Depends on the state. I always got tested at my 2nd appt. They won’t take your baby for pot. Other things maybe but hardly pot especially if you test negative later
If you’re an addict, this is going to be hard on you to stop but harder for this baby. It’s never too soon to put your child FIRST. Ask for help because this baby is depending on you to speak on his/her behalf.

Even if they do, just be honest with your doctor. They will not just take your baby away from you or any of the fear mongering going on right now. Many people use marijuana and people do if fact use drugs and clean up for their kids! Your first appointment, just tell your doctor everything. If you do have a problem with a substance, your doctor will refer you help. If it’s thc, which is completely legal in some states, your doctor will probably tell you that some mothers will use it for morning sickness but there’s not enough testing done to deem it safe for the baby. Whatever you do, be honest to your doctor. They have heard worse.

Where I live they don’t unless there’s suspicion. And if there is mom and baby both get tested when baby is born and if either pops positive for anything more than marijuana cps takes the baby.
Not to my knowledge and I know I had pot in my system when I was pregnant in 2017

Please be honest with your provider for you child’s sake. There is no judgement but that baby deserves a proper chance at life without medical issues associated with drug use during pregnancy. Pot is one thing anything else can seriously harm the baby…
Yes it will be detected in your urine…just like weed they will see it. Just stop whatever you’re doing before or once its detected. Depending on what it is they will go from there. Not a huge deal every state is different.

Im gonna put it straight. Yes they do. And if not at obgyn when your in labor they drug test you and if you come up positive cps will meet you either in the hospital or at your home depending on the substance. If its weed look up your states restrictions cuz some places are hard on the rules of cannabis and will take your child until they check out your home to make sure your a safe parent along with testing after to make sure you stop. Simple resolutions. Dont stress. But you gotta stop. Its not worth messing up the baby or your chances of keeping them after birth. Iv seen everything happen to kids to everyone around me. And i made sure i wouldnt fuck up for my child. Do the same and be a good mama darling. Goodluck.
The first OB I went to always ran a drug test (which is ironic because she smoked weed LMAO). My last OBs didn’t drug test until after baby was born. It depends on your OB and the hospital you go to, BUT, it also depends on whether or not you have a criminal history of anything drug related (I do not have any drug related charges, thank god). This happened years ago, but I was 16 weeks pregnant with my second son and didn’t even know it until I took a pregnancy test. I literally had ZERO symptoms, and I did smoke a blunt, plus drink alcohol BEFORE I found out (for all of you judgmental Karen’s out there, yes, I stopped immediately after I found out lol). No crazy sense of smell, no immediate weight gain, no nausea, no cravings, not even my breasts got plump. I took a test when I noticed I was bloated and it didn’t go away. I worked at a hotel, around powerful chemicals at the time, during the holidays. And I did still have my period until after that test came back positive 
Almost ended up on an episode of ‘I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant.’ 
yes my understanding is they drug test everytime you pee in a cup and they will test baby to once you deliver.
I know someone who smoked pot their whole pregnancy. Told their doctor about it. She never had cps involved in her life.

Every appt they will do a urine sample they always test that urine. If it is first appt ok they will check to make sure you stop. If you have anymore after that plus the baby is born with drugs , you will lose that child! This is a perfect time for you to stop!
Yes they do!! I worked in Ob/gyn! If you keep testing positive they call CPS!! And you’ll lose your kid!! They do randoms too! You never know when it’s gonna happen. As you shouldn’t!!

I believe they test you at your first appointment and definitely when you have baby. I didn’t know that I got tested the day my son was born (I’m clean so it didnt matter anyway) but I just wasn’t sure why that wasn’t mentioned to me.
I was honest with my ob i had thrown up MULTIPLE times a day all day long to where i was in the hospital for low everything from throwing up. I told my ob that i had started smoking a little weed and that it helped me sleep it helped me eat and i stop throwing up! She specifically told me and i quote " amanda if i had a dr that could perscribe you medical Marijuana i would" she knew and i ended up delivering at a different hospital i had smoked the night i went into labor and they didnt say anything to me after i had him! If its anything other then weed i hope you can become sober for your baby.

They take it for the initial appointment and then not until the baby is born they test their first wet diaper. Stopping smoking a month ahead left no problems and wasn’t tested at every appointment. If it’s medicinal in your state and you have a card they can’t say anything to you about it anyway
Yes they do. They send ur urine off. Then the baby is tested by first poop and depending on usage & how long it can test as far back as 2-3 months

It’s best to talk to your doctor. They will not report you until the birth of your child, depending on unborn child laws in your state.

