Is this too much for childcare?

Crazy!! I live in Alabama. 25 a day for one tops.

My childcare is 1000 monthly lol

Sketchy af. RUN. Find a licensed center.

I do childcare in my home and charge $55 for 2 children/day. I include 2 meals, snacks, and also any online schooling necessary. So, $50/day for one child seeks pretty steep.

Um i use to do childcare the state would pay like $18 a day I wanna say

Everyone is moving to Idaho because it’s cheaper. Now all of a sudden she can’t make rent. That’s a little to much in my opinion. Find another stay at home mom. There is plenty now because of the pandemic

65 for my 8mth old and 45 for my 3yr old.

I paid $600 a month 30 yrs ago.

If she is good you pay for what you get

Reading this I know I lucked out… I pay 50 a week for 2 kids at the boys and girls club

always paid 50 or more per day…

When. My. Sons. Were. Small. I. Paid. $120.00. A. Week. For. 2.

That’s crazy cheap for childcare.

I payed 25 a day 19 years ago

high…I pay 35 per day for a infant up to 10 hours in licensed center

I charge $10 an hour

That’s the norm. I’ve always payed 50.00
dollars per day.

daycare in nc here is 145-190 a week. i think 50 a day is way too much. i only charged 100 a week when i babysat

No minimum pay rates in US.

I meant to say 35 dollars a week

That’s…quite cheat acually…

I change 35. Per week

For the peace of mind of having someone who tales care of my baby well, i would do it

Dang! I pay 130$/day for my kids. I have 3. So I’m paying roughly 45$/child. My childcare is close to 1000$/week😭

If you can afford it yes why not… but sometimes financial situation can become a burden. Think about your situation and what is best for you in all aspects. I had the most amazing childminder and one of my dreams is when I win the million I would like her to be my children’s private nanny even though my children are teenagers now. But there was a stage I couldn’t afford her anymore, her prices was little comparison to the way she treated my children, from homework, a la carte food to follow up on children’s school things! She was registered childminder. But I had to let her go and pay my children after school clubs and me and my friends we would help each other out… but again my children were in school age…

600 a month isn’t bad.
We have some day cares in my state that cost that as a flat rate, regardless of if your child misses a day.
I found a place that’s less than 150 a week, but I got LUCKY.
If you’re confident your child is safe with her, pay it. Why risk taking your child to a new environment with new people (with different attitudes) if you and your child are happy there?

I would absolutely pay that for someone I was comfortable with and liked. No question.
Average child care here is $1400 a month for two kids. If it were just one (next year it will be) it will still be $800 a month

That in my opinion is crazy. I charge 15 a day from 5 am to 7 pm. I provide all snacks. Activities and if we go anywhere I pay for it for my littles. I also work weekends. I am a licensed daycare thru my state (MO). I could charge much more. However, I dont bc im in this to help people bc the cost of daycare is rediculas. Im sorry your going thru this.
Her having financial things and wanting to move shouldn’t fall upon you to make sure she stays. As well as, for her to change ur cost that much of an increase feels like she’s taking advantage of you.
I require my people to pay a week in advance that ways if there any issues like this where moving is an option, im covered if someone decides to move. Looses a job or whatnot.

Wow idk where you all live but I paid $65 a week for my daughter

I live in Atlanta and the best full time daycare is easily $1200 per month. Babysitters make $10-20 per hr depending on experience and often more if there are housekeeping responsibilities. Nannies make $24k to $36k. I am a sahm because we just cannot justify the cost of childcare.

I think it depends on how old your child is, if they have any special needs, etc… My daughter watches my nephews, who are 11 and 7, and helps them with school (remote learning). She is paid $250 per week ($50 per day).

My sister in law gives me 80$ a week and I watch them 4 … 5 hour shifts and do one overnight a week. I only charge because I have six children myself and feed bath and do homeschooling for my nieces so with the pandemic were broke a.f.

I’m in Idaho, my son went to an in home, licensed daycare for $600 a month, flat rate for 5 days, or $500 a month for 3 days a week. 630am to 630pm were the hours, no limit. All meals and snacks provided.
Now my son goes to a daycare preschool with activities and learning, all meals and snacks provided, for $520 a month, up to 50 hours a week. We are much happier with the preschool daycare, plus it’s cheaper.

I would pay an extra $20-$30 if you really like her. A good babysitter is hard to come by!

I’ve never used a SAHM- I used a in home daycare where she was certified through DCF to run a daycare and I paid 35/weekly.

As cost of things go up, people will increase wages.

When my son went to an actual daycare I paid 98-125/weekly.

For our licensed daycare that provides 2 meals and snacks plus a learning curriculum it is 30/day or 120 for full week.

