumped with my daughter e been though she wasn’t able to drink my milk, when she after a bottle I manually pumped and got 4-8oz every time. And sometimes it did a 2oz here or there to up my supply. I then donated it to a momma who adopted a baby girl. But since I was donating I wasn’t drinking any beer but it did help withmy other kids.
Be aware that fenugreek is known to have the opposite effect for lots of women.

Pump lots and latch baby before to get it going

The only proven way to increase supply is to remove milk more frequently. So latch or pump on a schedule more frequently than you do now. If you’re pumping do not go beyond 20 minutes per session or you risk nipplw trauma. Around a week of a consistent schedule, you’ll see an increase.

Constant stimulation, you need to produce more prolactin, the hormone that makes milk. LC here. Pump for 7-9 days. Will need to know how old baby is and how frequently mom is emptying breasts. Please pm me if you need more personalized plan

Mix one body armor and coconut milk. Did awesome for me.
My lactation consultant told me to pump EVERY 2 hours for 20 minutes regardless of what I got… totally worked… a little to well… I fed my baby and donated 1000 ounces a month for six months. I took me over a year to fully dry up.
Good luck!
Pumping…but also just putting him on your breast will encourage milk flow, as will looking at pictures of him or smelling things that smell of him. Make sure you eat well and drink lots.
Pump every 2-3 hrs around the clock.
Very warm shower. Massages to breast in shower. Any stimulation increases milk supply. Frequently pumping. Lots of drinking lots of water. Eat a well nourishing diet.
I’ve heard beer & raspberry tea help. Drinking like a fish helped me.
So with BM you don’t ever need to give more than 4 oz at a time, an oz to an oz and half for every one hour of not nursing, so 24 to 36 oz a day. A premie tat is going to save you on your journey as it’s a slow pace.
To increase slightly I would pump longer, including dry pumping. Pumping in the morning and in the middle of the night

So bc BM changes composition and calories as they age alot of BF babies never take more than 4-5 ounces. I had a friends who had a totally fine average sized kid that took 3 ounces at a time until she was a year
Make sure you are hydrated, eat… take care of your body for baby. Eat oatmeal. Warm showers.
That doesn’t sound bad. It sounds like you’re regulating to meet your baby’s needs. If you’re pumping that then your baby is probably getting enough. Drinking plenty, not dieting and looking at a picture of your baby half an hour before feeding can help. Also pump after feeding or half an hour before.

Fennel essential oil. Apply under the arm and on top of the breast AFTER nursing. Use up to 4 times a day. DO NOT USE longer than 7 days straight.
