I let my dogs lick the plates or whatever before it’s washed. It’s getting wash. Overreacting

We let our dog lick bowls or plates. I know plenty that do and plenty that don’t allow it :woman_shrugging:t3:

I let my dog lick meat plates. Sometimes. Although not necessarily a potato salad bowl because onions are bad for dogs.

You are over reacting.

Overreacting. I grew up with dogs licking plates and bowls. It will be washed anyways

Nah that’s nasty it will be washed with the sponge that you use to clean your dishes it’s gross

She’s giving the dog a lil treat. And if it’s gonna be cleaned out immediately after then def overreacting. If she was gonna let the dog lick it out as a form of cleaning and use it again after then yeah that’s nasty. But if she’s cleaning it after it’s fine.

Overreacting. That’s just pre wash!

If your washing it what’s the problem? What’s the difference different people eating out of it ?

Growing up my dogs licked majority of the plates and Bowls

If there were some leftovers we put them all on one of the plates and left it on the floor until locked clean (not long at all lol)
Rinsed it off and put in the dishwasher, good as new

You’re correct. That is gross!

You can wash & bleach the dishes, what’s the problem

You’re overreacting. She’s not having it lick it clean to be put away or anything lol

As long as it’s going on the dishwasher don’t see the major issue

Nope that shit is nasty!!!

My dog licks my mouth with no warning so a dosh before it’s washed is fine

It’s fine dish washer is high temp

Overreacting. The bowl is getting washed, probably in a dishwasher where the drying is by heat so it’s sanitized. Even hand washing in hot water and soap is fine.

My husband was the same way. I threw out the dishes. Love my dogs but they are not eating off my dishes

Overreacting lol. That dogs mouth is cleaner than either of you guys and it will be washed after. Don’t sweat it lol

Hell no your not overreacting!!! That is gross af!!! This right here is the reason I don’t eat at anyone’s house!!!

My dogs use to drink out of the cup I was drinking from
With my horses: I would take a bite (apple, pear, carrot, whatever) and they would take a bite. We would go back and forth sharing until it was gone

I’m white. Grew up with that as a normal thing now I’m grown we have 8 dogs and they are not allowed to touch our dishes…or lick my kids mouths, which is another white ppl. Thing

I agree with you! Gross

It all depends there isn’t a right or wrong with it either way I wouldn’t let my animal eat off my plate or anything else it’s a personal preference

I don’t allow it but I know people who do

I’m Mexican and my bf is white. He also let our dog lick bowls and plates before washing. I had the same initial reaction! It took some getting use to but now I’m use to it. :joy: I can totally see why you feel that way but I don’t think it’s something to end a relationship over.

Your dog ,your bowl ,your business

I agree its gonna get washed. My dogs are my babies no harm in it! Now if you dont wash your dishes then eeeewww thats nasty

No it’s gross. It’s the concept. But us saying gross is probably going to catch a lot of flack from the avid dog lovers who kiss their dogs on the mouth. Pets don’t belong in the kitchen where food goes. If she’s letting the dog lick the bowl it was probably in the kitchen during prep, getting pets and scraps. So licking the bowl before wash is probably the least of your worries.

You are overreacting. It will be washed. Could be worse she could let the dog lick the spoon that she is still using lol. My dogs always lick the plates and pans that I cooked with before I wash them. Heck they make it easier to wash with getting most everything licked off aka no scrubbing lol.

I mean it’s gonna be washed anyways & dogs mouths believe it or not are cleaner than you’d think.

Life is about compromise. If it disgust you to that extent…then agree to put it in a dog dish only. Hopefully youre just as willing to compromise on things she doesn’t like

If it’s going to be washed, why is it gross? Washing gets off the germs. Is it gross eating plates that strangers have eaten off of? No… because the plates are washed after use.