I pay $365 a week for one kid. $650 for both my kids every week.

in South Africa we don’t do weekly payments. Having someone come to your house to only look after your own kid is classified as aupair. Which is like employing staff, and salary is discussed. So this sounds normal toe me. We would pay anything from R3000 per month and up which is very low for aupair. (less than $200 dollars/month). It’s much more affordable to use daycare where there are more kids and you don’t have to stress about someone else’s rent/salary. So I would say first find a suitable daycare and make sure that they have space for your kid, and give her notice that her contract will end so she has enough time to make arrangements for herself. (1 or 2 months).

How old is your child? An infant rate at a licensed child care center in my area is $235/week, it goes down a little each time the move to the next room.

I pay $25 a day for a in home licensed day care here in Illinois

Depending on where you’re at. I’m in NC and see $15-25 an hour. Daycares charge $25 a day

I am a full time child care teacher in an infant room. One factor with pricing is age. How old is your child? Infants - toddlers are the most expensive because obviously because they’re helpless they need the most care. My center charges $187 / week full time for an infant as young as 6 weeks. That comes out to about $37.40 / day. And the child care I work at is a church so it’s a non-profit which means they charge only enough to pay us-employees and keep the lights on and basic operating costs… not sure about rent costs in Idaho but I live in Illinois…

What I have experienced is like $30 or $35 for an in home daycare (unlicensed)

It’s $200/week here in NYC in a licensed providers home. Meals included, 8-6, Mon-Fri.

I mean break it down hourly if it’s like 8 or even 5 hours equals 10 an hour which in my state is well under min wage

I would charge $100 a week for each kid. Guess that’s just me.

What would you charge to watch your kids?

Stay home and don’t pay someone else to raise your baby. Staying home saved me and my husband a lot of money!

I live in Arctic where it’s $90 for a full day. $50 for half a day. Man. That would help out if it was only $50/full day. Once I saw my daycare fee go from $670-$690 for 8 days total out of the full month. I get that it was a drop in and not full month attendee for my son. Just count yourself lucky you don’t live in the Arctic where there’s higher prices for many things. $30/box of 16 pack pogos too.

Growing up has never come the easier way. It comes with lots of challenges like lost marriages, lost love, financial and job problems and so many more, but still there has always been a solution to every challenges that we face in life. Life has been so difficult for me these past few months and I had given up on myself knowing that I will not find love or true happiness again. Two months ago I found out I was pregnant and I was so happy and excited to have my own baby and I didn’t even call my boyfriend. I just wanted to take the results to him and show him face to face and share the good news together. But when I reached his flat I saw his car parked outside and knew he was home so I went straight to his room. When I knocked, he allowed me to enter because he wasn’t expecting me at the time, but when i opened the door I nearly fainted because I caught him ready handed with another woman in his house. I looked at them and closed the door and ran away, he followed me saying his sorry and the woman is just a friend and nothing else but I knew he was lying and I walked away. I reached home and cried a lot until i told my best friend everything and she told me to fight for my man and not loose him to another woman. She gave me Sir Marere contact +2348109805184 email is: marerespells@gmail. com and told me Sir Marere will bring back my boyfriend to me and love only me. So i contacted Sir Marere and told her everything, he made a love and binding prayers for me and in 1 day of the prayers my boyfriend came to me with that woman I saw him with and knelt down and begged for my forgiveness and told the woman that am the love of his life and he doesn’t ever want to see her again. The woman walked away and that evening my man came back with a baked cake and gifts and flowers and asked for my forgiveness again and promised never to hurt me again and I told him that we are having a baby, he cried and smiled with joy and happiness. We are back together and so much in love and waiting for our baby to arrive. Thanks so much Sir Marere your prayers indeed work. You can call or whats-app Sir marere on +2348109805184 Email: marerespells@gmail. com incase you are passing through the same situation. Don’t be discouraged by what people may tell you that even don’t know the situation you are going through, all that matters are the results so feel free to contact him.

I pay 1,440 a month for prek🤷‍♀️

You get what you pay for  especially if you need & like her

Way too much!! I pay $25 a day with a licensed daycare lady who goes above and beyond for the kids. She even hosts holiday parties and birthdays for the kids, and holiday parties for the parents as well. She has cameras inside and outside her home that I can watch from my phone.

Omg it’s VERY cheap!!! Lucky you:exploding_head::ok_hand:t3:

I charge $50/day…and that’s the low end here in CO! Most daycares will even make you pay for days your child isn’t in care, and the provider is open here, so $600 a month is cheap!

Are you the only parent with a child in her care? What if you do decide to pay her the extra and she up and moves anyway? Where I live if you run an in-home daycare, the provider needs to be CPR certified, the have to take a child development class and refreshers. I would look into the child care laws in you state pertaining to in-home daycares. It seems like she is guilting you and feeding on that guilt, because she knows you need the childcare.

