Is it gross to let a dog lick out of a bowl before its washed?

Shes out of fkn line. A dog should have its own dish. Period. There should never be an instance where a dog is licking a human dish :person_shrugging:

They get washed anyways. Think about all the mouths restaurant forks have been in. That’s grosser to me than dogs licking dishes.

Really!? There are much worse things to worry about than a dog licking a bowl before it’s washed. When it gets washed the germs from the dogs saliva are washed away. It’s not really your dog so you really have no say. You crossed the line not your friend. I’m just giving my opinion not trying to hurt feelings at all.

In my opinion you are overacting. If it’s being washed then the bowl is fine.

We let the pups pre-wash sometimes. Sister in law only let’s her dog lick dishes that are dirty in dishwasher lol

I mean, if it’s getting tossed after and the bowl washed after then I see no issue with it. Now if the dog is eating out of the bowl then yall are feeding the food after to someone, yah, that’s a problem

You most likely weren’t raised with indoor dogs.
Whatever sanitizes the dishes after you eat off them, will sanitize them after the dog eats as well.

I agree with Elisha. But if not washed in dishwasher, no way.

Overreacting. We say those dishes are “dog-clean” but run them through the dishwasher before reusing them.

I think it’s gross, my dog has her own labeled spoon & Tupperware. Idc it’s being washed it freaks me out.

Perfectly normal. We wash all our dishes in Antibacterial Palmolive and Dawn Ultimate. Never had a problem. I do think it’s all in how we are raised. But anywho next time can I come to the BBQ? I’ve always wanted to be invited!

You can tell who should never own a dog in this thread. A dogs life is too short to not be spoiled most the time (to a standard).

I have OCD and it’s bad. But my dog would lick a bowl. I used a tablespoon of bleach in my water. Their our fur babies

Haha  we do it I have been known to feed mine off a fork it goes through the dishwasher lol

It’s gross I don’t allow it

It’s not like she’s sharing her fork with the dog. And the dog’s mouth is probably cleaner than some of the nasty humans who have eaten off restaurant dishes before you. Herpes, rotten teeth, gave a bj right before they arrived at the restaurant
ugh I’ve never thought about this much before, but gross lol.

I don’t like it

they lick their butt them lick the bowl

I always use a straw.

Honestly
as long as it’s washed After I’d say nbd
if that was her method of washing it though (just dog licking-no actual washing) I’d run

You are over reacting. Dishes are washed in hot water.

White as newly fallen snow and agree this is nasty. I would never allow it.

Do you ever go out to eat at a restaurant? Think about the last 10 mouths that have been on that fork that your using
and your worried about the dog licking a dish that’s about to be washed???

I let me dog lick dishes I mean why not it’s gonna get washed anyways let him have some goodness too

It’s no worse than a person eating out of your bowl. If you use a dishwasher or soap and hot water it’s going to sanitize them anyways.

So disgusting:face_vomiting::face_vomiting: I would throw that bowl in the rubbish bin.

Lol, flies crawl on your food and poop. Then you eat it without a thought. You sleep in a bed that has shed skin cells and dust mites. Your skin crawls with germs and eyelashes 99% of skin mites. FDA approves a ratio of acceptable bugs in your food before canning. Your dog eating out of a bowl that will be washed is the least of your worries.

Overreacting! Dogs eat off my kids plate all the time when they are finish. It’s being washed so it’s not like his germs are staying on the plate. I mean kids get sick in a bowl, and you typically just wash and sanitize it and put it back.

Rae Crampton :rofl::weary::weary: eww this is nasty lol you know we don’t play with our pets like that ! This post has me crying !!

The people that comment that this is nasty are the same people that will let a dog lick their face after the dog has licked his pecker and his ass.

I think it’s gross. I wouldn’t allow it.

I would throw the bowl away!

Ya- soap and water will fix what’s in that dish. I’d rather the dog eat out of a bowl and wash it, than most folks putting my silverware in their mouth.

These comments right here are exact why you don’t eat at just anybody’s house. Imagine eating out of something a dog was just eating from  idgaf if it’s washed with bleach and water hotter than lucifers piss, it’s nasty! Dogs lick/eat anything including their own asshole and those of other dogs!

I’m white, and would never allow my pets to lick out of my bowl, glass, plate, etc. :face_vomiting:

Hell no! Bowl in trash now!

