To be honest I wouldn’t be concerned as long as it’s washed properly after. It’s not going to hurt anyone. But it’s ok that it’s a personal preference that she not do it because it grosses you out

I say it’s not a big deal if you wash your dishes thoroughly, but I’m a dog groomer

If poop can literally be washed out of cloth diapers and them be sanitized, a bowl that a dog licked is fine
All these people who are concerned about germs from the dog, do you not eat out at public restaurants where complete strangers have used the same plates and silverware that you also use?

I saw a man eat ice cream from the same spoon he shared with his dog. I hard a hard time viewing that , it was family at the time. I never said anything but was totally grossed out .

I wouldn’t necessarily be a cultural thing but more of a preference. If it grosses you out then you’re not wrong for feeling that way. But to also add, you might want to think of your future in the relationship. Because even if she agrees to stop doing it (which it’s likely she won’t because she doesn’t see anything wrong with it), she obviously was raised for that to be normal in her household, so her family would still be doing it. And if you’re attending family gatherings there, then you’ll be eating from things that the dog licked/ate off of. 
If warm soap and water can kill c. diff it can kill anything.

An animal eating/licking from a bowl before it’s washed is 100% personal preference. When I was younger it made me cringe, now I’m okay with it. Also, people allowing their pets to do this or not, has nothing to do with human skin color.

When food grows mold and gets sour, you wash it out right? Use some soap and bleach??? You wouldn’t eat eat out of a moldy dirty bowl, you would wash it and use it again.
A dogs saliva can be washed also. 
It depends on if it’s gross to you or not. I don’t think it has to do with ethnic background. I’m Hispanic and I’ll give my dogs food/water in ANYTHING I want. They are my dogs and my dishes (they have their own bowls) I also wash my dishes with bleach or use the dishwasher.
It just depends on how you were brought up.
If you really threw a fit that was a bit “extra” or dramatic than yes, you over reacted. I think a simple questions and answers, a bit of communication and feedback could have solved your concerns.
I personally think you over reacted because the dish can be washed. . But that’s just my opinion.

Why does it matter black or white? I’m white but I don’t do this. My husband is white and he does. I think it’s more personal preference than race, but if soap and water is good enough to kill c diff and good enough for surgeons, I’m pretty sure it’ll kill the germs from your dogs butthole mouth.

You are over reacting. What does it matter what happens to anything before it’s washed? It’s getting washed. Do you understand the science of germs? There’s probably more germs on the spong or rag she’s using than the dog’s mouth.