With my first son I remember right before I was about to give birth I had to give a urine sample, and it came out so clear that the nurse made me give her another urine while being in the bathroom with me. She thought I had filled the cup up with water. They take it very serious and I was told Urine taken at every appointment was just to check chemical levels, and hydration but when I signed into my patient portal I seen the urine tests were all screened for every drug including weed.
In your case…I certainly hope so. And I’m a recovering addict

Just because she may fail a drug test because of something she did prior to learning she was pregnant does not automatically make her a bad parent or drug addict for fuck sake, all you perfect woman need to get off the internet and go tend to your perfect kids and perfect husband in your perfect little houses and let the normal humans live in peace!! They didnt used to but drug use is so rampant now and if they have a reason to suspect i think they do not sure if they ask permission I do know that in washington state they now test the placenta and 1ST stool to determine at birth what drugs and how long what trimester were used but that may also be based on missing prenatal appts and signs that baby show of distress after birth

They have to order the test specifically. Lab work outside of clinic because so many states have medicinal use now its not really a state thing anymore. They also have to have your permission to drug test you first. If you dont have your MJ card, SOMETIMES they legally have to report it to DCF if your baby is born testing positive for THC but it also depends on the state you live in. Its not frowned upon like it was 10 years ago. DCF rarely opens a case on marijuana use. You’ll be fine

If you smoke weed you need to stop… it will be in your baby’s meconium…the first poo… if you smoke after 5 months… that is what they test… Google it… plus ya know… you are pregnant… you shouldn’t be using anything…
They test for everything. The nine week blood work they test u for everything. So if ur using. Be honest with ur dr and they can advise u what u need to do.

Yes, run drug screens and type and RH factor, if you don’t stop the drugs and your baby survives, she/he will be born also addicted, and its not pretty. Can also be born blind, deformed, intellectually disabled and missing a functioning organ, I’ve been up close and personal with a young woman born to a mother addicted to crack

Don’t know what kind of Doctors yall have. My doctor has ways talked to me about everything with detail and what he can and can’t do. Straight up told me their not allowed to do drug tests WITHOUT CONSENT! You’re supposed to trust your doctor and be honest with them. Unless they are suspecting and have some sort of related drug complications during labor then they will test the babies umbilical cord. The reason I know is because someone called my doctor and accused me of doing drugs. Thats why I know this. I gave many drug tests through out my pregnancy each one with consent and even let them test the umbilical cord once my daughter was born.
My ob that I have always used runs drug tests and urine tests at every appointment

Unless it is weed, I would seriously suggest you quit now. Even if they don’t test during pregnancy, they test the baby when it’s born. If it has drugs on it’s system, you will most likely lose custody on day one.

My doctors started at the start of the 2 trimester i smoked weed thu my whole pregnancy or i wouldnt of been able to eat. Some states will have you talk to a social worker after you have the baby.
Yes they do… and Didnt do it NOT ONCE until i was 8cm dilated… planned on nursing and they wouldnt allow for it because i had thc in my system… and had to get tested 2 times a week by cps for 1.5 months… my husband and I both…
P.s. yall freakin out over someone smoking weed while pregnant need to chill tf out… EVERYONE has THC receptors whether you smoke or not… THC allows for focus ect… My son is VERY bright and was talking complete sentences at 6.5 months old…

I smoked the majority of my pregnancy all except the last 10 weeks. I’m in the Bible Belt of Texas and nothing has happened. My doc knew I smoked and the few reasons I did was because of nausea and sleep deprivation. My doc honestly told me it’s probably healthier for me and baby both than taking a bunch of prescriptions.
California here ; if it’s weed here they will tell you to stop smoking and they’ll check you periodically. Anything worse I’m sure you’ll get a referral to CPS but as long as you test clean and your baby is clean at birth they said they would just follow up and that would be it!
At the end of the day, if they test or not…if u do drugs and your baby is born w withdrawal. A… Why dont you google baby born w withdrawls and watch it. Its traumatic and idk how anyone could put an innocent newborn through that but even that aside, thats when shit hits the fan. Child services, police, not to mention trying to get your baby back and proving u r no longer using which hopefully a baby growing inside of u will make u at the very least want to try or walk away and let someone adopt that baby who will be a loving parent, my some drug addict who hurt her baby before it was even born! (And not that I’m all about abortion but if u r that selfish of a person to continue drugs, why r u even having this baby?? I try not to judge people but I’m definitely mrs mcjudgy when kids are involved in anything

They test when the baby is born no matter what. I’d suggest stop using whatever you are and get help! There are options for pregnant mothers take advantage of that and get better!

Yes… when you go to the hospital to give birth they drug test you and if you’re positive for anything they will call DCBS and the hospital social worker will get involved.
