In mn and nd they test at your doc appointments. If it’s weed it’s nothing to worry about just say it’s for nausea and eating.

With weed cps opens a case makes sure baby doesn’t test positive again after first month then they close the case but being that you don’t smoke inside it’s no issue.

Well if you just found out you have plenty of time to stop doing drugs. Usually takes a few weeks to get in for your first appointment anyways. Second if you’re more concerned about hiding the fact you do drugs than the child you are going to have may I suggest counseling or rehab?
Depends what kind of drugs and where your located. Here in nova Scotia I know quite a few ppl whom smoked Marijuana there entire pregnancy with no issues from there doctor or cps, the doctor does recommend cutting back and trying to quit but never forced the issue BUT babies had very low birth weights and were delayed a bit and then others have no issues at all but in my opinion, It’s definitely not worth the risk, but some ppl use Marijuana to gain an appetite so there eating well or to lessen there sickness.
Yes in the hospital here if your positive for drugs DCF gets involved and you go into rehab before taking care of ur child alone.

Yes and if you test positive during labor then cyf is called and a caseworker comes to your room later to discuss what happens with your child.

They do not drug test unless they find reason to when the baby is born and see they are in withdrawal symptoms they then will test the baby. I work in addiction medicine and work with pregnant patients all the time if you need some help please reach out and I can help you find a place that can help you while pregnant to get off of whatever it is. If you are using and don’t seek help prior to baby being born cps will get involved. If it’s just weed nothing will happen and most doctors do not care

You have 9 months to quit whatever it is your doing and if you don’t then what alot of people said will indeed happen… They ask you at first appointment if you take drugs or drink and if you say yes they will indeed test you at every single visit and if you keep showing up positive then you can kiss your baby goodbye after delivery !!!

I don’t know about any other states , but in GA doctors can’t drug test without telling you you’re being tested unless they have reasonable cause to. That being said, if you have any illicit substances in your system when baby is born they will call cps and your baby will be taken away.

They ask for a urine sample at every appointment and they will ask you if you are using. If the baby is born with drugs in its system then you will have CPS called on you. Good luck.
Yes. And you should quit asap. Honestly it’s not even worth it!!! They can detect any drug use after 24 weeks in your placenta and cord blood. It’s better for your baby to quit asap. I understand addicting and pregnancy 100%. You can do it, u HALF to. If you don’t they will take your baby from hospital. Then it’s 90 days at least of sobriety of you get that option. Please quit.

I’m in Florida. Idk about every appointment but I know they do at birth. And they test the baby as well. They are pretty lenient when it comes to marijuana (meaning they won’t come and take your kid) because it is becoming legal but anything else you could be in trouble if it’s in your system.

Yes they do. Even if you get lucky and not get tested they will test the baby and the cord afterwards. As long as it is not a hard drug CPS will set up a program with you that allows you to keep your child. Must complete it. You have the choice now to stop whatever it is you are doing.
At my appointments they did not test. But if you answer yes to drinking using drugs, then yes they will.

Marijuana can not harm a fetus! I know several people including myself that smoked until birth and all babies were happy and healthy. I even know a dr that told a friend to keep smoking as she wasnt eating or sleeping. But i personally would quit the last trimester so your clean when baby is born just to be safe

In cali, I smoked weed because I had to for my mental health (let’s just say pregnancy was not for me) all the way up to birth I did pee test ever time I went so if they did test they didn’t care because I NEVER lost my kid after giving birth. It all depends on the area you live in. And yes my child have absolutely NOTHING wrong with her. But if it’s a anything other the that yes quit. Because there was no specifications on what you are using.
They just asked me straight up I told them the truth I was on adderall when I got pregnant and then I weened myself off safely they said it wouldn’t hurt the baby but rather be safe than sorry what ever I take my baby takes too

Let me just share here, I was addicted to meth while pregnant with my 2nd child. I shot up every day multiple times a day. I maybe slept a total of a week in that nine months. I knew I was pregnant, I knew it was wrong, and I knew I couldn’t stop. I didn’t have the will power or the ability in myself to stop. I did try to get food in me for my baby. It was the grace of God that my son was born healthy. He didn’t have a noticeable detox and came home with me. Protective services did come out because my mother told them she was concerned about me and my son. At the age of 6 weeks my son was taken from me. That is what gave me the will to stop. It took me till he was 8 months old before he came back home. I have been sober since July will make 17 years that our lives were saved. He is a typical teenage boy he knows his early life story and I’m not ashamed to tell people about it. I need to share my story so that people won’t give up hope on themselves or their loved ones. Be there for them and make sure that everyone is safe in the situation. You can force people to change they have to want it.

Girl quit smoking if its weed quit at 4 months 6months latest u dont want it in the umbicol cord or u can get dhs involved once docotor notices ur smoking which they will they end up reporting it more later u r into ur trimester and thats when they test umbicol cord

My drs office never did any drug tests. I guess it just depends on if they are worried about it or not. If you admit to it or they think you have a drug problem then they will probably do one. But if you’re talking weed, I wouldn’t even worry about it. This coming from a mom who just had her baby and got laughed at in the hospital when I told them I smoked weed.

I’ve had 5 kids in different states I’ve never been drug tested. Buuuuut LET ME MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR!!! IF A CHILD IS BORN AND SHOWS SIGNS OF WITHDRAWAL AT THE TIME OF BIRTH YOUR CHILD WILL BE TESTED AND IF POSITIVE WILL GO INTO STATES CUSTODY!!! the doctors as far as I know do not need your consent at that point, depending on how much drugs are in that baby’s system could be fatal and or ruin a child’s whole life.
No they do not but atleast not that i know of, but SMH what a damn shame if you cant quit drugs for your baby.

Talk to your gynecologist they help you and don’t report it to social services. They will give you a scrip that doesn’t hurt the baby.

Oh my Gosh some do and some dont … everyone is saying get help and to call social services , this person is probably asking because if they did do drugs it was probably before they found out they were pregnant and don’t want to be CRITIZED or HAVE SOCIAL SERVICES CALLED ON THEM BECAUSE THEY SMOKED A JOINT ONE DAY AND TOOK A PREGNANCY TEST THE NEXT damn I hate people lmao

Yes they will warn you that your baby wont go home with you if when delivered you have drugs in your system so just be clean for next appt it’s ok they understand you didn’t know you were pregnant and stopped as soon as you found out

Yes the hell they do, everytime you go they ask you to pee in a cup to text your urine, and they also drug test you… if any test during your pregnancy comes back positive, they automatically contact child services and when the baby is born they will drug test the baby, the umbilical cord, the placenta, and you. If any test is positive other than Marijuana, they will temporally remove the child from you and make you go through the necessary steps to get your child back. If a family member can’t take the child, they will place the child in foster care until you complete your care plan and all services/classes required. If it’s just Marijuana at birth, they will not let you leave the hospital until child services has met with you and start a case, you will have to pass all drug test for a 90 day period, or they will remove the child

Not in Canada but you really should tell if you had taken some before pregnancy or you still taken some. They will not judge you, they will only educated you by saying why it’s not recommended to take will being pregnant. If you want they can even help you stop taking it.

Ummm ok KARENS!! She said she JUST found out. No baby girl they don’t unless you give them a reason too. I smoked weed in the beginning of my pregnancy and told them that when they gave me a positive test at the doctor’s and they said they will test in the end but it’s more for the babies health!
My granddaughter was born with cleft palate and lip because of it
