Everyone crying about toxic shock syndrome, it is so unbelievably rare. Got a total hysterectomy yesterday and guess what they did? Shoved packing inside and LEFT IT THERE for 12 hours. Standard procedure, even with the blood. Just a little fun fact for y’all. Freaked me out but very normal. Trust me, having a tampon in for 2-4 hours or WHATEVER may not be normal for most, but the chances of it actually harming you are very slim to none.

I find some of the comments on here very ignorant.

It’s perfectly safe to pee with a tampon in. If you have any of the irrational fears and ridiculous beliefs that I’ve read in this thread, take the stripper route and cut the string off before you insert it. :woman_shrugging:

I usually tuck the string up the front. No issues.

I would change my tampon any time I pee. If the tampon gets wet, it pulls the pee into your vagina. I would rather waste a tampon than have a urine soaked tampon inside me

You can tuck the string or hold it to the side while you pee, that or change it every time

:flushed::flushed:Change it everytime you go toilet!!

Hold it out of the way, dry it with toilet paper, change it, get a period cup, use period panties instead of panty liners… like if the issue is piss soaked panties, dry the string off if it gets pissy/avoid it getting pissy/use an alternative that eliminates the issue completely. I don’t understand the issue here.

I just pull the string upwards lol

When I use to wear them id change every time I needed to pee its best to change if string gets wet so there isn’t pee going some where it shouldn’t

I’m confused on why all these grown women dont know that pee and blood come from 2 different holes in your vagina

Change tampon every time and wear a thin liner if needed.

A little odd but I usually reach from behind and hold the string back as opposed to up in the front as we pee from the tiny opening below the clitoris but slightly above the vaginal canal . This leaves my tampon string dry so I don’t have to change it as having the string wet with pee would drive me nuts

Omg you don’t have to change it every time. Just hold or tuck it to the side

I change mine everytime I pee & I pee a lot normally use a box a little less then a box a month which is like 9 dollars just change them its definitely more sanitary and seriously not that expensive.

Damn, how are there people who don’t wet the string?! I have to remove it every time I pee because even if I hold it out of the way, my pee always trickles back towards my vagina. :weary:

Just move the string out of the way before you pee.

Are y’all serious?!? Like, I really thought it was common practice to just put the string right inside…
You have an entire tampon inside there why would you not tuck the string right inside too?!? 1. You don’t get pee on it. 2. You def don’t have to change every time you pee. I pee constantly. I can’t imagine changing it every time. I wish I had yalls money.:flushed:

Hold the string back,

How have you gone through your whole life to the point of reaching motherhood? I’m seriously wondering…

Hello! Because the urethra is in front of the vagina, its easy for wee to trickle down and wet the tampon string. Try holding the string to the side when you wee and it will stop it getting soaked and then making your underwear wet.
Hope this helps

I wash my hands, and before I pee, I grab the string and hold it to the side until I’m done. The string doesn’t get wet. And wipe, as usual.

Tuck your string up inside so it doesn’t hang out. It’s a game changer. Especially if you’re like me and have to pee all of the time but don’t need to change your tampon every time. Better to get a little blood your finger that you can wash off when you wash your hands, then worry about pee dripping off your tampon string in your panties.

I could never change it everytime I went to the bathroom, I go way too often for that. You simply hold the string our the way, just hold it the side while you pee.

Switch to menstrual cup. Do good for youself and environment.

Hold it when you pee, that way it’ll stay dry. I’ve just switched to a menstrual Cup to see how I go with that. X

I switched to a Luna cup a few year ago. Love it! I don’t even get cramps like I did with tampons. Now the birth control I use, I don’t have periods.

Back up with a maxi pad as well I always had extremely heavy cycles it was the only way to save my underwear from urine or blood never thought I would say Thank God for menopause

Just switch to the cup :woman_shrugging:t2: makes life easier and saves you money :v:t3:

Either change your tampon every time you go to the bathroom or invest in a menstrual cup. With the menstrual cup all you have to do is pull it out when you go to the bathroom empty the blood rinse out the cup and reinsert. May sound really gross but it’ll save you so much money on tampons and all you have to do is just wear a pad or a panty liner in case a little bit of blood leaks

I either push the string back to pee or change it if it gets wet

take it out when i pee. but HONESTLY … why do we NEVER talk about that. and why is it NOT in the paper that comes with Tampons .

Some of y’all need a refresher course. Tampons don’t block urine flow; you CAN’T get that much pee on it. If it does, you don’t have it in correctly. Did you know your pee is sterile? Meaning bacteria-free? Besides the wetness and possible urine smell, you can just pat it dry, but there’s no need to worry about the string.

Tuck your string up in front, if you don’t wanna risk peeing on your hand or hold to the side.

Do what makes you comfortable, as far as changing it after each toilet use.

I used to hold the string to the side if it wasn’t ready for changing x

I change tampon whenever i pee, or a panty/thong liner.

Changing your tampon every time you go to the bathroom is actually not a good idea unless you actually need to. This can cause some serious dryness in the vagina due to the absorbency. Simply holding the string out of the way or using a different product can solve this issue.

Change each time you go to the bathroom.

I dry it off :woman_shrugging:t2: also, when I pee if it’s not time to change it, I kinda move the string to the side of that makes sense and put it between my tights then it doesn’t really get wet. We also use wipes so normally I clean it so it doesn’t smell. I’m weird yes lol

Same as Yarra, though past all that now,I had to wear big pads too as so heavy

:face_vomiting: just don’t pee with one in and you won’t get piss on it

I just swap the tampon every time I pee. I don’t pee often though, so that’s probably my benefit. You’re supposed to change tampons pretty frequently
