Is it gross to let a dog lick out of a bowl before its washed?

It’s not ok in my house. I have 2 dogs who are family members but I see what they do all day. They lay around and lick their butts. I’ll pass on sharing dishes

That’s what you get for not choosing a sista

Nope, u are totally INLINE in my opinion. It’s gross no matter how u look at it. Anything that licks its own behind is not eating off of something I’m gonna eat off of.

Last time I checked Hot water, Dish soap and a good scrub does clean it. If you wanna be real a dogs mouth is cleaner than a humans! Don’t believe me as your local vet :kissing_heart:

You are 100% over reacting. Ever heard of soap and water to clean dishes?? Yeah well it cleans everything off of them(if you have a dishwasher they are even sterilized with the ridiculously got water.) so I don’t get the issue at all. Both my dogs clean our plates.

That’s vile…That bowl would be the dogs after that…No way would i ever eat out of it again…
Similar thing happened to me once…I had tea at a friend’s and when she was finished she gave the dog her plate to finish it off…I nearly pucked up…So unhygienic…I never stayed to tea again…I have a cat and there’s no way id let her eat off my plate…Its dirty🤮Animals have their dishes and humans have their own and never the two should ever meet🤮

I think your 100% right dogs have their own bowls :bowl_with_spoon: humans have separate bowls :bowl_with_spoon:

I grew up in a house taht did this and it was normal to me. As an adult I cannot. :face_vomiting:

I let my dog and it washed just fine

No not at all. Look I love my pets, but I remember a time when I had a dirty ass roommate who would stick paper towels to MY plates and put out cigs on them then shove under their bed. Found them after I kicked them out, and still after washing them couldn’t bring myself to eat off them. Threw them away.

I’m white and I’ve seen my mother some very unhygienic stuff.

I used to let my dogs lick all the stuff before tossed in dishwasher. Still do. Keeps particles from stopping up dishwasher filter. Mine dteams them and i add vinegar and baking soda,so they come out sanitized and extra clean.

You’re not over reacting. That’s gross. I love my dogs like they was my kids, but would NEVER EVER let them lick anything I eat from. They have their own bowls and if they must I let them eat from PAPER plates.

You’re definitely over reacting but I’m white and treat my dogs like they are humans so what do I know :woman_shrugging:t2::roll_eyes::joy::joy:

Over reacting. Dogs have the CLEANEST mouths plus you’re going to be washing it anyway. If you’re worried, that means you’re not washing your dishes properly

Um I’m white and I don’t let my dog do that. My husband mom let’s hers do it tho, I’ve told him not to at our house. Race has nothing to do with it tho.

As a kid I saw this happen alot as an adult I would be pissed if someone used my bowls for a dog

No our dogs do not eat or drink out of our dishes if so we don’t eat or drink out of it again

Guess you don’t love dogs😂

As long as it’s going to be washed I don’t see an issue. But if that dog bites it, it’s going in the trash. I’m not sharing no food, letting them eat from my plate, lick my ice cream, climb on my counter

Nasty. But you knew that. Hope you enjoy your dog saliva-laced dishes! :dog2: :droplet:

That’s gross you are right dogs have their own bowls

I mean … I do it . I put the plates down on the floor :grimacing: they get washed … I guess I never knew it was a controversy. Eek. Don’t come for me lol

Most of us treat them like our kids… but I PROMISE YOU IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHITE OR BLACK OR CULTURE!! ITS PUR LOVE FOR YOUR DOG!!! I HOW ALL DISHES WOULD BE WASHED BEFORE REUSE FROM HUMAN OR DOG🤣

It’s disgusting, turns my stomach but what has race got to do with it

Wash the bowl. It’s fine.

You’re overreacting. Like way overreacting.

Not gross at all, all my pups do this before they go into the dishwasher. Then we don’t have to rinse them because our dogs do!

Yeah ya just wash the bowl and move on lol

It’s getting washed after :person_shrugging:

It’s going to be washed afterwards and a clean bowl it will be.

It’s literally scientifically proven that dogs mouths are cleaner than ours :joy::joy::joy: they get cleaned with soap and disinfected in hot water.

I don’t know what your different races has to do with it I personally think it’s Gross and I have family members that feel the same but also have family members that think nothing of it all the same color all raised the same way it’s not a color thing or a raisin thing it’s just a people thing

Everyone does realize as humans we carry more germs in our mouth than dogs!!

Is this real life? Lol thats overreacting to the tenth degree it’s getting washed

My dog helps all the time lol

My dog eats or drinks off my dishes whenever, long as dishes are properly washed afterwards, what is the harm, just be cautious, garlic and onions can be toxic to dogs

That ain’t right.
Lol
We love our dogs but they do not lick our dishes or our faces.
They lick their bums and that’s all I think about lol!

You wouldn’t want to come to my house then lmao

If they are washed after! Obviously
I wouldn’t make a big deal! But if they are going to lick the plate…. Just scrape it into their dish!

what confuses me tho is people get upset about that but at the same time will be seasoning their meat in the sink where all the dirty dishes go…

It’s not a black or white thing .it gross

:rofl::rofl:everyone freakin out over a dog lickin a bowl. It gets washed. Good grief.

Everybody is different. For those who think the bowl is still nasty after it’s washed, you must not wash your dishes very well.