That’s gross my husband lets the dog lick stuff too and I hate it

I don’t like it but there are so many more serious issues in this world to throw a fit over something like this

Yeah….I don’t let my pets use my dishes. If they do they become theirs. I get they’ll be washed but….I just won’t feel it’s clean anymore. It’s gross to me. You feel how you feel

I think it’s gross that’s why they have their own bowls

I think its kinda gross. I mean I wouldn’t eat out of that dish again. I’ve never let my animals eat out of my dishes

I will compile it all on to one dish and give it to the dog if it’s dog friendly I still bet his mouth is cleaner then some if not most.

No I agree with you. It is gross.

Always remember mom letting our dog/cat lick leftovers off plate and then wash the dish with hot soap and water.

umm I agree it gets washed

I don’t do that! We all have different opinions but to me, it is a no!

Oh please get over it!k

I do that all the time  if I’m planning on washing it before it’s used again

You are over reacting

It’s only gross if you don’t plan on washing it before using it again. :joy:

relax and wash the bowl.

The only thing I would have been upset with is the dog consuming foods that could have hurt them. Onion, garlic and loads of other are not good for dogs they can cause a lot of issues. Seasonings and overly salty foods are no good and take a toll on their organs, they can not process people foods as our bodies do. Other than that the temperature of the dishwasher would kill any bacteria.

I’d probably put the potato salad into the dogs bowl, instead of keeping in one we eat from.

I don’t think it’s a big deal

I let my dog “wash” my dishes before I do.

Your immune system only works if you use it…that’s why the super clean and their families get sick so much/have low immune systems… Some find it gross, others don’t bc it’s washed. The rural/poor use bowls for alot of things bc they are washed.

Yeah, definitely overreacting. It was going to be washed anyway, so why the b*tch fit? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: Were you planning on licking the bowl yourself? Jfc. :woman_facepalming:t2:

It gets washed :joy: you let you dogs lick/kiss you don’t you?? :joy:

Sorry you are overreacting
The bowl was on its way to being washed
It’s not like you are going to eat out of the bowl after the dog before washing

You threw a fit …like children do :roll_eyes: man I’d hate to see how you react to a real problem
Hopefully she saw the red flag that is and dipped out :tipping_hand_woman:

It’s getting washed, I agree with her

Idk I don’t like that either :person_shrugging:

Don’t come to my house then :joy:

It would be grossed out too. Yes, I’m going to wash it but dogs lick their butts then to put that on the sponge or washcloth and wash all my other dishes with it too. But I also don’t let my dog lick my face :woman_shrugging:t2: Just different ways of being raised I guess.

If “and yes they were….” was a thread

White and my dog can lick the plate anytime bc its easier for me to cleannn…lmao…its a proven fact tht dogs mouth is cleaner than a humans

My step dad is black so I grew up with both black and white and this is definitely one of those cultural differences that I noticed growing up. I thinks it’s gross but my husband is Hispanic and he lets the dogs lick the plates. Makes me cringe. I just wash those dishes in scolding hot water AND run them in the dishwasher.

Wash it and sanitize it. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Anybody who has a dog gives them scraps sometimes… as long as it don’t hurt them, let them enjoy

Dogs cleaner than most humans

I don’t think so. I had dogs and they did it but we always always washed everything

The dog was probably in the kitchen while the food was being prepped, she probably kisses it on the mouth and it sleeps in her bed. It’s just all a no for me. It’s my opinion though. To each their own. I love animals it’s just not for me.:face_with_peeking_eye::sweat_smile:

I don’t care if it gets washed it’s a no for me personally!

A lot of gross stuff happens with things we use daily before they get washed. Some of the cups you drink out of have probably been peed in. Every wash cloth in the house has touched a butth0le. Your toothbrush has fecal flakes on it… I wouldn’t personally let my dog lick my dishes because I’m not THAT white :rofl: but all I’m saying is we use items everyday that have been in a gross situation and until it gets pointed out, we don’t really tend to think about it.

I mean I generally just dump whatever I wanna give him into his bowl. But I gotta question the washing abilities of some of these commenters :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
