Well, when they do tests they will find out even if the test wasn’t specifically looking for drugs. They are mandated reporters too.

Yes but if it is weed they just tell you you have to stop when you are five months some doctors use weed for women that have bad sickness during pregnancy but if it’s the other stuff they will put it on your file and contact cps to have them ready if the baby is born with anything in blood system
They do ask in person if you have drink/smoke/drugs in your prenatal appointment tho. 
Rather be honest then lie and something could be seriously wrong
They do get you to pee and test for multiple things.

No they don’t! It’s against your rights to be drug tested without your knowledge. Of course you can be on random drug tests when on probation and stuff but you still know you’re being tested. If they have a suspicion they can definitely contact human services, but until the child is born CPS will not get involved because legally there is no living child to get involved with. I know it’s sad and I wish it wasn’t the case but it is. The supreme court ruled that this was unconstitutional when a South Carolina hospital tried doing this to their pregnant patients in 2001.

In Kansas they test at every appointment for all illegal drugs. Weed is still illegal in Kansas so even testing positive for that in Kansas can result in the state removing your child as soon as they are born.

Wouldn’t this show up on an insurance statement? Also, most doctors where I live are affiliated with larger medical groups. I can log into an account and see every test, result, procedure, etc. I’m 43, my baby making days are over, but I think that information is available to you. That being said, for the health of your baby, you should tell your doctor and get clean.
I have a friend who used it for her sickness while pregnant and they didn’t care. She told them she preferred they over chemical meds known to cause birth defects. They didn’t even get a CPS call.

What’s done is done so they might do drug testing but honestly I don’t know. All you can do now is stop and be honest with the dr so the baby’s health is taken care of and yours also. If you need treatment, do it so you can be the best mom you can be. Good luck and stay positive. I’m not against marijuana at all but prob not the best to smoke it when pregnant. Does have some effects on baby. Anything heavier than that is def harmful to the baby.

I have three kids, I do not remember having to pee at every appointment, only to find out if I was pregnant. 
No they don’t, but you need to stop doing any drugs at this point. The good thing is first month or two baby isn’t sharing any bloodline yet so it shouldn’t do any harm. But if you plan on keeping it. No drugs. No alcohol. Well maybe red or wine every now and than buts that’s all

I’m not gonna judge just like no one should be doing but yes they drug test you and will keep testing you as long as your clean when you deliver you should be ok but I don’t know I wouldn’t risk it personally not drug is worth your child being taken away
I know coming off substances is very hard but you must at least try for the good of the baby. You must tell your midwife or dr and they can help you, they won’t hate on you for it as long as you’re straight up honest and want to stop doing drugs.
I suggest you get clean and stay that way. For your baby… I’m sure if you test positive in the very start and then pass all along the way you’ll be fine. But think about your sweet baby. You could be giving it serious complications during development. Including birth defects… Not to mention you run the risk of miscarriage so badly… They didn’t choose to use. So put them first. They deserve a mom who thinks that way. Good luck!

Many physicians do drug test during pregnancy
In michigan they test at all your appointments if you’re on state insurance. Idk abt private insurance but i know they do if u have medicaid and they report it to cps. Then they come to the hospital and if the baby tests positive they open a case on you

Depends on where you are and why your using it. I’m in Utah and it’s illegal here. My dr said he couldn’t advise it because it’s illegal but that he knows some people have used it for their sickness. ( this is for pot,)

I smoked weed (13 years ago). My oldest will be 11 this year. Not 1 TIME have I picked up a blunt, or a bowl. Regardless if your on heavier drugs, STOP!!! DRUGS ARE NOT IMPORTANT!!! REHAB, COUNSELING, YOUR SOON-TO-BE OBGYN!!! THEY ALL HAVE RESOURCES!!! And yes, they do test at the hospital after birth! My youngest is 5.5 years old, could have changed. Not sure. They take urine to check for protein… whether they drug test or not who really knows but its doctor patient confidence and they can’t report you

Yeah they do and the drugs they test in the placenta stays longer then in ur system and sometimes they will test the first poo that comes out of the baby
They will not take your baby if you fail a drug test during pregnancy. That is the drug test at the hospital when you go to give birth. As long as you pass that one you are fine to take your baby home. Why people are being judgmental assholes is beyond me. Oh you just found out you’re pregnant and ask a simple question let’s talk shit and stress you out

When you go they will have you pee and take your blood. If it’s weed then you are good. Some doctors will tell you it’s ok to keep smoking because it gives you a appetite. I don’t know about any other drug but weed. Don’t stress… go see about yourself and that baby!

Based on the wording of your question it implies that you intend to keep the baby at least until it is born. Both of those are your choice. What is concerning with your wording is that you are more worried about being tested instead of giving the unborn child a healthy development. I would appreciate if this question was elaborated upon due to its current simplicity leaves too much room for potentially false assumptions, including my own.

In NY they test at least at your first appointment and any time they may have suspicion. But you have to give a urine sample at every appointment because they at least test for UTIs.
I know cps can get involved at some point after delivery if the drugs are in babies system

They didn’t at my appts… but they did test my blood when I delivered for any drug you can think of and I have never done a drug or even smoked a cigarette in my life so I think it may be standard these days. You need to get healthy and clean for you and your baby. I know it might be hard but i it’ll be worth it! I wish you luck.