I see no problem with it.The dishes are being washed :woman_shrugging::woman_shrugging:

you’re overreacting. It gets washed, not like you’re eating after the dog.

I don’t have a problem letting kids, dogs and cats eat off my plate when I am finished but allowing them to share your food is a no no. When dishes are washed in our dishwashers today no fear of any illness. Wonder how many times we eat something disgusting without our knowledge.

No you are not over reacting!! That’s just gross. But I have a white daughter in law and I have witnesses the plate licking by her dog. Just not at my house

No dogs lick bowls when I’m around.

Is it gross to you? Don’t do it. Problem solved

It’s called using soap and hot water. You weren’t out of line to think it’s gross, but she’s perfectly fine with doing it.

Over reacting if it’s getting washed there shouldn’t be a problem .

It’s going to be washed, right? The dog cooties will all come off in hot soapy water. What is the problem?

I don’t think it’s nasty, I just wouldnt because don’t want to upset the dogs belly and deal with stinky farts or diarrhea from them later  I guess if they’re used to it they’d probably be fine though :woman_shrugging:

That’s a big no no at my house. Sso gross

My dog eats off a fork lol

Don’t like it, either.

An animal should have their own bowls. I just wasn’t raised like that :face_vomiting:

I sometimes let my dogs I mean I make a birthday cake and put them on our plates and they eat off of them it’s not that big of the deal

I would be more concerned about the dog getting sick from licking up human food. As long as the dog isn’t on the table licking a bowl I don’t think I’d care much since it will be washed.

I don’t see where it matters what color y’all are. It’s called sanitizer for a reason. Use it. 1 capful of bleach to a sick full of water or a gallon. Thatsa lot actually. But,I want to make sure the germs are dead. We don’t have a dog btw. Just a husband who enjoys licking his plate clean. :joy::joy::joy:

I think it’s an overreaction, the bowl will be washed.

YES, u are over reacting!

Not for me’but I guess hot water and soap takes care of germs.'Some dogs are cleaner than people.

I feel like that’s a situation only the two of you can decide. If you think it’s gross and she finds it acceptable then you two have to decide how to proceed. I’ve done it before but made a change because it grossed my fiancĂ© out.

as long as it’s washed after I don’t see a problem at all. Most dog owners probably would agree with your gf and people who don’t own or like dogs very much would agree with you
it’s just a matter of preference.

People are friendly with their dogs. I used to hate my grandpa used to feed his dog outta the same bowls bout for my little girl and just cause they’re small doesn’t mean it’s a good thought to have. Even if it gets washed. It’s disgusting to me. Feed that dog some dog food and it goes outside. It’s a dog. That’s just me though.

You’re over reacting she was perfectly right

Ever heard the story about “Cold Water”

Let the damn dog clean out the plates thats gonna go in the dishwasher!

Im super disgusting then because i literally set my pan of leftovers outside my back door for my dogs to clean up, then i bring them in and wash them and we eat off them again. :face_with_hand_over_mouth::rofl:

Out of line! My ex and his new wife allowed the dog to lick plates and such. I absolutely hated that!

As long as it’s washed afterwards then no big deal. You live with the dog, it’s in your house, it rubs itself on everything you own, and you pet it after it licks its balls/ass
Yes, you’re definitely over reacting

People do God knows what to the produce in the store before you actually wash and EAT it. Those belts at the grocery checkouts that you put your food on
.gross
but you still eat the food when you get it home. Lots of other examples.

My dogs have cleaner mouths than some people walking around & I’ve ate at restaurants & drank from their glasses so it’s just how you look @ it!! Some people go kissing & sucking anything (husband’s cousin) she I will not eat after or use anything she has drank from but my dogs get their teeth brushed & have their shots

Dogs are family. They get the leftovers from the food :woman_shrugging:t3:

So if you don’t trust your dishwasher or soap to clean dogs saliva, is it really gonna clean your spit and food?

I have always let my dogs lick the plates. Then they are put in the dishwasher where they are cleaned with soap and hot water. It’s really no different than another person licking your plate. And I do totally understand that it is personal thing.

Over reacting. This is totally normal in any house I have ever known with dogs.

i personally dont do it, but a dogs mouth is cleaner than ours and the dish is being washed. I only worry about what they are licking out of the bowl and if it is ok for them