You do realize that dogs have 1 of the cleanest mouths right? And their saliva can actually heal wounds faster. I was told that by a vet

That makes my stomach turn I don’t like that at all .I don’t eat after animals they have their own bowl

If you eat out, her dishes are cleaner.
Damn, they get washed. It’s not like she picked it back up & used it.

You might be over reacting it’s no big deal as long as it gets washed afterwards it’s fine

I can’t stand that, my in laws always let their dog do it, we called it the penny prewash🤮 but I never let our dogs…save any scientific talk on how humans are dirtier etc, I don’t care…it’s just my personal feelings on it🤷🏻‍♀️

My dogs are the Hoovers of the house, I see both sides, but dog spit is no different than human spit to me.

I’m just over here wondering why it matters if you come from a black or white family…… :face_with_monocle:

my husband would break the dish

I walked in to my husband cleaning the kitty litter in the fucking kitchen sink! I did lose it on that one. There’s not enough bleach in the world

You wash it after so unless ur incapable of actually washing a dish properly then it doesn’t matter I think people who let there dogs lick there ice cream are nasty but this shouldn’t even matter your washing it after

It’s already dirty and has to be washed…so what’s the big deal? We have always let our dogs lick the bowl or plate

No. I let my dogs lick my plate and eat off my fork.

Nah. It’s gross as hell. My dog I’ve had for 5 years (since she was 5 weeks old) tries every chance to drink my cup and if she succeeds that cup goes in the trash immediately.

Personally if you’re worried, I question how you clean dishes…

absolutely nothing wrong with letting them lick the dishes before being washed! kind of a daft question i’d say!

It’s gross. I only let my dog do it if it’s a paper plate so it’d be thrown away afterwards

When I take food out to my cows I have one that licks the spoon and bowl… I laugh about it and wash my dishes.:rofl::rofl:

… is she using the dogs tounge to wash the dish? … yeah didn’t think so. Hot water, soap and a sponge will clean the dog slobber…

My dog only eats out of her dish!

Nope. We have 3 dogs, 2 akc chocolate labs and 1 mini aussiedoodle and I love our dogs very much they are my buddies and mean the world to me however I will not allow them to eat or lick from any of our bowls, plates and or silverware. They each have their own bowls to eat from and bowls for water. My husband allowed them one time to use one of our bowls and I threw it away. I don’t care how much I could wash it and with Clorox because I use Clorox when doing cleaning I don’t like that or feel comfortable with it. My OCD would be over the top with that. I don’t allow our dogs to lick my face or our kids faces either. They lick their butts and even with them being groomed on a regular schedule and bathed on a regular basis nope can’t do it. To each their own and I respect everyone has their own choices and decisions they make in their homes might be different than mine.

If your washing it properly it should not matter

Dogs don’t carry near the bacteria in their mouths than humans do. Wash the damn bowl and it’s clean again. Jeez…

I don’t see the big deal. It was going to be washed afterwards anyway.

It’s gross. Dogs can spread worms. They kick their butts!

My dogs do…. You’re over reacting

Its gross…scrape leftovers into his own bowl from the plate

A dogs mouth is not cleaner than a humans for all of you saying that their mouths are extremely clean. They contain enormous amounts of bacteria and much of that bacteria is different than the bacteria humans are carrying. This idea is a myth.

I mean, the dishwasher is hot enough to kill most bacteria anyway

Now come on…Some of our own mouths have been in the strangest of places!

I have always let the dogs lick off a plate or bowl. If it goes in a dishwasher it’s clean

Over reacting! It’s gonna be washed anyway

if it’s about to be washed anyway, I don’t really see the issue.

It’s being washed anyways so why not let the dog clean it out??

Nope. My dogs do not eat from the dishes we use. They have dog bowls for that specific reason.

You were over reacting BIG TIME!

If its going in a dishwasher it’ll kill whatever was on it

As long as it’s getting washed I’d be more concerned for the dogs health then sanitization. Especially if it’s wormed regularly

Na that’s gross to me. Lol

Yes it’s nasty! Of course all the animal lovers aren’t gonna think so. Dogs will eat vomit…eat shit… eat anything dead/rotten… lick their ass/anyones ass. Yes they are nasty and yes it is very nasty :nauseated_face::nauseated_face::nauseated_face::nauseated_face:

You are completely overreacting

Over reacting. It will be cleaned. We grew up, and currently still, let our dogs lick our bowls. And we’ve lived to tell about it. As long as you wash them, it’s no big deal in my opinion.

Black or white, it’s nasty. I’ve seen dogs lick their behinds after going potty, and I’ve seen dogs eat puke. I don’t care how clean you wash your dishes, knowing that dog’s tongue has been on them dishes makes me want to :face_vomiting:

No way would this white girl let my dog lick a bowl I eat out of
Nasty to me
Hes got his own bowls

If the dog can have what’s on the plate I rinse it with warm water into their dish for a “gravy “ for next meal

My dogs get bites off my fork so no. Lol I don’t think that’s nasty. Lol

I don’t like it. So wouldn’t happen in my home. I think it’s nasty! But to each their own

Nope… I’d personally throw it out and not wash it at all but I have issues soo… :woman_shrugging:

You admitted to throwing a fit. So yes. Lol overreaction. You could have said it was nasty without being a child.

You were over reacting! It’s going to be washed afterwards anyway!