It depends on the state. I have had 3 children and pregnant with #4, I have never been drug tested at an appointment. I live in NY. Stay safe tho. Drugs are no good for baby.

So many people yelling about doing drugs while pregnant…maybe she just found out she’s pregnant today and smoked weed yesterday and her doctors appt for a new pregnancy is next week (which could potentially be a problem since weed generally stays in the body for 30 days).
To answer the question, each state is different but at most first pregnancy appts they drug test. A lot of doctors understand about some substances since you could have used before you knew you were pregnant (alcohol, weed, prescriptions) and will push out your drug test to the next appt

Yes they do every time you go. And the kicker is they will wait till you have the baby and then take it from you at the hospital. My sister had it done to her, the doctor stayed really cool about it and I mean kept a close eye on the baby and when she gave birth snatched her right up locked the baby in the nursery until my mom went and picked the poor baby up.

It depends on the doctor! I have an agreement with my doctor that they’ll send me to rehab if they feel it’s appropriate. I was on weed but stopped that when I found out. Good luck!
Not unless they see a need to. My best advice is to absolutely get prenatal care.
Absolutely do tell the Dr. if you are struggling with an addiction.
Absolutely seek help for that immediately if you are. It shows your character and gives baby the best chance.
If you use recreationally stop now. Period.

They definitely do when you go to deliver, I only found that out when they freaked out because I had an opioid in my system. I told them I don’t do drugs and they didn’t believe me. Turns out the migraine medication that was prescribed to me by my ob had an opioid in it, they had this on file and I had only taken one that week a few days before. After that half my nurses treated me like I was a drug seeking addict to the point I had to refuse all narcotics and only requested ibuprofen and tylenol. So yes at some point they will test you for drugs, its because they have to be on the lookout for withdrawal symptoms in the child

Even if they don’t drug test during pregnancy your baby can be tested at birth.
Regardless of whether or not they can find out drugs can be very harmful to your child so it’s in your best interest & that of your baby to just be honest & get help

Granted I’ve only had 1 child 6 years ago but I was never drug tested. Weird, wonder why they didn’t. But I would definitely quit before it’s too late just to be on the safe side.

All I can say is people are so fucking rude and quick to judge, one it could be weed, two it could the fact they weren’t trying to get pregnant and weed takes up to 30 + days to get out of your system so I get the worry, and yes they do test throughout the pregnancy and after the birth

As long as you get clean during the pregnancy, there shouldn’t be a problem. With the states that have legalized marijuana, it’s going to be common for those who partake to be positive for it. Unplanned pregnancies happen so just take care of yourself after you find out. Now if you were planning and trying for a baby and you test positive, that shows you’re not ready.

Yes my daughter was drug tested just had her daughter in May 2020. She only uses weed which is legal here yet they reported her to dcf and had to have home visits for 8 months acting like she was a hard core drug addict. I don’t condone drug use and especially during pregnancy. I don’t approve of smoking either. I hate that they give infants methadone because their parents were selfish and condemned these innocent babies to a life of addiction

However, be HONEST with your doctor about it no matter what. The doctor will already know if there is drug use just based on vitals, all the blood tests, and fetal development

I have had two girls and am currently pregnant with twins. I have never been told up front that i was being tested, so im honestly not sure.

For me it depended on the state ur in. I had a kid in oregon they did. But in south dakota they didnt.
I think it depends on the state. But, here is a natural and healthy way to flush your system out: buy 2 half gallons of cranberry juice. Drink one of them. Fill empty carton with water. Drink all of the water. Drink the other carton of cranberry juice. Fill that carton with water. Drink all of the water. Repeat.
Do that all day, every day until you test. You’ll literally be peeing every 5 freaking minutes, but your sample will be nice and clear.

If they tested me for drugs during pregnancy I never knew about it. I wouldve never tested positive so can’t be 100 on it but I had a friend that smoked weed during both of hers and nothing was ever said about it. And this was back before weed was legal even medically in my state
They test everyone. Most of the time, during your very first appointment, they take urine and blood. A drug panel is ran. I’ve never done drugs in my life and I’ve been tested in all 5 of my pregnancies.
If the dr asks for a urine sample, then you will be drug tested as well as checked for UTI. I suppose you could decline the sample being given. I don’t think there is a law saying you have to give one unless they have a court order signed by the judge.

Yes they do especially if anywhere in your records it states a previous positive drug history or test and now they are also testing mothers when they go into the hospital to have the baby because if you test positive they involve the social services. Sneaky but they are allowed to do it because it’s the well being of the child.

Not for nothing, if you have any kind of narcissistic drugs in your system you will be flagged as a drug user and during the entire time of your pregnancy you will be tested quite regularly for drugs in your system. The baby will be taken from you if you would ever test positive.
They did every apt i had during my pregnancy and still do it during my postpartum check ups to make sure the baby isn’t at harm and im not harming her.