We pay 1k per kid a month for a daycare center. But they are open 12 hours and feed my kids breakfast lunch and snacks. Not sure she’s giving you the same benefits

Oh my, all these prices seem so high. I lucked out with my child care provider, she is not licensed but I love her and so do the kids. Due to their ages now only 1 is still with her but she only charges me $10/day for after-school only, and $20/day for full days and this includes meals. Child care is overrated, but completely necessary at the same time.

In some places it’s like $1,200 a month and higher. $50 per day seems pretty reasonable if you do want to keep your son in her care. But you definitely aren’t responsible to make her stay so you feel like the $10 extra a day is too much move him to the other day home.

In ohio ik a SAHM with her childcare degree charges $25/day. But everyone is different. To me 50 is. a little steep.

So 3 days a week at $150 a week $600 a month maybe if she was licensed and taken cpr classes and maybe some darkness to light classes

You have to take into consideration that most at home day cares are mon-fri and she’s willing to watch your child on a Saturday. So that price is reasonable.

My daughter pays $1000 per month even when the sitter takes holidays or if her daughter stays home. Part-time is $900.

If you do decide to stay with the lady (which $150/week is the norm here, but I get that it varies based on location) then you at least have a sitter for Thur- Fri if you want to run errands, wrap gifts, take a nap or bath, etc. :woman_shrugging:t2:

I pay $20 a day for in home child care. $50 sounds very expensive! However, I’ve known this lady for years and she is one of the very few I trust with my daughter. If she went up on her price I would probably still stick with her

Depending on the hours per day I would say it is reasonable. I run a private in home daycare, i have CPR and 1st aid, have my medical assistant as well and child care classes under my belt. All parents are allowed to view at anytime in the sign out book. I’m in AZ and I charge $30 per day(mandated 3 day minimum since it is my only source of income and I have a family to support of my own) and take $5 off for siblings. Rates can and do change. Just because someone is a SAHM doesn’t mean she shouldn’t be able to be paid for her time. Your trusting your child to be in someone else’s care. If you value and trust her enough then you know what choice to make.

I pay a little over a grand a month for daycare (I’m a single parent with no financial assistance and I pay childcare completely out of pocket) so if $600 is all she’s asking for then I wouldn’t have a problem with it.

My son is in a preschool 3 room at a daycare center. He goes 24 hrs a week and it’s $184. (Food not included— we pack meals/snacks) $50 is reasonable, as long as you feel your child is getting everything they need and is safe.

That’s really cheap, here in Australia depending where you live daycare starts at $90 to $200 per day

I paid $275 a week 12 years ago. $50 a day to have someone you already know and trust watch your kids is a steal.

I think the $50 is absolutely reasonable especially since she’ll work weekends BUT if you’re planning on ditching her in a couple months to become a SAHM yourself, it’s not fair! If she needs to move now then don’t hold her back if you’re not going to stay with her long term.

I’d say if you’re not sure you’ll keep her let her know right away.

$50 seems reasonable to me. Believe it or not daycare centers are much more expensive.
Even so it’s your choice in the end.

It probably depends on where you live. When my kids were in daycare (in home licensed) it was $30 a day, but since I had 2 kids I got a discounted rate of $25 each per day, so $50. So in my opinion, yes thats high for one child.

Seems high for someone who isnt licensed or have cpr. I mean its $30-35 a day for daycare. They usually dont want part time so generally pay $150-175 a week.

I pay about $226 a week for my daycare. M-F for up to 50 hours. My daughter is 2 and we live in WI. Now this is an actual center, not an In-Home so $50 seems very high

No, I paid $165 a week for my youngest 5 days a week and that was 13 years ago

Pay her and send him all 5 days and get some time to yourself. You may even be able to pick up a side job to be able to drop your Sat shift. Sometimes it helps mom and child to have time to yourself as often as you can.

If you pay 600$ a month in childcare then girl I don’t see why you couldn’t just be a sahm

I used to pay $50 per day 18 years ago

I pay $35 a day (anything over 5 hours) for one child for daycare in MI.

I guess it depends on how many hours and the age of the child but back in 2007, I paid $40 a day for my baby

600 a month for daycare is really cheap where I am at in wyoming… Most are paying 200 to 250 a week

I pay $20 a day for daycare and it’s a proper daycare

My daycare is 1350$ for 20 days a month. Thankfully there is subsidy.

Where I live in California 15-17 an hour is standard so about $120-$140 for an 8 hour day

What do other local parents pay for childcare? I would base it off the going rate locally.

I paid that much for 3 kids! But that was 15 years ago

I pay about $410 a month for 6 full days (630am to 600pm) where I’m at, at a daycare center.

I’m going to be babysitting for my dad and he’s paying me 75$ a week

For me it was going to be 1300 for 3 children plus food diapers wipes juice and sippy cups and changes of clothes

My 3 year old is $53/day and my 5 year old is 31/day (he’s there about 3 hours)

I pay 120$ /night. and my kids are asleep 80% of the time. But i have 3. 9, 5 and 5.
